Coca Cola controversy

As Cristiano Ronaldo snubbed Coca-Cola at the press conference ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2020 opener, the move had a spiralling effect all across the football fraternity. The move also coincided with the share prices of Coca-Cola dropping down, wiping off about USD 4 billion from their brand value. However, industry experts don’t feel the two incidents were related.

Highlights

  • Cristiano Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola snub at a Euro 2020 news conference has been a huge topic of discussion
  • The move also coincided with the brand value of Coke sinking by USD 4 billion
  • A market expert, however, has brushed aside any connection between the two

Ronaldo wasn’t pleased seeing Coca-Cola bottles placed on the table as he arrived to attend the press conference with Portugal manager Fernando Santos on the eve of the Hungary match. He put the Coke bottles aside and picked up a water bottle saying ‘Agua’, asking people to drink water over soft drinks.

While the move was to promote a healthier lifestyle, the fact that Coca-Cola is an official sponsor of Euro 2020, is bound to leave both the beverage brand and UEFA a little disappointed.

“Coke and UEFA will both be fuming,” sports marketing expert Tim Crow, who worked as an advisor to the beverage-maker for 20 years, was quoted as saying by The Athletic. “The fact is there’s an agreement between them, which all the FAs and players sign up to, and one of the contractual agreements is going to press conferences where you’re surrounded by the sponsors’ branding.”

It’s certainly not ideal that one of the most famous and most followed athletes on the planet makes a gesture like that. The sports marketing community will have raised more than an eyebrow in Ronaldo doing that,” he added.

A day after the incident, reports of Ronaldo’s move hurting Coca-Cola’s stock prices and brand value surfaced but Crow has dismissed any co-relation between the two incidents. Branding it as ‘complete nonsense’, Crow said that the investors in the United States of America are not impacted by what happens in a European football match’s press conference.

American investors are not driven by what happens in a press conference ahead of a European football match. It doesn’t work like that. Tonnes of stocks went down for several reasons but the two things are not related. There are a billion servings of Coke every day. I think they’ll be OK,” he said.

PROCRASTINATION

Are you always short of time? Do you wish you had more than twenty-four hours in a day? Do you postpone things to a later date? Well, if it is so, it means that you suffer from the monster of Procrastination. The word ‘procrastination comes from the Latin word ‘Pro’ meaning ‘in favour and ‘Cras’ meaning ‘tomorrow.’ It is defined as the act or habit of delaying or putting things off for a later date. A tiny problem that can be solved easily develops into a huge one when we ignore it, thus giving rise to confusion and loss of precious time and energy in trying to untangle it.

Why do we procrastinate?

Procrastination is a bad habit, and we should prevent it from developing in our character. Here are some major reasons why people procrastinate.

1) Lack of concentration and finding a task uninteresting.
2) Filling the day with low-priority tasks rather than with the most important tasks.
3) Leaving an item in the ‘to-do list’ for a long time, even though it is important.
4) Regularly saying ‘yes’ to unimportant tasks that others want us to do and spending time on them, instead of getting on with the important tasks.
5) Waiting for the ‘right mood’ or the ‘right time to complete important tasks at hand.
6)Leaving an item in the ‘to-do list’ for a long time, even though it is important.

How to avoid Procrastination?

You cannot break the habit of Procrastination overnight, but you can gradually overcome this problem by following some tips. Some of the tips to avoid Procrastination are:

  1. Self-discipline is important. Character is built when you learn that things need to be done, even if you don’t feel like doing them. Overcome your moods.
  2. Create a calendar or ‘to-do list’ that identifies daily tasks, which need to be done.
  3. Organize your surroundings so that you are encouraged to take up the task and finish on time.
  4. Focus on one task at a time.
  5. Set yourself time-bound goals. Prepare action plans. That way, you will have no time for Procrastination.
  6. Make up your own rewards. For example, promise yourself a fifteen-minute break before starting a new task or treating yourself to candy to complete a task successfully.

Remember, Procrastination is an unhealthy habit and adds unnecessary pressure to daily Procrastination is often called the ‘thief of time’ because if you delay something, it will -longer to do so later on. Work does not disappear if we delay it. One day or the other, it has to be done. The more we postpone, the more the work piles up. Finally, we have no choice but to tackle it. Time wasted is the time lost forever. Therefore, Procrastination or the habit of delaying things is rightly called the thief of time. Not procrastinating requires self-discipline and determination to do a task on hand at once. One who does not procrastinate will be more successful in all spheres of life.

How to Make Money Blogging

. Online Courses and Workshops

Here at Smart Blogger, we make most of our income from online courses and workshops — over $1 million per year — but we are far from the only successful blog doing this. Most of the people making a lot of money from their blogs are doing it online

Books and Ebooks

Quite a few writers have parlayed their blogging success into a major publishing deal. Mark Manson, for instance, published a in 2015. Millions of readers later, he got a book deal with Harper Collins and went on to sell over 3,000,000 copies in the US alone.

Affiliate Marketing

If you’d like to create some passive income streams from your blog, one of the best choices is affiliate marketing — recommending the services, digital products, and physical products of other companies in exchange for a commission.

Advertising

Normally, we’re not big fans of selling ads on your site. You need roughly a million visitors per year for the large ad networks to take you seriously, and affiliate marketing is almost always more profitable and just as passive.

That being said, some niches like recipes, fashion, and news are hard to monetize through many of the other methods mentioned here, and they get LOTS of page views. In that case, putting a few ads on your site can make sense as a supplementary income source.

Speaking

There are many reasons to start a blog for personal use and only a handful of strong ones for business blogging. Blogging for business, projects, or anything else that might bring you money has a very straightforward purpose – to rank your website higher in Google SERPs, a.k.a. increase your visibility.

As a business, you rely on consumers to keep buying your products and services. As a new business, you rely on blogging to help you get to potential consumers and grab their attention. Without blogging, your website would remain invisible, whereas running a blog makes you searchable and competitive.

Blogs and websites

Many people still wonder if there is any difference between a blog and a website. What is a blog and what is a website? It’s even more challenging to differentiate between the two today. Many companies are integrating blogs into their websites as well, which further confuses the two.

Women and Indian Politics

Women and Indian Politics

The age old social norms suggest women of the elite class society to take care of the domestic chores in the most efficient manner while the men actively participate in the politics.

Many women have set examples by breaking these norms while indirectly and sometimes directly participating in politics in the history. Draupadi actively participated in the discussions regarding whether to go for war or not. In ancient Tamil Snagam poetry gives evidences of women ambassadors, advisors, bodyguards and even throne guards in the under the Chola rule. Centuries apart in Mughal India wives and mothers of the Nawabs played significant roles in the political sphere. Queen of Jhansi played a very significant role in the 1857 revolt against British rule in India. In the nineteenth century when British annexed the kingdom of Awadh, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah fled to Calcutta to seek help while his wife Begum Hazrat Mahal stayed there and challenged the British.

Although women played indirect roles in policy making and diplomacy they had few opportunities in official active politics. This changed around the time of independence of India. From 1929 onwards women were granted the right to vote under British rule but this was enjoyed by very few of them often from the elite classes. The nationalist movement enabled nationalist feminists like Sarojini Naidu, Herabai Tata and Mithan Lam to raise their voice for greater participation of women in politics including their right to vote. It was only after the independence that all women of the country enjoyed the right to vote. Female leaders also participated actively in the discussions regarding policy making for independent India and many issues like age of consent, child marriage etc.

The right to vote includes women into politics but does not ensure their active participation in leadership roles. Even today women make up only 13 per cent of the Indian parliament while the global average ranges around 20 to 25 per cent. Its been 25 years since the bill for 33 per cent reservation for women in the parliament was introduced but it is yet to be passed. Most regional and national political parties give only 20 per cent MP and MLA tickets to women. The current situation is the result of an age old belief and mindsets based on the belief that only men are capable of being great leaders. This way of thinking is being passed on since generations as it is reinforced from a very young age. Research has shown that in low income households, while young boys are pushed into school, sports and debates etc. in order to help them develop the necessary leadership skills young girls are often made to drop school and help in the domestic chores. In colleges and universities the union and presidential roles are often filled up by men while women choose to stay away from politics having focus on study. The notion of politibs being a ‘dirty’ domain makes most families keep their girls away from it. Women politicians are far more prone to derogatory public remarks about their appearances, merit, ways of expression etc. than other female celebrities. A large scale study shows that every one in five tweets for female politicians is abusive.

Studies have shown that more involvement of women in politics actually enhances the governance in numerous ways including emphasis on long term development by focusing on primary healthcare and education, better cooperation amongst political parties and increasing responsiveness towards citizens’ needs. Maybe its time we challenge the patriarchal mindset and let every potential leader to have equal opportunity.

He/she is charged with the responsibility of creating focus as well as opening the mind of people through instilling values, morals, and ethics. Instructors efforts are diagnosed during the teacher’s day. They form minds, and we yearly have fun their contribution to the development of society inside the form of teachers’ day the world over. But, we have a good time the worldwide teachers day on october fifth annually.

Teachers’ day in India
Teachers are respected and venerated for their important contribution in shaping individuals. Teacher’s Day is celebrated on September 5. This is really the birthday of the former president of india, dr. Sarvepalli radhakrishnan.

Why techers day is celebrated?
The contributions and efforts made through teachers in no way go omitted. This brought about the inauguration of the trainer’s day which seeks to celebrate the efforts made by means of the academics. In india, we have fun the trainer’s day on the birthday of dr. Sarvepalli radhakrishnan who become referred to as a man of many splendid traits and attributes.

Teachers play many jobs in universal development consisting of:

They manual children and students to leadership capabilities
They instill subject into young people molding them into destiny
Also, they offer their college students with religious and emotional steering.
Instructors also stumble upon numerous challenges in their everyday activities which include the unappreciative subculture via the community in addition to dealing with disciplinary problems in their students.

What can we do on teachers’ day?
A thank-you can pass a long manner. In our busy lives, we’ve got come to forget expressing gratitude. Many studies have come up explaining the blessings that gratitude could have on the only who expresses it and on the one who gets it. We can take this possibility as a day to thank our teachers and explicit our love and take care of them.

We will endorse and provide help with the aid of making use of the skills that we’ve discovered over those years.
Additionally, we will supply them a go to on this day and share with them our studies. This could for positive lead them to satisfied and happy with their efforts.
We are able to gift a small token of appreciation, something that they could keep as a memory like a pen or a planner or something that would be beneficial for them.
We have to also are seeking their advantages and let them realize that we’re continually there for them after they need us.
Students can together gift them books and other substances and prepare a get-together specially if the elegance has graduated.
Time spent with them and gratitude expressed could be a excellent gesture to make teachers glad and proud. It’s miles very vital to recognize their contribution to molding our personality.

Conclusion
Teachers play an vital position within the development of any country. This is why it is critical to set aside an afternoon whilst the academics are given the recognition they deserve. We have a good time instructors’ day to honor the contribution of instructors in our lives. Duties undertaken by using instructors within the upbringing of children is great and for this reason being recognized with instructors’ day is a step in the direction of recognizing the profession and the function they play in society.

DC Generator- Construction and Its Working

What is a DC Generator?

DC machines can be classified into two types called as DC Motor and DC Generator. A DC generator is an electrical machine which converts mechanical energy into electricity or electrical energy. When conductor slashes magnetic flux, an emf is generated, According to Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction. A DC generator can also be used as a DC motor without changing its construction. The main advantage of DC Generator is its simple construction and design.

Construction of DC Generator:

Different parts of DC Generator are:

Construction of DC Generator
  • Armature or Rotor: Rotor is a rotating part of DC generator that rotates on its axis. A rotor in a DC machine includes slotted iron laminations with slots that are stacked to shape a cylindrical armature core. The function of the lamination is to decrease the loss caused due to Eddy Current.
  • Field Coil or Stator: It is a non-moving part of DC generator, it provide magnetic fields where the coil spins. It includes two magnets with opposite polarity facing each other.
  • Yoke: It is an outer frame and it provides mechanical strength to whole assembly of motor. It is made up of cast iron or steel.
  • Pole Shoe: It enlarges region of pole, so that the flux can be spread out within the air-gap as well as extra flux can be passed through the air space toward armature. The materials used to build pole shoe is cast iron or steel.
  • Pole: It is an electromagnet and the field winding is wounded on pole and are connected either in series or in parallel with the armature winding. When the field winding is energized then the pole gives magnetic flux. The materials used for this are cast steel, cast iron.
  • Commutator: Commutator is present on Shaft of the machine, commutator works like a rectifier that changes AC voltage to DC voltage within the armature winding. It is designed with a copper segment.
  • Brushes: The brushes of a DC motor are made with graphite and carbon structure. Its function is to transfer the current from coil to load connected in the circuit of electric generator.

Working of DC Generator

The Working principle of DC Generator is that, when a current-carrying conductor is placed in a varying magnetic field, an emf is induced in the conductor, according to Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction.

Working of DC Generator

Now, according to Fleming’s right-hand rule, the direction of the induced current changes when the direction of motion of the conductor changes. For Example, Let us consider an armature rotating clockwise and a conductor at the left moving upwards. When the armature completes a half rotation, the direction of the motion of the conductor will be reversed downward. Hence, the direction of the current in every armature will be alternating. But with a split ring commutator, connections of the armature conductors get reversed when a current reversal occurs. Hence, we get unidirectional current or direct current at the terminals.

The emf equation of the DC generator is given by the equation:

Eg= PϕZN/60A

Where,

Z is the total number of armature conductor,

P is the number of poles in a generator,

A is the number of parallel lanes within the armature,

N is the rotation of armature in rpm,

E is the induced emf in any parallel lane within the armature,

Eg is the generated emf in any one of the parallel lane,

N/60 is the number of turns per second.

Also, the input power is not fully transformed into output power, which is due to losses associated with the DC Generator. There are mainly four type losses which are Hysteresis Loss, Eddy Current Loss, Iron-Core Loss, Copper Loss.

Applications of DC Generators:

Applications of DC Generator are:

  • The separately excited type DC generators are used for power and lighting purposes.
  • The series DC generator is used in arc lamps for lighting, stable current generator and booster.
  • DC generators are used to reimburse the voltage drop within Feeders.
  • DC generators are used to provide a power supply for hostels, lodges, offices, etc.

How dreams lead us to fetch the goal:

We often dream to become something in our compressed life. Sharp campaigns of pragmatism enforce the zeal to replicate the same motive within us. The same we follow, the same we want to be in real count of life. The true method can actually guide us to fetch those inseparable ideologies within us. There are some relevant guides to do so:

1. Fix the goal and run for it without giving it a second thought.

2. Follow a perfect routine and give your time table a subjective make over.

3. Remain calm and motivated throughout the day, no matter how hard the day is -one needs to be calm and patient in any situation.

4. Stay focused and motivated.

5. Set your ideal model and follow that individual’s prerogatives.

6. Have healthy diet and maintain balanced metabolic rate within your body, so that you can activate your energy throughout the day.

7. Have sufficient sleep, it’s very important.

Avoid people who spread negativity and smile with your positive powers.

All the best -keep shining.

PRIDE MONTH

Pride Month is a month-long observance in celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people—and the history, culture, and contributions of these people and their communities.Pride Month takes place every year in June.

It is not limited to people with these sexualities or gender identities. Pride Month also celebrates and is celebrated by those with a range of other identities considered outside of the cishet mainstream, including people who are intersex, nonbinary, asexual, pansexual, aromantic, two-spirit, or who identify in other ways or are questioning their sexual or gender identity or expression.

Starting with the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969, , a New York City. Pride Month both commemorates and celebrates LGBTQ activism and culture through the years. Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ voices, celebration of LGBTQ culture and the support of LGBTQ rights. Throughout the month of June, nationwide, there have traditionally been parades, protests, drag performances, live theater and memorials and celebrations of life for members of the community who lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. It is part political activism, part celebration of all the LGBTQ community has achieved over the years. You probably knew that the rainbow flag — created by artist Gilbert Baker in 1978 — is used as a symbol of LGBTQ pride, but did you know that each color on the flag has its own meaning? In the widely known six-color flag, red is symbolic of life, orange is symbolic of spirit, yellow is sunshine, green is nature, blue represents harmony and purple is spirit. In the original eight-color flag, hot pink was included to represent sex and turquoise to represent magic/art.

Pride Month is commonly celebrated with parades and other large, celebratory gatherings devoted to individual displays of pride and expression, including displays of the rainbow Pride flag and other flags representing people with different identities.Such events also often serve as protests against the discrimination and marginalization targeted against people who identify in these ways. Pride Month traces its roots to such protests and specifically commemorates the event known as the Stonewall Riots or the Stonewall Uprising, which is often considered the start of the movement for gay, queer, and transgender rights.
The month-long celebrations are an affirmation to the long-shunned LGBTQ community. Picnics, marches, public events and initiatives are held for the community and also to help create awareness about them. Many countries have their own respective pride months, which highlight a significant development for the LGBTQ community. Russia celebrates their pride month in May, as that was the month when the country decriminalised homosexuality in 1993.

WORLD MUSIC DAY

World Music Day is celebrated on June 21 every year to honour the musicians and singers for the gift of music, which gives flight to the imagination and life to everything. A world without music would have no meaning to many and World Music Day is observed to celebrate the power of this art.Music is one of the most beautiful experiences known to human kind. There is some kind of music for everyone. It transcends all borders and boundaries. To celebrate this beautiful art form, World Music Day is observed.
The day was first celebrated in 1982 in France. It is a national holiday and people come out to play and enjoy music. The event would take place on the summer solstice, and is celebrated all across the country.

Free live music is played everywhere from roads, to streets, to mountain tops, to rooftops and shops. With its growing popularity, World Music day has now become a global event.Music is the art of arranging sounds in time to produce a composition through the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. It is one of the universal cultural aspects of all human societies. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the “color” of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments.

Manners Maketh a Man

A gentleman is known by a gentle deeds. Manners do not only constitute mere outward behavior, but also construes good conduct and morality. Thus, any form of education, which does not cater to imparting moral training is incomplete, if it does not lead to a good moral character.

Manners are an essential perquisites for a good character. This could be only possible if one has a wholesome education, that would enable him to differentiate between what is good or bad, noble or evil. These are the attributes that are important for our future. A man without these qualities of head and heart, is but a savage.

Therefore, Manners play a significant role in man’s life, without which he can never be a complete man, in the true sense of the world.

DOWRY: INEVITABLE IN INDIA?

In a PATRIARCHAL SOCIETY such as ours that accords sub-ordinate status to women, the position of a GIRLCHILD is indeed VULNERABLE. In case of FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY, it is the GIRLCHILD whose education is sacrificed in order to manage the household and take care of the younger children at home. This has led to a situation where the GIRLCHILD is treated as a guest in her own home. The DOWRY SYSTEM deeply rooted in the CULTURE and CUSTOMS of most COMMUNITIES in INDIA is a cause of harrasment for most women.

DOWRY means “transfering WEALTH in any form from the BRIDE’S family to the GROOM’S! The DOWRY means the demand made by the bridegroom’s family from the bride’s parents for the payment of money as well as other costly gifts in the shape of land, house, clothes, and jewels, a condition precedent to the alliance. It is a way to showcase love and care and help the newly wedded couple start their journey without any difficulty. But with time, it has found different meanings, and as a result, young girls around the nation suffer from various crimes and domestic violence.

It is basically a HINDU INSTITUTION, which is now spreading to other communities. DOWRY, in fact, is not a recent development. History is full of examples where daughters have been, married off with immense wealth given away to them in the wedding. Gifts, presents, and things given to the daughter in marriage is nothing bad at all. It is more of a token of their LOVE and HAPPINESS. But, when the parents of the groom make demands in order to fulfill their desires at the expense of the bride’s family, it becomes not only a legal offence but a moral and ethical one too. When people try to extract the expenses made by them on their son’s upbringing and EDUCATION from the bride’s family, it takes the SHAPE OF DOWRY. DOWRY, thus, smears the sacred relationship of marriage and converts it into a base, mean, and cheap, financial deal!

The Dowry system has been in our country since ever, and even after the legal intervention, it is getting harder to eradicate it for so long. The simple process of transfer of poverty has become a deep-rooted problem for our society. And many tough girls and their families have to go through hardship every time in our country. Dowry is a punishable crime in our nation. To protect young girls from various dowry-related injustice, reports against dowry are given priority. But most crimes are never reported, the domestic violence is at an increasing rate. The lack of proper education and awareness is a major reason for these increasing crimes. Many young girls are even pushed to the face of death for dowry.

The dowry system brings a dark cloud above the heads of the bride’s family. Fathers of young girls fear the day of their daughter’s marriage and save money for that particular day. In the northern part of India, the dowry system is quite more prevalent, along with casteism. Dowry is nothing but a nightmare for women. Every woman goes through the ugly phase, where she is made to feel like she is a liability. The country is continuously fighting against the dowry system. Various NGOs have come forward and raised the issue by spreading awareness among the population. The beautiful gesture of providing a helping hand towards the newly wedded has taken an ugly turn. Dowry is a punishable crime, and anyone who is, by any means, tries to support or even hide the truth will have to face legal consequences. Both the parties, the giver and taker, of dowry will be punished under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

DESPITE many acts and provisions taken in favour of WOMEN, from PROTECTION against DOWRY, There have been still many active cases of DOWRY:. Bengaluru may be on the international map as an IT hub. But the city saw a rise in the number of dowry cases annually. In the first 16 days of the current year, 17 dowry cases were filed across police stations in the city. The number of cases filed under the Dowry Prohibition Act witnessed a rise from 690 in 2018 to 739 in 2019. The number had stood at 727 in 2017. The number of dowry deaths saw a jump from 48 in 2018 to 52 in 2019, with none reported so far in 2020. Though 2017, 2018 and 2019 saw an average of more than two cases a day, this year’s average for the first 16 days has been a tad above one case per day. Police point out that the nature of cases has become more disturbing and serious, often involving attacks on women who are victimised by the socio-economic menace.

Hence, it will be difficult to say that DOWRY IS ERADICATED FROM INDIA. Being a DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY, where we are developed so far, WOMEN in INDIA still faces the Problem of DEVELOPMENT. We put their dignity everytime at stake, whenever, wherever someone asks them for DOWRY, and successfully, the girl’s parents fulfill it. It’s high time that the SOCIETY should realise the DIGNITY of a WOMAN, the SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE, and UNITE to fight against the EVIL custom of DOWRY!

Data Mining and Big Data

As the saying goes, “your intelligence is only as strong as the information that backs it”, this explains the importance of the data in human life. We develop logic on the amount of information we put inside our brain.  As per Forbes 2019 reports, internet data created per day is approximately equal to 2.9 quintillion byte. A quintillion byte is a billion gigabytes just for reference. Every aspect of human life is transformed to data in many ways by the electronic equipment that we handle daily. The increase in data generation is directly proportional to the development in the wearable and mobile devices, IoT, Tweets, posts, mobile communications, etc. Google alone handles more than 60,000 searches per second, On the other hand Twitter administers 5 lakh tweets per day, and there are more than 160 million emails sent every day, and all things like these accumulate into the vast database ever known to mankind. The concept of big data is getting bigger and bigger with every passing second. It has become more valuable than ever for the big players and big bosses i.e. companies and countries and there is politics and geopolitics is involved and it has become a extremely big topic certainly in the last decade. As per the estimate of the global economic group states at the end of 2020, data flows will constitute 16 to 22 percent of the global GDP. The impact of data in the Indian economy is becoming vital day by day as the Indian GDP relies more on tertiary sector services. At the end of 2030 around 50 percent of the Indian economy will be constituted by the data-driven digital market as per estimates.

A major hurdle in the digital markets is to find insights into data. Data abundance is making it difficult for organizations to get the right and on point insights of data. Data science and data analytics come in handy to deal with unstructured raw data accumulated by various sources. Data science is the study of a combination of mathematics, statistics, programming, and capturing data in ingenious ways, the activity of cleansing, aligning the data and withdrawing proper conclusions and analytics from the data. This is an umbrella of data manipulation techniques to extract information from the raw data. So, Data analytics is the science of examining the accumulated data to arrive at useful information. Basically an algorithmic or manual process to derive insights into the data.

Applications of data science and data analytics are worth explaining because of its huge influence in our personal lives as well as everything around us. Internet search, Digital advertisements and also regular advertisements up to some extent are a major example of data science’s application. There are other applications as well like prediction of weather and other natural disasters and other prediction based applications. Digital advertisements are gradually moving from radio and television to the internet. People contribute most of their personal time on the internet which means they create their own data about their behavior pattern that helps the advertisement companies to analyze and curtail a specified advertisement to his/ her social media page, the super caches allows digital branding and advertisement companies to sell products in an efficient way to a certain niche and demographics as per their need. Now this can have a good as well as bad effects, either it can prove to be super convenient because then no one has to watch irrelevant ads but then it can also lead to manipulation and free will is already under debate so it just complicates things even more. The healthcare industry is a pioneer in the data analytics arena meaning that one of the first industries to harness the technological advancements of data analytic techniques is the healthcare industry. Efficient treatment technique, Patients flow,  and patient future illness prediction are done through new data analytics techniques. Travel and tourism, gaming, oil, and natural resource management are the other major industries using data science for their research and development purposes. The future belongs to those who harness the true power of data in an effective way, those who ignore the true potential of data mining will be left behind soon. As they say, “data is the oil of 21st century”.

The resolution to adopt June 21 as International Yoga Day was introduced in the UN by India’s Ambassador, Ashoke Kumar Mukerji. This yoga is the best thing everyone should do yoga in the morning while the sun rises. The yoga has many benefits in it eventhough it is a simple moments but has many benefits in it. The yoga is an exercise which is used to do exercise for the head and joint pains. Rakul Preet Singh also took to her official social media handle to share how she started her day. The actress began International Yoga Day with Kunjal Kriya, which is a stomach-purification technique. “Started off a Yoga day today by doing Kunjal Kriya, as advised by my holistic nutritionist @munmun. Ganeriwal. In this time only we are all known about this gym and exercises. To keep our body fit without any diseases and to low be fat they were doing yoga. In those they used to do yoga daily, walking in the morning and eating food which is useful for our body. They used to eat food in a large sixe but they worked in the hot sun so much. The yoga is theme is to get fresh air; light and our body must be flexible. The prime minister of India Narendra Modi always encourages the Indian county people to do exercise daily. It is very easy to do than exercises because in exercise many old age people will suffer but in this yoga they do as usual. In yoga there is a exercise called meditation if we do it for 15 minutes are mind get relaxed and we are able to do the things more faster. Modi the prime minister in this day he told that if we do this yoga we can keep corona virus far away.

There are several types of Pranayama, such as suryabhedan Pranayama, chandrabhedan Pranayama, and anulom vilom Pranayama, besides meditations like static and guided. A lot of people are seeking online classes that focus on these.”
She adds that several people are also seeking yoga lessons for their children – “Since children cannot go down to play, many parents are also seeking special kids’ classes and acro yoga lessons for them to keep them occupied and healthy.”

Corporation launches mass cleaning of solid waste in city

About 1,500 sanitation workers will join the special drive to prevent outbreak of vector-borne diseases such as dengue

The Greater Chennai Corporation has started mass cleaning of solid waste and construction debris in the city.

Corporation Deputy Commissioner (Health) Alby John Varghese said the workers had been directed to clear 5,000 tonnes of solid waste and construction debris within 10 days, in addition to the normal conservancy work. “A total of 1,500 sanitation workers will participate in the special drive to clean the city. Another 600 road workers will support,” he said.

Sixty vehicles and 75 compactors would be used for the mass cleaning drive. Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi has directed officers to clean all the solid waste from spaces between tenements of the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board. The removal of solid waste from such areas managed by the TNSCB was to prevent outbreak of vector-borne diseases such as dengue in times of pandemic.

The Corporation has started cleaning the debris and solid waste from vacant plots of land in residential areas after residents complained about unauthorised dumping of waste on private plots. The Corporation teams and private conservancy operators will clear the waste in 10 days, the officials said.

Solid waste accumulated along roads were removed during the mass cleaning on Thursday. On an average, about 5,000 tonnes of solid waste is generated every day in the city. This waste is dumped in Kodungaiyur and Perungudi. The quantity of garbage generated was expected to increase in the next 10 days, because of the clearing of waste in at least 1,000 locations

Extreme Dependency on Computers

Technology has influenced every aspect of our everyday life. No one can undermine the importance of computers in industry, business organizations as well as in our day to day life. Cars, aircrafts, medical equipments and, even traffic signals are managed with the help of computer technology. Nearly all jobs require extensive usage of computers. Running on computerized treadmills in gyms is gaining preference over walking and exercising in parks. In fact computers have altered the way in which we are living in these modern times.

Computer addicts completely withdraw us from our real world and ultimately are drawn deeper into the virtual world. All are moving towards social acceptance without actually knowing one’s own self.

Excessive dependency on computers blurs off the lines of reality and mere fantasy and in extreme cases causes hesitation in communicating and interacting in the real world.

This overwhelming dependency on computers will undoubtedly create negative effects in our life.

BEST 10 IMMUNE BOOSTING FOODS

The food you eat plays a key aspect in determining your overall health and immunity. Eat low carb diets, as this will help control high blood sugar and pressure. A low carb diet will help slow down diabetes and focus on a protein-rich diet to keep you in good shape. And regularly consume vegetables and fruits rich in Beta carotene, Ascorbic acid & other essential vitamins. Certain foods like mushrooms, tomato, bell pepper and green vegetables like broccoli, spinach are also good options to build resilience in the body against infections.

You can also eat supplements rich in omega 3 & 6 fatty acids for your daily dose, if stepping out to buy groceries is not an option during social distancing. Some natural immunity supplements include ginger, gooseberries (amla) and turmeric. Some of these superfoods are common ingredients in Indian dishes and snacks. There are several herbs that help in boosting immunity like garlic, Basel leaves and Black cumin. Certain seeds and nuts like sunflower seeds, Flax seed, pumpkin seeds and melon seeds are excellent sources of protein and vitamin E.

Probiotics like Yoghurt, Yakult and fermented food are also excellent sources to rejuvenate the composition of gut bacteria, which is important for nutrient absorption by the body. These are good options for the older generation too.

Watermelon
It’s not only refreshing. When it’s ripe, it’s also got plenty of an antioxidant called glutathione. It strengthens the immune system so it can fight infection. To get the most glutathione in your watermelon, eat the red pulpy flesh near the rind.

Low-Fat Yogurt
Probiotics, found in yogurt and other fermented products, may ease the severity of colds. Look for labels that say “live and active cultures.”Also look for added vitamin D. Studies show that people with low vitamin D levels may be more likely to get colds or the flu.

Spinach
You’ll find lots of nutrients in this “super food.” One of them is folate, which helps your body make new cells and repair DNA. It also boasts fiber, antioxidants such as vitamin C, and more. Eat spinach raw or lightly cooked to get the most benefit.

Tea
Feel free to choose white, green, or black. Each delivers disease-fighting polyphenols and flavonoids. These antioxidants seek out cell-damaging free radicals and destroy them. Caffeinated and decaf work equally well.

Sweet Potato
Like carrots, sweet potatoes have beta-carotene. In your body that turns into vitamin A, which mops up damaging free radicals. This helps bolster the immune system and may even improve the aging process.

Broccoli
It’s easy to find at the grocery store, and it’s an immune-boosting basic. You’ll get plenty of nutrients that protect your body from damage. It has vitamins A and C, and the antioxidant glutathione. Add to any dish or top with some low-fat cheese to round out a side dish.

Garlic
This kitchen staple does more than punch up the flavor of food. Raw garlic can help beat skin infections thanks to its ability to fight bacteria, viruses, and fungi. To get the benefits, you have to use the real stuff, though, not garlic powder. A garlic supplement may even help lower your cholesterol.

Pomegranate Juice
The ancient Egyptians were on to something when they used this colorful fruit to treat infections. So far, most modern research has focused on pomegranate extract, but the juice shows promise: It may help your body fight bacteria and several kinds of viruses, including the flu.

Ginger
Maybe you love ginger for the spicy kick it gives Asian food. Or because when you drink it in tea or ginger ale, it can ease nausea and vomiting. But wait — there’s more. This knobby root is also a good source of antioxidants. Skip the supplements, though. Add ginger to stir fries or steep it in hot water to make tea. Antioxidants work best in your body when you get them straight from fruits and veggies.

Mushrooms
They give you the mineral selenium and the B vitamins riboflavin and niacin. That helps you in several ways. If you’re low on selenium, you may be more likely to get a more severe flu. Riboflavin and niacin play a role in a healthy immune system.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Women empowerment refers to making women powerful to make them capable of deciding for themselves. Women have suffered a lot through the years at the hands of men. In earlier centuries, they were treated as almost non-existent. As if all the rights belonged to men even something as basic as voting. As the times evolved, women realized their power. There on began the revolution for women empowerment.
As women were not allowed to make decisions for them, women empowerment came in like a breath of fresh air. It made them aware of their rights and how they must make their own place in society rather than depending on a man. It recognized the fact that things cannot simply work in someone’s favor because of their gender. However, we still have a long way to go when we talk about the reasons why we need it.
Need for Women Empowerment
Almost every country, no matter how progressive has a history of ill-treating women. In other words, women from all over the world have been rebellious to reach the status they have today. While the western countries are still making progress, third world countries like India still lack behind in Women Empowerment.

In India, women empowerment is needed more than ever. India is amongst the countries which are not safe for women. There are various reasons for this. Firstly, women in India are in danger of honor killings. Their family thinks its right to take their lives if they bring shame to the reputation of their legacy.
Moreover, the education and freedom scenario is very regressive here. Women are not allowed to pursue higher education, they are married off early. The men are still dominating women in some regions like it’s the woman’s duty to work for him endlessly. They do not let them go out or have freedom of any kind.

In addition, domestic violence is a major problem in India. The men beat up their wife and abuse them as they think women are their property. More so, because women are afraid to speak up. Similarly, the women who do actually work get paid less than their male counterparts. It is downright unfair and sexist to pay someone less for the same work because of their gender. Thus, we see how women empowerment is the need of the hour. We need to empower these women to speak up for themselves and never be a victim of injustice.

How to Empower Women?
There are various ways in how one can empower women. The individuals and government must both come together to make it happen. Education for girls must be made compulsory so that women can become illiterate to make a life for themselves.

Women must be given equal opportunities in every field, irrespective of gender. Moreover, they must also be given equal pay. We can empower women by abolishing child marriage. Various programs must be held where they can be taught skills to fend for themselves in case they face financial crisis.

Most importantly, the shame of divorce and abuse must be thrown out of the window. Many women stay in abusive relationships because of the fear of society. Parents must teach their daughters it is okay to come home divorced rather than in a coffin.

Gender gap: The oldest unfinished business

Photo by Chelsi Peter on Pexels.com

The systemic problem of the gender gap is one of the oldest unresolved issues. It has historical roots that bind the society to date. The gender performance of India has not been very motivating. The parity is visible in almost every field. Right from birth sex ratio, educational enrolment to employment participation of women, we lag by a lot compared to the developed countries of the world. Just to give a glimpse of this tragic truth let’s browse through some data, indices and reports.

— The sex ratio of India is 899 females per 1000 males according to NITI Aayog. This number is variable across the country. The sustainable development goals (SDG) index released by the NITI Aayog shows inter-state parity. Chhattisgarh has a sex ratio of 958 was the best performer, while Uttarakhand emerged as the worst-performing state with 840 females per 1000 males.
Sex ratio at birth is 934 in 2019-20.
Gross enrolment ratio (GER) of girls in school at the secondary level is 81.32 (2018-19-provisional figures).
Female labour force participation rate of India is 24.5% (2018-19) while the global average is 45%.
Global Gender Gap report of 2021 that was released by the world economic forum (WEF) ranked India 140 among 156 countries, making India the third worst performer among the south Asian countries. Four thematic dimensions were assessed that are-
1. Economic participation and opportunity
2. Health and Survival
3. Educational Attainment
4. Political Empowerment
India’s performance was comparatively good in health and survival indicators.
Reproductive health report 2021 titled ‘My Body is my health’ published by United Nations population Fund (UNFPA) showed a dismal state of women’s access to bodily autonomy across borders.

These statistics mirror the gender parity in India. Although there is still not a single country where both, males and females, are exactly equals but many are close to the target. India still has a long way to go. The reasons behind the poor performance are many but the two most important areas follows.

—Patriarchal society and the inherent rigidities resist reforms that can help in women empowerment. The mindset of the people is the biggest culprits. Consciously or unconsciously they enforce norms that are antithetic to the empowerment of women. We need not look for examples outside. Most of the households in India show such behaviours.
— The lax attitude of the political leadership is another factor. The political participation of women is a testament to this fact. This insensitivity in governance is reflected in the numerous controversial judicial pronouncements.

Not everything is bad for women in India. The silver lining for us women is the fact that people are willing to fight for the cause. The government and the international community recognises the issue and through joint efforts, they have improved the situation. Schemes like Beti bachao, Beti padhao, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, schemes to attract women in STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) streams, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Medical termination of pregnancy act are all examples of these efforts. The list is long but when we assess the performance we find that developments are snail-paced. The fight for equal rights on paper might be over but the fight for its realisation continues.

LinkedIn filed for an initial public offering in January 2011. The company traded its first shares on May 19, 2011, under the NYSE symbol “LNKD”, at $45 per share. Shares of LinkedIn rose as much as 171% on their first day of trade on the New York Stock Exchange and closed at $94.25, more than 109% above IPO price. Shortly after the IPO, the site’s underlying infrastructure was revised to allow accelerated revision-release cycles.[8] In 2011, LinkedIn earned $154.6 million in advertising revenue alone, surpassing Twitter, which earned $139.5 million.[29] LinkedIn’s fourth-quarter 2011 earnings soared because of the company’s increase in success in the social media world.[30] By this point, LinkedIn had about 2,100 full-time employees compared to the 500 that it had in 2010.[31]

In April 2014, LinkedIn announced that it had leased 222 Second Street, a 26-story building under construction in San Francisco’s SoMa district, to accommodate up to 2,500 of its employees,[32] with the lease covering 10 years.[33] The goal was to join all San Francisco-based staff (1,250 as of January 2016) in one building, bringing sales and marketing employees together with the research and development team.[33] They started to move in in March 2016.[33] In February 2016, following an earnings report, LinkedIn’s shares dropped 43.6% within a single day, down to $108.38 per share. LinkedIn lost $10 billion of its market capitalization that day.[34][35]

In 2016, access to LinkedIn was blocked by Russian authorities for non-compliance with the 2015 national legislation that requires social media networks to store citizens’ personal data on servers located in Russia.[36]

On June 13, 2016, Microsoft announced that it would acquire LinkedIn for $196 a share, a total value of $26.2 billion and the largest acquisition made by Microsoft to date. The acquisition would be an all-cash, debt-financed transaction. Microsoft would allow LinkedIn to “retain its distinct brand, culture and independence”, with Weiner to remain as CEO, who would then report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Analysts believed Microsoft saw the opportunity to integrate LinkedIn with its Office product suite to help better integrate the professional network system with its products. The deal was completed on December 8, 2016.[37]

In late 2016, LinkedIn announced a planned increase of 200 new positions in its Dublin office, which would bring the total employee count to 1,200.[38]

As of 2017, 94% of B2B marketers use LinkedIn to distribute content.[39]

Soon after LinkedIn’s acquisition by Microsoft, on January 19, 2017, LinkedIn’s new desktop version was introduced.[40] The new version was meant to make the user experience seamless across mobile and desktop. Some of the changes were made according to the feedback received from the previously launched mobile app. Features that were not heavily used were removed. For example, the contact tagging and filtering features are not supported anymore.[41]

Following the launch of the new user interface (UI), some users, complained about the missing features which were there in the older version, slowness, and bugs in it. The issues were faced by both free and premium users, and with both the desktop version and the mobile version of the site.

In 2019, LinkedIn launched globally the feature Open for Business that enables freelancers to be discovered on the platform.[42][43] LinkedIn Events was launched in the same year.[44][45]

In June 2020, Jeff Weiner stepped down as CEO and become executive chairman after 11 years in the role. Ryan Roslansky stepped up as CEO from his previous position as the senior vice president of product.[46]

In late July 2020, LinkedIn announced it laid off 960 employees, about 6 percent of total workforce, from the talent acquisition and global sales teams. In an email to all employees, CEO Ryan Roslansky said the cuts were due to effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic.[47]

In April 2021, CyberNews claimed that 500 million LinkedIn’s accounts have leaked online.[48] However, LinkedIn stated that “We have investigated an alleged set of LinkedIn data that has been posted for sale and have determined that it is actually an aggregation of data from a number of websites and companies”.[49][50]

DC Motor- Construction and its Working

What is a DC Motor?

DC machines can be classified into two types called as DC Motor and DC Generator. An Electrical Motor is a machine which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. In a DC motor, we supply it with direct current which is then converted into mechanical rotation or energy. DC motor was invented in 1886 by William Sturgeon. There are a lot of applications of DC motor like fans, elevator, cranes, etc. A DC motor can run on DC supply as well as single phase AC supply.

Construction of DC Motor

Construction Of DC Motor

Different parts of DC Motor are:

  • Armature or Rotor: The armature of a DC motor is a rotating part that rotates on its axis. It is a cylinder of magnetic laminations that are insulated from one another. The armature is perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder and is separated from the field coil by an air gap.
  • Field Coil or Stator: It is a non-moving part on which winding is wound to produce a magnetic field. This electromagnet has a cylindrical cavity between its poles.
  • Pole: It is an electromagnet and the field winding is wounded on pole. Whenever field winding is energized then the pole gives magnetic flux. The materials used for this are cast steel, cast iron. It can be built with the annealed steel laminations for reducing the power drop because of the eddy currents.
  • Commutator: It is a cylindrical structure that is made of copper segments stacked together but insulated from each other. The primary function of a commutator is to supply electrical current to the armature winding. It helps in producing steady rotating torque.
  • Brushes: The brushes of a DC motor are made with graphite and carbon structure. These brushes conduct electric current from the external circuit and provide it to the rotating commutator.

Working of DC Motor

The Working principle of DC motor is, when kept in a magnetic field, a current-carrying conductor gains torque and develops a tendency to move. So, when electric fields and magnetic fields interact, a mechanical force arises. This is the principle on which the DC motors work.

Production of torque in a DC Motor

A magnetic field arises in the air gap when the field coil of the DC motor is energised. The created magnetic field is in the direction of the radii of the armature. The magnetic field enters the armature from the North Pole side of the field coil and “exits” the armature from the field coil’s South Pole side. The conductors located on the other pole are subjected to a force of the same intensity but in the opposite direction. These two opposing forces create a torque that causes the motor armature to rotate.

Applications of DC Motor:

There are various applications for which DC motor is used:

  • Lathe Machine
  • Fans
  • Machine tools
  • Drilling Machine
  • Conveyors
  • Cranes
  • Elevators, etc.

In Ceiling Fans, DC motor fans are preferred because they are less nisy and consume less energy than the AC motor fans. They alllso have different speed options to them.

CRYPTO TODAY

Cryptocurrency prices continue to be in the red on June 21. The global cryptocurrency market cap is $1.48 trillion, a 0.44 percent decrease over the last day. The total crypto market volume over the last 24 hours is $80.63 billion, which makes a 15.58 percent increase. The volume of all stable coins is now $64.06 billion – 79.44 percent of the total crypto market 24-hour volume. Bitcoin’s price is currently $35,535.03 and its dominance is currently 44.89 percent, an increase of 0.27 percent over the day.

UFO report by US military

Term UFO means ‘Unidentified Flying Object’. The US government formed Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) within Office of Naval intelligence (United states department of defence) in the year 2020. Its purpose is to study unidentified flying object in the US airspace. US navy prefer to call the unknown aerial objects as “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena”

According to the report by u.s defence, the intelligence team have not found any evidence that proves the Unknown flying objects witnessed in recent years to be an alien activity but also have no explanation regarding the phenomenon found flying unusually. Over 120 incidents that occurred in the past 2 decades were not because of U.S military or any advanced U.S government technology. Most of them were reported by US Navy personnel and the remining were from foreign militaries.

The Defence department of U.S had released 3 declassified videos of Unexplained aerial phenomena to clarify the authenticity of circulating videos. These footages of UFO’s were leaked in 2007 and 2017. There is something out there worth finding out.

RIGHT TO INTERNET AS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT

Fundamental rights meant a vital component in the Constitution of India. It has been stated in the Part III of the Constitution, under the Article 12 to 35 and is also defined as Magna Carta of India. The fundamental rights are aimed to promote the ideal for the political democracy in India. They protect the rights and liberties of the citizens, and at the same time, prevent the establishment of an authoritarian and despotic rule in the country. The fundamental rights are provided to all the individuals without any type of discrimination or exclusion. They uphold the equality and dignity of the individuals and maintain the unity among the people.

Should cybersecurity be a human right?

NEED TO RECOGNISE RIGHT TO INTERNET AS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT

The world today is complex and concise; the individuals have been performing their activities through mobile phones and related devices that demands internet access to function properly. The internet is an ocean of information with helps the users to stay updated and connected with the things going around them. Therefore, Broadband and mobile internet can be considered as a lifeline for the people around the world.

Internet is an important component for to citizen to regulate and check the government functioning. As it plays a key role in accessing the information and take decisions accordingly. Being a residence of a democratic nation, Indian citizens have the right to keep a check on and observe the activities of the government and concern authorities, internet becomes an easy and valuable source of these information. The people are able to update themselves with all the ongoing activities and upcoming projects through their mobile phones with the facility of internet. Initially, only newspapers were available to know the happenings, whereas, today the news can reach the people even before in is printed and delivered through the newspaper.

Internet and broadband have been a bliss for the boost of the technological industry. There has been a remarkable expansion in the field of science and technology with the assistance of internet. We can observe the growth of the online applications that help an individual to order food, such as Zomato, swiggy, etc. some other apps can help to book for a mechanic or even the beautician, an individual can now call a cab at their door steps just with one click; this is the implications of the internet.

During the Covid-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown, the individuals were able to practice work-from-home only because of the availability of internet. Under such circumstance, right to internet becomes necessary to promote the right to education. The schools have started teaching the students through online mode, even the examinations, activities, assignments, etc. are conducted online; thus, internet becomes necessary to attend the classes. The internet has ensured the continuation of the regular activities of the individuals in a different manner but accurately.

INTERNET AS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT

Recently, there has been a debate over the inclusion of the Right to internet under the fundamental rights. It was emphasised that the Right to Internet must be included under the Right to freedom along with the Right to Speech and Expression. Kerala High Court in Faheema Shirin vs State of Kerala (2019) declared the Right Internet access as a fundamental right forming a part of the Right to Privacy and the Right to Education under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.

In present digital world where almost, every service is being digitised, it is important to recognise the Right to Internet access as an independent right. Court observed that the internet acts as a learning tool and nobody can impose restrictions on it, citing discipline.

Human Rights Council of the United Nations also regards the Right of access to the Internet as a fundamental freedom and a tool to ensure the Right to education. Also, the Supreme Court has declared that access to the internet is protected under Article 19 of the Constitution.

CHALLENGES BEFORE UNIFORM INTERNET ACCESS

Though, the recognition of such a fundamental right is laudable, it does have reasonable restrictions under specified circumstances. The judgement gave administration space to restrict internet access on the condition that it’s proportionate to the problem identified. This formulation seems fuzzy and could provide enough scope for administration to justify internet snap-offs in various cases Further, a digital divide in the economy would render a sizeable proportion of the population unable to enjoy the fundamental right to Internet. This will eventually lead furthering of social disparities. Moreover, the rising number of cyber related crimes would leave more people susceptible in absence of proper guidelines related to the Right to Internet access.

CONCLUSION

Internet itself is a great force which has shackled the monotony and global order by its brute force. Anything which has power can be used in both good and bad ways as we know internet can be a boon and bane at same time. It rests with the people after recognizing internet as fundamental right how to utilize the power that comes with internet. Both good and bad powers have large implication on the lives of people. As both Supreme and High Courts through various judgements in country have to strike balance between nights of individuals and right of state, preservation of balance should be of utmost importance to enable individual to become a balanced and responsible citizen.

The Right to Internet access and digital literacy will empower citizens with increased access to information, services and the creation of better livelihood opportunities.

WHAT’S THE NEWS FROM SOUTHAMPTON?

Today is the fourth day of the final test of the World Test Championship, which is being played between the table toppers India and the second place holders New Zealand. Though being the fourth day, only three day game has been seen, as the first day was completely washed off due to rain. Similar is the senario of the forth day, today. According to BCCI’s tweet, Rain may play spoilsport on fourth day in Southampton. There was rain earlier and thick clouds are still surrounding. Even if the rain stops, the pitch is under covers and it might take time for the outfield to dry, costing us no play in the first session. Now the question arises, was ICC not aware of the weather conditions? Why choose England as a spot for the ultimate test when every body knew this was gonna happen?

UGC questions Christ University over online exams

The regional office of the University Grants Commission (UGC) has questioned the decision of Christ deemed-to-be-university to conduct its end semester examinations in the online format.

In a letter to the university, the UGC South West Regional Office also brought into question the institute’s mode of evaluation.

The letter was based on complaints the commission’s office received from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and from students.

The students’ body had sought that the university not rely on artificial intelligence (AI) and proctored mode (invigilated online) of evaluation. NSUI suggested alternative methods of examination such as open book and assignment-based ones, and also demanded that it be taken into confidence while framing the policy for evaluation.

UGC education officer Latha KC confirmed to The New Indian Express that the university was asked to consider the students’ requests, and not “target them”.

“If the institute fails to implement these directions, it could invite punitive action,” the letter states.

The regional office asked the university to reconsider holding its online remote proctored end-term examinations as the move was an “unilateral policy formulated without consulting the students or taking into account the students’ best interests”.

It pointed out that students did not have access to the library after physical classes were suspended, and some teachers did not even provide proper study material. The syllabus was not also completed before the examinations, it said in the letter.

“Students had only around four weeks of classes to complete almost 70-75 per cent of the syllabus, resulting in the syllabus of many subjects remaining unfinished,” said the letter.

The proposed remote proctored examination is not a sound evaluation policy, it added about the AI’s technological limitations failing to account for practical difficulties of students, and requiring them to have uninterrupted electricity and internet connections.

Latha said that the university was yet to respond to the letter. “Although there are separate bureaus (for deemed-to-be-universities), here the complaint was by students during the pandemic, and the regional offices should respond,” she said.

Christ Vice-Chancellor Dr Fr Abraham VM told The New Indian Express that students were given a chance to write physically proctored examination if they were unable to attend the online one. “How can they (UGC regional office) ask us to adhere to the NSUI’s demand?” he said, adding that the exams started for the junior semesters on Friday, and was attended by 1,430 out of 1,450 students.

Meanwhile, the university’s student council stated that it has been kept informed and was consulted on holding the exams through the online software Mettl platform.

yoga

The word “yoga” itself is like complete science which unites body, mind, soul and universe. Yoga derives from the ‘use metal’ of Sanskrit language, which means that the soul’s union with God means that yoga has so much power, that it can make you attain immortality. Some people understand yoga as simple and easy but it is more than that. Yoga is a spiritual discipline, in which the whole of life is imbibed. It is a science, as it provides practical ways to control the body and mind, making deep meditation possible. And it is art, unless it is practiced spontaneously and sensitively, it will only give superficial results. Yoga is not just a system of beliefs, but it takes into account the effects of body and mind, and brings them into mutual harmony. Yoga works primarily by the propagation of energy in the body through pranayama, or energy control. Yoga teachers how, through breath control, a higher place of mind and awareness can be attained.

HISTORY OF YOGA-

There is no written evidence available about the discovery of yoga, but it is believed that yoga oriented in our country India. The 2000 year old “Yoga Sutra”, written by the Indian sage Patanjali on Yoga philosophy, is considered to be a complete guide to control the mind and emotions, and develop spiritually. The Yoga Sutra is one of the oldest text of Yoga in existence. It provides the framework for all modern yogas. Yoga is quite famous for its postures and rugs. Fitness was not the primary goal of yoga, but seekers and followers of yoga practice also focused on other practices, such as expanding spiritual energy using respiratory methods and mental meditation. Even after such an old history, yoga started gaining popularity towards the end of the 20th century. After the 1920s and 1930s there was an explosion of interest in yoga, first in India and later in the West.

Yoga originated as an ancient practice whose specimens of origin originated in India around 4000 BC. Stone carved figures of yoga postures can be found in the Indus Valley, reflecting native postures and practices. Yoga was developed to establish harmony between heart and soul on the path of divine enlightenment. Also, it was discovered that yoga also helps in curing many diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure and reduce physical injuries and chronic pain. Yoga has helped in curing many diseases. And as yoga is becoming increasingly popular outside India and in so many different cultures, the practice has been transformed into teachings and and means in many different schools.

BENEFITS OF YOGA-

How can more job opportunities be created in India?

With the increase in population through these years in India, the unemployment rate has taken a massive hike. While the government fails to create more and more job opportunities, the talented lot of our country continues to move to foreign countries in search of better job opportunities, a better pay and a better lifestyle overall. But how can we try to fix this problem?

The first field on which we shall focus for more job creations and greater productivity is of course-

1. Awareness. Most of the people in the rural areas have immense talent but these areas lack a medium of awareness. The main source of distribution of the awareness and developement is done through television. But most of the people of the rural areas don’t have TVs at home, so I propose the government does it through pamphlets and banners. The government can also set up a small committee in every district to recruit people from a village who are capable enough to send them for higher education. For this purpose, funds can be raised by the village or by the government. The testing for this would be done by many practical and psychometric tests.

2. Education- The schools and especially government schools should have a curriculum where they focus on practical studies equivalently. They should be given more case studies and be made aware of the upcoming opportunities and internships. The quality and focus of studies in government schools too require a lot of improvement.

3. A lot of India’s best talent is immigrating to countries like the US, UK, etc. because of better pay and lifestyle. Here, I propose the government increase the pay scale for projects and reduce corruption, plus they should also keep a strict check on the project deadline.

4. India should impose stricter laws on multinational companies investing in India so that the unskilled labor force can work there and gain experience without the fear of exploitation.

5. Investment in better technology and infrastructure- Investing in technology is a massive multiplier. It will lead to the creation of many prestigious and well-paying jobs.

6. Encouraging tax free start ups, not just in metros but also in villages can help to a lot of extent. Even farming sector can be “corporatised” with the use of technology in produce , supply chain, research, survey and so on and this needs the effective use of technology.

Whereas, infrastructural reforms will lead to more people being employed in the sector and hence, more job creations. Better infrastructure will also attract more tourists while can serve as a means of a improved lifestyle for geeral shopkeepers.

Personally, I feel that the development of ‘skills’ in the Indian youth can only be engraved through a curriculum that focuses on practice and working of the brains and not only cramming. We need disposable income to spend, for which we need a strong growing economy which is the responsibility of the government. The programs of the government need to include classes on this issue even outside of school (and even online).

How To Gain Weight Without Getting Unfit

Usually people gain weight because they are tired of getting mocked and bullied by everyone about their body and they just want to gain weight and transform themselves. When someone talks about gaining weight the first things comes to mind is eat more than normal and that’s right but there are two ways of gaining weight eating healthy food and getting a fit body, the second one is dirty bulking in simple language people start eating a lot food without even thinking about its nutritional values and how harmful it can be for your body, they usually start eating alot of junk food like pizza, burger, patties and sweets which has alot of unhealthy fats and by this way you might gain weight but you will only put on fat and end up being unhealthy you will lose all your strength and stamina this method will make you a lazy person who can’t play any sport or any physical activity.

Right way of gaining weight

First of all check do you actually have to gain weight for checking it weigh yourself ,measure your height and check your BMI which is body mass index by any BMI calculator if you are underweight then you need to gain weight but if you weight is in ideal weight category then you don’t have to gain weight and if you need a better physique you can join a gym and start weight training for making your body big and fit. If, your weight category is in underweight category then you actually need to bulk or gain weight. The first step and the most basic step is start eating in a calorie surplus, now what is a calorie surplus diet? Calorie surplus diet is a type of diet in which you need to eat more calories than your maintenance calories and maintenance calories are the minimum amount of calories your body needs to perform all types of actions in a day without losing or gaining weight. You have eat more calories than your maintenance calories and have to increase your calorie intake by 300 to 500 calories per day.

Start tracking your food, it helps alot to gain weight and know your food intake sometimes we think we are eating more than usual but we are not actually completing our daily calorie intake and end up having the same weight. You track your food by measuring it, take a kitchen weighing scale and weigh everything before eating it then calculate the amount of calories in it by using a calorie calculator app I personally use and prefer My Fitness Pal mobile app it is available on both iOS and Android. MENSTRUAL HYGIENE: A MATTER OF CONCERN

INTRODUCTION
Menstrual hygiene: A challenging development issue
The major reasons behind menstruation still being a taboo in the Indian society are illiteracy, poverty and lack of awareness.

WHAT IS MENSTRUATIONS?
The blood coming out from vagina normally occurs as part of a woman’s monthly cycle called menstruation or periods. Every month, our body prepares for pregnancy. The uterus, or womb, sheds its lining in case of no pregnancy . The menstrual blood is partly blood and partly tissue from inside the uterus. We can say that periods are the onset of puberty in girls. During this time a girl goes through several physical and psychological changes in her body. It is associated with bleeding along with stomach ache , nausea as well as mood swings.
After the onset of puberty , it brings various rules, restrictions, isolation and changed expectations in the girls life by the society. These changes in attitude towards girls such as restrictions on their self expressions, schooling, mobility and freedom has far reaching consequences on the mindset of women.
MENSTRUATION- A TABOO
In the Indian society menstruation is still considered as a taboo. Till now, adolescent girls are not given proper information about menstruation. People create major hurdles in educating girls about menstrual hygiene.

Mothers also don’t talk with their daughters about this topic because they feel shy while expressing the terms. Another reason they don’t discuss this topic is because most of them lack scientific knowledge on puberty and menstruation.
Most of the people in India, especially the girls are illiterate. This is one of the reasons for which menstruation is still a relevant taboo in our Indian society. The other important reasons are poverty and lack of awareness about menstrual health and hygiene.
Very less number (less than 18 percent) of Indian women use sanitary pads.

According to the latest National Family and Health Survey 58 per cent of young Indian women (15-24 years) use a hygienic method of protection (mostly sanitary pads) which is a significant increase from the 12 percent using pads in 2010. This is a consequence of greater attention to menstrual hygiene management over the past few years in India. This not only prevails in the Indian society but is a global issue.

On a global level, at least 500 million women and girls lack adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management. The lack in appropriate information on sanitation and hygiene facilities, especially in public places like schools, workplaces or health centres can pose a major obstacle to women and girls.

In many families women’s freedom is still in the hands of patriarchal discourse. With the evolution of these cultures, there has not been any significant change in people’s attitudes and mentality towards menstruation.

In some families menstruation is still denoted as an unclean or embarrassing thing. For them even mentioning menstruation in public or private places is embarrassing. Most girls feel embarrassed to go to a medical store to buy sanitary pads for them. There are also many girls who cannot afford to buy the Sanitary Napkins.

Most of the girls in financially unprivileged families drop out of school when they begin to menstruate. More than 77 percent of girls and women in India use an old cloth, which is often reused, ashes, newspapers, dried leaves and husk sand during periods.

During these periods women are not allowed to participate in day-to-day activities. They are not allowed to enter the house or carry in with their household chores. They are even restricted from entering the kitchens. They are restricted from entering the temple. They are not even allowed to any sacred places and also not allowed to perform any rituals. They are restricted from doing all these works because they think that a menstruating woman is impure and everything she touches turns impure or bad. They think after menstruation a woman must be purified before entering the house or other places.
While menstruating, a woman goes through several psychological trauma and mood swings . During this time they should be given proper care but instead they are treated poorly by the society.

CONCLUSION
To prevent the troubles faced by the menstruating women in our society, we must give them proper education about menstrual health and hygiene, provide financial support or distribute sanitary napkins to the unprivileged women so that they don’t have to suffer the ill fate.

EFFECTS OF POVERTY IN INDIA

INRODUCTION:-
The situation in which a person remains underprivileged from the basic necessities of life is called poverty. The person does not have an adequate supply of food to eat, shelter to stay, and clothes to wear. Most of the people in India are suffering from poverty. They cannot afford to pay even for a single meal a day. They sleep on the roadside and wear dirty clothes. They do not get healthy and nutritious food. They don’t get any medicine and other necessary things either.

POVERTY IN INDIA:-
CAUSES OF POVERTY
The rate of poverty in India is increasing because urbanisation is increasing everyday. The people from rural areas are migrating to cities to find better employment. To provide the necessary needs of the family these people end up getting an underpaid job or an activity that pays only for their food. Most importantly, around crores of urban people are below the poverty line and many of the people are on the borderline of poverty.

Maximum people who are suffering in these poverty live in low-lying areas or slums. Most of the people are illiterate and for this reason in spite of efforts their condition remains the same and there is no satisfactory result.

There are many more reasons which can be said as the major causes of poverty in India. These causes include corruption, growing population, poor agriculture, the wide gap between rich and poor, old customs, illiteracy, unemployment and many more. Many people are engaged in an agricultural activity but in comparison to the earnings of other employees they get paid very less.

The more the population is, the more need of food ,houses and money. The deficiency in these needs results in the high growth of poverty. Thus as a result the difference and gaps between the extra rich and extra poor keeps on increasing.

The rich are growing richer and the poor are getting poorer resulting in the formation of an economic gap that is difficult to fill up.
EFFECTS Of POVERTY:-
Poverty affects the lives of people in many ways. It has various effects like illiteracy, reduced nutrition and diet, poor housing, child labor, unemployment, poor hygiene and lifestyle, and feminization of poverty, etc. These poor people are unable to afford a healthy and balanced diet, nice clothes, proper education, a stable and clean house, etc. because all these facilities require money and they don’t even have money to feed two meals a day.

EFFECTS OF POVERTY ON CHILDREN:-
Poverty in India impacts children, families and individuals in a variety of different ways through:

High infant mortality
Malnutrition
Child labour
Lack of education
High infant mortality
Every year at least 1.4 million children die in India before their fifth birthday. In addition to Nigeria, Pakistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and China, India is one of the countries with the highest child mortality rates. Most frequent causes of death of children are Pneumonia, malaria and diarrheal diseases as well as chronic malnutrition.

Malnutrition
India is one of the world’s top countries when it comes to malnutrition. In India most of the people cannot afford to pay for even one meal. More than 200 million people don’t get adequate quantities of food among which 61million are children. 7.8 million infants were found to have a birth weight of less than 2.5 kilograms.

Child labour – no time to play and learn
As we all know, in India child labour for children under the age of 14 is prohibited by law, 12.5 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are working. In reality, there are more than 65 million children between 6 and 14 years old who do not go to school. Instead, for the sake of their family and to secure survival it is believed that Indian children contribute to the livelihood of their families; they work in the field, in factories, in quarries, in private households and in prostitution.

Lack of education – no opportunities without education
According to UNICEF, about 25% of children in India cannot afford education. The number of children excluded from school is higher among girls than boys. Under Indian law, women and men are treated equally but in the lower social caste girls and women are considered inferior. They are dominated by their fathers, brothers and husbands. The chances of finding a living wage from employment in India is virtually hopeless without education.

Due to poverty, many parents encourage early marriages for their daughters in hopes of better lives for them.

THE SOLUTIONS FOR ENDING POVERTY:-
For solving the problem of poverty it is necessary for us to act quickly and correctly. Some of the ways of solving these problems are to provide proper facilities to farmers. So that they can make profit from agriculture and do not have to migrate to urban cities in search of employment.

Illiterate people can live a better life if they are provided with required training. Everyone should follow family planning to check the rise in population.
We should take measures to end corruption, so that we can deal with the gap between rich and poor.

CONCLUSION:-
Poverty is not the problem of a single person but also of the whole nation.. We should deal with it on an urgent basis by taking effective measures. Eradication of poverty has become necessary for the sustainable and inclusive growth of people, society, country, and economy.

Body Positivty Movement

Body positivity leads to the assertion that all people justify having a confident body image, despite how community and culture aspect perfect appearance, size, and shape. This orthodox mentality gave a spark to the body positivity movement. Influencers started posting about their insecurities. It converged on disputing how the culture views the body shape and promoting every body type. The people healed each other to be self-sufficient and accept their bodies. Influencers labeled the unreal body standards. Body positivity is not just about questioning how society views people based on their natural shape and size; however, it also acknowledges that comments are often made based on nationality, gender, sexuality, and inability. Having a wholesome body picture plays a role in how people feel about their presence and even how they estimate their self-worth. Research advises that having a negative body image is associated with an augmented risk for mental conditions like depression and eating complications. Body positivity helps to nurture acceptance and endure your body, but it can be a conflict that computes another portion of pressure and impossible measures to live. Body positivity teaches you to change the way you feel about your body; the movement encourages you to flaunt your insecurities and embrace yourself. Solely directing people to accept themselves and be rebounding in the face of the barrage of images elevating the thin model can be hazardous. Telling people to overlook the imperious beauty ideal is not sensible. It can generate more trouble for somebody who is already feeling anxious, uneasy, and devaluated. Society tells oneself that they are full of flaws; yet directs that they must have a positive attitude. Not feeling confident about your body can then lead to disgrace and guilt. It does not imply that you should not say kind things or think assertive thoughts about yourself. But utterly covering up negative thoughts with positive advice may be harmful. A better approach would be to work on replacing negative thinking patterns with further practical ones. Whether or not the body positivity journey speaks to you, there are beliefs from this program that may benefit you to feel better about your body and petty obsessed with ousting “perfection.”
It’s okay to reveal that you do not certainly admire everything about your body. It’s okay to feel vague or even neutral about your body. Your value does not lie in your size or your shape, or any other features of your appearance. Body perception does perform a part in self-concept, but believe it or not- it is not everything.

None of this stuff is easy. It takes eternal effort, and in the majority of events, it is not something you can flawlessly accomplish. There will be times when you feel frail, when you condemn appearances of yourself, and when you associate yourself with others people. The solution is to keep aspiring to discover different routes to dodge the neutralizing thought models that offer poor body perception. Remember to be calm and give it some time. It can take a year, but once you achieve the goal- you will realize that it was all worth it.

Don’t like exercising in a gym? Try a hiking workout instead

Hiking is not only a great way to get outside in nature, it also has plenty of physical and mental health benefits for those who take part.

Before COVID-19, the popularity of hiking was on a downward slope in both adults and children. But its popularity has spiked during the pandemic, seeing many more people taking to trails than usual. Hiking is not only a great way to get outside in nature, it also has plenty of physical and mental health benefits for those who take part.Hiking differs in many way from taking a regular stroll around your neighbourhood. Not only is the terrain on many hiking routes uneven or rocky, there’s also typically some change in elevation, such as going up or down hills. People also tend to wear different footwear – such as hiking boots – which can be heavier than what they’re used to wearing. These differences in terrain and footwear mean hiking has a higher energy expenditure (more calories burned) than walking on flat ground does. This is due to the fact that we need to use more muscles to stabilise ourselves when walking on uneven terrain. While brisk walking at a speed of around 5km/h uses up to four times as much energy as sitting down and resting, hiking through fields and hills uses over five times. This means you can achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity without even needing to go for a run or head to the gym.The benefits of getting enough exercise are clear. Not only will it improve your physical health, sleep and stress management, exercise also reduces your chances of developing certain chronic diseases, such as dementia, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression and certain cancers. In older adults, some research suggests hiking may be able to improve hypertension.Hiking is also beneficial even for those with pre-existing health conditions. Research shows hiking leads to weight loss and improves cardiovascular health in pre-diabetic adults, likely reducing their risk of getting type 2 diabetes. It’s also been shown to improve other aspects of health, including muscle strength, balance and flexibility in older adults with obesity. Even those who suffer with balance issues or joint problems can hike – as trekking poles may be able to reduce the load on the legs. The popular form of hiking called Nordic walking – where participants use trekking poles to help them along – is also shown to engage the upper body and increase the intensity of the walking. Research shows this form of hiking increases cardiovascular health, weight loss, and muscle strength in people without any pre-existing health conditions, as well as those with chronic conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease.A further health benefit of hiking is that it’s classed as “green exercise”. This refers to the added health benefit that doing physical activity in nature has on us. Research shows that not only can green exercise decrease blood pressure, it also benefits mental wellbeing by improving mood and reducing depression to a greater extent than exercising indoors can. This is why some research suggests healthcare professionals should recommend hiking to patients as a low-cost way of improving health where possible. In England, there’s even an initiative being piloted by the National Health Service to assess the health impacts of green prescribing – where patients are being prescribed outdoor activities – such as hiking or gardening – to improve their mental and physical health.Get outdoors Even if you’ve never hiked before, it’s easy to get started. There are plenty of apps you can download on your phone to help you navigate and find routes. These usually work with your GPS and are even easy to follow for those who have a poor sense of direction. You can also try the 1,000 mile challenge if you want to start hiking. This encourages people to walk 1,000 miles in a year. This has helped many people – including my own parents – to be more active, especially during COVID-19

If you have a young family (or simply want to make hiking more interesting), a more interactive way of getting out into nature is geocaching. This is where you following a GPS route to a location where someone has hidden a box or trinket of some kind. You can also record what you’ve found using an app. Geocaching is a worldwide phenomenon, so can be done almost anywhere in the world.Hiking is a great way to get active and improve mental and physical wellbeing. And with many of us still likely to be vacationing locally this year, it can be a great way to get away from home and explore new sights.Lindsay Bottoms, Reader in Exercise and Health Physiology, University of Hertfordshire.

7TH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

Researchers say a healthy mind in a healthy body is the key to a happy life. There are many ways in which you can exercise you mind, doing crosswords, sudoku etc. But, to keep your body healthy you have to just, exercise. When we think of exercise we always think of going to the gym, staying slim and fit, and if its boys having biceps and being strong.

It isn’t just that. Exercise also includes just doing minimum workouts in order to keep your body active. In fact, it is tailormade for each and every person. Some might be satisfied with a 30 minute work out five days a week, some might need to have at a 2 hour session in order to go through their day.

Yoga, is a form of exercise which involves both body and mind and provides relief both physically and mentally if properly practiced. Yoga has a strong origin in India over 5,000 years ago and it has been mentioned in ancient sacred texts of Rig Veda. To honor the ancient practice of a form of meditation, the International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually since 21st June, 2015 after it had been incepted by the United General Assembly.

The date of 21st June was chosen because it is the longest day of the year and most of world share the special importance on that day. This date was suggested by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in the UN.

There are many competitions and events conducted on this day, which involves thousands of people gathering in large grounds in the early hours in the morning and doing Yoga as one. Obviously, because of the pandemic and the national lockdown, people have been stuck at home. But still the spirit of staying in shape has not died down. Government of India and Ministry of Ayush has been conducting various events and competitions, one of which this year is, “Be With Yoga, Be At Home”.

Anyone above the age of 18 can film a one-minute video of them doing yoga in the comfort of their home and uploading it in any one or more social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, tagging the hashtags #bewithyogabeathome and the Ministry of Ayush, before 30th June. The link to their post can be submitted in the MyGov website in order to participate in the competition.

Until yesterday, almost 4000 people have submitted their video in the website. This is just an awareness for maintaining physical health because this pandemic has locked us in our home and given us little chance to have physical movements. It is important for us to maintain our physical health which will also help us have a positive mindset, especially during this trying times.

It has been prescribed by doctors for patients of Covid-19 to do simple breathing exercises in order to increase their lung capacity because it is the lung that gets mostly affected with this virus. Breathing exercise such as Pranayama and Kapalbathi are also a part of Yoga and helps reduce the chances of contracting the virus. It is not only recommended for patients, but for others to practice breathing exercise during dawn to remain healthy. At the end of the day, isn’t that what we all want?

Overpopulation Effects

Overpopulation can have several effects on the environment, as well as other species within an ecological system. Indeed, human overpopulation has resulted in technological advances which have increased human lifespan and fertility, and consequently placed pressure on global resources. Such effects are such that the planet is currently in a novel geological epoch called the Anthropocene. In general, overpopulation results in an ecological disruption as resources are depleted. This disruption can lead to the decline of other populations which compete for the same resources. Typically, such effects result in the cycling between periods of population growth and periods of population decline until it can reach homeostasis within a particular ecological niche. Some examples of naturally regulated population growth are rodents, rabbits, and various insect populations (e.g., army worms and locusts).

In situations of overpopulation caused by the introduction of a foreign species for which they have no natural predators, they can become an invasive species. An example is the inadvertent introduction of zebra mussels to the North American water systems. Since zebra mussels are natively from the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, they have no natural predators in the foreign ecosystems of North America and parts of Europe. As such, zebra mussels quickly became an invasive species, clogging water treatment pipes, affecting power plants, and impacting the local freshwater fish populations. It is estimated that the overpopulation of zebra mussels has cost approximately $5 billion USD since their introduction. The image below illustrates an infestation of zebra mussels on a North American lock due to the overpopulation of zebra mussels in the North American waterways. Other economic effects of overpopulation include those caused by crop destruction, as seen with the overpopulation of rabbits in Australia. While the overpopulation of rabbits destroyed farmers crops, leading to poor yields, the continent also experienced a loss of native plant species, as well as the removal of precious topsoil due to erosion.

Another effect of the overpopulation of one species, is the increased population growth of the natural predators of such species. This effect is generally considered to be positive, as the predator population serves to control the overpopulated prey species. Such effects also serve to drive evolutionary changes as the prey species evolves to avoid increased predation.

EVOLUTION OF SMARTPHONES

The smartphones we possess today have come a long way from the first rendition of the telephone back in 1876 when Alexander Graham Bell invented and patented the first short-range phone. But like people, phones have evolved throughout history to cater to our lifestyles and needs.

Here’s a look at how telephones have transformed over the years…

Short-Range Phone: Despite a number of individuals from around the world who’ve contributed to the invention of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell was the first to receive a patent for his short-range phone in 1876. Testing out the phone in his Boston laboratory, he rang his assistant Thomas Watson, and become well known-for saying, “Mr. Watson, come here – I want to see you.”

Candlestick Phone: The candlestick phone became popular in the 1890s through the 1930s. Separated by two pieces, it featured a mouth piece (transmitter) mounted at the top of the stand, and a receiver (ear phone) that the user would hold to their ear during a call.

Rotary Phone: Pushing out the candlestick phone, the rotary phone came about in the 1930s when manufacturers began to combine the mouth piece and receiver of the candlestick phones into a single unit. When dialing a rotary phone, what originally started as lugs, but evolved into holes, one would then rotate the dial to the number that they wanted and then would release the dial.

Touch-Dial Phone: On November 18, 1963, the Bell System unveiled the first electronic touch-dial phone system with touch-tone dialing. It would become the worldwide standard for telecommunication signaling. Using audible tones for each of the digits on the push-button keypad, specific frequencies were designated to each row and column. The tones helped the switching center determine which key was pressed.

First Mobile Phone: On April 3, 1973, Motorola researcher and executive, Martin Cooper, made the first mobile telephone from handheld subscriber equipment. Weighing in at 2.4 lbs and measuring at 228.6 x 127 x 44.4mm, Cooper was said to have called a rival telecommunications company and let them know he was talking to them on a mobile phone. The prototype was able to give a caller 30 minutes of talk-time and took about 10 hours to charge.

Cordless Phone: Cordless phones became a hot commodity in the 1980s but was originally invented by a female Jazz musician named Teri Pall in 1965. The handset cord of the telephone was replaced with a radio link. However, Teri’s invention would not hit the consumer market until a decade and a half later.

First Portable Phone: Even though Martin Cooper invented the first mobile phone, the first portable mobile phone was the MicroTAC which was introduced in 1989 as “an innovative new “flip” design”, where the “mouthpiece” folded over the keypad, although the “mouthpiece” was actually located in the base of the phone, along with the ringer. Up until its release, most cellular phones were installed as car phones due to the inability to fit them into a jacket pocket.

Nokia: Through the mid-90s and into the early 2000s, Nokia mobile phones catered to consumers, with interchangeable faceplates, customizable designs, the first WAP browser, internal antenna, T9 Text messaging, and eventually an LCD screen and internet connectivity.

First Camera Phone (Sanyo SCP-5300): Possessing the first camera phone, the U.S. finally adopted the Japanese trend in November 2002. The clunky clamshell design could capture photos at 640×480 pixels and had a basic flash, white balance control, self-timer, digital zoom, and various filters (sepia, black and white, and negative colors.)

Crack-Berry (BlackBerry): Blackberry made waves with their popular RIM communication device in 2003 which possessed a phone, PDA, and e-mail system all in one hand-held phone. The term crack-berry came about when users constantly checked their e-mail and sent short messages through their device.

Sleek Mobile Design (Motorola Razr): First developed in 2003, the Motorola Razr hit it big when it was marketed as a fashion phone due to its sleek and thin profile. Over its four-year run, they sold over a 130 million phones and were named the best-selling clamshell phone in history.

Smartphones: Dating back as far as 1997, it wasn’t until Japan became the first mobile market to popularize the smartphone in 1999. As BlackBerry, Palm, HTC, Windows Mobile, Samsung, Nokia, and Motorola made a name for themselves in the early 2000s, their smartphones had the capability to email, fax, and search the internet. As the smartphone craze escalated, cell phone manufacturers tested a number of functionalities that would help them capitalize on the new trend. From sliding, flipping, rotating, vertical, and even multiple keyboards, touchscreen smartphones made their way into the market which also introduce the stylus. However, the functionality these phones offered were still targeting more business users versus consumers.

Digital Marketing

Do you want to learn digital marketing?

Well, before we go into the basics of digital marketing and even the advanced tactics, let’s first go over what digital marketing is.

That way we’ll be on the same page before we dive into step-by-step strategies.

What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is the act of selling products and services through channels such as social media, SEO, email, and mobile apps. Basically, digital marketing is any form of marketing that involves electronic devices.

It can be done online and offline, and in fact, both kinds are important for a well-rounded digital marketing strategy.

Why Digital Marketing Matters?

Remember billboards? I do.

As a young kid in California, my experiences from the back seat of our car mostly alternated between: “Mom, when are we there?” and “Uh, look, McDonald’s, can we go?” whenever one of those 10-foot billboards popped up on the side of the road.

Growing up with Indian parents, the answer to both of those would, most times, be the same: “not yet.”

Sometimes, big brands would even start a billboard war, like this one between Audi and BMW, which got quite a few laughs.

In 2015, a ton of my clients still spent hundreds of millions of dollars on billboard advertising.

Unfortunately or fortunately, billboard advertising is mostly dead.

Just think of it this way: Google and Facebook generate more revenue than any traditional media company because they control more eyeballs. That’s why digital marketing matters; it’s where the attention is.

The reason why billboards, like the ones above, will die, is because the future of driving will look like this:

driverless cars - digital marketing

Although driverless cars already exist, drivers still have to pay attention; in the future, as the technology improves, not a single passenger will spend their time looking at the road.

Do me a favor, the next time you drive and are giving a friend a ride, take a peek at the passenger seat.

Just for a second.

Even now, chances are they’ll be looking at their phone.

If no one is looking at the road anymore, who’s supposed to see those advertisements?

What’s more: the share of people spending more time using electronic devices continues to rise, while print advertising continues to decline.

That means you don’t have much time to figure out this digital marketing stuff before you can power down your old school printing press and close up shop.

Online Digital Marketing Summary

The 2 main pillars of digital marketing are online marketing and offline marketing. That said, since I’ll talk about online marketing in a separate guide, I’ll only mention the different areas of online marketing here for the sake of completeness.

The 7 big categories of online marketing are:

  1. Search engine optimization (SEO)
  2. Search engine marketing (SEM)
  3. Content marketing
  4. Social Media Marketing (SMM)
  5. Pay-per-click advertising (PPC)
  6. Affiliate marketing
  7. Email marketing

The History of Digital Marketing

Although it was first popularized as a term in the early 2000s, digital marketing has actually been around much longer.

Like, WAY longer. About 100 years longer, to be exact.

Here’s a pic of the first digital marketer in history:

gulielmo marconi - the first offline digital marketer

His name: Guglielmo Marconi.

What? Marconi?

Yup. In 1896 he was the first human to demonstrate a “public transmission of wireless signals.”

This dude invented the radio.

Shortly after his little demonstration in England, morse signals were transmitted across open water.

The Purpose of Research Writing

Why was the Great Wall of China built? What have scientists learned about the possibility of life on Mars? What roles did women play in the American Revolution? How does the human brain create, store, and retrieve memories? Who invented the game of football, and how has it changed over the years?

You may know the answers to these questions off the top of your head. If you are like most people, however, you find answers to tough questions like these by searching the Internet, visiting the library, or asking others for information. To put it simply, you perform research.

Whether you are a scientist, an artist, a paralegal, or a parent, you probably perform research in your everyday life. When your boss, your instructor, or a family member asks you a question that you do not know the answer to, you locate relevant information, analyze your findings, and share your results. Locating, analyzing, and sharing information are key steps in the research process, and in this chapter, you will learn more about each step. By developing your research writing skills, you will prepare yourself to answer any question no matter how challenging.

Reasons for Research

When you perform research, you are essentially trying to solve a mystery—you want to know how something works or why something happened. In other words, you want to answer a question that you (and other people) have about the world. This is one of the most basic reasons for performing research.

But the research process does not end when you have solved your mystery. Imagine what would happen if a detective collected enough evidence to solve a criminal case, but she never shared her solution with the authorities. Presenting what you have learned from research can be just as important as performing the research. Research results can be presented in a variety of ways, but one of the most popular—and effective—presentation forms is the research paper. A research paper presents an original thesis, or purpose statement, about a topic and develops that thesis with information gathered from a variety of sources.

If you are curious about the possibility of life on Mars, for example, you might choose to research the topic. What will you do, though, when your research is complete? You will need a way to put your thoughts together in a logical, coherent manner. You may want to use the facts you have learned to create a narrative or to support an argument. And you may want to show the results of your research to your friends, your teachers, or even the editors of magazines and journals. Writing a research paper is an ideal way to organize thoughts, craft narratives or make arguments based on research, and share your newfound knowledge with the world.

Research Writing and the Academic Paper

No matter what field of study you are interested in, you will most likely be asked to write a research paper during your academic career. For example, a student in an art history course might write a research paper about an artist’s work. Similarly, a student in a psychology course might write a research paper about current findings in childhood development.

Having to write a research paper may feel intimidating at first. After all, researching and writing a long paper requires a lot of time, effort, and organization. However, writing a research paper can also be a great opportunity to explore a topic that is particularly interesting to you. The research process allows you to gain expertise on a topic of your choice, and the writing process helps you remember what you have learned and understand it on a deeper level.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced the new formula to evaluate students of classes 10 and 12, under the state board, amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Explaining the formula, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said to calculate the results of class 12 students studying under the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPMSP), 50 per cent of marks obtained in class 10, 40 per cent of marks obtained in class 11’s annual examination or half-yearly examination and 10 per cent of the marks obtained in pre-board of class 12 will be considered.

For class 10, 50 per cent of marks obtained in class 9 and 50 per cent of marks obtained in pre-board of class 10 will be considered, he said. The minister also said that as many as 56,04,628 students have registered themselves for the board examinations in 2021.

A total of 29,94,312 students have registered for the board examination for class 10, he said, adding that this includes 29,74,487 institutional examinees and 19,825 private examinees. “For class 12, a total of 26,10,316 students have registered for the board examination. This includes 25,17,658 institutional examinees and 92,658 private examinees,” Sharma said.

He said an 11-member committee was constituted to make the formula. The committee received as many as 3,910 suggestions in this regard. The deputy CM also informed that there will be no merit list for the 2021 examination. Students (registered for 2021), who want to appear in the improvement examination, can appear in the next board examination without paying any examination fee, he added.

skill development and training

WHAT IS SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING?

Skill development is a process of identifying your skill gap and ensuring you develop these skills. Your skills determine your ability to execute plans and achieve your goals. Skill development and training is an integral part of an employee’s life. Organizations that encourage skill development have a stronger workforce, employees are motivated and engaged, and have higher productivity.

YOUR SKILL DEVELOPMENT – HARD AND SOFT SKILLS

There are 2 groups of skills –

  1. Hard Skills

Skills related to tasks which can be quantified are known as hard skills. These tend to be knowledge based like expertise in a subject, certifications, and technical skills.

  1. Soft Skills

Skills related to personality are known as soft skills. These include interpersonal skills like communication skills, flexibility, patience, negotiation skills, relationship building, problem solving, decision making etc.

A lot of people don’t understand that one needs to have a balance of both hard skills and soft skills to be successful in professional and personal life.

When you want to achieve your goals, your skills become your tools. If you have the right tools accomplishing goals becomes easy. Without the right skills you’ll not be able to work towards your goal, it will increase frustration, and lower your efficiency. That’s the reason why skill development and training is important. Channelize your energy to understand what the skills you have and which ones need to be developed and polished.

HOW TO START DEVELOPING SKILLS?

  • Start with the core skills

Core skills are the ones that you absolutely need to succeed in your goal and have a direct impact on your success. Secondary skills are those that will accentuate your skills but will act as supporting skills to your core skills.

If you’re starting in a new territory, say writing, programming, or coding, then you need to start by developing your core skills. It can be difficult at the beginning, but these skills will help you accomplish your goals.

  • Break it into small steps

You cannot learn anything all at once. It is best if you break it into smaller parts. This makes it easy to learn and retain. Break the bigger skill into smaller parts for better understanding. For example, divide communication skills into smaller segments – active listening, body language, non-verbal communication, questioning skills, feedback etc.

  • Learn from the best

GET A COACH WHO CAN HELP YOU WITH SKILL DEVELOPMENT training AND MAKE YOUR JOURNEY EASY.

  • Research well

Research to get various perspectives about the skill you want to develop. You can read books, online articles and journals, listen to podcasts, watch videos and web-series. The internet has so much knowledge, you just need to have that expert eye to get the best information.

  • Attend trainings

Whatever skill you want to develop – customer service, effective communication skills, negotiation and problem solving, or conflict management, there are various kinds of online and offline trainings that you can learn from. Make sure you research thoroughly about the content and the trainer of the workshop before enrolling any kind of skill development and training workshop.

  • Act

When you’ve done all the above steps, it is finally time to put all the knowledge into action. Whatever skill you want to develop, it cannot be done without practice. The more effort and time you put in for practice, the better your skills will be.

Silk Road

Silk Road is one of the ancient trade routes which connects the east and west. This name Silk Road was given for the lucrative trade in silk which is carried out from China.

Actually this name is derived from the German term “sidenstrade”, which was first given by Feridinand Von Richthofen in 1877. This term was coined in 19th century, it didn’t gain much attention from people until 20th century and in 1938. Sven Hedin a Swedish geographer published the first book ” The Silk Road”. This Silk road is longer than 6500 km and it’s popularity reached many countries like Japan and Korea.

The Silk road exchanges not only contributed to the development of civilization in China, ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, India and Rome, but also formed the basis of the modern world. The main traders in ancient times were Indians and Bactrian people. Later, from the 5th to the 8th century the Silk road used by Sogdian traders and later by Arab and Persian traders.

Cultural exchange and trade grew rapidly due to the killing of animals and the development of shipping technology. In addition, the grassy pestures there meet the water needs and make it easier for traders to navigate.

The regional states were integrated due to the early modernization in Europe. But on the silk road it had the opposite effect. Trade was low unable to sustain the integration of the mangol empire. Following the Ottoman domination of Constantinople, trade on the silk Road ceased in 1453. The ottoman rulers of the day were anti-western.

The eurasian land bridge is sometimes refferred to as the “New Silk Road”, and China was the Alta pass in 1990 , when Chinese and Kazakhstan railways joined. Since 1993, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has launched an international programme to promote peace and understanding.
