Maharashtra govt cancels Class 12 board examinations in view of ongoing 2nd wave of COVID-19 and possible 3rd wave

Maharashtra Minister Vijay Wadettiwar today informed that the state government has decided to cancel the Class 12 state board examinations in view of the ongoing second wave of COVID-19 and a possible third wave. The state government’s decision to scrap final examinations comes after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancelled their 12th board exams.

The Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has given its nod to the proposal sent by the state education department to cancel Class 12 exams. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray chaired the meeting of the state disaster management authority.

Wadettiwar said, the decision has been taken in the interest of students. He added that the health and safety of students are of utmost importance, and there would be no compromise on this aspect. He said, the evaluation criteria for Class 12 students will be released soon.

The Maharashtra government has already cancelled the Class 10 SSC board exams, citing the present Coronavirus pandemic and released the evaluation criteria for the students.
