Frail, Rosy, confinements… Somehow these words have become synonymous with women. What if I tell you that it’s merely a mindset or perspective, Will you agree with me ?
Have you ever wondered why great legend like Wordsworth wanted the reaper to be a women instead of a men in his poem ‘The Solitary Reaper’ ?
The question that pierced me most was, Don’t guys or the so called menfolk like and use pink, don’t they cry, mourn,… if so then why not ? Why is a girl indicated by pink and not any other color she likes ? Why does jungle have a king Lion but not a Queen lioness ??
I heard my grandmother saying to my 5 year old cousin brother that neither can he get a pink bicycle nor can he cry when he gets hurt just because he is a boy… How can emotions and fondness differ based on gender ??
Crying does not mean you’re feminine, frail and Not crying does not mean you’re manly. Charlotte Bronte beautifully quotes about this, “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth it has always been a sign that you are alive”.
Let’s understand that real men or women are the ones that treat everyone equally without any gender bias, it does not depend upon the color they favor and the emotions they use.
“ This is not men vs. women issue. It’s about people vs. prejudice ”.
