India’s New Education Policy

The New Education Policy 2020 has been approved by the Union Cabinet and renamed the HRD Ministry as Education Ministry. Also, there will be a single regulator for all the higher education and MPhil to be discontinued. During the New Education Policy announcement, Prakash Javadekar informed that the main agenda behind introducing the same is the need of the hour, and it will prepare the students to face the challenges of the new world. Moreover, the NEP will promote skill-based education and enhance the practical skills of the students.

Addressing the nation on 74th Independence Day, PM Modi stated that the New Education Policy would play an essential role in making India self-reliant. According to him, the NEP has been introduced with the aim objective to strengthen research and innovation in the country.

NEP focuses on the National Research Foundation because innovation is essential for a country to progress. Only when research and innovation are strong enough will we be able to go into this competitive world.a
