Tesla CEO Elon Musk was threatened by the Hacktivist group ‘Anonymous’ for declaring in Twitter that ‘Tesla cars’ could no longer be purchased using Bitcoin because of climate change concerns. In the month of February Tesla unveiled that they bought the world’s biggest Digital Currency Bitcoin $1.5bn, in march they announced Tesla cars could be purchased using cryptocurrency but later they went back on their announcement sighting the environmental causes and this created a wave among the bitcoin investors.
The Warning:
In the video, Anonymous blamed Elon Musk for affecting the life of crypto investors and damaging the dreams of normal people who dreamt of a better life through cryptocurrency. It also stated that the company received most of its income through government subsides, Green carbon tax credit from the government of the countries it operates in. The video also mentioned the complaints of Tesla employees for extreme working environment, working of young children in lithium mines in South African to produce lithium.
“You may think you are the smartest person in the room, but now you have met your match. We are Anonymous! We are Legion! Expect Us.”- warned Anonymous.

Anonymous is a decentralized international hacktivist group originated in the year 2003 well known for their cyber attacks against government entities and corporations. Anonymous members wear Guy Fawkes mask in a style depicted in the graphic novel and film “V for Vendetta”. They may also prefer to not use the mask and may not cover their faces as disguise. The global group is believed to include anyone willing to join; its members are referred to as ‘anons’. They would also use voice changers or text-to-speech programs while sending the video messages for anons to mask their voice.
