How Mentos and Coke go viral? It was in 2006 when a youtube video was uploaded by two students. One was Fritz Grobe and another was Stephen V. both were science students. In 2006, they experimented with Mentos and coke. There were no private companies or no brand management was involved, they were simply experimenting and they uploaded it on their YouTube channel. The experiment involved, taking some Mentos and dropping it into 101 Diet Coke bottles, resulting in mini-explosion from which they created a great Ad.
The video, at last, got viral and it resulted in winning the Webby award for the best viral video and it was also nominated for Emmy Award.
