Large Population and Less Agriculture

Agriculture is all about getting in touch with mother earth around us after all it is a source of food for us. However, the agriculture is degrading day by day and the requirement of the population is increasing.

Why agriculture is important?

The agriculture plays a crucial role in providing food , shelter as well as employment to various sectors of economy.

It is merely the most important economic activity in world and main source of raw material for us. Today, processing, marketing, and distribution of crops and livestock products etc. are all acknowledged as part of current agriculture.

Types of Agriculture

Subsistence Farming

It is an ancient method of farming.It is performed in a specific area where the crops are usually produced for their personal needs and are not grown for the purpose of sale in market.

Commercial Agriculture

The commercial farming is basically down on a larger area. It’s main aim is to sell the produce and livestock in commercial market.This type of farming is done in urban areas

Shifting Agriculture

It is also known by the name of shifting cultivation.The farming is done for a temporary period of time and later abandoned.This type of farming is mostly done in hilly regions such as, Arunachal pradesh, Manipur etc.

Plantation Agriculture

It is also known by commercial farming.The crops are produced for at least one year and this type of farming usually increases soil erosion.

Mixed Cropping

In this type of farming, the farmers are growing different types of crops but more than once in the same land together.

Intensive Agriculture

Intensive farming is also known as Intensive agriculture in this high quantity of fertilisers, labour, pesticides are used on the land for farming.

If we look upon the present condition,the farmers are suffering the most in the pandemic.So health of the farmers must be a prior concern for the well being and for greater productivity of crops as well as development of agriculture.Therefore,the methods used for farming must be made more effective as stated above to enhance the productivity of agriculture.
