Greed Cause Of Unhappiness in Life

Excessive desire to have everything can lead to greed and result in suffering. Every person has some desires to have a better life like good education, money, comfort, respect in society and happy family life. One can avail anything he desires by working in an ethical way, but when anything becomes everything, it becomes greed and causes trouble.

Greed is the uncompromised desire to possess enormous wealth, power, ambition, etc, which brings tension and obvious unhappiness. Our desire is not generally bad but when it is based on selfish motives it becomes greed.

Greedy people are not satisfied with what they have got but instead they want to grab more. They go to any extent to achieve the infinite desire resulting later on to severe frustrations and trauma.

So, we can say that greed leads to dishonesty and dishonesty leads to disaster.

Knowledge is Power

Knowledge is the exclusive preserve of the learned and the wise. They are thus able to use this very effectively for acquiring power for themselves or for helping others stay in power.

Not only knowledge makes one wise but also makes him more humane and modest. Thus, we mostly find that such people are able to explain their point of view very convincingly and dynamically, thereby attracting a huge following.

There is no denying the fact that knowledge is power and this comes from extensive reading. ‘Read not to contradict but to weigh and consider’.

Therefore, by gaining knowledge people are able to command power, for his actions are justified and supported with reasoning. There in lies the essence of his power.

It is Better to have Brains than Beauty

Remember that the most beautiful things in the world are the most useless, peacock and lilies for instance. It is better to have brain than beauty, that is not only useful for us but also for society. It is very known fact that “beauty is but skin-deep”.

Beauty fades with the passage of time where as the brain and mental faculty improves and grows with age. We become wiser and more experienced.

The impact of our brain on our personality is but an acknowledged fact.

Therefore, we should try to improve our mental faculty and do something for society to be a part of the nobles causes.

Health OR Wealth

The wealthy are not happy and can never be so, as wealth is the root cause of their unhappiness. In fact it is the universal truth that a healthy man lives a much more happy and content life, than a man blessed with wealth. We all are aware of the old adage ‘ Health is wealth ‘. Thus, we see that there are many things besides wealth, which can enrich us and help us lead a full and wholesome life.

“Superfluity comes sooner by white hair while competency lives longer”, said William Shakespeare in his play ‘Merchant Of Venice’. Wealthy men indeed age faster with worry, while healthy competent men live longer.

Therefore, in order to be happy we should work for noble and social causes, so that we could ‘ leave our foot prints in the sands of times’.

Manners Maketh a Man

A gentleman is known by a gentle deeds. Manners do not only constitute mere outward behavior, but also construes good conduct and morality. Thus, any form of education, which does not cater to imparting moral training is incomplete, if it does not lead to a good moral character.

Manners are an essential perquisites for a good character. This could be only possible if one has a wholesome education, that would enable him to differentiate between what is good or bad, noble or evil. These are the attributes that are important for our future. A man without these qualities of head and heart, is but a savage.

Therefore, Manners play a significant role in man’s life, without which he can never be a complete man, in the true sense of the world.

The Importance Of Daily Exercise For People

The current lifestyle of people is sedentary and quite easy going. Whole day sitting in front of screen whether for online classes or for any entertainment is becoming a very common feature in all households. However, no one can negate the importance of exercise in our life. Everyone must find suitable ways to take out time in order to exercise and build personal fitness.

Extreme Dependency on Computers

Technology has influenced every aspect of our everyday life. No one can undermine the importance of computers in industry, business organizations as well as in our day to day life. Cars, aircrafts, medical equipments and, even traffic signals are managed with the help of computer technology. Nearly all jobs require extensive usage of computers. Running on computerized treadmills in gyms is gaining preference over walking and exercising in parks. In fact computers have altered the way in which we are living in these modern times.

Computer addicts completely withdraw us from our real world and ultimately are drawn deeper into the virtual world. All are moving towards social acceptance without actually knowing one’s own self.

Excessive dependency on computers blurs off the lines of reality and mere fantasy and in extreme cases causes hesitation in communicating and interacting in the real world.

This overwhelming dependency on computers will undoubtedly create negative effects in our life.

Money is at Root of all Disaster

Believe it or not, the world is spinning around money- the supreme power. Money was and is the most important factor governing a man’s actions. All the luxuries and the necessities of life are dependent on money. Without money, pangs of hunger and thirst eat into the every bone of a person. Therefore, money is the means to achieve the goal. The goal is a comfortable life and money is the means to realise it.

However, in reality, money has become the cause of all the disasters in one’s life. It has divided the society between the rich and the poor. This fragmentation of the society has bred jealousy leading to theft and crimes wherein everyone is busy raising their bank balances.

Therefore, we should always try to focus on the fact that money should never become the root cause of our disasters and usage of money should be done in a most wisely and kindly manner as far as possible.

Superstition is the Weapon of the Weak

Superstition is a belief, practice, or rite which do not have a logical and scientific explanation. Basically, it arises due to fear, ignorance, conservatism, urge for material welfare and security of the individual. It is a universal phenomena prevalent across the globe cutting through caste, creed, national and communal boundaries. Lack of education and awareness are the root causes for the birth of superstitions. They have been passed down through history and are important part of every religion. They are strongly embedded in our society, though different societies practice them differently.

Superstition and knowledge are inversely proportional to each other. With the increase in knowledge and awareness, superstition decreases. Therefore, it becomes essential to urge the adoption of scientific temperament and logical thinking. Science has provided answers for every happening in the universe, whether good or bad, which combats the belief in baseless myths.

Confidence, courage and rationality should be instilled in mankind as these are obstacles in the spread and growth of superstitions.

Film Review- Chak De India

When the whole country is obsessed with only cricket as a sports, a movie on hockey? that too, a women’s hockey. It seemed the producer and the director must be out of their mind. The movie Chak De India may be a motivational effort to redeem the lost glory of Indian Hockey.

The plot is about an ex-captain of the Indian Hockey team, who has returned as a coach to the Indian Women’s National team and fights to make India a powerful team. In the movie, Shahrukh Khan as Kabir Khan, the former captain of Indian Men’s hockey team has been accused as a traitor, for losing the final against Pakistan in the world cup. He sees as an opportunity to redeem himself from the disgrace.

Kabir Khan always believed that it is not that we can’t win but it’s just that we have never believed we can.

The film has all the right elements mixed- ironical comedy, seriousness and bubbles of emotions.

The Best Things in Life are Free

The best things in life are free. This is undoubtedly true, for there is one vital aspect of life, that is nature and this is available in abundance, for each one of us for free. However, we are so much involved with ourselves and in our worldly pursuits that we fail to appreciate it.

Besides nature, there are other aspects of our lives, that are very much invaluable like the love, affection of our parents and near and dear one’s. These are essential for us and we know that they just can’t be bought.

We all know that “life is brief- a little hope, a little dream and then good night “. In this short period we must learn to enjoy every single moment, for there are numerous good facets of life which are only for us free of cost.

The language of the Heart

We don’t pay attention to what needs attention. We don’t pay attention to the need of the heart. Because the inspiration to be in peace comes when we listen to our heart. The inspiration to be content comes from our being. The inspiration to be clear comes from here, and we need to listen; we need to hear.

We don’t hear ourselves. We don’t hear the needs that we have. We don’t hear the wish of this heart to be content, to have simplicity in life, to have joy, to feel gratitude every single day, to be inspired by the magic of all magics, by the miracle of all miracles which is the coming and going of this breath.

We are alive! The best news which one can have and if we are incapable of hearing this news, and it sounds to us like a foreign language, then I would suggest we should learn that language. And it is called “the language of the heart”.

Khushi Agarwal

Be content

“There is enough for everyone’s need but there’s nothing for anyone’s greed.”

Human greed has taken us towards the nuclear catastrophe. A day is not far when the humanity’s bitterest enemy would be human themselves.

In this situation there is a need of ideology and nothing better than the words of one of the greatest leader Mahatma Gandhi could help us to make our world a better place to live in by being satisfied with what we have and curtail the excessive demand we make to make our lives luxurious.

Therefore, we should always try to be content and satisfied with what we have and cherish it.

India has always believed in the value of the family.

The value of the family has been deeply imagined in the Indian society over the ages. However like everything, this too has been corrupted by the evil influence of western society. The present generation aping the west is becoming highly materialistic and this is leading to the break – up of the joint family system. Further with the exponential growth in the population, people were compelled to migrate to another cities and towns ins search for livelihood.

Notwithstanding the above, the break-up of the joint family system, has taken away the umbrella of security and protection from the individual. Thus, one can no longer seek protection, advice, or support from elders, in times of crisis. Further the emotional bonds of the family have also been weakened by distance and time.

However, we must always try to preserve the rich family values, and strengthen the kinship bonds, by greater interaction, by showing respect to elders, and love to family members. It is for these family values that differentiate us from others in the universe.

Environmental Pollution is a cause for Concern

Environmental pollution is a cause for concern, not only for us but also for mankind as a whole. The diminishing ozone ionosphere leading to global warming and the unpredictable seasonal variation, are some of the adverse effects of pollution that are threatening the environment in which we live.

The threat of environmental contamination looms large on the earth today. It no longer remains an individual or national concern, but is now a global issue, to be addressed internationally.

So, as a individual and a team we should always strive to do a bit for making this earth a better place to live in.

Hang On To The Good

When good things happen, we boost our ego. “We did this, we did that.” When bad things happen, we lose heart. We lose patience with ourselves and we blame ourselves for everything.

That’s no way to live. up’s and down’s are a pattern of life and is a evidence of the fact that we are alive.

Find the stability in your life, discover it and hang on it. Hang on to the good in you.

Healthy Mind Or A Healthy Body

Man is the only creature in the entire universe blessed with a body and a mind. It is this, which makes him the crown of creation. While a healthy body is necessary, but in absence of a healthy mind, he is no longer a human being, but is more akin to an animal. Thus in my opinion a healthy mind is more important than a healthy body.

While the body is subject to ageing, the mind is not. Thus a healthy person may with a passage of time, grow old with age. On the other hand, the mental faculty of a person not only increases with age, but he becomes more mature, wiser and experienced.

So, in my opinion, a healthy mind plays a very significant role in one’s life to conquer all the barriers and challenges.

The Mountain

We are a human being. We have a certain power. We have a certain strength.

Problems are like clouds. They come; they go. Sometimes they’re big; Sometimes they’re small. Sometimes they’re not there. Sometimes they’re there everywhere.

But the mountain that sits on the ground does not move with the clouds, doesn’t become bigger or smaller with the clouds. We are the mountain; clouds are our problems.

The Meaning Of Tomorrow

People say “now”, right? I have said “now”. And one day I was thinking about “now”. Now is the most elusive thing there is. Because by the time I say “now”, it’s not now anymore. So, by the time I finish saying “now”, now is gone.

Here is one for you. If you don’t understand the meaning of “one”, what is the point in going on to two? After all , “two” is just two ones.

Likewise, If you don’t understand the meaning of “now”, what is the point in trying to understand the meaning of “tomorrow” ? Because you would be pleasantly surprised that tomorrow too will be just full of a bunch of nows and no more different. You need in your life to know.

Khushi Agarwal

36500 DAYS

I’d like to begin with a Chinese proverb. And the way this proverb goes like this: “It is better to light the candle than curse the darkness. “

And the reason why I said this is because it’s not obvious to us that we have become masters of cursing the darkness. We have become really good at cursing darkness.

What is our experience of being alive? We’ve had some good days , We’ve had some bad days. Some challenges, some good memories. Some things we would change, some things we wouldn’t change.

But , do you know that every day that you have in this earth , that you have been alive on this earth, this earth has been in motion. And everything, everything is in motion.

All this time there has been a motion, there has been a sequence of events taking shape, people coming onto this planet Earth, things coming onto this planet Earth, things leaving this planet Earth. I mean , it’s actually a drama that you can’t imagine that has been taking place.

And you have been alive! And you’ve looked at your problems. You’ve had a plan and whenever things do not go according to your plan , you had a problem!

And you’ve been alive all those days! How many days do you actually get to live? It’s a shocking reality. Even if you live for a hundred years, that’s only thirty six thousand, five hundred days.

I wish I were missing a zero. I am not. That’s all there is.

This is the time you get. You get those 36500 days only to get all the things right.

Khushi Agarwal

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness doesn’t mean accepting mediocrity, accepting the other person’s mistake. That’s not forgiveness. You know what forgiveness is?

The day you decide to move on. That’s forgiveness. You’re not going to be victimized by this person’s actions, but you want to move on- no more struggle, no more fighting.

Forgiveness is the day you say, “No, I’m not going to have the struggle. I want to move on.” This is your strength. This is your real strength. And that’s the day you have forgiven. That’s the day you have forgiven.

Khushi Agarwal

BE FEARLESS

we spend a lot of time and energy to make sure that our body is comfortable. Do we also spend time to make sure that our existence is comfortable?

In today’s time, where people are trying to scare and manipulate each other away from peace by using fear, do we realise what fear does to people? Fear takes away the vision of a human being and makes it narrow.

It becomes important not to be influenced by that fear because there is something that is so incredible inside each one of us and that is the courage to see beyond that fear, to see beyond that time and to understand that, as human beings, we have the possibility of being able to be fearless and be in peace.

Khushi Agarwal

The Cost Of Distraction

If you have ever seen a magician perform, and you have to pay attention to how they do, what they do, it’s very interesting.

Because whatever they do ( if they’re hiding a coin or whatever) ,they distract you from what’s really happening. And it’s so smooth that we wonder , “Oh my God, what happened? How did he do that? How did he produce this thousand rupee note out of his shirt ?” I mean, you have to think. Yeah, And people will sit there and people will applaud.

And obviously, I mean, if he could do that for real, make thousands of rupee notes come out of sleeve , why would he be doing this performance? He could be having a nice vacation on a Caribbean island somewhere.

But he’s not doing that. He’s traveling, town to town, place to place, trying to make a meager living while fooling the audience, and this is the point of it. He’s actually fooling us and we’re applauding being fooled.

Everytime we get distracted in so many spheres of our life and just get fooled by doing that.

So , distraction is actually another attraction, but it’s taking away from what you should be attracted to. You should be attracted to your own existence. Why? Because it is the most precious thing there is. There’s nothing more precious than being alive. This is one thing that nobody is selling and nobody can buy!

Khushi Agarwal

KNOW THYSELF

Some people want their story of life to be an adventure. They want to climb high mountains or do things that no one has ever done before. But the greatest adventure is to know own self, to know the real us, the one that never changes even if your body ages. Have we ever worked on our relation with our self ? or , have we been more concerned with what other people think of us? we worry more about how our neighbors, friends, colleagues see us because we have learned to measure our success and status with the scales of this world.

But at the end we have to realize that apart from excelling in all the spheres of materialistic world, we also have to make sure that we do succeed in being a REAL HUMAN BEING.

Khushi Agarwal

HEAR YOURSELF

“when we focus on problems, we will have more problems, and when we focus on possibilities, we will have more opportunities.”

Ship don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. So don’t let what’s happening around us get inside of us and weigh us down.

Nothing in this world is permanent. So, we don’t have to stress ourselves too much because no matter how bad the situation is, it will change.

If this life is our story, wouldn’t we want to make sure that it is an interesting one? So , always try to hear yourself and you will be surrounded by the clarity which resides in your heart.

Khushi Agarwal

Unity in Diversity

Unity and harmony are the two sides of the same coin and go hand in hand. Harmonious intermingling is the ability wherein different elements, creatively adjust under all circumstances. India is the best example in this context. It is the only country in the world where people from different cultures, backgrounds, mode of living, worshipping different gods come and still believe that they are the children of one motherland , mother India.

An important aspect of the Indian society is the coexistence of various ethnic groups. They have formulated an inter group behaviour. Hence, there is no mutual interference and also no merging of their identity. As a result, different cultures have blended together bringing unity amongst the people

In the current scenario, we the people of India proved that these statements of unity not only exist in the words but also in actions. In this most drastic situation of pandemic , various people regardless of their culture, religion, etc came in the frontlines to help each other in every possible manner whether in terms of feeding or providing medical facilities.

So, we should be proud enough to be a part of this land and be one of those peace loving people who never get tired of being kind.
