The cat (Felis catus) is a domestic species of small carnivorous mammal. It is the only domesticated species in the family Felidae and is often referred to as the domestic cat to distinguish it from the wild members of the family.
Owning a cat can bring unconditional love and companionship in your life. Having a cat can also help to relieve stress and improve your heart health.Owning a cat can be an extraordinarily rewarding relationship. A cat has the ability to both calm your nervous system and provide an immediate outlet for fun and play.
Most cats love to curl up in your lap at the end of a long day while you watch television or read a book. The simplicity of this act can cause an automatic release of all the right kinds of chemicals to your brain, allowing you to ease into the evening without the weight of the world on your shoulders.
On August 8, the world observes International Cat Day to celebrate and learn more about one of man’s common and ancient pets. Announced by International Fund for Animal Welfare, International Cat Day is being celebrated since 2002. International Cat Day is celebrated to help raise public awareness about cats, to learn about ways to keep and protect them.
On International Cat Day, I would like to enlist why cats make a great pet:
1.Cats are good for your health:
While owning any pet can provide a numerous health benefits.
- Lower the risk of stress and anxiety: Research studies shows that a cat’s purr can calm your nervous system and lower your blood pressure.
- Reduce feelings of loneliness. Cats make great companion animals. They offer an unconditional love that can be equal to many human friends.
- Improve your cardiovascular health. Cat owners have been reported to carry a lower risk for heart disease and stroke.

2. Cats are low maintenance:
cats are most fascinating quality is that they are lower maintenance and cost less than dogs, who need walking, training, frequent grooming, and more toys and attention.

3. Cats are ideal pets for apartments:
Cats are also perfect for apartments or city living. They don’t need tons of space to play and explore. Compared to dogs, cats require less space and can take better advantage of vertical space.

4. Cats are quiet:
cats are a great choice of pet. cats tend to meow when they’re hungry, but you rarely have to worry about being woken up or distracted from a task by a cat begging for attention. this makes them an ideal pet if you are working from home.

5.They’re independent:
cats are independent animals who like to scavenge and explore on their own terms, they are also very affectionate with their owners and people they trust. A cat will be there for you when you need them but they’re also perfectly adept at entertaining themselves. One of the best things about cats is that they are very independent creatures. Unlike dogs, who require quite a high level of attention cats are quite happy to have time to themselves.

6.cats can help kids to learn skills:
Cats can have a bunch of positive effects on children. According to study conducted owning a cat can teach kids social skills and help them cope with traumatic situations.
