HISTORY

Since it is celebrated on different days in different countries, the history of celebrating this day is also our own. Doctor’s Day in India was started in 1991 by the then Government of India. Since then every year, the first date of July is established to be recognized and celebrating as National Doctor’s Day. This day was ensured to honour and pay tribute to the legendary doctor and other Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, across India. He was born on July 1, 1882, A.D in Patna city, Bihar, and died on this day 80 years later. He was a noted physician and renowned educationist of the country as well as a freedom fighter because he participated in the movements made by Mahatma Gandhi, and also took care of him in his fast. After Independence, he became the leader of the Indian National Congress Party and then later became the Chief Minister of West Bengal. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna Award in February 1961. Apart from this, Dr. BC Roy National Award was instituted in 1976 to remember him. The award was to pay him respect and tribute. Therefore, to honour and remember such a great personality National Doctor’s Day was started.

OBJECTIVE

  1. LET GO OF YOUR FEAR AND SENSE OF CONTROL-If you have raised a toddler, you know how strong their will to be independent can be. There is no stopping them because they think they can do anything. If you have noticed children in general, they don’t have self doubts about what they can do anything and offer us help too. It is us adults who restrict children because we think of them as incapable. Of course, we can’t let them do anything they ask for. But we need to think before restricting them. So often I have been amazed by the ability of the kids to help in the kitchen or other household chores because I had clearly underestimated them. But if they insist, they should let them do it, it’s far better than how parents thought it would be. Therefore, now we should let go of may fear and the need to control. This alone can help them try various things and increase confident. Instead of judging them and saying”No” outright, we can say, “Let’s try to do this”.
  2. AGE APPROPRIATE CHORES-Encouraging kids to take part in household chores is a good idea to make them independent. Understand your child’s abilities and entrust them with appropriate tasks. Your son may not be able to do what your friend’s son does. Each child has different abilities. Therefore, don’t pressurize or compare them with others. The aim is to make them independent, not compare them with others and make them feel bad about themselves. It will lead to just the opposite effect, that is, develop low self esteem and a belief of “not good enough”.
  3. LET THEM FAIL-It might feel bad when you see the child struggling with something. You don’t want him to suffer. And love for him might interfere and you will want to do it for him. Children can sense your fear and it will gradually cause children to lose self confidence and have a tendency to be more dependent. So, let them do what they want on their own. Or if you think they are old enough to take care of some of their activities, encourage them to do it. You need to stop in only when something life- threatening happens. Otherwise, just trust and let go of your protective instincts. When they fail, let them try again and again. In fact, there is nothing called “failure’ in life. There are only “lessons”. Every time you try something and fail to achieve the desired result, you learn something new. This will open new perspective for them to view life.
  4. MAKE THE HOME ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTIVE-Kids can start doing the tasks that they want if we can set up home environment accordingly. Keep their clothes, toys, utensils and other belonging on the lower parts of storage shelves, so that they don’t have to seek your help for completing chores. You can ask them to get ready to school on their own. And also, they can pick up the toys after playing and put it back without anyone’s help. Keep a safe stool in the bathroom so that the toddler can brush his teeth by himself. Or, reach for things that will help him accomplish his tasks.
  5. LET THEM RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS-Kids should understand that there are consequences for their actions. Let them face it so that they learn their lesson from experience. For example, if the child keeps forgetting about keeping books in his bag according to the timetable, let him face the natural consequence once. The lesson from his experience will be far more effective than your constant verbal reminders. When he faces the natural consequences, he will be more self dependent on making changes. For smaller kids, you can them clean the mess they make or make them pick up the toys and ask them to keep everything where they belong.
  6. TEACH THEM TO MANAGE MONEY-Teaching kids about money management is a life skill that will decide how independent and successful they will be in the future. The child should be taught to able to let go of so many impulsive purchases and save money and regret, by asking this question to myself. And that decision would most probably be right. When kids ask for more toys, you should remind them about the toys they already have and that they simply don’t need another one now. Instill saving habits in them by encouraging them to save. If they want to buy a toy, help them count and save money for the target amount from their allowances. Now, I won’t ask my young kids to save money for whatever they want to buy. We provide for them and but them what they need.

Think for yourself and even if you make mistakes, accept that and just try to do better next time. But don’t let others push you, change you mind and decide for yourself.

We do our best when we act as individuals and have our own point of view. The data which opens up serious safety and quality concerns underline the fact that zero risk blood supply is still a distant reality in the country.

For quality, safety and efficacy of blood and blood products, well equipped blood centers with adequate infrastructure and trained manpower is an essential requirement. However, there is a sizable shortage of trained healthcare professionals in the field of transfusion medicine throughout the country. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had long before formulated a National Blood Policy with an aim to ensure easily accessible and adequate supply of safe and quality blood and blood components procured from a voluntary non-equipped premises, which is free from transfusion transmitted infections and is stored an transported under optimum conditions.

WHAT IS CHILD LABOUR?

Not all work done by children should be classified as child labour that is to be targeted for elimination. Children’s or adolescent’s participation in work that does not affect their health and personal development or interfere with their schooling, is generally regarded as being something positive. This includes activities such as helping their parents around the home, assisting in a family business or earning pocket money outside school hours and during school holidays. These kinds of activities contribute to children’s development and to the welfare of their families; they provide them with skills and experience, and help to prepare them to be productive members of society during their adult life. The term”child labour” is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development. It refers to work that:

  • is mentally, physically, socially and morally dangerous and harmful to children;and/or
  • interferes with their schooling by; depriving them of the opportunity to attend school; obliging them to leave school prematurely; or requiring them to attempt to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work.

The worst forms of child labour involves children being enslaved, separated from their families, exposed to serious hazards and illness and left to fend for themselves on the streets of large cities o, often at a very early age. Whether or not particular forms of “work” can be called “child labour” depends on the child’s age, the type and hours of work performed, the conditions under which it is performed and the objectives pursued by individual countries. The answer varies from country to country, as well as among sectors within countries.

2021 THEME

For the global anti-child labour community, we are particularly looking forward to 2021 being the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour. The issue of child labour has seen real progess in the last 20 years. There are 100 million fewer children in child labour now, a stunning number. ILO Convention 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour is the only universally ratified Convention in ILO history, with Convention 138 (concerning Minimum Age for Admission to Employment) not far behind with only 14 countries left to act. Both conventions contribute to the national legacy policy frameworks necessary for the prevention and remediation of child labour. The current development agenda and framework of the Sustainable Development Goals includes a specific and separate target to end all forms of child labour by 2025, per SDG target 8.7. Further, the global alliance 8.7 is spreaheading the achievements of this target, bringing all stakeholders together and encouraging countries to commit to accelerate efforts to address child labour via their ‘Pathfinder Country’ mechanism, resulting in commitments by 22 countries to date.

With this significant progress, there have also been setbacks. As per available estimates, the total number of children in work globally stands at an incredible 152 million, with the pace of reduction slowing in the past couple of years. Child labour in agriculture, which is largely informal and under regulated, has increased and now stands at 108 million. This highlights both the progress in the formal sectors of the global economy and the tremendous need to redouble efforts in the informal sector.

National child labour laws and policies remain under enforced and under resourced. Examples of this include weak labour inspection systems that barely touch the informal economy where the majority of child labour is found, and delayed review or publication of national lists of hazardous work prohibited for children under the age of 18. The biggest setback has been the year long and continuing pandemic which is reversing the progress made thus far, keeping children out of school and increasingly into work with the socio-economic impacts further pushing already vulnerable communities to the margins.

  4. ACKNOWLEDGE AND EMPATHIZE WITH YOUR CHILD- Whether it’s a happy or difficult situation, acknowledge your child’s feelings, understand them, and reassure them that they can depend on you to solve all their problems.

Mahatma Gandhi’s great granddaughter, Ashish Lata Ramgobin, 56, has been sentenced to seven years in jail by a South African court in connection with a six million (Rs 32.2 billion) rand fraud and forgery case. Ashish Lata Ramgobin was accused of fraud after businessman S.R.Maharaj paid rand 6.2 million to her for clearing imports and tariffs on non-existent consignments from India. S.R.Maharaj was promised a share of promised, PTI reported. The daughter of renowned rights activist Ella Gandhi and the late Mewa Ramgobin, Lata Ramgobin, was also denied appeal by the Durban Specialized Commercial Crimes Court, convicted. During the trial, Brigadier General Hanwani Murauji of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office (NPA) provided Lata Ramgobin with forged invoices and documents to convince investors that three linen containers were shipped from India. At that time, Lata Ramgobin was released on the bail of 50,000 rand.

Lata Ramgobin met with S.R.Maharaj, Director of the New Africa Alliance Footwear Distributor in August 2015. Mahatma Gandhi’s great granddaughter told Maharaj that he had imported three containers of linen for the South African hospital group NetCare. NPA spokesman Natasha Kara said,” Lata Ramgobin is facing financial difficulties in paying import costs and tariffs and needs money to get goods through the port.” She told Maharaj that she needed 6.2 million rand. To convince him, she showed her a purchase order for the item she claimed. It is just 220 to 440 kilometers from the southern Indian state of Kerala. Its 70,000 strong population is predominantly Muslim. Their cultural and social identity could be under threat. Lakshadweep is a Union Territory, which means it is administered by the federal government through an administrator. The archipelago’s administrator has traditionally been drawn from the bureaucracy. Patel is the first politician to be appointed to the post. A junior minister for home affairs in Gujarat when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was chief minister of the state, Patel is known to be close to Modi. Patel is aslso administrator of the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagra Haveli and Daman and Diu. The policies he adopted there, which were similar to the ones he has introduced in Lakshadweep, have allegedlly benefited lobbies close to him while ignoring local residents. locals fear this will be the case in Lakshadweep too. Patel was appointed as Lakshadweep’s administrator in December 2020. Soon after taking charge, he scrapped the stringent quarantine measures for travelers from the Indian mainland to the archipelago. WHAT IS BODY IMAGE?

Body image can be affected by stereotypes and beliefs, including those of the people around you as well as your own.   2. A POSITIVE ATTITUDE -The second element, a positive attitude, is closely linked to self esteem. Positive thinking is the idea that you can change your life by thinking more positively. We should try to avoid perfectionism as nobody is perfect and trying to be perfect in any sphere is only going to lead to problems in the long term. Avoid making comparisons and try to simply celebrate others’ successes as well as your own. Not rushing to judge is likely to make you kinder and pleasanter to be around.
  3. EMOTIONAL AWARENESS AND SELF CONTROL, SOMETIMES CALLED EMOTIONAL STABILITY-Finally, to manage your views about your body, you need to be aware and in control of your emotions. There will be times when you see or hear things that will upset you, and affect your view of your body.
