You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”

― Elizabeth Gilbert

If You’re not a happy single, you can’t be happy in a relationship. Life is all about how you see, if you’re sad of your misfortune, “It’s okay, Something else is protected for you. Maybe you deserve better.”

Expectation

” The two way to be happy : improve

your reality or lower your expectation. “

Expectation. The real killer of our happiness is our expectation. What does an expectation mean we all know but why do we expect? Is it worthy? Do we get something more by expecting?

I think a person is solely responsible for their happiness. And you give that responsibility to another person when you expect from someone. Many people will now get frustate and say, “what rubbish are you saying? Expecting from someone we love or from someone we are attached to is not wrong.” Yes, of course it’s not wrong but it’s the enemy. Enemy of our happiness, our smile if they remain unmet. You don’t need to end up your all expectation. No. You just need to set a limit for then beyond which you can’t expect at any cost as if you did so, you are opening up a way for lots of disappointments. You often believe that like the way you have treated others, you will also get the same treatment in return. Here, the life plays it’s game and gives you a surprise with a very different behaviour. Either it will met you expectation or will go beyond your expectation, can ne very good or very bad.

See, if you have thought in advance that yes I’ll not get the same thing back, it can be good or bad, then congratulations buddy, you have prepared yourself for whatever the result would be. Nothing can disappoint or harm you then. If you don’t have expectations, you can never be disappointed.

” Expectation is the root of all heartache. “

                                                        –Shakespeare

Keeping too much expectation can destroy a relation too. Look, if you have high expectation from someone and if they fail to fulfil them, then what would be the result. Of course misunderstandings. And those misunderstandings are enough to break that relation.

” We can’t expect others to change –

the only thing we can depend on successfully

changing out attitude towards them. “

Other people are not aware of what you are expecting from them and when those expectations remain unmet, we get upset that the person is not like what we have expected. How would he be? Did the person is aware of what you are expecting from him? The answer is no. It’s not the mistake of that person, it’s the fault of yours.

We don’t only expect from other humans, we also expect from our life, situations, etc. Life is not fair with anyone. Every person has a breakdown in their life at some point of their life. Reason for that can be anything. At that point many  people ask from their life, why me? Dear, you need to accept the fact that life is not fair with anyone and it’s not necessary that it will be fair with you all the time. It will check you over and over again. Rather than questioning you need to learn and fight.

Keeping high expectation either from life or from any person will always hurt you, disappoint you. So, if you want to live fearless and happy, just limit your expectations as much as you can and from everyone no matter how much you love them. The people we love the most can also turn into the person who can hurt us the most. Enjoy things while they last. Be okay when they break. Living without or little expectation requires accepting the worst and aiming for the best.

Good and Bad effects of competition in Life

Winner Winner Confidence booster!

Get set go!! What do you make of that? If you think its competition, you are absolutely right! In Today’s fast moving life, this phrase makes sense most of the time in every field. Yes, competition, the act of trying tobwin or gain something by defeating others, is the policy we bear in mind in completing any task how much ever minute it may be.

One of the main advantages of competition is, it provides purpose and firmness to the mind. It gives us an impetus to pursue our goal, despite the difficulties that comes along the way. Here, ego also plays a major part as losing means one is inferior to the other. This might help in increasing confidence level. If its a challenge, why not gain the pleasure by surmounting it?

Even for a trifle task, one thinks that he must be the first one to finish it, thereby forcing each one to give their level best into it, yielding a better result altogether. This trait can be observed in children too. They try to compete in any task given to them and feel very good about themselves once they finish it. This simple instance shows the infuence of competition.

Now-a-days, children are very witty, which increases the level of competition. With numerous opportunities and resources come greater competition. This can be observed in various competitive exams. The cut off marks are such that, by a point difference people lose. This induces more stress in people which might be positive or negative, depending on each individual and circumtances.

Competition provides the opportunity to select the best among the bests. It is the best way to analyze ourselves and keep a track of where we stand among our peers. It also gives us chance to improve ourselves and achieve better when the next opportunity knocks our doors.

The monthly or annual exams students face is a trailor to the future competitions we might encounter. Many children as well as adults bear the opinion that exams are unnecessary and irrelevant. On the contrary, without a definite reason, it is highly unlikely that people learn what is to be learnt.

The importance of competition is such that we must always engage in improving ourselves to be on par with the bustling world. Only when we compare and compete with people, our areas of strength and weakness is revealed to us. This is help in finding direction to move forward in life.

Coming to the disadvantages, it depends on one’s mentality and view point. If one is pessimistic, the idea of competition might be discouraging to him. Whereas, if he is optimistic and ready to take on challenges, it might actually help in pushing oneself to improvise on all levels. The reality stands that competition is everywhere. One can either moan about or make the best out of it.

In conclusion, one musy always try to have healty competition in mind. Especially in this competitive world, competition is a must and the one conpeting with full determination will be the winner of the competition called life.

BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.

Art in all of its form has been beautiful, it’s also terrifying. Beauty is a characteristic particular to an object that appeases the human senses. There is beauty in the way that we always catch something different each time we look at it, it’s terrifying because you didn’t catch it in the first place; it’s almost that beauty reflects what the eye of the beholder is feeling. You can find meaning in how you can distinguish melancholy from sadness in a painting, the way the music feels different. Art is beautiful not for the way that it was painted or how a song was sung or how a person danced but how the way you think of it, how your eyes sparkle when you talk about it. Art in all of its forms is beautiful for its ability to make someone happy just by looking at it even if that piece of art was made in sadness. It’s beautiful not for the way everyone said it is but for the way how everyone looks at it, it’s almost like you are staring right at your soul. Haruki Murakami said that “Have you ever had that feeling – which you’d like to go to a whole different place and become a whole different self” this saying is the essence of art. Art always makes us feel more human than we all are because we are always sticking their emotions in things that have no emotions.

It’s the human hopes and beliefs that make art beautiful; it’s how humans crave words and depth, desires, and fears. It’s how you love art in a way you don’t understand. That’s why art is beautiful and we humans quiver before it because of how art consumes us, unstrings our emotions. Life without the existence of art is painful and bland, the different of expressions art give birth to human identity and our creative powers with which human identity is meaningless.; art gives humans a chance to show and display important facets of their identity, show why they believe that certain issues must be paid more importance, why they vehemently stand for who they are. Art is for everyone and art is a display of human being’s capacity for empathy and honesty, open understanding. We make art because we want to be relatable and oddly humane despite all our flaws. Of course, all of us aspire to be an elegant person who is well-read, fluent in many languages, knowledgeable in the art, and always smells exquisite like roses. But we also aspire to be a woman in the cottage in the countryside who drinks wine, reads old novels, loves the feeling of warmth of a hot cup of tea by the window, is humble, and bakes the best biscuit ever. That is art is a relatable and bizarre concoction of feelings that we feel, we feel complex feelings but art makes our feelings more e defined, a bit sharper, a bit easier to understand, and explains to others about it. It’s basically a sardonic commentary of the spectrum of human emotions. They are powerfully glorious mysteries and yet art fulfills every human desire ever. We humans despite all our flaws are marred creatures who create fascinating works of art based on emotions and watch them in awe and be amazed. Whatever we do ends up being art, it’s always fascinating that anything we humans are good at ends up becoming art. We call cooking art when it’s beautiful, we call painting art when it’s beautiful. More importantly, art is different for each and every one of us, the difference in our perspective gives us a different outlook on art. Everything around us becomes art if we look at it pretty.

How to Be Happy

Behavioral scientists have spent a lot of time studying what makes us happy (and what doesn’t). We know happiness can predict health and longevity, and happiness scales can be used to measure social progress and the success of public policies. But happiness isn’t something that just happens to you. Everyone has the power to make small changes in our behavior, our surroundings and our relationships that can help set us on course for a happier life.

Mind

Happiness often comes from within. Learn how to tame negative thoughts and approach every day with optimism.

Conquer Negative Thinking

All humans have a tendency to be a bit more like Eeyore than Tigger, to ruminate more on bad experiences than positive ones. It’s an evolutionary adaptation — over-learning from the dangerous or hurtful situations we encounter through life (bullying, trauma, betrayal) helps us avoid them in the future and react quickly in a crisis.

But that means you have to work a little harder to train your brain to conquer negative thoughts. Here’s how:

Don’t try to stop negative thoughts. Telling yourself “I have to stop thinking about this,” only makes you think about it more. Instead, own your worries. When you are in a negative cycle, acknowledge it. “I’m worrying about money.” “I’m obsessing about problems at work.”

Treat yourself like a friend. When you are feeling negative about yourself, ask yourself what advice would you give a friend who was down on herself. Now try to apply that advice to you.

Challenge your negative thoughts. Socratic questioning is the process of challenging and changing irrational thoughts. Studies show that this method can reduce depression symptoms. The goal is to get you from a negative mindset (“I’m a failure.”) to a more positive one (“I’ve had a lot of success in my career. This is just one setback that doesn’t reflect on me. I can learn from it and be better.”) Here are some examples of questions you can ask yourself to challenge negative thinking.

First, write down your negative thought, such as “I’m having problems at work and am questioning my abilities.”

  • Then ask yourself: “What is the evidence for this thought?”
  • “Am I basing this on facts? Or feelings?”
  • “Could I be misinterpreting the situation?”
  • “How might other people view the situation differently?
  • “How might I view this situation if it happened to someone else?”

The bottom line: Negative thinking happens to all of us, but if we recognize it and challenge that thinking, we are taking a big step toward a happier life.

Controlled Breathing

Science is just beginning to provide evidence that the benefits of this ancient practice are real. Studies have found, for example, that breathing practices can help reduce symptoms associated with anxiety, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and attention deficit disorder. For centuries yogis have used breath control, or pranayama, to promote concentration and improve vitality. Buddha advocated breath-meditation as a way to reach enlightenment.
