Importance of Training and Internship

By Avishek Sarkar

Training and internship programs have become essential parts of modern education and career growth. While formal education gives students the basic knowledge needed to understand their field, real-world experience through training and internships helps them use, improve, and expand that knowledge in actual work situations. As industries change quickly because of new technologies, globalization, and competition, the need for training and internships has become even more important. They help connect classroom learning with professional work, giving individuals not just technical skills, but also important life skills, confidence, and a better understanding of how to succeed in a job. One main reason training and internships are so important is that they give students and new professionals real experience.

Learning in a classroom is important, but it often doesn’t show how complicated or unpredictable real work can be. Through internships, people get to see how industry practices work, how companies operate, and what employers expect. They learn how what they’ve studied in books applies to daily tasks, making decisions, and solving problems. This hands-on experience makes what they learn in school more meaningful and relevant. For example, engineering students who study design in class can better understand those ideas when they see them being used on-site. Business students who learn about marketing in theory gain a clearer idea of its importance when they work on market research or branding projects during internships. Training and internships also help develop skills that are not always easy to teach in a classroom. Technical skills like using specific tools, software, or following strict procedures are often best learned through practice. Beyond that, internships help build soft skills such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, and time management. These abilities are highly valued by employers, who often look for people with a mix of technical knowledge and these essential life skills. Interacting with supervisors, attending meetings, meeting deadlines, and working with colleagues all help build a more complete skill set that prepares people for the challenges of professional life. Another important benefit of internships is the chance to build a network and make professional connections.

Networking is a big part of career development, as the people you meet while working can lead to mentorship, job opportunities, and long-term support. During internships, individuals get to work closely with industry experts, observe how leaders handle things, and get advice from experienced professionals. These relationships offer guidance even after the internship ends, helping people make better career choices and handle challenges as they move forward in their careers. Internships also help people figure out what they want to do in their careers. Many students enter college with only a general idea of what their future jobs might be like. Internships give them a chance to experience different aspects of an industry, helping them discover what kind of work they enjoy and what fits their strengths and goals. Sometimes, students find that their original plans don’t match what they experience on the job. In other cases, an internship may spark a passion for a specific field, encouraging them to pursue more training or education in that area. This clarity is important for making informed decisions and avoiding costly mistakes in their careers. Internships also help build confidence. Starting a job can be scary, especially for students who have never worked in a professional setting. Training programs offer a safe environment where people can learn, make mistakes, and ask questions without fear. As they complete tasks, contribute to team projects, and get feedback, they build confidence. This confidence helps them perform better in job interviews and professional settings, allowing them to present themselves more effectively and handle pressure better. From the employer’s point of view, training and internships are also very beneficial. Companies can get fresh talent, new ideas, and enthusiastic workers who are eager to learn. Interns often bring new perspectives and up-to-date knowledge from school, which can help with productivity and innovation. Plus, internships act like extended interviews, giving employers a chance to see how well an intern works, their attitude, and how well they fit into the company culture before making a hiring decision. This reduces the risk of hiring the wrong person and helps companies find people who are already familiar with their systems and expectations. Many businesses prefer to hire former interns because they need less training and are already part of the team. Training programs also help close skill gaps in the workforce. As industries change, the need for new skills grows. Training efforts, whether from schools, companies, or government agencies, help people stay relevant and competitive. These programs help people learn new technologies, use new tools, and understand new industry standards. They also support ongoing learning, which is crucial for career growth in today’s fast-changing work environment.

In addition to helping with professional goals, internships also support personal growth. Working in different environments exposes people to new cultures, values, and ways of thinking. Internships encourage maturity, responsibility, and self-awareness. People learn to handle multiple tasks, manage expectations, and deal with challenges on their own. These experiences build resilience and prepare people for the uncertainties of adult life and their careers. Finally, internships improve employability. Employers now look for candidates with real-world experience, not just academic qualifications. A resume that includes relevant internships shows that a candidate is proactive, has real experience, and can apply their knowledge effectively. In tough job markets, having internship experience can make a big difference and increase the chances of getting a desired job. In short, training and internships are very valuable for career preparation and professional growth. They connect theory with practice, give essential skills, and help shape career goals. They help build strong professional networks, boost confidence, and improve job chances. For employers and industries, internships provide access to skilled, motivated workers and support continuous learning and innovation. In a world that is always changing, the importance of training and internships can’t be ignored.

Henna and its medicinal benefits.

The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the dieseases .

In East Asia countries henna has a prominent role in any celebration or occasion. It shows the richness of an east Asian culture with beautiful designs on hand. It’s scientifically termed Lawsonia Inermis.
Its earliest known usage was in Egypt around 1200 BC, when pharaohs’ hair and nails were dyed, as well as when they were being mummified. It was even rumored that Cleopatra personally decorated her body with henna.
The natural cooling action of henna, which gives skin a pleasant tingling feeling, maybe its most well-known feature (similar to chewing spearmint gum and drinking cold water). When this virtue was found, desert dwellers began using henna to keep their bodies cool. They created an air-conditioning effect by creating a henna paste and applying it to oneself. For as long as the henna stain lingers on the skin, the feeling is felt all over the body. The henna streaks were quickly transformed into works of art by the desert inhabitants. As a result, the tradition of henna emerged.
Coming to its benefits it has long been used medicinally, including as a poultice to treat burns and dermatitis and as a coagulant for open wounds. Ringworm and other microbial or fungal skin problems can be treated topically using fresh herbs. Henna’s benefits for heart health are among the least recognized. You can experience a hypotensive impact from henna water or seeds, which reduces stress on the cardiovascular system and significantly decreases blood pressure. Limiting the accumulation of plaque and platelets in the artery and cardiovascular can help prevent heart disease.
Moreover, henna has long been associated with bringing affection, wealth, and protection from wealth. It is true when one says the best medicine is usually what nature provides.

Internship

An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organization for a limited period. Once confined to medical graduates, an internship is used practice for a wide range of placements in businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies. They are typically undertaken by students and graduates looking to gain relevant skills and experience in a particular field. Employers benefit from these placements because they often recruit employees from their best interns, who have known capabilities, thus saving time and money in the long run. Internships are usually arranged by third-party organizations that recruit interns on behalf of industry groups. Rules vary from country to country about when interns should be regarded as employees. The system can be open to exploitation by unscrupulous employers

Some benefits of Internship for college students

1. Apply your theory

Internships offer students the chance to put what they are learning into action, in a real-world environment. This helps you better understand the theories and strategies you have been reading about, cementing the learning process and giving you greater focus.

2. Get a feel for the work environment

For students who are exploring their career options, internships are great! By joining a team, you will have a much better understanding of what it’s like working at a particular company and get a clearer idea of the industry itself.

This knowledge will help you in your job hunting in the future, giving you an better idea of the types of jobs you want – and perhaps more importantly – the types of job you don’t want.

3. Boost your confidence

Of course, taking on an internship helps you learn about the work environment, but it also helps you learn about yourself.

You will have a much clearer idea of your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Most importantly, knowing that you have hands-on experience will give you far more confidence when it comes to job seeking and interviews.

4. Build networks

As Porter Gale wrote, “your network is your net worth” and internships offer students great networking opportunities. You’ll meet colleagues and team members, take part in meetings and get to know new people in a professional environment.

If you distinguish yourself during your internship, you can make life-long connections who can help you find positions, meet clients, or even make recommendations.

5. Improve your CV

Students who put themselves forward for an internship show that they are willing to take responsibility, work hard, want to learn, and are interested in getting experience. These are all qualities that hiring managers are interested in and this helps you differentiate yourself in a competitive jobs market.

No matter how successful you were in your internship, you can hold your head up high and explain what you learned and what responsibilities you had.

6. Getting a reference or letter of recommendation

When it comes to finding your first graduate position, references and recommendations can be the difference between an offer and a rejection.

Most managers will be happy to offer a reference or letter of recommendation after completing an internship with them, so when the times comes you will have a greater chance of getting the job you have always wanted.

A guide to internships

Introduction

Internship is an opportunity for you to get real time experience in a field that you are interested in. It is a program that helps you improve in a particular field. Internships are short-term jobs. Internships are mostly done before securing a permanent job or done by college students to add it as an experience in their resume. Internships can be paid and unpaid. Either way you will work for a particular organization and get experience.

Requirements for an internship

This is just the basic requirements for any internship you get. The particular organization will have particular requirements for the internship anyway. These are the things that you need to have before you apply for an internship

  • A well built resume. As internship is actually a job that you are going to do, the organization need to know your education details and other interests. So you need to have your resume ready.
  • Experience. Don’t forget to add your experience details in your resume if you have any, because that acts as one of the factors to hire candidates. Some organizations do not expect any previous experience from you. And some will require work samples related to your work. If you can do your work samples and keep them ready, there are chances to be hired since they can see if you are capable of doing the job or not.
  • Why should we hire you. This is one important question that requires a neat and precise thoughtful answer. Be prepared for that. Make sure you show your interest towards the work you would be doing as well as towards the organization. Mention your experience in it if you have any.
  • Research. Research about the organization you are applying for and get to know them. This is not very much necessary but you need to know this in order to know about the company and develop interest. The company most of the time is not going to ask questions about them but it would be good if you mention some of it during interview.
  • Assessment. Some organizations do not ask for work samples instead they give you assessment to get to know your knowledge in the field. Do the assessment with full dedication and be punctual and submit it before deadline.

Internship & The Role of an Intern

What is an internship? An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organization for a limited period of time. They are typically undertaken by students and graduates looking to gain relevant skills and experience in a particular field. An internship consists of an exchange of services for experience between the intern and the organization. Internships are used to determine whether the intern still has an interest in that field after the real-life experience. Internships provide current college students with the ability to participate in a field of their choice to receive hands-on learning about a particular future career, preparing them for full-time work following graduation.

Internships are usually short-term. They’re smaller investments in time and energy than full-time jobs. But they are certainly without a doubt a great investment of your time. Consequently, they’re perfect opportunities to explore your options. You deserve work that’s fulfilling. If necessary, you can sign up for a different but related internship role elsewhere to see if you’re happier there.

Your internship is going to shape the course of your career. It’ll assist you in acquiring the skills you need to perform up-to-par when you’re hired full-time. It’s essential you use your internship as the training opportunity it represents.

You’re sure to have a bright future if you work hard, build positive relationships, and use the skills you develop in your internship to your advantage.

Who is an intern?

An intern is a trainee who has signed on with an organisation for a brief period. An intern’s goal is to gain work experience, occasionally some university credit, and always an overall feel for the industry they’re interning in.

An intern is primarily a support role at least in the beginning. When you join up, your main job will be to assist, learn, and grow. After you’ve settled in, you’ll be expected to pull your own weight.

What does an intern do?

So, what does an intern do exactly? That depends on the industry in question and the kind of internship you’ve signed up for.

Here’s a general overview of the work you can expect to do as an intern:

1. Assist and contribute to the team

In the beginning of your internship, you may your time simply trying to learn how the company works. You may shadow an employee to get an understanding of their role. After few days of learning the ins-and-outs of the company, you’ll start to assist and contribute more to the team.

Here are some day-to-day intern roles and their responsibilities :

  • Performing clerical duties
  • Managing social media and emails
  • Event handling
  • Research

2. Learn and gain experience

You’ll be expected to learn as much as you possibly can while you work, regardless of the kind of internship you’ve signed up for.

What kind of learning will you be doing? It can be broken down into two main areas :

  • Picking up hard skills : Hard skills are the technical skills you need to carry out your intern responsibilities, and eventually job duties, successfully.
  • Brushing up on your soft skills : Soft skills are as important as hard skills. Soft skills are all about your ability to relate to people and building mutually-beneficial relationships.

3. Job shadow

Job shadowing has become the norm recently. As the name suggests, the practice involves “shadowing” someone as they perform their daily duties, observing their activities, and learning what the role entails via indirect experience.

How does this work exactly? When you join the organisation, you may be assigned a mentor. The first few weeks, you may be tasked with following them around. Once you’ve shadowed for a while, you may be asked to help your mentor on projects or eventually take over some of their tasks.

4. Take on an increasing amount of responsibility

As time goes by, expect to shoulder an increasing amount of responsibility. Initially, they’ll gauge your current skill set and reliability with your initial workload. As you prove yourself to your colleagues and bosses, you’ll be entrusted with more crucial tasks. The better you perform, the more the responsibilities you’ll be given. Employers prefer quality over quantity – don’t afraid to ask for help if you need it.

5. Make a career call

Finally, usually at the tail-end of your internship, you have to make a career-defining decision: continue in the field you interned in or try your hand at something else entirely. You got a taste of what working in your industry full-time would be like. That’s the beauty of an internship you can always go into another field you would like.

Why internships are beneficial?

Here are some reasons that expand on why an internship is essential to your personal and professional development:

  • Tests industry knowledge
  • Helps you figure out your interests
  • Creates new interests
  • Connects you to industry professionals
  • Allows you to learn in a safe environment
  • allows you to get paid to learn

  • Allows you to potentially gain more internship opportunities
  • Creates a unique travel experience

Reasons Why An Internship is Important to All Students

  • Application of education and career exploration. Internships are a great way to apply the knowledge from the classroom to real-world experience. Learning is one thing, but taking those skills into the workforce and applying them is a great way to explore different career paths and specializations that suit individual interests.
  • Gain experience and increase marketability. Having an internship gives you experience in the career field you want to pursue. Not only does this give individuals an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs, it also prepares them for what to expect in their field and increases confidence in their work.
  • Learn how a professional workplace operates. Depending on your major, you may read about how organizations thrive and function in textbooks, hear from guest speakers who talk about organizational structures, or dive into case studies about workplace culture, but nothing compares to living the actual experience.
  • Professionalism. Internships can provide students with the soft skills needed in the workplace and in leadership positions. In a LinkedIn Skills Report (2018), 57% of people rated soft skills as being more important than technical skills. Skills, such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork can all be learned through an internship and utilized beyond that experience.
  • Build your resume. Most organizations and jobs that you apply to following graduation want employees to have some sort of professional experience, even for entry-level jobs. In the event that you are a finalist for a position and haven’t had an internship experience but the other finalist has, you may lose out on a job opportunity, so make sure you at least have one internship on your resume before leaving college to give you a leg up on the competition.
  • Figure out what you like and don’t like. While everyone probably wants to walk away from an internship feeling excited and passionate about the experience, there’s a silver-lining to be found if you didn’t enjoy the job: you’ll know what you don’t like. According to an article from monster.com, “figuring out what type of job you don’t want while you’re interning can help prevent you from accepting an ill-fitting job when you graduate.”
