SCIENCE: IN SERVICE OF MAN

“The Consistent efforts and the struggle for the expansion of everything in Life, be It: systematic Knowledge, nature, innovations, materials created a need for describing and Understanding the nature”. This need led to the birth of what is known today as “SCIENCE”. WE LIVE IN THE AGE OF SCIENCE. Science is a great BLESSING to mankind. Nothing better has happened in the history of man than the advent of SCIENCE in human life, and today, Science has become an important part of our lives. SCIENCE is a systematic and logical study towards how the UNIVERSE works. Science is a dynamic subject. Science can also be defined as the systematic study of the nature and behaviour of the material and physical universe, based on OBSERVATIONS, EXPERIMENT, and MEASUREMENTS and the formulation of laws to describe these facts, in general terms.

The world into which SCIENCE came, was a world of IGNORANCE, SUFFERING and HARDSHIP. Science has come to relieve us from sufferings, to remove our ignorance, and to lighter our toil. SCIENCE, has helped Man to lead a better life, than ever before! In all walks of life, man has made wonderful progress. You can see the use of SCIENCE in each and every aspect of our life. SCIENCE is an essential element in our life. Basic knowledge of SCIENCE is mandatory for everyone as it makes life easier and open our mind in many ways. Let’s see how!

HOW SCIENCE IS HELPFUL FOR US?
“HOW IT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN RELIEVING US FROM THE SUFFERINGS”?

Well, “SCIENCE IS A FAITHFUL SERVANT OF MAN”. It serves us in all walks of our life. It is our servant in the home, in the field, and in the factory. There are many events in our life, which makes us realize the PRESENCE OF SCIENCE. The FABRIC we wear, the brush and paste we use, COOKING, BOILING OF WATER, ELECTRICITY, TRANSPORT, CELL PHONES, etc., Everything is the consequence of advancement of SCIENCE. Science is involved in everything and Life is UNIMAGINABLE without it. SCIENCE has transformed our daily life. Gone are the days when only rich men could afford LUXURIES. Science has made them Cheap and has brought them within the reach of everybody. Books, music, and all other forms of entertainment has brought to our door, e.g, Radio, Television, and Cinema.

Man can travel anywhere now. It has made it possible to send messages or talk to someone in any part of the world, in the twinkling of an eye. The work of MONTHS and YEARS can be done in HOURS.

SCIENCE is the greatest blessing to the Housewives. A thousand devices have been placed at her disposal to lighten the toil. Then there are so many Electricity-run kitchen appliances in which cooking is a pleasure. Science has provided us with COMPUTERS and MACHINES, which have greatly increased our efficiency. We are better connected to people today and INFORMATION is only a click of the mouse away.

Hence, SCIENCE has made our everyday lives very comfortable. It is an essential element in our daily life. The advancement in SCIENCE have brought about many changes in our lives. The CIVILIZATIONS have progressed LEAPS and BOUNDS. It has entered our life so powerfully that we have even started thinking in a scientific way. AND,

“WE WANT TO KNOW HOW AND WHY OF EVERYTHING”.

Equality or Vote Bank?

To mend the follows of historic injustice, reservation system became part of post-independent India. The fight for reservation that started way back in colonial India is still going on in new forms. Many states have implemented or are mulling over the idea of reservation in private companies for the locals of the area. Many communities are demanding reservation. Earlier Patel community led demonstrations for reservation and now Maratha community from Maharashtra are following the same footsteps. Supreme Court unanimously paused the verdict on the validity of socially and educationally backward classes of citizens (SPBC) act, 2018. Classification of Marathas as socially and educationally backward class was deemed unreasonable because of the political dominance as well as financial well being. Indra Swahney case, 1992 was reiterated.

Historical overview of reservation
Caste based reservation was the brainchild of William hunter and Jyotirao Phule in 1882. It was introduced for the first time in Government of India act of 1909 in the form of communal award. It was part of the divisive policy of Britain. It made provision for a separate electorate for muslims which was extended to other religions and communities in 1919. Poona pact of 1932 gave reservation to certain sections of the society under the Hindu electorate.
In post independent India, originally constitution provided reservation in legislatures for a period of 10 years until 1960 to the scheduled cost and the scheduled tribes (Article 334 constitution of India). It was extended and presently it remains functional.
In 1990 mandal Commission was instituted. Based on its recommendation other backward communities were given reservation. The Mandal Commission reserved 27% in government jobs for OBCs. Indra Swahney case of 1992 upheld the 27% quota for backward classes and established that reservation should not exceed 50% of Indiaโ€™s population. The concept of creamy layer was also introduced. The latest reservation policy change place in 2019 through 103rd amendment act which reserved 10% government jobs an education institutions for economically backward in the unreserved category.

Constitutional status of reservation in India
Article 14 of constitution forms the basis for By legitimising the concept of equality as Equality before law and equal protection of law.
Article 15– reservation in educational institutions
Article 16– reservation in jobs
Article 330 and 332 -Reserves seat for SCs and STs in parliament and in state legislatures respectively
Article 243 and 233– Reserves seat for SCs and STs in panchayats and in municipalities respectively
-Special provisions for some states mentioned in Article 371

New demands
The new demands for quota put forward by many communities or the reservation for locals in private jobs by state governments like Haryana will have to stand the scrutiny of the judiciary. The experts are of the opinion that reservation is usually a trade off between social equality and merit. In most cases the quota policy is justifiable but its malafide use for vote bank politics is a cause of concern as it threatens Indiaโ€™s efficiency. The government must, at any cost, try to balance the two or else, the entire system of governance will bear the brunt. Now states have started using reservation for better opportunities for the people of the state. If things go south, this can discourage companies from making investment in such states. Fine tuning of the policy with larger goal of nation building should be the bedrock of any policy.

China’s ‘One China policy’

Since international media is putting on a lot of importance to subjects like the QUAD alliance and the New cold war, Taiwan is also attaining importance. Some analysts also suggest countries should enhance diplomatic relations with Taiwan to counter Chinese regional dominance. India following ‘one china policy’ does not recognise Taiwan as a sovereign nation.ย  The USA a major supporter of Taiwan also does not recognise Taiwan as a sovereign nation. Even China is so aggressive about the Taiwan issue that in May 2021 Chinese state media Global Times threatened Australia with missile strikes regarding Australia’s interference in the Taiwan issue. On several occasions, China has warned India to stay clear of the Taiwan issue.

Taiwan is a tiny island located southeast of China. The government of Taiwan call the island a “republic of China” it also alleged the communist party of China for the forceful occupation of China mainland. Until 1927, the government of China was run jointly by the Chinese nationalist party and the Chinese communist party. But after a split, the Chinese nationalist party (KMT) expelled the communist party and oppressed the communist party leaders. After the end of the civil war in 1949, the communist party emerged victoriously and the KMT party was expelled to Taiwan island where they established their government at the island. Because of the US military support communist couldn’t annex Taiwan ( Republic of China). Since then the govt of the ‘Republic of China’ has been ruling the island from the capital Taipei and mainland China is claimed by both Taiwan led china as well as communist China. Until 1971 Taiwan led china was the official representative of China at the united nations, but the “UNGA resolution 2758” transferred this right to communist china because of improving relation of Beijing with the rest of the world. The USA also got inclined towards China when in 1969 china-USSR war broke out and the US got to see a viable partner to counter the soviet union.

In 1979, the US recognised Beijing based “the people’s republic of China” (PRC) and withdrew recognition of Taiwan. the US wanted both countries to get recognition as separate countries with different identities. But neither of the two countries were ready to accept this. The increasing influence of communist china has almost isolated Taiwan and currently, only 23 small countries from the Pacific, Africa, and Latin America remember diplomatic relations with Taiwan. Also today the USA is the biggest partner of Taiwan, this support of the US was a strategic decision of the USA to strengthen its bargaining power against China.

India-Taiwan Relations

India officially recognised communist china right after the civil war in China in 1950. India became the second state after Myanmar to do so. This decision was on faith that Beijing can become India’s partner. This policy was based on a dictum that PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee used in his speeches, “you can change friends not neighbours”. This froze India-Taiwan relations during the whole cold war. But after the 1962 sino-India war, India lost initial hopes of good relations with its largest neighbour and became sceptical towards china. After the collapse of the soviet union in 1991, India adopted the ‘look east policy’ seeking improved relations with east Asian countries. This policy gave a diplomatic push to India-Taiwan relations and in 1995 established complementary representative offices, It’s an informal diplomatic relation with Taiwan maintained by the India-Taipei association (in Taipei ) and the ‘Taipei Economic and cultural centre’ (in India). In 2002 India and Taiwan signed a ‘bilateral investment agreement’ and started direct air connectivity in 2003. The then defence minister, George Fernandez also visited Taiwan in 2007. In 2010, reciprocating China’s adverse attitude towards Kashmir, India asked China to acknowledge the” one India policy” after this the informal visits between India and Taiwan became formal. In 2010 Taiwan also hosted then Indian president APJ Abdul kalam in their country. The “southbound policy (2016)” Taiwan emphasised good relations with ASEAN and South Asian countries. After Galwan crisis, India’s relation with Taiwan improved considerably and India appointed Gourangalal Das as envoy in Taipei.

Strategic importance of Taiwan

The geographical location of Taiwan is the most important aspect of geopolitics around it. This can be proved very important for an alliance such as QUAD in near future. ‘Sana Hashmi’, a researcher in the institute of international relations of Taipei recommends stronger relations of India and Taiwan and also highlights its importance in India’s indo-pacific strategy. Donald Trump reinforced his security commitments by increasing the frequency of naval ships in the Taiwan Strait. The second factor of Taiwan’s strategic importance is the sensitivity of the Taiwan issue for china. China’s response is always aggressive when any country tries to indulge in the Taiwan issue. As against india who always followed one china policy, china did not honour one india policy on Kashmir and always supported Pakistan and in the same way, india can make use of Taiwan.

Economic ties between India and Taiwan

According to ‘The Diplomat’ economic dimension is the most important aspect of india-Taiwan relations. During the 2002-2014 period, Taiwan invested 66 million dollars in india but in 2015 the total investment increased rapidly. Taiwanese company Foxconn has invested 5 billion dollars in India. The india-Taiwan bilateral trade was nearly 6 billion dollars in 2016. Taiwan has also been playing significant roles in India’s semiconductors, electronics, and communication industries. Taiwan can also be a good option for countries such as the USA, Japan and South Korea for diversifying crucial supply chains networks and for reducing dependence on China. Despite its tiny size, the economy of Taiwan is 600 billion dollars which is double of Pakistan’s economy. Indian parliamentary standing committee on india-china relations in its report in 2018 has also advocated for stronger Indian-Taiwan bilateral ties.

Now the question arises should India recognise the sovereignty of Taiwan? Seeing the current aggressive behaviour of China on the Taiwan issue, Rajeswari Pillai Rajagopalan of ORF opines that India perhaps will take more time to recognise Taiwan as an independent country.

Sustainable Home: Economical and Environmental Living

โ€œSustainable development is the pathway to the future we want for all. It offers a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice, exercise environmental stewardship and strengthen governance.โ€ย – Ban Ki-moon

Climate change is real. And the need of the hour is to conserve our renewable resources and switch to sustainable development to protect our environment. Green-building practices help us reduce our dependency on non-renewable resources and limited environmental pollution.

One of such green-building practices is sustainable housing or sustainable homes. Sustainable housing enables efficient use of resources and energy which helps in causing minimum impacts on the environment. Energy efficiency is one of the key features of this green-building practice. Some of the features of a sustainable house are: solar panels, foam insulation, low-emissivity windows, sealed attic spaces, advanced framing techniques, and energy-efficient heat pumps, etc. are some features which make a house sustainable.

What is a sustainable home?

A home that is energy efficient and is economical to run is called a sustainable home. It is build using raw- material which doesnโ€™t harm the environment. This goes for the waste material, which is generated in the process of building such a house too.ย

The choice of material is very important. The materials should be durable so that the cost of replacing or renovating can be avoided. It should include sustainably sourced timber, low volatile organic compounds finishes, and other material which can be recycled. Thermal mass can also be one of the considerations for materials because of their ability to absorb and release heat.

Types of eco-friendly sustainable house designs

TINY HOMES

Tiny homes are economical and use less energy, materials, and space than the average-sized home and environmental solution to living simply and sustainably. These are usually between 100-400 square feet, although some can be a bit larger or smaller. These can even be mobile, fitting on a trailer, and can be moved to different places.ย

PREFABSย

Prefabricated homes are known to be built off-site and ahead of time and these are made using fewer materials, energy, and space than the average-sized home parts shipped and assembled on the site. There are two kinds of prefab homes which are Panel build and Modular. The construction of both varies greatly. These create less waste than the regular site-built homes.ย

STRAW BALEย

Straw bale homes are made using bales of straw as an actual structural component or for insulation. Straw is a natural material that releases no harmful chemicals. Building straw bale homes is quite sustainable. Also, turning straw into something useful rather than burning it into waste helps in reducing the environmental pollution.

ZERO-CARBON

The annual net carbon footprint of a zero-carbon home is zero. These are still tied to the grid but are so airtight, insulated, and need low energy, that these have become carbon-free. These homes balance out any energy costs by producing enough renewable energy.

EARTHSHIPSย

An Earthship is completely self-sustaining which is constructed using both natural and recycled materials. Some of its features include heat and cool themselves naturally, collect wind and solar power, harvest water, etc.

Advantages of online classes

Nowadays online classes have become a new norm for students due to covid-19. It has some advantages. We can monitor our children’s activity easily from our home. We can train them, help them, talk to them, and understand things that we couldn’t have made if online classes were not there. They can learn things at a fast pace.

For your higher education if you take up online education it will cost you less compared to remote education. Because in online they are just going to take classes from home. Whereas in remote classes they have to travel and they will be tired at the end of the day. And time will be wasted due to traveling.

Another amazing thing about online classes is your attendance. Yiu can easily get them at the comfort of your home. All you have to do is just switch on your camera and mark your presence in front of the faculty. You don’t have to travel, dress up perfectly, can take your food on time, and can take a rest when you find the lecture not useful.

You can easily ask your doubts to your mentors. If you are in college or school you will find it difficult to ask doubts. But, here you can easily post your doubts on the chatbox and they will pick your questions and answer you. This couldn’t have been possible in remote classes. Where you can’t even share your opinions in front of everybody you will be nervous to open your mouth. Here you will remain anonymous and people won’t give so much attention to your doubts.

You can easily track your assignment deadlines and work on them to submit them on time. You can easily do the research on the topics they provided. You have to maintain self-discipline because if you miss the deadline they will scold you. So, be careful and submit them on time. Sometimes, they will conduct an open book test. You can easily find answers and score good marks.

Home is our comfort place. If we are learning from our home, it will be easier to concentrate more and easily grasp the ideas. We can sit and relax for some time even we can chat with our family members during the break which we can’t expect in offline classes. We may be surrounded by our friends but sometimes we may want to feel the comfort of our home. So, at that time online classes are so useful.

You can easily learn the technical problems and issues. If you are a computer science you might need your laptop and internet connection to know the problems all the time. Sitting at your home you can easily google them and can get answers in seconds.

All I am saying is online classes have lots of advantages. But, nothing will come without disadvantages. The above-mentioned things could be liked by someone or could be disliked. It depends on them. But in these difficult situations, online classes are the only solution and they are protecting and helping us to gain skills even though we are in our home.

Rainy season

The southwest monsoon season in India is from June to September. The northeast monsoon season is from October to December. It will often rain well during these two seasons. This year’s southwest monsoon started in Kerala yesterday. The Indian Meteorological Department said yesterday that it has started raining in the southern parts of Kerala

According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon has started in Tamil Nadu as well. The delta districts of Pudukottai and Sivagangai districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours due to heat wave and prevailing atmospheric circulation in the south-western coastal areas. World ocean day

This is the second year of a fully virtual celebration of the United Nations World Oceans Day due to the coronavirus pandemic, which hit the world last year.On June 8, the entire world comes together for the largest water body surrounding us, which is the ocean. It is an important part of our earth as it provides us with water, the most integral element that we need in our daily lives.

World Ocean Day History

This was first suggested in 1992 during the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The aim behind this was to not only celebrate the vast water body and its benefits in our lives but also to raise awareness about what can be done to make it a part of sustainable development. On December 5, 2008, a resolution was passed by the UN General Assembly to designate this day.

World Ocean Day Significance

UNESCO states that this day is observed to remind everyone that oceans are the lungs of our planet. Awareness is raised about how to conserve it and rescue it from the eventual degradation that is caused by our careless activities. Therefore, World Ocean Day is celebrated for this reason all across the world.

World Ocean Day Theme

This year, the theme of World Ocean Day is ‘The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods’. Owing to the pandemic, all the celebrations today will happen virtually

GLOBAL WARMING

Global Warming is defined as the rise in temperature of the earthโ€™s atmosphere due to the excess release of greenhouse gas in the environment. These greenhouse gases generally include gases like Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide. The human population is growing we are capturing more land by cutting trees. As the number of trees decreases they inhale less Carbon dioxide. The main reasons of global warming are industrialization, globalisation, deforestation and excessive use fuels which leads to Carbon Emissions.Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earthโ€™s surface. Normally this radiation would escape into space, but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter.
Disappearing glaciers, early snowmelt, and severe droughts will cause more dramatic water shortages and continue to increase the risk of wildfires in the American West.
Forests, farms, and cities will face troublesome new pests, heat waves, heavy downpours, and increased flooding. All of these can damage or destroy agriculture and fisheries.
Allergies, asthma, and infectious disease outbreaks will become more common due to increased growth of pollen-producing ragweed, higher levels of air pollution, and the spread of conditions favorable to pathogens and mosquitoes. There are several causes of global warming, which have a negative effect on humans, plants and animals. These causes may be natural or might be the outcome of human activities. In order to curb the issues, it is very important to understand the negative impacts of global warming.

Man-made Causes of Global Warming:
Deforestation:
Plants are the main source of oxygen. They take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen thereby maintaining environmental balance. Forests are being depleted for many domestic and commercial purposes. This has led to an environmental imbalance, thereby giving rise to global warming.
Use of Vehicles:
The use of vehicles, even for a very short distance results in various gaseous emissions. Vehicles burn fossil fuels which emit a large amount of carbon dioxide and other toxins into the atmosphere resulting in a temperature increase.
Chlorofluorocarbon:
With the excessive use of air conditioners and refrigerators, humans have been adding CFCs into the environment which affects the atmospheric ozone layer. The ozone layer protects the earth surface from the harmful ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun. The CFCs has led to ozone layer depletion making way for the ultraviolet rays, thereby increasing the temperature of the earth.

Natural Causes of Global Warming:
Volcanoes:
Volcanoes are one of the largest natural contributors to global warming. The ash and smoke emitted during volcanic eruptions goes out into the atmosphere and affects the climate.
Water Vapour:
Water vapour is a kind of greenhouse gas. Due to the increase in the earthโ€™s temperature more water gets evaporated from the water bodies and stays in the atmosphere adding to global warming.

How Can We Stop Global Warming?
Recycle more. The aim is to cut down the amount of carbon dioxide released in the environment.
Drive less.
Plant trees.
Switch to renewable energy.
Use energy-efficient devices. Use less hot water.
Turn off electronic devices.
Spread awareness.

Poverty

In 2019, the indian government stated that 6.7% of its population is below its official poverty limit.

India now ranks 94th among 107 countries in terms of hunger, and continues to be in the ‘severe’ hunger category according to the Global Hunger Index 2020. According to the study, 14% ofi indiaโ€™s population is undernourished. Last year, indiaโ€™s GHI rank was 102 out of 117 countries.More than 800 million people in India are considered poor.
Chhattisgarh is the poorest state with 39.93% of the population living below the poverty line.

Most of them live in the countryside and keep afloat with odd jobs. The lack of employment which provides a livable wage in rural areas is driving many Indians into rapidly growing metropolitan areas such as Bombay, Delhi, Bangalore or Calcutta. There, most of them expect a life of poverty and despair in the mega-slums, made up of millions of corrugated ironworks, without sufficient drinking water supply, without garbage disposal and in many cases without electricity. The poor hygiene conditions are the cause of diseases such as cholera, typhus and dysentery, in which especially children suffer and die.
Poverty in India impacts children, families and individuals in a variety of different ways through:
โ€ข High infant mortality
โ€ข Malnutrition
โ€ข Child labour
โ€ข Lack of education
โ€ข Child marriage

Poverty is linked with negative conditions such as substandard housing, homelessness, inadequate nutrition and food insecurity, inadequate child care, lack of access to health care, unsafe neighborhoods, and underresourced schools which adversely impact our nation’s children.
Conclusion:
we can avoid poverty in India with-
โ€ข Education
โ€ข skill development

Understanding our body.

In todayโ€™s tiring and stressful life, people have been neglecting their health constantly. Be it clocking in less hours of sleep, or being under intense amount of stress, leading to behavioral changes and changes in food habits. Every day brings something new to the table, but what should remain constant is our lifestyle and our daily nutritional intake.

As Denis Waitley once said, โ€œTime and Health are two assets that we donโ€™t recognize and appreciate until they have been depleted.โ€ We only become more conscious and aware of our lifestyle, when there are some fluctuations in our body.

As a society, we need to become more aware about the food we eat, the type of nutrients we consume on a daily basis, and for that, we need to understand our body first. Every person has a different nutritional requirement according to their body type. For someone performing resistance training or looking to build muscle mass, protein intake has to be significantly higher than the normal amount. For someone opting for high endurance training, high carbohydrate stores should be present in the body.

So letโ€™s start with the basics of nutrition. Few of the important things we need in our body are proteins, carbs i.e. carbohydrates, fats, fiber and vitamins. We will not delve into details for all of them, but the basic working of these will be explained below.

Carbohydrates, proteins and fats, all of these can provide us with energy in the form of ATP. However, carbohydrates is the most used form for ATP.ย  Depending upon an individualโ€™s basal metabolic rate, the requirements are different.

For Indians, if I assume a person is having a proper lunch including roti and rice, our carbohydrate and fat diet is pretty up to the mark. However for many people, especially vegetarians, protein sources are less. Hence, it is important to consciously eat more protein rich foods such as soya milk, tofu, paneer, dal and nuts. We need 0.8g protein for every kg body weight and hence protein intake should be at least 80% of the optimal requirement for normal bone growth and a healthy body.

One important aspect of diet that we usually overlook is fiber. Fiber helps for normal passage of food through our body and also helps in digestions. One should include fruits like apple and oranges, breakfast cereals, barley and oats along with beans and potato for fiber intake.

The next aspect of a diet is water. One should drink at least 6 glasses of water daily. Many people only drink water after exercising or during extreme thirst. One should make it a point to continually be sipping water throughout the day to keep the body hydrated and to flush out all the toxins from the body. Drinking water also helps keep the skin fresh and glowing. So, instead of looking at beauty regimes or when tackling skill problems, the first step should be to drink water.

The most underappreciated aspect of diet is sleep. Our body needs at least seven hours of sleep, and for kids, nine. Adequate amount of sleep ensure our body cells get regenerated and our brain gets rest. These are a few simple aspects of life that should one follow daily, and these show fast results, with improvements being seen from the very start.

How to be Mentally Strong

In life, there are tough times, and we need to make sure that we are mentally strong enough to deal with and get out of them. You need to control your emotions, choosing to stay positive whatever may be the situation.

  1. The obstacles which come in your life should be seen as stepping stones for your success. As we know, No pain No gain so take it up as a challenge.
  2. Exercise your mind, Take on a daily task through which you can stretch your mental endurance and gain stamina.
  3. You cannot control everything which is happening in your life, but you can control how to react to the situation positively or negatively.
  4. Don’t be so busy with your work that you don’t even have time for yourself. Have small self-talks and replace self-doubt with positivity.
  5.  Focus on the solutions and get tensed and learn from failures. Don’t repeat the same mistake because if the mistake is repeated it’s no more a mistake.
  6. Learn to let go of things. You need to focus on making yourself happy. Do things that make you happy. You don’t need to think about society.

Here are few habits which can help you be mentally strong:-

  1. Don’t let negativity enter your mind, Cut down the negative and self-talk and start saying good things to yourself
  2. Start meditating, Spend time with your loved ones
  3. Spending time with children can also help you relax with things
  4. Learn to say NO to things, be your own best friend, Give yourself self-time and self-care.
  5. Learn to manage your emotions, Acknowledge your strengths
  6. Learn from past experiences and try developing new skills.

The Mountain

We are a human being. We have a certain power. We have a certain strength.

Problems are like clouds. They come; they go. Sometimes they’re big; Sometimes they’re small. Sometimes they’re not there. Sometimes they’re there everywhere.

But the mountain that sits on the ground does not move with the clouds, doesn’t become bigger or smaller with the clouds. We are the mountain; clouds are our problems.

The Meaning Of Tomorrow

People say “now”, right? I have said “now”. And one day I was thinking about “now”. Now is the most elusive thing there is. Because by the time I say “now”, it’s not now anymore. So, by the time I finish saying “now”, now is gone.

Here is one for you. If you don’t understand the meaning of “one”, what is the point in going on to two? After all , “two” is just two ones.

Likewise, If you don’t understand the meaning of “now”, what is the point in trying to understand the meaning of “tomorrow” ? Because you would be pleasantly surprised that tomorrow too will be just full of a bunch of nows and no more different. You need in your life to know.

lakshadweep : paradise in trouble

A series of controversial changes by a BJP appointee is causing concern on the island chain. The island chain of Lakshadweep is in ferment. A string of regulations proposed by it’s administrator, Praful Khoda Patel, a politician of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has stirred a storm in the archipelago. Calls are mounting for withdrawal of the controversial rules and Patel’s recall. An archipelago of 36 island, Lakshadweep lies in the Arabian Sea. It is just 220 to 440 kilometers from the southern Indian state of Kerala. Its 70,000 strong population is predominantly Muslim. Their cultural and social identity could be under threat. Lakshadweep is a Union Territory, which means it is administered by the federal government through an administrator. The archipelago’s administrator has traditionally been drawn from the bureaucracy. Patel is the first politician to be appointed to the post. A junior minister for home affairs in Gujarat when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was chief minister of the state, Patel is known to be close to Modi. Patel is aslso administrator of the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagra Haveli and Daman and Diu. The policies he adopted there, which were similar to the ones he has introduced in Lakshadweep, have allegedlly benefited lobbies close to him while ignoring local residents. locals fear this will be the case in Lakshadweep too. Patel was appointed as Lakshadweep’s administrator in December 2020. Soon after taking charge, he scrapped the stringent quarantine measures for travelers from the Indian mainland to the archipelago. As a result, Lakshadweep, which had managed to remain COVID free in 2020, soon because a hotbed of coronavirus infections. On May 22, the union Territory reported a total tally of 6,611 positive cases. Its positivity rate is highest in the country. Additionally, Patel has introduced a slew of draft legislations that could have wide ranging impact on the island, and the lives and livelihoods of Lakshadweep’s residents.

A proposed land development plan gives the administrator vast powers to take over land and relocate people, and provides for stringent penalties for those who resist. The plan allows for mining and exploitation of minerals resources in the islands. Under the new rules, the slaughter of cows and transport of beef products has been made an offense. The Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Regulations provides for detention of a person without any public disclosure for a period of up to a year. The Patel administration has sought to justify the new rules by claiming that they are aimed at boosting economic development and promoting the archipelago as a tourist destination on par with neighboring Maldives. Indeed, tourist infrastructure in Lakshadweep is rudimentary and unempolyment is high. Providing the economy with a shot in the arm would be welcomed. However, critics point out that the law facilitates the transfer of land to corporations and would result in indigenous communities losing ownership of their land. It provides legal cover for the administration to take over land with or without people’s consent. It is the administration’s prerogative whether or not compensation needs to be paid. Locals fear that they will not benefit much from the development plan. already, fishermen have been evicted from the coast; shelters for their boats have been destroyed to clean up beaches for the setting up of resorts. It has impacted the livelihood of many fisherman. Additionally, the kind of development envisaged under the Patel will “cause the delicate ecology of the island to unravel,” according to marine biologist and scientist Rohan Arthur.

Importantly, there is concern that the BJP’s Hindutva agenda is driving Patel’s reforms. Steps like the beef ban and removing meat from students’ meal are seen as communal and anti-Muslim moves. The administration has also removed restrictions on the sale of alcohol. These moves have hurt the sentiments of Lakshadweep’s predominantly Muslim population. Protests are growing on the island and in social media. In addition to local residents, celebrities and opposition political parties are calling for withdrawal of the controversial legislations. They are demanding that Patel be recalled. Lakshadweep is strategically located. It lies close to the Maldives and important Sea Lanes of Communications in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. The island chain has provided New Delhi with little reason for concern so far. However, the recently introduced changes could turn a peaceful population into an angry and restive one.

Environmental change to demolish Indian storm!

“A worldwide temperature alteration sets stage for perilous downpours !”

The Indian storm is probably going to get significantly more perilous and wetter as an unnatural weather change adjusts the framework, new examination says. India has seen an adjustment of rainstorm design throughout the years as environment interruptions negatively affect the framework in the subcontinent. The exploration distributed in the diary Science Advances expressed that researchers dissected changes in the previous million years to reason that rainstorms are set for the more terrible. “We track down that the projected rainstorm reaction to continuous ice soften and rising carbon dioxide levels is completely steady with elements of the past 0.9 million years,” the exploration paper said. The group of analysts investigated mud tests recuperated from the Bay of Bengal to arrive at the resolution. The group bored 200 m long center examples during a two-month research visit on a changed over oil-penetrating boat, the JOIDES Resolution. The examples gave a top to bottom investigation of storm precipitation. Researchers investigated the fossils of tiny fish implanted in the example that had kicked the bucket more than many years as rainstorm downpours put more freshwater into the narrows, diminishing the saltiness at the surface.

Examining the examples, specialists tracked down that the high precipitation and low saltiness came following a time of high carbon dioxide focus in the air and falling ice volumes. “We can check in the course of recent years that the increase in carbon dioxide in the environment has been trailed by generous expansions in precipitation in the South Asian rainstorm framework. The expectations of the environment models are magnificently predictable with what we find in the previous million years,” Clemens was cited as saying by New York Times. The Indian rainstorm, which is one of the superb reasons for floods in a few pieces of the nations as streams get immersed from extreme precipitation, could arise as a significant concern for individuals as the danger of perilous season develops.

ย The storm is additionally key in farming that is subject to occasional downpours for irrigation.Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department said that the Southwest Monsoon has covered the upper east district, almost four days after its typical date. The Southwest Monsoon made a beginning over Kerala, which denotes the start of the four-month precipitation season, on June 3 following a deferral of two days. The framework has effectively covered Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since its appearance only days prior. In any case, the climate body has anticipated that the storm is required to be typical this season just as in June, a month basic for planting.

The route ahead is to regard the weakness of the locale. It can’t be anyone’s conflict that the Himalayan district should not see improvement. The inquiry to consider is the way it ought to be created: By building streets and hydro-power projects, or through nearby economies dependent on the travel industry, which don’t neutralize nature. It is likewise a reality that the changing storm example will expect us to enhance the utilization of each drop and not permit downpours to become crushing floods. Really at that time will the Himalayan misfortune not be rehashed.ย

Indians realize that the storm is the genuine account priest of India. Plainly the chance is to ensure that each drop of this downpour is collected and utilized in the drawn out dry season. Yet, this downpour will show up in more fierce occasions – which additionally implies that the designing to catch it the nation over should be better. We should get ready for seepage with the goal that when a downpour comes it tends to be channelized and enhanced. Holding and channelizing precipitation should turn into the country’s central goal. It is our best way to know what’s to come. This implies that each water body, each channel and each catchment of downpour must be shielded. These are the sanctuaries of present day India. Worked to adore downpour.

coffee that rules the world

Why is self-love important?

We have all heard great things about self-love and the people who manage to master it, when they say it, we feel like it is too much work. Why does the simple process of loving ourselves feel so distant?

To understand that, we must know what self-love is? It is not just the mere act of treating ourselves to our favorite ice-cream, or an hour of massage for relaxation. It is the act of not changing ourselves for the sake of others and staying true to ourselves. There are many forms of self-love. Not changing ourselves at all might be a stupid decision, because the world we live in, is so fast-paced that we will get left behind for sure if we donโ€™t change.

The slight difference between being stupid and being prudent is finding what really defines you. If a characteristic defines you, sets you apart in a crowd, then that is something that you should cherish and not change. Again, if it is something that is minimal, and trivial and causes problem unnecessarily, then you can think of ways in which you can modify it.

We all would have heard of world famous South Korean Boy Band, BTS. It is by their campaign of โ€œLove Yourself, Speak Yourselfโ€ that this concept of self-love spread to millions. Due to their huge fan base, ARMY, their message of staying true to ourselves, and loving ourselves for who we are and cherishing ourselves. When speaking about the band themselves, they faced many criticisms and had to face many backlashes for their identity as โ€œIdolsโ€.

They had constant support from their ARMY and they broke down the stereotype of K-Pop and are still breaking records by minute, because they found an identity for themselves and are helping many in their way.

We need not be a great artist or a famous person to find who we are. If you love your home cooked food rather than the fast food, then you have no need to change just because of peer pressure. If you love dressing according to the modern trends, then you can find a way to satisfy the societal norms without degrading yourself.

It is also important to remember that the person we love, should love us for who we are, rather than who we pretend to be for the society. If they force you change something about you because they donโ€™t like it, then it is better you leave them, be it friendship, relationship, whatever it may be. Always remember the people who love you wonโ€™t find faults with you, rather appreciate for it. Donโ€™t even compare yourself to other, you might not know what difficulties they might be facing and they might even feel jealous of you for something you have.

So, rather than feeling sorry for ourselves for bad things happening to you, look in the brighter side and be grateful for what you have and try to polish your talents, who knows, you might be the next BTS, helping lost people find their paths and be successful in your life.

Coviedshield vs Covaxin

Coviedshield vs Covaxin

Two doses of Covishield vaccine produced more antibodies than Covaxin doses, but there were relatively fewer instances of โ€˜breakthrough infectionsโ€™ after the latter, reports a study of healthcare workersย  in India.

The study is being peer-reviewed and has been submitted to a journal but appears as a preprint in MedrXiv, an online repository, and is among the few studies of the real world effectiveness of vaccination in India. The study, by a collective of doctors, shows that none of the participants, who were also all doctors and got both doses of vaccines, were ill and only about 6% tested positive at different points of the vaccination schedule. While both vaccines were protective, there were differences in the protection accorded by a single dose of the vaccines. 515 healthcare workers from 13 States and covering 22 cities were evaluated from January to May 2021. Their blood samples were also tested for the presence, quantity of antibodies produced and levels of the specific antibodies that are directed to the spike protein of the virus, widely held to be a proxy of protection. A single dose of Covishield elicited about 10 times the antibodies than Covaxin whereas a second dose narrowed the gap somewhat, with Covishield-triggered antibodies about six times that of Covaxin-stimulated ones, the study found. Though the spike protein remains the key target of most vaccines, ICMR and Bharat Biotech, the makers of Covaxin, have previously said that being a vaccine made out of an inactivated virus, it elicited a โ€˜broader immuneโ€™ response, meaning antibodies aimed at different parts of the coronavirus to neutralise it. T cell immunity, that is reported to elicit a longer lasting protection wasnโ€™t measured in the study. While real world efficacy data of Covaxin and India-centric data on Covishield isnโ€™t public yet, recent studies have shown that most vaccines including Covaxin and Covishield have reduced response to some coronavirus variants such as them .

The study authors also evaluated the relationship of immune response to gender, a history of testing positive for COVID prior to vaccination and co-morbidities. Dr A.K. Singh, of the GD Hospital and Diabetes Institute, Kolkata and among the authors of the paper, said the greater number of infections after the second wave was probably due to the increased number of cases after April and the high exposure of the study participantsย  all doctors in COVID hospitals to patients during the second wave.

Pollution

Pollution in India is a very familiar word to each one of us . We were borne with it and we are facing it . If we want our future children not to suffer from what we are suffering today we have to remove the pollution . Now the question arises how can we do the same ? There are a few measures following that can help us with the same :

Use of Eco friendly products = A lot of products that we use in our daily lives can cause a lot of damage to our nature . Such activities should be stopped as soon as possible .

Reducing dumping of waste = A lot of waste should be recycled instead of dumping in the rivers and drains which can cause immense dangerous effects to the aquatic life . This should be stopped as soon as possible .

Using Bicycles = We all must use bicycles in place of vehicles that consume petrol or diesel which can damage the environment .

These are some steps if we follow can change our lives to the extreme way and should be practiced as soon as possible .

ANIMAL CRUELTY

Animal cruelty is a big deal to people all across the world. The meaning of animal cruelty is inflicting pain and causing suffering to any type of animal. Animal cruelty is growing worldwide in todayโ€™s society, and the most common identified crueltyโ€™s is scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment. There are animals all throughout beaten and starved by their heartless owners.

The sadness, pain, and feelings animals have are all the same feelings that humans have when they are treated with cruelty, neglect, and abuse. Animal cruelty is a terrible crime that can lead to serious harm or even death of innocent animals. There are many organizations that are looking to seek help against animal cruelty.

Animal cruelty may not only occur when an owner beats or assaults their pet, but also during animal testing. Some owners are ignorant and do not even realize when they are abusing and neglecting their animals. In most cases though their are owners that are intentionally beating and starving animals. They do not have a voice like we do. It is time to stand up and make a change.

Stricter animal cruelty laws are necessary to prevent and stop the horrendous crimes committed against defenseless animals. Animals are abused in many different ways and it happens way too often.

It is up to us to bring awareness and help animals. All living things have a right to live on this Earth but we become insensitive to their pain, only because animals canโ€™t speak the language of humans.

We see abuse towards animals, but most of us never actually did anything because it is not our โ€œresponsibilityโ€. You should not ignore it and you should report it to the police.

History of Facebook

Facebook, American company offering online social networking services. Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, all of whom were students at Harvard University. Facebook became the largest social network in the world, with more than one billion users as of 2012, and about half that number were using Facebook every day. The companyโ€™s headquarters are in Menlo Park, California.

Access to Facebook is free of charge, and the company earns most of its money from advertisements on the Web site. New users can create profiles, upload photos, join a preexisting group, and start new groups. The site has many components, including Timeline, a space on each userโ€™s profile page where users can post their content and friends can post messages; Status, which enables users to alert friends to their current location or situation; and News Feed, which informs users of changes to their friendsโ€™ profiles and status. Users can chat with each other and send each other private messages. Users can signal their approval of content on Facebook with the Like button, a feature that also appears on many other Web sites. The attractiveness of Facebook stems in part from cofounder Zuckerbergโ€™s insistence from the very beginning that members be transparent about who they are; users are forbidden from adopting false identities. The companyโ€™s management argued that transparency is necessary for forming personal relationships, sharing ideas and information, and building up society as a whole. It also noted that the bottom-up, peer-to-peer connectivity among Facebook users makes it easier for businesses to connect their products with consumers.

In September 2004 TheFacebook added the Wall to a memberโ€™s online profile. This widely used feature let a userโ€™s friends post information on their Wall and became a key element in the social aspect of the network. By the end of 2004, TheFacebook had reached one million active users. However, the company still trailed the then-leading online social network, Myspace, which boasted five million members. The year 2005 proved to be pivotal for the company. It became simply Facebook and introduced the idea of โ€œtaggingโ€ people in photos that were posted to the site. With tags, people identified themselves and others in images that could be seen by other Facebook friends. Facebook also allowed users to upload an unlimited number of photos. In 2005 high-school students and students at universities outside the United States were allowed to join the service. By yearโ€™s end it had six million monthly active users. In 2006 Facebook opened its membership beyond students to anyone over the age of 13. As Zuckerberg had predicted, advertisers were able to create new and effective customer relationships. For example, that year, household product manufacturer Procter & Gamble attracted 14,000 people to a promotional effort by โ€œexpressing affinityโ€ with a teeth-whitening product. This kind of direct consumer engagement on such a large scale had not been possible before Facebook, and more companies began using the social network for marketing and advertising.Privacy remains an ongoing problem for Facebook. It first became a serious issue for the company in 2006, when it introduced News Feed, which consisted of every change that a userโ€™s friends had made to their pages. After an outcry from users, Facebook swiftly implemented privacy controls in which users could control what content appeared in News Feed. In 2007 Facebook launched a short-lived service called Beacon that let membersโ€™ friends see what products they had purchased from participating companies. It failed because members felt that it encroached on their privacy. Indeed, a survey of consumers in 2010 put Facebook in the bottom 5 percent of companies in customer satisfaction largely because of privacy concerns, and the company continues to be criticized for the complexity of its user privacy controls and for the frequent changes it makes to them.

Depression is the next cancer

there is a lot of misconceptions about depression these days .
there are total four types of depression which are
1.situational
2.biological
3.psychological
4.existential

ohh dont worry i am not going to explain all four in detail.
depression includes sadness ,irritablity ,loss of intrest in their usual activities and much more .
now, let us understand what causes depression
many life events like long term unemployment or loneliness ,prolonged work stress or loss of a family member .
and ya depression also can be genetic .
and the best thing about depression is that it is treatable
many a times just talking to the right person helps to curb this thing .

yes ,i agree that now a days our parents dont believe that depression a real thing .it is because they have been born and brought up in joint families with a lot of cousions whey they always had anyone to speak with and there were people who understood them and now there are nuclear families and workholic parents they hardly get any time to rest so talking with their child is way too much stress for them .they are always in search of more money more oppurtunities and they even forget about the mental health of their children .the funfact is that it is not even their fault .it is the generation gap where they lost the emotional touch with their kids in search of money.

parents must understand every second matters when they are with their kids anything they say can trigger the child towards depression ,maybe the parents might say something out of work stress and raise voice on their child and they dont even remember but they never know how much a child overthinks it and cries about it for years .

so a humble request for all the parents do find some time for your children talk with them understand their problems listen when they want to talk you might save a drowning life bring that emotional touch never dare to say that their problems are very silly ,the child must have prepared a lot and collected a lot of confidence to speack with you about the problems dont make them think that they wasted your time ,let me tell you that if you ever make your chgild think this way then dont ever think that your child will ever again speack to you about their personal problems .

listen to the crying souls who needs help
we ALL HAVE LOST SO MUCH IN THIS PANDEMIC so we cant afford to loose more save the children from depression .

Why vaccination is Important ?

India is dealing with the second wave of COVID-19 which have destroyed many families. It is expecting that upcoming third wave will spread more disaster and ruin several families if we canโ€™t control it on time. COVID-19 was an unexpected virus which was first discovered in Wuhan,China. In India, The first case of COVID-19 was found in January 2020 since the time our country is fighting it with strength and unity. It is a global pandemic through which every country in the world has suffered. The developed countries were not even able to control this virus. India has a 2nd highest population in the country and being a developing country and working hard to reach at the position of developed countries. It was very hard for us to maintain the balance between the economy and health.

Since 2020, Every country was working towards finding a vaccine which can help them overcome from the deadly virus. India has also developed two vaccines which is Covishield and Covaxin which passed all the stages of testing. First, It was available for those who were above the age of 60 years . After some months, Government allowed every person who is above 45 years to get the vaccine and fight strongly against the virus. Since, 1st May 2021 Government has allowed people above 18 years to get their vaccination done. It is a very tough job to vaccinate everyone in a country where the amount of population is massive. Many rumours have started since the time vaccine has been developed which created a new challenge in front of government to convince everyone for getting their vaccination done.Rumours can be spreaded very easily and have a huge impact on people who are not educated enough to know the difference between fake and real news. When the journalist asked some people , Several people have different reasons for not taking the vaccine. Influencing otherโ€™s mind in India is very easy. Multiple techniques have been practicing around spreading all the false information regarding the impacts of vaccine.

Everybody needs to understand that Vaccine was developed to help us fighting the battle with COVID-19 easily. It is a vaccine which provides your body a shield and develop stronger immunity in fighting the COVID-19. It is a life saviour medicine which can never harm you, It has gone through several stages of testing after approval by several authorities then any vaccine is approved for use. Now, It become our responsibility to spread awareness about the importance of vaccine and help them in every possible way. Being an Indian citizen, It is important to not spread any news before verifying it on any of our social media accounts. Health is very important and Vaccine is giving us a chance by providing a shield in protecting us and our loved from the virus. Take care of your family and friends.

busting the myths associated with online education

okay,so everyone will be very much familier with online education “a 21st centuary approach to education ” and you all may have your own opinions about it .

due to the global pandemic of corona virus the education system is going online and there are many stereyo type thinking about it .you will be surprised to hear that you are one too.i bet there surely will be a myth that you believed but not anymore .

#myth no 1. online education is ineffective in providing actual education
if a student actually want to learn something and has a thirst for it then he will anyhow succeed in it weather online or offline . there are so many lazy students who take the umbrella of this myth and say that they dont provide actual education .well you should think again if they dont provide actual education why would even students opt for that .everything has it own struggles you cannot just escape by saying it is not worth .unless you are willing to do hardwork for it you are never gonna get it .

#myth no 2 . online classes are easier
if you think this than you are great good hardworking person .online classes are not actually easier they tend to be more demandind and require more time . it often becomes monotonous by time . it is not that easy to commit for a long time .

#myth no 3.students lose intrest during e learning
this dont seem fair ,students can lose intrest even while sitting in front of the teacher in a classroom .this has nothing to do with screen presence but more to do with the mental presence of students .

#myth no 4. technology is tough
aaplications and online learning platforms are very difficult to understand ,well thats not always true . this is the 21st centuary and the applications are quite user friendly and secondly if your institution is giving online education it will definately provide you enough knowledge about the application they are using .

#myth no 5. employers dont value online education
if you are worring about this point you can relax employers may ask why did you choose online education but ultimately your skills matter and nothing on your diploma or transcripts will indicate you are an online student if taken from a valuable university unless you tell them .so take a chill pill and stop worrying

NCC – Elective course

National Cadet Corps (NCC) the worldโ€™s largest voluntary uniformed youth organization formally established on 15th July 1948, under XXXI Parliamentary Act. It Consists of 3 wings- Army wing, Air Wing (raised in April 1950), Naval Wing (raised in July 1952) which represents the all the three Defense Service. So far NCC has been considered as a club activity or extracurricular activity. Now the Government has taken the decision to NCC as General Elective Credit Course (GECC), this decision was taken as per the New Education Policy 2020, where students can choose their subject of interest not confined to the ones offered by the institution alone.

NCC will be GECC under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in at least 91 Universities and not as extracurricular activity. This happened as a result of letter passed by the UGC (University Grants Commission) to all the Universities on April15.

The โ€˜Bโ€™ and โ€˜Cโ€™ Certificate exam syllabus has been designed as per CBCS of NEP 2020 which provides a total of 24 credit points for 6 semesters. The students will be receiving 4 credits in semester one and two, 10 credits for third and fourth semester and rest of 10 credits for fifth and sixth semester. The current strength of NCC cadet is about 14.2 lakhs who receive basic military training under the organization.

By making NCC as an elective course it would reach out to more youth in the nation and help them get more opportunity to explore many activities.

How to Stay Motivated

I recently finished Steve Martin’s wonderful autobiography,ย Born Standing Up.

Martinโ€™s story offers a fascinating perspective on what it takes to stick with habits for the long run. Comedy is not for the timid. It is hard to imagine a situation that would strike fear into the hearts of more people than performing alone on stage and failing to get a single laugh. And yet Steve Martin faced this fear every week for eighteen years. In his words, โ€œ10 years spent learning, 4 years spent refining, and 4 years as a wild success.โ€

Why is it that some people, like Martin, stick with their habitsโ€”whether practicing jokes or drawing cartoons or playing guitarโ€”while most of us struggle to stay motivated? How do we design habits that pull us in rather than ones that fade away? Scientists have been studying this question for many years. While there is still much to learn, one of the most consistent findings is that the way to maintain motivation and achieve peak levels of desire is to work on tasks of โ€œjust manageable difficulty.โ€

NEET IS NOT IMPORTANT FOR TAMILNADU WHY

NEET is an important exam for medical entrance exam in India. In India there are many syllabuses for each state it differs but there is also a syllabus which is common that is called as Central Board of Secondary Education. If we study in this central board of secondary education we can gain more marks in this NEET exam. As the system and invention get devolped we should also try to accompany through it and live. Day or time will not stay with us it would be changing we also be changing we are not as before 20 years we all have changed a lot. NEET exam came into an existence in the year 2013 within 8 years it had made many changes in this medical field. NEET is an exam for the medical students to study in government medical college they should write this NEET exam as an entrance exam. We should get more marks in 12 exam to get an eligibility of writing this NEET exam then in this NEET according to the cutoff mark will be selected. Many students didnโ€™t able to clear this NEET exam so they went to foreign countries to learn after learning if they come to India to work as a doctor, he/she must work in a government hospital for 1 year and also write a exam then only they can be consider as a doctor. National Medical Commission (NMC) is an Indian regulatory body of 33 members which regulates medical education and medical professionals. It replaced the Medical Council of India on 25 September 2020. There are some medical colleges in India nearly five hundred forty two colleges but students are many then than the colleges. The medical council has decided to filter the students so that they have introduced this NEET. This NEET exam is very highly pressure for the students who are in villages because they couldnโ€™t write it easily in Tamilnadu, we are following a syllabus which is totally different from this CBSE syllabus so this is very difficult. Many students are affected by this NEET exam when they didnโ€™t do the exam well are on the result many students have lost their life. In every year during the NEET exam and on the result day all will be in a tensed situation. There are many rules to write this exam it itself terrifies all students in tension some forget what they are doing. So for all this situation court told to give seven percentage seats for the students those who are in villages so that there were 33,000 people who wrote the exam in it 450 students were selected. In Tamilnadu we donโ€™t want NEET exam because of that many students have lost their life. Only when students go far a coaching centers they can clear this exam some parents force their children force their children from sixth standard itself and some parents change the school to CBSE from eleventh and twelth standard itself then there students cannot study well as in that school. So we Tamilnadu strictly prohibit this NEET exam because of this many students have no confidence in themselves that I can achieve anything in life. If there is no NEET many problems will come to a solution.

How can we prevent the next pandemic?

We can start by learning from countries that have limited pandemic deaths much more successfully โ€“ like Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, Denmark and New Zealand. Here are eight lessons we can learn from them:

Be Preparedย

Make sure we have a Pandemic Plan weโ€™ve tried, tested and learned from (not simply shelved if we didnโ€™t like the results).

*Ensure weโ€™ve got the capacity to respond. In a pandemic, countries all over the world will be competing to source diagnostic tests, PPE (personal protective equipment) and ventilators. This means we need a stockpile of equipment โ€“ plus UK based diagnostic and equipment companies, so we can be self-sufficient if we need to.

*Make sure we have enough CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) masks. They are a lower cost, less invasive aid to breathing compared with ventilators, although ventilators will still be needed for the most serious cases.

*Involve logistic/emergency planning experts (from the military, private sector or disaster relief charities) from day one, to ensure policies are deliverable and to oversee successful implementation – like making sure the right PPE gets to where it is needed, when it is needed.

*Hospital beds probably arenโ€™t an initial priority. Thatโ€™s because prevention is always better than cure and we now know how to turn exhibition centres into hospitals at short notice if we need to.

*What we canโ€™t do at short notice is turn people into doctors, nurses and public health professionals from scratch. So, we need to start training more health professionals now. Given recent NHS winter crises weโ€™ll probably need them for years ahead anyway.

Take Public Health Seriously

What COVID-19 has illustrated is that in pandemics people with underlying health conditions are usually most at risk of dying โ€“ and with COVID-19 that includes people who are obese.

A doctor currently working in an ICU unit with COVID-19 patients advises us, โ€˜Unfortunately COVID patients with obesity donโ€™t usually do well. Iโ€™ve personally seen this on multiple occasions. Obesity affects pulmonary function and lowers lung compliance, which negatively affects ventilator management.โ€™ Patients like these are most likely to require weeks of expensive, time consuming intensive care and put huge strain on the NHS and its doctors and nurses. Some health conditions are unavoidable and we donโ€™t want to start victim blaming – but the risk of many health conditions can be reduced by following a healthy lifestyle. Importantly, as we have identified as a health charity, thereโ€™s much more governments, businesses and employers can do to make healthy choices the easy choices for people.

If people are healthier this wonโ€™t stop pandemic deaths โ€“ but it should reduce them. This means that instead of cutting funding for Public Health, the front line in disease prevention, the government should be investing in prevention.

Donโ€™t Waste Time โ€“ Respond Quickly

When a new virus emerges there’s a chance that its true extent and impact will initially be under-reported in the country of origin, whether to save face politically or because of difficulty diagnosing the virus. That’s the first potential delay. Then, there’s likely to be a time lag while scientists try to identify the virus, its speed and spread of infection, its effect on health and how best to contain it โ€“ and while politicians consider the implications.

Border Control

Pandemics donโ€™t respect national boundaries. International travel by land, air or sea (including cruise ships) can help the rapid spread of pandemics. So, it makes sense to close borders early (and arrange for returning Brits to go into quarantine).

Build and maintain public confidence

This is important if action like nationwide social distancing needs to be introduced and then sustained. Our advice to government is:

*Promise less, deliver more – so you build credibility

*Lead by example – visibly do what you’re telling the public to do.

*Ensure you’ve got the right experts working with you (including logistic experts and experts in the immune system), so you can agree the right policies and then deliver on them.

*Share the advice you’re receiving with the public, so they can understand what they are being asked to do and why.

Conclusion

What we have learned from the rapid spread of COVID-19 around the world is that, as in most aspects of health, prevention beats cure. That means:

*Be prepared for a pandemic (in reality not just on paper)

*Take public health seriously โ€“ because a healthy population will usually be more resistant to infection

*Donโ€™t waste time โ€“ respond quickly, including border controls

*Track, Trace and Isolate โ€“ to deprive the virus of the human hosts it needs to spread

*Stop hospitals and care homes spreading infection โ€“ by taking the action needed to reduce the number of cases needing medical treatment in the first place while ensuring thereโ€™s enough PPE for staff when cases do need treatment.

*Build and maintain public confidence – leading by example and delivering what you promise.

“REASONS WHY TOO MUCH SUGAR IS BAD FOR YOU”

“REASONS WHY TOO MUCH SUGAR IS BAD FOR YOU”

Consumption of a high amount of sugar causes several diseases. Sugar is a sweet poison that is bad for you and it damages the body gradually from the inside. 52 percent of the whole population is suffering from serious diseases and the consumption of sugar is directly or indirectly reason for the contraction. Indian’s use sugar in almost everything. Sweetened tea is the main source because many people drink tea many times a day. The awareness among people about the diseases caused by sugar is, therefore, the need of the hour.

Some of the risk factors caused by the consumption of sugar are as follows:

DIABETES:
Diabetes is the most common disease caused by sugar. One of the strongest risk factors caused by too much consumption of sugar is obesity. Obesity then causes diabetes. Moreover, it causes insulin resistance. This resistance increases the blood sugar level that increases the more risk of diabetes type 2.

According to a survey, the core reason for increasing diabetes worldwide is the high consumption of beverages like soda, cold drinks, and packed juices. People who prefer more sweet beverages are more likely to get diabetes than others.

SKIN AGING:
Skin aging is a natural process but one can get wrinkles and pre-mature skin aging at a young age because of the consumption of high sugar. The reaction between sugar and protein is formed by advanced glycation end products. This reaction causes a key role in skin aging.

Consumption of the products high with carbohydrates and sugar leads to many other skin problems. According to a survey, women who consumed more sugar developed wrinkled and dark circles quickly than those women who did not consume high sugar.

Lower consumption of sugar gives fresh and better skin appearance.

CANCER:
Excess of anything is bad, so excessive sugar consumption is also bad for you. It increases the risk of cancer. High consumption of sugar through foods and beverages increases the chance of cancer.

Over 430,000 people were found with cancer due to the consumption of sugar. Due to sugar, they developed esophageal cancer, small intestine cancer, and pleural cancer.

A survey showed that women who consume sweet buns, cakes, and cookies 3-5 times a day have more chances to develop endometrial cancer. Women who take a normal amount of sugar and consume less sugary products have been observed as healthy and better in shape.

HEART DISEASES:
The number one cause of death worldwide is heart diseases. High sugar consumption leads to obesity first, then diabetes and then inflammation in the body. It causes blood sugar and high blood pressure which ultimately attacks the heart. Moreover, the trend of consuming too many beverages like sweetened drinks and sugary juices; causes atherosclerosis. This disease causes artery-clogging deposits.

A research was conducted in which 30,000 people were observed, among them those who consume 17-21 percent of calories from sugar had a 40 percent high risk of death from heart disease.

PROBLEMS FACED BY WOMEN.

There are lots of problem faced by women, the problems faced by women are categorised into four.

Married and working:

The women who are all married and working, they face problems like doing household works and also their jobs simultaneously. This brings them heavy work load and makes them weak and tired and also soon they will suffer from damage of bones. The solution for these problem is they may separate their work to their family members so that their burden may reduce and they will work peacefully without any disturbances.

Married and not working:

The women who are married and not working, they face problems like dominated by men, that they donโ€™t know anything if they suggests ideas or talk about something. Some men show their angry to them that they are not working for balancing their income for households. The solution is they may work from their home like stitching. This may make them not feel so guilty.

Not married and not working:

For these people they are dependent on their parents or some others for leading their life. This will not make them difficult in initial days, but when they see some people with family and working, they become very depressed and this may lead to make them wrong decision. The solution is they may help orphans in orphanage like teaching them and working for them, by doing these works they may relief from depression.

Studying girl:

For studying girls there are not much problems to face, the only thing is they may go wrong being more affection in person and make wrong decisions, this may spoil their life. The solution is they should control their emotions till they become mature and come to a good position in their life. For that they must join with good friends so they may lead their life in good manner.

A way to become good at anything

  1. Do it every day. โ€” put at least 2โ€“3 hours into practicing your craft. There is a quote by albert Einstein which goes as, โ€œInsanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different resultโ€ .But it is only partly true as the full truth is doing the same thing over and over and over, making it second nature by practising it intensely is what grants us the ultimate power of mastery in it. Repetition is the key to learning because for humans, preconceived knowledge forms the basis of logic and mastery. One cannot simply hope to attain mastery without repetition and application in reality, you cannot play chess or read a physics book once and hope to become an international chess player or scientist, one must do it every day consistently and then only after some time, the sweet food of perfection can be tasted.
  1. Be willing to make mistakes โ€” fail and fail again, itโ€™s part of the process. Every time we are not hitting the bullseye, we are hitting something that is not bullseye meaning that we get additional information about the coordinates of the target because in real life the target is not as clearly visible as in archery, life is like the undiscovered part, so every information is equally important , the information one gets after failure is as important as success. It teaches us what should be avoided and often new discoveries are found in failure too. Regardless of all that, failures are pivotal.
  1. Learn from people who have done it or know better โ€” books, courses, coaches, etc. there is no need to reinvent the wheel each time when something new comes up in our way.  History repeats itself and whatever you are trying or doing, possibilities are someone has done it already or doing it the same way you are. Good advice and advisors are those resources which are very less talked about, their importance is not known by those who don’t have them, instead those who have know how valuable they are. Introspection , perspective and good advice are very important when there is a goal to be achieved especially when one has to become best at something, therefore seek and listen to those who know better.
  1. Surround yourself with people who are a bit above your level โ€” the challenge will make you better. The adrenaline rush in a healthy fierce competition between rivalry can push anyone to strive for more, to become better than the other. Best is after all, the one better than the rest. If there is no environment and surrounding to support the growth, all becomes useless. People in our surrounding matter a lot, although that is not always the case as we can see many cases which rather prove the contrary but the bigger known truth is surrounding does play a role at least for a normal non extraordinary person. When you are surrounded by smart people, you are learning even when you are talking to those colleagues , simple conversation boosts your morale and knowledge.
  1. Celebrate small wins. Made a bit of progress? See it as proof you are getting better โ€” no time for negative self-talk. We also should focus less on relativism/comparing to others at the end of the day and know that we all walk our own unique paths, so we shouldn’t be too harsh on ourselves for not improving as fast as we’d like.
  1. Be patient โ€” remember to master anything it takes at least 10,000 hours of practice, and this is the one thing which many people fail at and remain from being the best at what they do. This is the one thing which keeps the majority from achieving the set goal and attaining supremacy in any field of work.
  1. Remember that it is not about achieving success or gaining a high paying job or finishing the course, it is about becoming worthy. Become really good at what you do, attain perfection in that art, make it your second nature and rest is just formality. Have a desire to learn , want the want to know nitigrities and ins and outs of that subject matter and ultimately after some time it will just start coming to you naturally.

Religion and politics

India is a secular country and is like home for many religion , caste , diversities and always known for the equality in diversity but being home for many cultures, the country is divided by the religions and caste. This is breaking strength of the country and giving rise to the minorities. Certain minorities facin problems due to their religion or caste need to be brought into consideration ans pronvided privileges equal to the others.

There is debate on need of column for religion and caste in official forms in India. Many politicians and celebrities demanded the column for religion and caste in forms. From school admission forms to visa, passport and even forms of competetive exams have a specific column for religion and caste to be filled. Not only in education field but in everuy field there is a specific column for religion and caste. Many politicaians play politics on the topic of religion and caste.

secularity means equality among all the religions, diversities and cultures in a country. India is a secular country that means it distributes equal rights, benefits and opportunities to every religion or caste. In such secular country like India the need to specify oneโ€™s religion or caste might seem to many as contradiction to the concept of secularity.ย

Also reservation is too important for some minorities and truely backward sections of the society which is possible if one specifies religion and caste in the forms. It also helps in maintenance of government database and providing benefits and equal opportunities to all in the field of education, job etc. It helps government to check the equally gorwth of every section of society and providing equal opportunities to them.

Its true, many of such (so called)backward section misuse the thier privileges and reservation given to the minorities. But the people who have genuine need, it is important to provide them reservation and privileges. Becomes a necessity to avoid unequal treatment of various categories in India.

CASTE DISCRIMINATION: STILL PREVALENT IN INDIA

“Crimes against the historically marginalized SCHEDULED CASTES and SCHEDULED TRIBES by the upper caste represents an extreme form of PREJUDICE and DISCRIMINATION. Similar to the hate crimes in other parts of the world, these groups have remained target to the crimes and atrocities at the hands of the upper caste people mainly on account of their low caste identity in the form of rape, abuse by Police Personnel, harrasment, illegal land encroachments, forced evictions and so on”! Hence, it has been rightly said by MAHATMA GANDHI that,. “The purification required is not of UNTOUCHABLES but of the so called- SUPERIOR CASTE”.

INDIA is a country which is known to be very cultural throughout the world and a person can find many RELIGIONS and CASTES in here. However, the culture rooted deep in the country also has various problems. Even after 74 years of INDEPENDENCE, we are a country that has a prevalent problem of CASTEISM. It is a SOCIAL EVIL, but still holds a prominent place in INDIAN CULTURE. But,. “WHAT IS THIS CASTE SYSTEM”? THE SYSTEM THAT HAS DESTROYED SO MANY LIVES! HOW DID IT EMERGE? DOES IT STILL EXISTS? Well, YES! IT STILL EXISTS.. The CASTE SYSTEM in INDIAN CULTURE is prevailing for ages. CASTEISM refers to discrimination based on the caste of a person. From ancient times until now, the caste system has always held a sturdy base in Indian society. CASTE in INDIA was used as an identification of an individual as to which family the person belonged to, which also meant which field of work he was involved in because of his family. The FOUR PRIMARY CASTES of the HINDU COMMUNITY are: BRAHMANS, KSHATRIYAS, VAISHAYAS, AND SHUDRAS. The first three classes were considered upper and the last class, that is, SHUDRAS were considered as LOWER CASTES. Later, they were known as SCHEDULED CASTES AND SCHEDULED TRIBES! The Caste system was made to divide work among groups of people to maintain balance in the society with the distribution of occupation. But since this caste system was carried out from one generation to another in families, it soon became HEREDITARY. Hence, Became the Source of Exploitation of the lower castes. Basically, the religious and social circles dictate CASTEISM in India. Mostly, people living in rural AREAS, are facing this problem tremendously. During the early times, the villages were segregated on the basis of their CASTES. They were made to live in separated colonies. Even the place for buying food and getting water were different from the upper castes. For instance, the higher castes people that is, BRAHMANS never touched anything which belonged to the people of lower castes. When we look at the PRESENT SCENARIO, the impact may not be as severe as in the Early periods, but it is still worrying. The people of the upper castes are very much looked up to, and given access to all amenities. Whereas on the other hand, the ones from the lower CASTES, are not given such respects even today in certain areas. Sometimes, they even don’t get the same rights. According to the ARTICLE 15 of the INDIAN CONSTITUTION, “THE STATE is PROHIBITED FROM DISCRIMINATING ANY CITIZEN ON THE basis of CASTE, RELIGION, SEX, CREED, LANGUAGE, RACE, PLACE OF BIRTH OR ANY OF THEM”.

ARTICLE 17 states that “UNTOUCHABILITY IS ABOLISHED AND ITS PRACTICE IN ANY FORM IS FORBIDDEN”. BUT, has these laws and articles been implemented fully? Has these articles been successful in eradication of caste based discrimination from INDIA? WELL, THE ANSWER IS NO! Despite many schemes, articles, and provisions, there are many parts in INDIA where the SCHEDULED TRIBES AND SCHEDULED CASTES still face significant differences.

At the height of COVID-19 LOCKDOWN in APRIL, MADHU, a young boy in his 20s found himself out of work in BENGALURU. He returned to his hometown in ALUR MANDAL of Karnataka’s Hassan District. He was in love with a girl who belonged to politically dominant community. Her family did not want her to marry a DALIT. So, after some days he was shot dead by the girl’s uncle to end the relationship. There are so many girls and boys like MADHU, in INDIA who have been murdered brutally just because they were from the LOWER CASTE. This shows the ugly reality of CASTE VIOLENCE AND CASTE DISCRIMINATION even in the URBAN AREA.

According to the ANNUAL CRIME IN INDIA REPORT 2019 published by NATIONAL CRIMES RECORD BUREAU (NCRB), a crime against a scheduled castes and schedule tribes has recorded an increase of over 7% and 26% respectively in 2019. Hence, it is high time, one should realise that THIS CASTE SYSTEM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNDERDEVELOPMENT OF INDIA. It is high time one has to do away with this. As it has been rightly said by DR.B.R AMBEDKAR that,. ” CASTE IS A STATE OF MIND. IT IS A DISEASE OF MIND”. And one should not associate with this kind of disease.

ARE COACHING CENTRES REALLY WORTH IT?

This is probably the biggest question in the head of almost all the incoming high schoolers. Should I join Allen? or maybe Aakash? or maybe do an Online coaching?

You know, you should consider working by yourself. Many a times the power of self study is left behind and children are forced into such coaching’s forcefully even without considering what they want to study. The Indian mentality in families has always been either IIT or AIIMS. It has never been anything else, If a science student plan on pursuing a a humanities degree. It is something for the parent to be worried about.

Now back to the topic, are they worth it? I would personally say they are not. They unnecessarily pressurize the student to another version of themselves. For some students it might be something they want but majority of the case there is an increase of psychological stress and physical stress on the individual. There are examinations held on a fortnight basis in such places and the difficulty levels are much higher than what a lot of people expect it to be. The low marks after the exam are another bad factor playing in depression and suicides. India widely observes a large number of student suicides only due to this. Places such as Kota, ignore all the needs of a student and only focus on the academic path of the student. Many times, due to the absence of friends and parents, students feel like no one supports them and they feel worthless which again causes a variety of problems.

The first way to see through all this would be for the parents and students to think this through as coaching centre may have their own pros and cons, many students would consider the pros over the cons and that is okay. Just think about it before you jump into anything!

The rising rape cases in India

Rape is the fourth most common crime against women in India. And sadly, almost 95% of rape cases in India go unreported. The rape SURVIVORS (not victims) get oppressed because of the societal stigma.

There have been debates around how rapes can be stopped by giving a stricter capital punishment and appropriate sex education. But is that it? No, there are several contexts where we, as a society, are messing up.

  • It is more than obvious that our great society has gone to the extents of blaming a victim to the core for what she was wearing and at what time she was out of her home. But what these people tend to overlook are some basic statistics. In approximately 94.2% of rape cases, the accused was known to the victim and in most cases, relatives were found to be guilty for the latter. In contradiction to these facts, some reknowned people have also went on to give horrendous statements like-“Rape cases have been constantly rising because women have stepped out of their homes to work.” And these statements are mostly given by very educated people.
  • On the other hand, our laws believe that only one gender can be abused and is not ready for the inclusion of violence and non-consensual sex against anyone other than women in the list of “lawful crimes”. The definition of the term “rape” in itself gives an impression of a crime only a man can do against a woman.

Whenever a brutal rape crime shakes our country, people go on to demand mob lynching and death penalty for the guilty. But there are no statistics to prove that capital punishments will reduce this crime. In fact, it can result into repercussions on the victim itself.

Studies conducted by psychologists on rapists and murders side by side prove that- while murderers were well aware of what they were getting themselves into, rapists mostly blamed the victims for what had happened to them and it comes as no surprise that this notion comes from the societal practice of victim blaming.

  1. Moral education – The whole argument points towards moral education as a part of our curriculum as the need of the hour. People highlight the importance of sex education, but moral education would play a more massive role in this.
  2. Better environment for raising children- Parents should be given basic counselling on the values to be imparted to their children and how they should be raised. The way children are raised can affect a child’s mentality and the kind of human being they will go on to become in their future.
  3. Better conviction rate- The conviction rate in India is only 30%. In this case, rapists think that even if they get caught, there is very little chance that they will get actually get convicted or punished for the crime they have committed. The amount of pending cases in our courts make this scenario even worse.
  4. A better society- All the above points will automatically result in a better environment for the survivors and people in general which is the ultimate goal.

“Rape is the only crime in which the victim goes to become the accused.”

And are we ever going to speak up against that?

How the admissions will be designated- Will it decide the precise career of the students or stamp it out!

The significant stretch of vulnerability might have been abbreviated definitely if just government strategy counselors had been more aware of the alerts of the second Covid flood conveyed in November 2020. All things being equal, among February and April, valuable time was squandered clearly trusting that the subsequent wave would mysteriously vanish. Not long before the subsequent wave hit, we were obviously in a condition of forswearing, accepting that the fight against Covid-19 was at that point won, and henceforth we would just have to postpone the tests, generally held in March, by a couple of days or weeks.

In the event that antibody creation, obtainment and dispersion had been arranged shrewdly and fairly, we might have thought about completely immunized understudies showing up for in-person tests, inside reasonable timetables, a chance caught correctly by this tweet.Acknowledging the probability of a subsequent wave might have goaded the public authority and loads up to connect insight-fully with the assessment issue prior, when the wave was at its underlying stage. We would, around there, have been more ready with suitable choices after conversations between all partners. Be that as it may, presently, numerous appropriate choices identified with this wiping out, including how Indian schools ought to choose which understudies to concede, will be discussed swiftly, even as colleges and universities sit tight for the “obvious target measures” to be uncovered soon by the various sheets.

The primary issue is that checking plans for school tests fluctuate from one board to another, however even inside a similar board, from one school to another, and from one area to another. There are schools, regardless of the board they are associated to, which mark too rigidly at the school level, accepting that will spur understudies to improve in the all-pivotal board tests. In any case, there are additional schools which mark generously to give understudies a certainty support in front of board tests. At that point, there are schools in far off locales where the nature of stamping is totally at odds with their city partners. In ordinary conditions, the board tests level a portion of these distinctions. It will be difficult to address the impact of these variables in any plan that the sheets utilize to create “surveyed grades”.

It is a given that the presentation of understudies will have been archived by various schools to various degrees. A few schools may now attempt to conceal by manufacturing marks where no or helpless records are kept up. It is notable that in numerous sheets, inward appraisal marks for undertakings and practicals are distributed generously to upgrade school results. In the current situation, where schools need to present the all out marks, and not a little extent, it will be exceptionally enticing to give out excellent grades liberally for the school’s outcomes to look great. How much these practices will sully inside marks is impossible to say. Worries of this sort have effectively been voiced regarding evaluated scores for Class X.

The test that must be beaten now is the way to make a bunch of evaluated marks with which an understudy will move on from school, and which will be utilized for admission to universities. Numerous plans are getting looked at. The thought is to utilize a mix of the imprints given in inner appraisals during the year, the signs of the last, most important tests for Class XI, and surprisingly the imprints got in Class X board tests. Numerous issues can be expected immediately, independent of which plan is at last received. With online classes being the essential method of guidance during the previous year, the split among princely and helpless schools has gotten glaring. Instructors and understudies in under-resourced schools frequently don’t have appropriate admittance to advanced stages. Interestingly, prosperous schools and understudies have no such restrictions. The entirety of this will be reflected in the inward class evaluations and pre-board tests. More unfortunate schools were constantly burdened from numerous points of view, contrasted with well-to-do ones, yet this is a one-two punch which will influence any plan.

Colleges and organizations conceding understudies utilizing Class XII imprints will currently need to make merit records dependent on these assessed scores. Shockingly, even in typical occasions, the relationship among scores and scholastic capacity has consistently been addressed; in the flow circumstance, this is considerably more sketchy for every one of the reasons referenced previously. The chance of colleges leading their own selection tests – as some Vice-Chancellors appear to be certain of doing – or giving half weight-age to the recently proposed Central University Common Entrance Test appears to be distant even as a long way ahead as October 2021. Such certainty overlooks the high likelihood of another Covid wave, advancement of new Corona virus freaks, and the low immunization rate; this will, overall, guarantee that no gathering and in-person assessment can be held in the following not many months. From that point onward, it will be past the point where it is possible to begin another scholastic meeting. The public authority should likewise take out the uneasiness related with if placement tests will be held at the soonest. At last, on the off chance that we are in fact compelled to utilize just these evaluated grades for admissions to colleges and foundations, it will be a great idea to send extra measurements at whatever point conceivable. Ordinary channels could be the assessment of mission statements, letters of suggestions, short online tasks, and even meetings. Now and again, the numbers might be overwhelming yet this might be a brilliant chance to begin accomplishing something other than what’s expected, something which nucleates a more real method of assessing understudies. The constraints that become known in doing this will likewise exhibit to strategy producers how frantic is the need to redo our instructive framework, put in more assets and recruit more instructors.

INDIFFERENCE CURVES

In microeconomics, the study deals with the different individuals and their decisions and its effect on the economy. The decisions such as the level of consumption, savings, investment are never the same. But a consumer strives to get the best deal for his commodities which give him highest satisfaction given the budget constraint. The consumer tries to attain that point in the indifference curve where he can get the most utilities from both goods.

An indifference curve or IC is the graphical representation of combinations of two goods that yield the same level of satisfaction to the consumer. The indifference curve operates on the principle of diminishing Marginal Rate of Substitution(MRS). Every point on the indifference curve shows that an individual or a consumer is indifferent between the two products as it gives him the same kind of utility.

There is also a concept of indifference map which is the graphical representation of two or more indifference curves showing the various combination of commodities with different quantities, which a consumer consumes, given his income and the market price of both the commodities.

Before going forward with IC, let’s look what is Marginal Rate of Substitution.

Marginal Rate of Substitution is the rate at which a consumer substitutes some units of one good or willing to forego units of one commodity for additional units of another good which provides the same level of utility or satisfaction. MRS measures the changes in the units of consumption of the combination of two goods but does not influence the utility.

Formula for calculating is MRSxy = MUy / MUx = Px / Py

where,

MRSxy – Marginal Rate of Substitution of good x and good y

MUy and MUx – Marginal utility of good y and good x respectively

Px and Py- Prices of good x and good y respectively

The indifference curve is convex to the origin because of the diminishing Marginal Rate of Substitution.

ASSUMPTIONS OF INDIFFERENCE CURVES

  • There are only two goods, say good x and good y. It is also assumed that the prices of the commodities are constant.
  • The consumers are rational and thus aim to have the highest utility from the pair of goods. The consumer moves to higher indifference curves for attaining maximum satisfaction.
  • The utilities are ordinal because the utility or the amount of satisfaction cannot be quantified.
  • The income of the consumer is fixed. Thus, there is a budget constraint.
  • There is Diminishing Marginal Rate of Substitution where good y is substituted for good x.

PROPERTIES OF INDIFFERENCE CURVES

  • The indifference curve is convex to the origin due to the decreasing marginal rate of substitution. It can never be concave as it violates law of diminishing marginal utility.
  • The indifference curve is slopes from left to right as one commodity substitutes another.
  • The indifference curves never touch the axes because the assumption states that each point represents different utilities of two goods. If it touches the axes, the utility of one commodity becomes zero.
  • Higher indifference curves represent higher quantities of both the goods and thus higher utility.
  • Two indifference curves never intersect each other because the two curves represent different utilities.

From the above diagram, we can infer that point c is where the consumer is in equilibrium.

Consumer equilibrium is a situation in which a consumer purchases a combination of goods which gives him maximum satisfaction given the income and prices, he is not willing to make any changes in it.

Conditions for consumer equilibrium

  1. Slope of IC = Slope of price line (budget line)
  2. MRSxy=Px / Py

In U1, points a and e cannot be equilibrium points because there are opportunities for consumer to move to U2. Points b and d cannot be equilibrium points because at both points MRSxy is not equal to Px / Py.

At point c in U3, MRSxy= Px / Py and thus the consumer is in the state of rest and attains maximum utility.

The consumer cannot move to U4 because the prices of goods exceed the budget line of the consumer.

Kindness Comes at a Cost

Naomi Shihab Nyeโ€™s poem โ€˜Kindnessโ€™ portrays the abstract feeling in a different light. We live our lives by being kind and by receiving kindness. But, is kindness all elegant, brighter and a beautiful emotion? Brighter the light is, the darker the shadow will be. In the same way, the journey to appreciate kindness is painful.

The first stanza of the poem starts by stating that unless we go through hardships, difficulties and excruciating pain, we can never feel kindness. We should feel our future melting away and dissolving like salt in a broth. We should feel every single block we had built falling apart one by one and should see things go crazy and beyond control. We should be wrecked and hopeless to feel and see kindness between the regions of dreary and forsaken landscape. When life feels needlessly long and dull, when everyone seems to be busy and no one really cares about what happens to us, the relief that rushes over by one extending hand causes kindness.ย ย

How you ride and ride

thinking the bus will never stop,

the passengers eating maize and chicken

will stare out the window forever.

To understand how valuable and serious the emotion of kindness is, we must see a man lying dead on the road. We must realise that such a death can occur to us too and we can also be abandoned like that man. We must see how the man was the same breathing living thing with plans and dreams before he could die.

You must see how this could be you,

how he too was someone

who journeyed through the night with plans

and the simple breath that kept him alive.

Just as the lines below say, we must wake up everyday heavy with sorrow and talk with it to understand what kindness really is. We should confront our sadness and separate each of its strings and weave it into a sorrowful clothing to see how big our sorrow really is.ย

Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,

you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.ย

If we do so, then we will see only kindness in every little thing and every little action. It will be kindness which ties our shoes and gives us strength to step into the outside world and do our work. Even among the ocean of bodies and faces, we will spot kindness rising its head and calling to us, โ€œIt is I you have been looking forโ€ and following us everywhere โ€œlike a shadow or a friendโ€.

Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes
and sends you out into the day to gaze at bread,

These lines make us realize how we take kindness for granted most of the time. The kindness of the mother hidden in the packed lunch box, the kindness of the friend embedded in a lent pen, the kindness of a stranger who says โ€˜Have a beautiful dayโ€™ are slept on by us. Our mother might have lost her good sleep to pack lunch, our friend might have not even had a pen to lend or the stranger would have had a really bad morning. Thus kindness comes at a cost. When it comes, learn to appreciate it and give it back.ย ย

Cottage Industries

Cottage industries have an essential role to play in the economies of all Asian countries. These are known to constitute major manufacturing activities and create employment opportunities in the rural areas and are therefore are important for developing economies.

Cottage industries are generally small-scale industries which generally observed to be unorganized and labour intensive as the goods are not mass-produced like the ones from factories. These can be started with a low amount of capital as the goods are made in the houses of the makers using conventional methods of production. One of the reasons why the goods are not mass-produced in such industries is because these are rural-based and focus to meet the local need.

The most important advantage that a country gets out of cottage industries is the ability to create jobs. It not only provides employment options to numerous families throughout the year but gives give economic independence to women in rural areas who are a part of such industry.

How do cottage industries operate?

A cottage industry can produce anything like clothing items, arts, and handicrafts, shoe-making, handmade jewellery pieces, furnishings, home dรฉcor articles, etc. These can be established by the members of a family, group, or community and are likely to produce labour-intensive goods. The production mainly includes conventional methods like using traditional tools which require the use of hands. A cottage industry paves the way for various supporting services in trading and logistics. It connects the traders to the manufacturers which lead to the growth of rural economies. Hence, the cottage industry is usually categorized as a small-scale industry since in most cases, there is no mass production of goods.

Well-known cottage industries in India

India is well-known for various kinds of cottage industries like:

  • Handloom and Power loom
  • Milk-based industryย
  • Handicraft industry
  • Stone-cutting
  • Carpet makingย
  • Cotton weaving
  • Silk weaving
  • Leatherworks
  • Metalworks

ย

What are the challenges faced by cottage industries in India?

There several problems faced by the cottage industries in India such as the unavailability of modern equipment and technology. The magnificent craftsmanship and talent are not enough for the productivity of good but there is an urgent need for technology to get involved to enhance productivity in less time.

There is limited availability of raw materials as there is continuous competition with the industrial houses. This doesnโ€™t go well when a large company moves into the neighbourhood and begins to mass-produce the same goods at lower prices.ย

There is a lack of logistics and banking services to support such small-scale industries.

Skilled and hard-working labours have started to move to cities to work for bigger industrial houses which in turn results in less productivity.

Since cottage industries are not tech-driven, they are unable to invest in advertising on e-commerce and online platforms. With the growing online shopping culture, small-scale enterprises are unable to market their goods efficiently.

Conclusionย

The cottage industry is essential for the economic development of any locality, region, or country and needs the support of modern technology and proper machinery to produce exquisite artifacts and does not remain limited to only rural areas.

World food safety day

World Food Safety Day (WFSD) celebrated on 7 June 2021 aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€˜Safe food today for a healthy tomorrowโ€™, stresses that production and consumption of safe food has immediate and long-term benefits for people, the planet and the economy. Recognizing the systemic connections between the health of people, animals, plants, the environment and the economy will help us meet the needs of the future.

Recognizing the global burden of foodborne diseases, which affect individuals of all ages, in particular children under-5 and persons living in low-income countries, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed in 2018 that every 7 June would be World Food Safety Day. In 2020, the World Health Assembly further passed a resolution to strengthen global efforts for food safety to reduce the burden of foodborne disease. WHO and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) jointly facilitate the observance of World Food Safety Day, in collaboration with Member States and other relevant organizations.

Food safety is a shared responsibility between governments, producers and consumers. Everyone has a role to play from farm to table to ensure the food we consume is safe and healthy. Through the World Food Safety Day, WHO works to mainstream food safety in the public agenda and reduce the burden of foodborne diseases globally. Food safety is everyone’s business.

Importance of Investing

In India, the working class is majorly divided in two sections.

First , are the one’s that believe in spending whatever they earn and enjoy the present at most.

The other group of people believes in saving a part of their income for the unforeseen circumstances and with a hope to fulfil future goals like buying a house, car or retirement planning.

Now the people who spend all of their earnings find themselves in a difficult spot at the time of any unforeseen circumstance and regrets not saving.

What about the group of people who save a major part of their earnings? Are they able to fulfil their goals? The answer is “NO”.

Here comes the role of inflation. Inflation is the rate at which price of commodities increases and value of money decreases. So, instead of just saving, we should start investing in order to fulfil our financial goals and be financially independent.

Saving is important but more important is that we invest because money will not grow unless we will invest more and more . Also one investing should be in different schemes as well as plans .ย

“If you do not make money while you sleep then you will have to earn till you die ” . These are the most true words said by some great expert . But it would be better if we practice the same in our daily lives .ย

Second earthquake in china

On Friday night, another strong, shallow earthquake shook an area of southwestern China near Myanmar, causing at least one death.

The two quakes were not related, Tytell said.

The US Geological Survey said that the magnitude 6.1 quake was centered 10 kilometers (6 miles) below the surface northwest of the city of Dali, a scenic area in Yunnan province.

Shallow quakes often cause more damage on the Earth’s surface, especially in populated areas.

The earthquake caused strong shaking around Dali but Chinese news reports showed relatively little damage.

The Yunnan seismological bureau said it received a report of one death and six injuries in the Dali area. It gave the magnitude of the quake as 6.4 and said it struck 8 kilometers (5 miles) below the surface.

The area experiences frequent seismic activity. In 2020, a magnitude 5 earthquake in Yunnan killed four people and injured 23, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

China’s worst earthquake in recent years struck the mountainous western portion of Sichuan province to the north of Yunnan in 2008, killing nearly 90,000 people

IRON DOME THE SHIELD OF ISRAEL

IRON DOME PROTECTING ISRAEL LIKE WAKANDA-

Iron Dome is an effective, truck-towed, multi-mission mobile air defence system developed by Rafael Advanced Defence Systems. The system has been developed to counter very short-range rockets and 155mm artillery shell threats with ranges of up to 70km. It can be operated in all weather conditions including fog, dust storm, low clouds and rain.

The all-weather air defence system protects the population and critical assets and can be strategically placed to reduce collateral damage.ย Iron Domeย detects, analyses and intercepts a range of incoming threats, including C-RAM, precise guided missiles, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and air-breathing threats.

The system has so far intercepted more than 2,500 incoming targets with a success rate of over 90%.

Selected by the Israel Defence Ministry, Iron Dome provides defence against short-range missiles and rockets which pose a threat to the civilian population of Israelโ€™s northern and southern border.

โ€œIn July 2010, the US House of Representatives approved $205m in funding to speed up the production and deployment of Iron Dome.โ€

The system was deployed by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) in March 2011.

In November 2012, Israel installed the fifth Iron Dome battery at Gush Dan in response to the rocket attacks on the Tel Aviv area. The Iron Dome air defence system is being used to intercept and shoot down hundreds of rockets from Gaza as the latest round of escalations between Israel and Palestine in May 2021 engulfed the region. The violent clashes saw Hamas launch a barrage of rockets targeting Tel Aviv in Israel in response to an alleged Israeli airstrike in Gaza. The death toll in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli airstrikes stood at more than 60 people.

I-DOME is a mobile version of the system, which can be deployed on a single truck, while C-DOME is a naval version.

Iron Dome mobile air defence system background and development details

The firing of rockets by Hezbollah during 2006โ€™s Second Lebanon War led to the development of Iron Dome. Nearly 4,000 rockets, mostly of the short-range Katyusha type, were fired on Haifa and other northern regions of Israel.

About 44 Israeli civilians were killed in the attack and approximately 250,000 citizens were evacuated and relocated to other parts of Israel.

Between 2000 and 2008, more than 4,000 mortars and 4,000 rockets (mostly Qassams) were fired from Gaza into southern Israel. As the range of the Qassam has been expanded due to the introduction of 122mm Grad launchers, nearly one million southern Israelis came within the range.

To counter the rocket threats, the Israel Defence Ministry decided in February 2007 to develop a mobile air defence system.

The missile defence system was successfully tested in March 2009. The testing was carried out without physically intercepting a missile or rocket. In July 2009, during a defence ministry test, the system successfully intercepted a number of rockets.

A new battalion was established by the IAF in August 2009 to operate the Iron Dome system. Multiple rocket bombardments mimicking Qassams and Katyushas were intercepted successfully in a test carried out in January 2010.

The final testing of the Iron Dome was undertaken in July 2010. The system successfully determined and intercepted only incoming missile threats, while other missiles which were headed toward open fields were not intercepted.

Raytheon collaborated with Rafael for the commercialisation of the Iron Dome weapon system in the US in August 2011. Raytheon secured a $149m contract from Rafael for the supply of Tamir interceptor components used in the system, in September 2014. It was formed as a new joint venture between Raytheon and Rafael in August 2020 to establish an Iron Dome production facility in the US.

NEED FOR BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION

Biodiversity is a significant element for the subsistence of life on earth. It maintains the ecological stability and assists the functioning of the ecosystem, which is necessary to provide support and regulation to the environment. Basically, Biodiversity is the variation among the living organisms, including plants, animals, fungi as well as bacteria from different sources including terrestrial, marine and desert ecosystems; it describes the richness and diversity of life on earth. The term biodiversity was coined in 1985, it includes both the natural as well as artificial ecosystems. Thus, it is of immense ecological and economic significance, biodiversity is an important feature of the planet and there will be no life without it. It provides us with necessary nourishment, fulfills our needs of housing, fuel, clothing, etc. and also help the nation to extract monetary benefits through tourist activities.

E11G - Awareness Campaign for Biodiversity - Home | Facebook

The research studies highlight that there are around 8.7 million species of plants and animals that are currently existing on the earth, however, we have been able to identify only 1.2 million species so far. It is an astonishing discovery that a number of species are found co-existing in a single ecosystem, it includes smallest creatures to the largest that can be seen through naked eyes. All these species work in a chain to ensure their survival, maintain the ecosystem and also provide certain benefits to the human begins.

However, the increasing human population and rapid rise in the consumption and other activities has disturbed and even destroyed the ecosystem. The pollution, climate changes, continuous changes in the consumption patters has threatened the ecological balance and also affected the biodiversity of the planet. It is predicted by the expert scientists and researchers that, with this pace, half of the species will go extinct with the next century and this is adversely affect the interrelation between the different creatures. Over the last years, Australis has witnessed the largest decline in the biodiversity of the continent. The worldโ€™s biodiversity is facing the threat and pressure of fragmentation and degradation, spread of invasive species, climate change, inappropriate fire regimes, etc. Therefore, it becomes necessary to conserve and preserve the biodiversity and protect the endangered species.

Biodiversity: Conservation of Biodiversity in India

The Biodiversity Conservation refers to the protection, preservation and management of the ecosystem and natural habits to ensure the health functioning. The basic aims of biodiversity conservation are to protect and preserve species diversity, to ensure the sustainable management of the species and to prevent the ecological imbalance. Given below is a list of some general steps that can be taken towards the conservation of the biodiversity and maintenance of the ecological balance:

  • Government Legislation

Government is the regulatory body of the nation and has the supreme power to control the activities that can be a threat to the biodiversity. Thus, the government should understand its responsibility and distribute its power with the other authorities to adopt measures to conserve the biodiversity. Also, the government can enforce lays and regulations to regulate the activities in a manner that is doesnโ€™t cause any harm to the environment.

For the same, several bills and action plans have been passed by the Parliament in India as well as the need for biodiversity conservation has been understood and the National Mission on Biodiversity and Human Well-Being has been set to bring the societyโ€™s attention to the biodiversity conservation. The efforts can be made in setting up the nature preserves, i.e., national parks to protect the regions and the organisms living there. It can be also economically beneficial by allowing the tourists to visit these areas and understand the ecosystems from nearby.

  • Reducing the amount of Invasive Species

Invasive species are sometimes introduced to an area on purpose, but also sometimes by accident. To limit the number of invasive species moved by accident planes, ships, and cargo must be thoroughly checked before it is offloaded in a new country. Additionally, people should not bring new species of animals or plants to an area without consulting ecologists knowledgeable on the region.

  • Habitat Restoration

The human lifestyle and their expansion activities have affected the area available for other living organisms on the earth. Thus, the improvement can be made by returning or retransformation of an area into its natural state. This means the plants and animals that have being naturally found and lived there, are provided back with their homes. This can be a great way to restore the harm done to the biodiversity and also help in reducing the further threat. These projects can be undertaking by government authorities or the local NGOs along with the assistance to the citizens.

  • Sustainability and Sustainable Development

The society should adopt the habit to consume naturally made eco-friendly products and avoid the usage of harmful chemically made products and goods. This will be beneficial for the biodiversity as well as ensure good health to the human begins. Thus, the individuals should promote the consumption of the eco-friendly products, so that it can support its production at a large scale. ย

Development and expansion are necessary; however, the present development should be planned in such a manner that it doesnโ€™t affect the future living standard, it is called sustainable development. The development done with keeping in mind the availability of sufficient resources for the future generation, is the best form of development.

Thus, it can be concluded that the need for Biodiversity Conservation is necessary and it can be done only through the collective efforts of every member of the society. It is not the sole responsibility of the government or governmental authorities and demands complete support and cooperation of the citizens of the nation.

Impact of Covid 19 on Environment

How does COVID-19 impact the environment?

COVID 19โ€™s impact on the environment has been mixed. Although the pandemic resulted in improved environmental conditions, there have been other negative effects, some of which are obvious, others less so.

In brief, the positive effects have been reduced GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, improved water quality, reduced noise pollution, improved air quality and in some cases, wildlife restoration. Negative effects have been increased medical waste, haphazard disposal of PPE, increased municipal waste and reduced recycling efforts.

Whilst the world has agreed on an international inquiry into the origins, handling and response of the virus, of which the results are likely to be years away, many have reached the conclusion that the cause of the global pandemic is the result of human activity, such as deforestation, animal trades and increased urbanisation. Whilst advances in medicine have kept many epidemics managed, many speculated that it was only a matter of time before a global pandemic of this magnitude was to occur.

COVID-19 became one of the most widespread zoonoses, which led to 1,5 million deaths in less than one yearย

COVID-19 is the latest of several recent zoonotic diseases1 in humans and demonstrates how human health and nature are closely intertwined. Interaction with nature could expose humans to a range of animal diseases. In fact, about three to four new infectious diseases occur every year, most of which originate from wild animals. Over the past 30 years, approximately 60-70% of new human diseases have been of zoonotic origin. The growth of zoonotic disease outbreaks is a sign of a breakdown in the relationship between humans and nature and is likely to worsen.

The drastically increasing amount of domestic and medical waste is one of the key negative outcomes of COVID-19. Coronavirus waste became a new form of global pollution. The adopted quarantine, isolation, and social distancing led to a corresponding increase in the amount of solid household waste (15-25%) and a significant increase in the generation of medical waste in healthcare institutions (from 10 to 20 times).

From the beginning of 2020, a huge amount of disinfectants has been applied to roads, commercial, and residential areas to exterminate the COVID-19 virus. These disinfectants can kill non-targeted beneficial species and create ecological imbalance. Much of the disinfectants and antiseptics, such as hand soap which contains a high percentage of the hormone-disrupting pesticide Triclosan (TSC – Triclosan converts to dioxin, a highly toxic compound when exposed to sunlight), is naturally finding its way into our water systems.

COVID-19โ€™s increased waste also affected waste management (WM) systems. Reduced employment / workers reduced recycling efforts which further compounded challenges in the collection and disposal of general waste. Municipal budgets were weakened as a result of increased healthcare costs and implemented social security regulations. Several governments introduced limitations to the volume of recycling activities in order to reduce the risk of virus infection.

There have been so many more direct and indirect consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, of which will be realised in the months and even years to come, but what is evident even in the short-term, is the urgency for all us all to stand up and work out how we can play a part in protecting and rehabilitating the earthโ€™s biodiversity which is currently balancing on a knife-edge.
