India’s biggest conman: Natwarlal

Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava Aka Natwarlal

You must have heard the name of Natwarlal, but do you know this name, which has become the synonym of vicious thugs, was first used for whom. The real name of that thug was Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava who was born in Siwan district of Bihar. Even Tata, Birla, Ambani were not saved from their fraud. He sold the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhavan and even the Parliament House along with its 545 sitting MPs. That too not once but many times.

He was such a thug who became a legend in his lifetime due to his exploits of thugs. A thug whose village people take pride in fact that he was born in his village. A thug whom thugs across the country considers as their ideal. The name of this thug was Natwarlal which later came to be used for every vicious thug.

Natwarlal was born in the year 1912 in the village of Bangra, which comes under Siwan district of Bihar. Before becoming a thug, he was a lawyer. Natwarlal cheated hundreds of people of crores of rupees during his lifetime and had more than 50 fake names. He was also adept at forging signatures of famous people. He had duped big industrialists whose list included the names of Tata, Birla and Ambani.

Natwarlal stole lakhs of rupees from shopkeepers by giving fake cheques and demand drafts. More than 100 cases were registered against him and the police of 8 states were behind him. He was also caught and sentenced to 113 years in jail but no jail in the country could stop Natwarlal. He managed to escape 8 times from the different jails of the country.

When he last escaped from the prison in 1966, he was 84 years old and used to walk in a wheelchair. He was brought from Kanpur jail to AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi for treatment under police supervision. Natwarlal was last seen on 24 June 1996 and after that police could never catch him.

The way Natwarlal’s life remained mysterious, his death was also mysterious. In 2009, Natwarlal’s lawyer filed an application in the court to quash more than 100 cases pending against him as he died on 25 July 2009. However Natwarlal’s brother Ganga prasad Srivastava says that Natwarlal died in 1996 and was cremated in Ranchi.

A film based on Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava’s life ‘Raja Natwarlal’ was also made in which Paresh Rawal and Emraan Hashmi worked. In 2004, Aaj Tak aired several episodes based on Natwarlal’s life in its crime show ‘Jurm’.

Why Child marraige should be banned ?

Child marraige refers to a marraige ( formal or informal ) of a child aged less than 18 to another child or an adult. In india a third of the global total girl children are married . Although child marraige is banned in india but this practice is still prevalent in many parts of the country like UP , Bihar , Maharashtra etc . It is a global issue as it is also prevalent in countries like Niger , Bangladesh , Mali , Chad , Guinea and Nepal .

Child marraige is primarily a poverty driven practice. A girl child is seen either as a burden or a ‘commodity’ which can be married off or sold for money. Often a girl loses all the future prospects of education after the marraige . Also , girls are forced to become a mother as soon as they get married in many countries. This puts them at a higher risk of STDs , teenage pregnancy , abortion and premature births. They are involved in household activities and have no chance of making a future or career.

A young boy who is put in a child marraige may not be ready to accept fatherhood. He may not be able to earn livelihood for the family.

Often in a child marraige , parenthood is inadequate and the marraige can be unstable . Most of the times there is no legal consent taken from either gender . Child marraige can leave children emotionally and physically traumatised and scarred for their life . In an age where they should study , play , make friends and discover themselves , they are involved in parenting and earning for the family. Child marraige is menace that should be completely erased from the world .

Empowering children by giving them education and spreading awareness among the masses regarding the hazards of child marraige can be done to stop this practice. Laws and practices will also help in curbing this menace. Proper incentives and opportunities should be provided to a poor family so that they do not get their children married off early . Overall , if a society works for completely eradicating this practice , then we can surely save children and teenagers from losing their youth and their future.

Do You Live with Anxiety? Here Are 11 Ways to Cope

Breathe: There are ways to calm your anxiety

Know that feeling of your heart beating faster in response to a stressful situation? Or perhaps, instead, your palms get sweaty when you’re confronted with an overwhelming task or event.

That’s anxiety — our body’s natural response to stress.

If you haven’t recognized your triggers yet, here are a few common: your first day at a new job, meeting your partner’s family, or giving a presentation in front of a lot of people. Everyone has different triggers, and identifying them is one of the most important steps to coping and managing anxiety attacks.

Identifying your triggers can take some time and self-reflection. In the meantime, there are things you can do to try to help calm or quiet your anxiety from taking over.

5 quick ways to cope with anxiety

If your anxiety is sporadic and getting in the way of your focus or tasks, there are some quick natural remedies that could help you take control of the situation.

If your anxiety is focused around a situation, such as being worried about an upcoming event, you may notice the symptoms are short-lived and usually subside after the anticipated event takes place.

Question your thought pattern

Negative thoughts can take root in your mind and distort the severity of the situation. One way is to challenge your fears, ask if they’re true, and see where you can take back control.

Practice focused, deep breathing

Try breathing in for 4 counts and breathing out for 4 counts for 5 minutes total. By evening out your breath, you’ll slow your heart rate which should help calm you down.

The 4-7-8 technique is also known to help anxiety.

Use aromatherapy

Whether they’re in oil form, incense, or a candle, scents like lavender, chamomile, and sandalwood can be very soothing.

Aromatherapy is thought to help activate certain receptors in your brain, potentially easing anxiety.

Go for a walk or do 15 minutes of yoga

Sometimes, the best way to stop anxious thoughts is to walk away from the situation. Taking some time to focus on your body and not your mind may help relieve your anxiety.

Write down your thoughts

Writing down what’s making you anxious gets it out of your head and can make it less daunting.

These relaxation tricks are particularly helpful for those who experience anxiety sporadically. They may also work well with someone who has generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) when they’re in a bind too!

However, if you suspect you have GAD, quick coping methods shouldn’t be the only kind of treatment you employ. You’ll want to find long-term strategies to help lessen the severity of symptoms and even prevent them from happening.

6 long-term strategies for coping with anxiety

If anxiety is a regular part of your life, it’s important to find treatment strategies to help you keep it in check. It might be a combination of things, like talk therapy and meditation, or it might just be a matter of cutting out or resolving your anxiety trigger.

If you’re not sure where to start, it’s always helpful to discuss options with a mental health professional who might suggest something you hadn’t thought of before.

Identify and learn to manage your triggers

You can identify triggers on your own or with a therapist. Sometimes they can be obvious, like caffeine, drinking alcohol, or smoking. Other times they can be less obvious.

Long-term problems, such as financial or work-related situations, may take some time to figure out — is it a due date, a person, or the situation? This may take some extra support, through therapy or with friends.

When you do figure out your trigger, you should try to limit your exposure if you can. If you can’t limit it — like if it’s due to a stressful work environment that you can’t currently change — using other coping techniques may help.

Some general triggers:

  • a stressful job or work environment
  • driving or traveling
  • genetics — anxiety could run in your family
  • withdrawal from drugs or certain medications
  • side effects of certain medications
  • trauma
  • phobias, such as agoraphobia (fear of crowded or open spaces) and claustrophobia (fear of small spaces)
  • some chronic illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, or asthma
  • chronic pain
  • having another mental illness such as depression
  • caffeine

Adopt cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

CBT helps people learn different ways of thinking about and reacting to anxiety-causing situations. A therapist can help you develop ways to change negative thought patterns and behaviors before they spiral.

Do a daily or routine meditation

While this takes some practice to do successfully, mindful meditation, when done regularly, can eventually help you train your brain to dismiss anxious thoughts when they arise.

If sitting still and concentrating is difficult, try starting with yoga.

Try supplements or change your diet

Changing your diet or taking supplements is definitely a long-term strategy. Research shows certain supplements or nutrients can help anxiety reduction.

These include:

  • lemon balm
  • omega-3 fatty acids
  • ashwagandha
  • green tea
  • valerian root
  • kava kava
  • dark chocolate (in moderation)

However, it can take up to three months before your body is actually running on the nutrition these herbs and foods provide. If you’re taking other medications, make sure to discuss herbal remedies with your doctor.

Keep your body and mind healthy

Exercising regularly, eating balanced meals, getting enough sleep, and staying connected to people who care about you are great ways to stave off anxiety symptoms.

Ask your doctor about medications

If your anxiety is severe enough that your mental health practitioner believes you’d benefit from medication, there are a number of directions to go, depending on your symptoms. Discuss your concerns with your doctor.

When is my anxiety harmful?

Identifying what sort of anxiety you’re dealing with can be somewhat challenging because how one’s body reacts to perceived danger can be entirely different compared to another person.

It’s likely you heard anxiety as a blanket term for that general feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease. It’s often a feeling grown in response to an upcoming event that has an uncertain outcome.

Every person deals with it at one time or another, because it’s part of our brain’s response to a perceived danger — even if that danger isn’t real.

That said, there are times anxiety can get serious and turn into anxiety attacks that initially feel manageable and then gradually build up over a few hours. (This is different from a panic attack, which is out of the blue and subsides.)

Signs of an anxiety attack

These are some of the more common mental and physical symptoms of anxiety:

  • feelings of danger, panic, or dread
  • nervousness or restlessness
  • rapid heart rate
  • sweating
  • trembling or chills
  • tiredness or weakness
  • gastrointestinal problems
  • difficulty focusing
  • hyperventilation

It’s also possible to experience an anxiety and panic attack simultaneously. The quick coping strategies mentioned above may also help with a panic attack.

Other mindful strategies to cope with panic attacks include focusing on an object, repeating a mantra, closing your eyes, and going to your happy place.

Symptoms of a panic attack

  • fear of dying
  • feeling like you’re losing control
  • a sense of detachment
  • heart palpitations
  • shortness of breath
  • chest pains or tightness
  • nausea
  • feeling lightheaded or dizzy
  • numbness or tingling in your extremities
  • feeling hot or cold

What causes anxiety?

If you notice that quick tips haven’t been working, you may want to consider seeing a professional for help. Especially if you believe you have GAD and its interfering with routine activities and causing physical symptoms.

A mental health professional can help with streamlining the process of identifying your triggers, maintaining long-term strategies through behavioral therapy, medications, and more.

For example, if your anxiety stems from a trauma you experienced in your past, it can be helpful to work through that with a licensed therapist. On the other hand, if you’re brain chemistry predisposes you to chronic anxiety, you may need to go on medication to manage it.

Anxiety may always be a part of your life, but it shouldn’t overtake your day-to-day. Even the most extreme anxiety disorders can be treated so that the symptoms aren’t overwhelming.

Once you find what treatment works best for you, life should be a lot more enjoyable and a lot less daunting

IMPORTANCE

Why do we need trees ?Its easy we need trees for several reason – it gives us oxygen , stores carbon , stabilizes soil and protects from soil erosion .Trees hold an important value in our lives . They surround our houses and provides us shade . They increase the quality of our life . If a region doesn’t have sufficient amount of trees , that area doesn’t have enough rain . It causes the land to turn into a barren land . So the land losses its fertility with time. As stated by US department of agriculture “One acre of forests absorbs six tons of carbon di oxide and gives out four tons of oxygen .Trees control climate , they provide warmth and act as an shield during rain .

SUPPLIER

Oxygen is the key factor which makes it possible for humans to survive on earth following by water and food. We humans take everything for granted . If we have anything in large amount we waste it , even if we don’t have it still we waste it .21% of air in our environment is oxygen 78% nitrogen and rest are other gases .

DEFORESTATION

Cutting down trees in a large amount and decreasing the forest area is known as Deforestation .What are the causes of deforestation ?

  • Increasing population – As the population is growing , demand for houses are increasing and forests are decreasing
  • Increase of agricultural land .
  • Construction – As number of buildings and factories are increasing , forest land is decreasing

HELP

We need help of everyone to make sure that our earth remains green and healthy . Campaign for protection of trees should be started . If not us than who . Because we are the youth of our nation and we are its last hope .

DOWRY!!

Is the dowry System still a part of India? Yes, although it is banned by the government but still in some places these practices are still going on. Dowry is a transfer of valuable property or a thing which is given to a bride by the groom or to a groom by a bride, or by the parents of bride and groom to each other. In India, the dowry system is transferring durable goods like cash, movable property, goods, jewelry, furniture, electrical appliances, along with the bride from the bride’s family to the groom’s family as a condition of marriage, to the newlyweds which help in setting up their household.  Dowry is also called Dajeh.

The Dowry system can make major differences in a family in means of financial issues or a burden to the family. In some cases dowry system leads to crime against women like, emotional abuse, injury and can also lead to death in some cases. Dowry has been banned in India under a specific law, the Dowry Prohibition Act of 1961, sections 304B and 498A. Article 3 of the prohibition act of 1961 says that giving or taking presents at the time of marriage to the groom or bride without any demand doesn’t have to pay a penalty for it. In some places, dowries are still demanded and marriages are still finalized based on dowry. If the dowries aren’t fulfilled according to the groom’s side of the family, they end up sending the bride to her place or torturing the bride and her family.

This dowry culture is so popular in some parts of India, but not only in rural areas. Even the educated families living in high-class societies and metropolitan cities are also part of these unethical practices and harassing women for not giving proper money and gold. In 2020, 17 cases of abuse and harassment of women for dowry and was mentioned in The New Indian Express.
In India, this system is still in go because of the patriarchal society and thinking, the values of men are high than women. In this society, boys are seen with the higher card, this is dependent on how much price the bride’s family is paying upon a marriage. Another reason for this system is deeply rooted in the Indian culture, but this mindset is unchangeable as this is normal. Even today people have been reminded about this system, though they ignore it and some of the families do practice it willingly or unwillingly in the fear of judgements and being criticized for not following the customs. It is known that women’s marriage is a big and important event. But if the marriage requires this kind of thing to secure her’s life after marriage or marriage is very unethical and abrupt. This is the major discrimination women are facing but it is never seen as a crime even though it is banned by the government.

The imprisonment of breaking the anti-dowry is 5 years and a fine up to Rs.15000 on the value of dowry given. Although Indian laws have been made against the dowries which are intact. But are ineffective in many states and cities in India, but deaths and murders continue to happen and the government isn’t taking a big step regarding it. This should be focused on the news so that a women can stay without any discrimination
and with safety.

HOW TO GET STARTED AND TEACH YOURSELF A NEW LANGUAGE

Learning something new can be a daunting task, but it is rewarding and adventurous at the same time. Learning a new language is the same way, it’s challenging but fun.

Major languages of the world

STEP 1 : FIND YOUR REASON

Before you decide to learn a new language find out why you want and what language you want to learn first.

There could be diverse reasons such as,

Want to put a rush on this “leaning a new language” trend?

Or, so you can take new job responsibilities abroad.

Or, so you can read your favourite novel in the language it’s written in?

Or, so you can understand the country and culture better.

Or, Maybe for the upcoming trip.

So, there can be many reasons for you to learn a language but it’s important to have one. It helps you to remain motivated and focus on learning the language.

STEP 2 : SET GOALS – REALISTIC ONES

Setting goals can take us a long way. We can set long term, short term and daily goals. Keeping the goals realistic is very important because achievable goals motivate you to keep going but if it is too difficult it can actually discourage us. For example, “I will learn how to introduce myself today.” is a good example of setting daily target. Write down your goals, unconsciously it tells our brain that it is important.

Set your goals

STEP 3 : LEARN THE BASICS

Learn a few greeting words in the language before you learn the alphabet. This helps you develop initial understanding of the language. Also, this way when you learn the alphabets you are already familiar with some basic words. For example: Hello, Goodbye, Thank you, Good night, My name is ______? What is your name? etc.

STEP 4 : NEXT IS ALPHABET AND VOCABULARY

Learn the alphabet of the language it will help you to understand the language structure better. It will make it significantly easier for you to learn the language and you will be able to read and pronounce words, which will help you memorize better . Plus, it is better to be sounding the words out rather than looking at the romanization of the words.

Alphabets and their writing styles

STEP 5 : STUDY EVERYDAY

People often claim to have studied a language “for years” and still not be fluent. But when they say years, they probably mean that they studied the language for only a couple of hours a week over that entire time period.

Language learning is based on repetition – revise it until you can’t forget it. Hammering something into your brain over and over again until you remember it. If you break too long between study sessions, you are much more prone to forget what you learned last time and you will waste valuable study time going back over what you’ve already learned.

CONCLUSION

So learning a new language can be tough and daunting but remember it is just a language and if you put in hard work and smart work you can learn any learn any language you wish to learn. Happy learning!!

Think and Grow Rich by Napolen Hill

Napoleon Hill, a young special investigator for a well-known business journal at the time, was dispatched to meet with Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie quietly hinted to a master power he utilized during the interview—a magical law of the human mind, a little-known psychological principle—that was amazing in its strength. Carnegie proposed to Hill that he base his concept of all personal achievement on that idea, whether measured in terms of money, power, position, status, influence, or wealth growth. That portion of the interview was never published in Hill’s magazine, but it did set the young author on a twenty-year research quest.

Napoleon Hill was a New Thought development writer who was one of the first makers of the current classification of individual achievement writing and is broadly viewed as one of the extraordinary essayists on progress. Slope’s works centered around the significance of individual thoughts in accomplishing individual accomplishment. From 1933 until 1936, he filled in as a counselor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Lessions

“Think And Grow Rich,” written in 1937 following a 25-year study of some of the world’s wealthiest people, is one of the most widely recognized personal development classics (more than one hundred million copies sold worldwide, according to recent estimates). The philosophy of the book is based on the belief that success may be achieved via mental vision and imagination in any effort. To put it another way, you can become everything your mind believes is possible; as a result, your mind becomes the only thing that can either stop or propel you toward becoming your best self. The most important lessons from the book are outlined and discussed here.

Thoughts are really powerful.Hill argues in the opening paragraph that thinking, rather than money, education, or specialized understanding about something, is more conducive to success. The man who “believes” he can do anything has already taken a step toward the finish line. However, thinking may be an overly broad phrase. As a result, Hill defines thinking as a combination of initiative, faith, resolve to win, and resilience.

Desire. How much do you desire it?

Of course, we each have our own set of objectives and dreams, but have you ever asked yourself this question? It may appear unnecessary at first, but it is only when we truly desire something that we will go to any length to obtain it. As a result, desire is the one stage that connects thoughts and actions in a hypotethic scheme.

Faith is the visualization of and belief in achieving one’s desires.

You can build the emotion of trust, which is required for transmuting your aspirations into physical or monetary equivalents, by using affirmations or repeated reminders to the subconscious.

AUTO-SUGGESTION The Subconscious Mind’s Influence Medium

In an attitude of unwavering faith, the principle of auto-suggestion conveys our desires straight to the subconscious mind.We can regain complete control over the material that reaches our subconscious mind by repeating our conscious thoughts and desires (as mentioned in the “Faith” section above) to ourselves on a regular basis. This allows us to exercise control over our decisions, feelings, and actions.

Personal Experiences or Observations: Specialized Knowledge

General knowledge, such as that taught in schools, and specialized knowledge, on their own, will not help you accumulate wealth. Rather, once you’ve acquired knowledge, you’ll need to learn how to arrange and apply it. If you lack the particular knowledge needed to grow your business or achieve your objectives, you can form a “Master Mind” group to enhance your own knowledge with that of others.

The Mind’s Workshop: Imagination

The imagination is humanity’s one-of-a-kind ability to mold, create, and act on desire. Hill distinguishes two modes of imagination: the synthetic imagination, which does not create but rather arranges old concepts, ideas, or plans into new combinations; and the creative imagination, which picks up thought vibrations from other humans and the ether, connects with Infinite Intelligence, and develops new ideas when stimulated by strong desire.

The Crystallization of Desire into Action through Organized Planning.

You must create a specific, practical plan and put it into action in order to translate desire into its physical or monetary counterpart. This chapter explains how to create plans and make sure they’re working for you.

The Mastery of Procrastination is a decision.

Failure is frequently caused by procrastination and indecisiveness. Wealthy men and women, on the other hand, have the ability to make firm decisions rapidly and then alter their views slowly. This chapter teaches you how to avoid being swayed by others’ opinions and instead rely on your own (and your Master Mind group’s) judgment to make solid, productive decisions that will secure your success.

Persistence: The Consistent Effort Required to Inspire Faith

At the first indication of disagreement, the majority of individuals will give up. Willpower mixed with desire, on the other hand, is required to achieve one’s goals. Hill outlines four methods for building the habit of perseverance, which serves as a form of failure insurance.

The Master Mind’s Power: The Motivating Force

Individuals can gain and use power by forming a Master Mind group, which is an alliance of people with varied abilities and views who pool their knowledge and efforts to achieve a specific goal. Master Mind groups provide both financial (wealth) and psychological benefits.

The Link Between the Subconscious and the Conscious Mind

The subconscious mind, according to Hill, serves as an intermediate between man’s finite intellect and Infinite Intelligence, allowing individuals to tap into the Universal Mind’s forces. He underlines that it is the only means of converting mental impulses into spiritual and bodily forms.

Thought Broadcasting and Receiving Station: The Brain.

“Every human brain is capable of picking up vibrations of thought which are being released by other brains through the medium of the ether, in a manner similar to that utilised by the radio broadcasting principle,” Hill says. In this chapter, he discusses how external vibrations influence the mind and provides a strategy for increasing the mind’s sensitivity to these sensory impulses by employing emotions.

The Temple of Wisdom’s Door: The Sixth Sense

The Sixth Sense is a subconscious capacity, also known as Creative Imagination, by which humans receive communications from Infinite Intelligence without exerting any effort on their own.

How to Outsmart the Six Fearful Ghosts

To put these thirteen success principles into action, you must first prepare your mind to accept the idea. The first stage in priming your mind is to research, evaluate, and comprehend the three foes you’ll be fighting: hesitation, uncertainty, and fear. This chapter outlines and explains how to overcome the six basic fears that hold people back in their pursuit of wealth, despite the fact that they are often hidden in the subconscious: the fear of poverty, the fear of criticism, the fear of ill health, the fear of losing love, the fear of old age, and the fear of death.

Impact of corona virus on global economy

COVID19 impact on India to be more than $40.9 billion in first ...

The first ever coronavirus case was traced in the month of november in china. Nobody then knew that this virus would cause so much havoc in the world and it will force the countries with largest economy to impose lockdown . The virus has affected almost 200 countries and territories and almost 16 million people got infected with this virus among which 644k people died . The virus has not only affected the life of people directly but has also caused indirect effects on the life of people.

countries like India, Uk , China , France , Italy, New Zealand and Poland have imposed world’s largest and most strictest mass lockdown for the safety of their people. Lockdown no doubt has played a great role in saving the lives of people but it is not considered as an ideal solution as it has also indirectly affected the lives of people by worsening the economic condition of their countries.

Countries are now facing the worst economic slowdown ever which has resulted in job loss. The service sector and the business sector has been badly affected due to the lockdown as the companies are unable to perform their business activities due to which they fail to reach their target. Companies are now forced to drop employees and workers to manage their financial position. This pandemic has forced some major companies as well to downsize their work forces. Companies such marriott international, Air Canada, Scandinavian airlines, Ola , Zomato and many more are forced to layoff their staffs. This situation has boosted the unemployment rate.

Ross Community Action and Chillicothe-Ross Community Foundation ...

Tourism industry of many countries were also affected. Some countries depended upon their tourism revenues but due to the lockdown tourists are unable to visit which has declined the revenues generated from this particular sector. Also due to consumption slowdown many sectors such exports and import business are also affected. But unfortunately this a common stuff which keeps most of the countries connected and helps them in improving their economy and many people who are involved in this type of business are badly affected.

Coronavirus has hit various business sectors badly but this deadly virus has proved to be beneficial for certain industries and sectors such as pharmaceutical industries and hygiene product manufacturers. Though countries are trying hard to revive their economies but some researchers claim that it will take few years to get back the economy to the right track.

COVAXIN phase-1 trails completed

Coronavirus, Covid-19 Vaccine COVAXIN Latest Update: Rohtak PGIMS ...

Till now corona virus has affected more that 200 countries and has infected more than 16 million people. Due to the complications developed by this virus around 644k people have lost their lives. It not only causes fever and cold but also develops critical infections in the body which affects the lungs and makes breathing a difficult choice. So far many scientists are working on this virus and are trying hard to understand them. But in order to save the lives of people, many countries were forced to impose lockdown since there is no other option left to reduce the fatality rate.

Also many researchers have developed few medicines such as remdesiver to cure mild and moderate corona symptoms but they are still unable to treat the critical patients and sometimes such medicines also don’t work for mild symptoms as well. So basically there is no proper and fixed treatment for this virus. The only thing which can be game changer is a vaccine which yet to be developed.

Many countries including India is already in the race of producing a valid vaccine which can generate antibodies against the virus. India’s first indigenous covid-19 vaccine known as COVAXIN was developed by bharat biotech in collaboration with ICMR ( Indian council of medical research ) and NIV ( national institute of virology ). The vaccine initially got a nod from DCGI ( Drug controller general of India ) to perform phase I and II human clinical trails. Also the phase I trail started in the early month of july and successfully completed the first part of phase -I trail.

The first part of phase – I trail of COVAXIN was completed on saturday at the PG institute of medical sciences, Rohtak. And fortunately all the results were found to be encouraging which gave COVAXIN a positive nod to go froward for it’s 2nd part of phase – I trail.

The pros and cons of e-learning

Opinion: How to succeed in teaching online | The Educator K/12

Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the rise E-learning. This situation led schools and colleges to go for Online classes which is accepted by some set of students where as it got difficult for the rest of the students to le

It’s been four months to the lockdown and since then schools and colleges remained closed. But in order to cope up with the curriculum syllabus educational institutions had no other option left other than having online classes. But as they something is better than nothing, It is absolutely a great step to keep the students in touch with their subjects. Though students couldn’t attend their schools and college but this pandemic didn’t stop them from learning and this was only possible by going online.

E-learning has been proved to be great because it is easily accessible as it can be accessed from any corner of the world. So doesn’t matter from which place a student belongs to he/she can access the education through e-learning. And also incase any student who lacked confidence in physical class rooms can feel confident through e-learning because there will be no people around him/her to break their confidence. They can also save the videos or lectures given by their teachers which can later be used to revise it. Also students can gain knowledge while travelling so basically they need not worry about the environment around them as e-learning can be done by any means from any corner.

Since almost every student is now making use of e-learning to cover up their courses and to learn new things some students fail to learn in this pandemic because of e-learning. There are many students who do not have proper access to internet which is why they are unable to access e-learning. E-learning does not give the scope to the students to connect well with their teachers which affects the overall development of the students. Also e-learning can harm the health of the students as it can affect their eye sights and can also affect their mental health to some extent as looking into screens for too long will increase their irritation.

So these are some advantages and disadvantages of e-learning but since we don’t have any other option e-learning will still be the best option till schools and college reopen.

Should celebrities be allowed to join politics

India is a democratic country so any individual of the country has the right to join the politics . Joining politics in India doesn’t even require a minimum level of education, any person from any background has the right to join the politics in our country. We have seen some really great politicians with good educational background where as some politicians who have never been to school and also some politicians who earlier belonged to entertainment industry.

Almost everyone have their favourite celebrity whom they consider as their idol and love them for their talent and always support them in their work. But how many of we really support our favourite celebrity when they join politics ? I agree some of us support them because of the craze we have for them and some of us don’t support them because we feel that their job is to entertain people but not to rule as a leader.

Most of the people believe that celebrities should not be allowed to join politics because they belong from an entertainment background and they don’t have enough knowledge about politics . some celebrities join politics to become more popular or to acquire more fan followings. Since they already have a mass following it becomes very easy for them to influence people and they often misutilise their power to manipulate decisions. Many parties intentionally appoint celebrities to run campaign because they know their followers can get them a lot of votes. many believe since they don’t have real knowledge on how to run a country or how to handle political or economical crises they shouldn’t be allowed to join politics.

where as some believe like any other citizen, celebrities too have the right to join politics. Their influential image can be used to deal some real issues of our country such as child marriage, child labour, poverty and many more. Celebrities can use their power to make some good decisions for any good cause. Their voice can make fast changes than any other normal politician since they are already known by the people. Their popularity can be used to bring changes.

well no matter who ever becomes a politician but there should be some basic criteria to become one, like minimum educational qualification. Even if they are celebrities they should have enough knowledge about politics and then they should be allowed to join it.

Is India ready to go 100% cashless ?

Is India ready to go cashless?

It’s been years where India is trying to make it’s economy go cashless. It has taken some major initiatives to promote cashless transaction such as demonetization, BHIM, direct benefit transfers, UPI and many more. By now many people are into online payments since they find it very easy but do you really think that India is ready for a 100% cashless economy ? and if yes then why are the disadvantages of cashless transaction still valid ?

cashless payments through various digital payment apps has made our life easy. Such medium is especially used the youngsters and is not so popular among the old people. Middle aged people still any how get to know the use of such apps but the old people of our country are not yet ready for a cashless economy. The idea behind this concept is to reduce corruption and money laundering cases but how far is our country prepared for it ? I know it’s easy to use various online platforms because i am young and i am acquainted with such stuffs but the older generation finds it difficult to use and understand it which proves cashless economy a major advantage for the older generation as well as for the illiterate people who have no knowledge about online transactions. The major disadvantage for such people is they can easily become the victim of online fraud since they have less idea about the system. So the disadvantage of online transaction is that certain information can be easily exposed and can be misutilised by fraudsters.

Also cashless transactions require good internet connectivity which is something that cannot be accessed by every person from every corner of the country. Technology problem is one such problem which might prevent India from going 100% cashless.

But we can’t deny the fact that using online payment modes will save a lot of time as it just requires one click to perform any transaction. Now we don’t require to go to bank and stand in long queue to get our transactions done. But still there is a lot of time for India to have a 100% cashless economy and India is not yet ready for it.

Climate change the greatest threat

Drought and Climate Change | Union of Concerned Scientists

Every other year we face various challenges due to climatic change. The human community is not the only living thing who are facing the problem rather, each and every living organism in the planet is affected due to the climate change. Some scientists have claimed that climate change was first noticed in 19th century when natural green house effect was first identified. Thomas edison was the one who initially voiced concern for climate change and spread awareness for renewable energy. Since that day many people and organisation came forward to promote renewable energy and various steps to reduce the rate at which the climate is changing.

The biggest threat of climate change is global warming. climate change leads to global warming and everybody knows about it but how does it actually affect our planet ? Well the global warming increases the average temperature of the earth due to which the glacier sheets melt and end up increasing the sea level which can submerge majority of the land and it will not only affect the human habitation but also affect the animals life as some animals do not have the capability to handle high temperature.

It can affect the economy as well, as the change in climate might result in droughts and can affect the cultivation of crops which will affect almost every human from every background. Due to climate change many natural resources are also depleting due to which the price of such resources are touching skies and it might become almost impossible for any normal human to afford it. Also pollution is another reason which is affecting the health, not only of humans but also of animals and plants. And who do you think is responsible for this ? obviously we humans are behind this destruction and only we have the power to stop this. Governments can only talk about the possible solutions and it’s implementations but it lies in our hand whether we are implementing right steps to reduce climate change or not. Atleast we are able to raise our voice against it but think about the poor animals who are suffering because of our deeds and can’t even fight for their rights to live in a healthy environment. So next time when you throw a plastic search for a dustbin first. I know such acts won’t have an immediate impact on environment but it really does have long term positive impact on environment.

It is an indian e-commerce payment system and financial technology company which was founded on august 2010, by vijay shekhar sharma. This online platform actually got popular for it’s online recharge and bill payment services. It was among the first online recharge service provider due to which it had an advantage of having a wider reach of audience. Also since that was the time when people started using smart phones it became a bonus point for Paytm to grow in the market. Paytm focused more on customer retention by giving them cash backs and various discount coupons in their own digital wallet known as paytm wallet. I hope you all remember buying a softdrink like coca cola and find a cash back coupon code of paytm. Chinese apps banned in India

Government Bans 47 More Chinese Apps

India banned Fifty nine chinese apps including the top social media platform such as Tik Tok, We chat and Helo citing threat to the national security and the privacy of indian citizens under the section of 69a of IT act, 2020. This action was taken after the clashes in Galwan valley . Some experts say this action was to taken by India to retaliate, as 20 indian soldiers were killed by the chinese soldiers. Major media outlets have always repeatedly reported chinese military incursions into indian territory which has always been a threat to India. But this time India has taken a major decision to affect china by banning their apps.

The government earlier issued an explanation that these apps of china are illegally exporting information of indian citizens to the locations outside India, so basically these apps are a major threat towards the privacy of every indian citizen. Though the government has given a chance to these app to prove that they are not a threat to this country. But how will this move affect India ? Well the answer to this that it can have both positive and negative impact.

It did affect many people of our country who were earning with help of such apps. One such example is Tik Tok, many influencers and artists were a part of this app and were able to earn good enough by using it. Also many comapnies used Tik Tok as a platform to promote their products since this app was well popular among the indians. But this can be a very good scope for indian developers and indian start ups who at this point of time can build similar apps to fulfill the needs of indians and to replace the popularity of chinese apps. This move will definitely promote the make in India concept and would surely make people realize the worth of indian products. This has definitely affected certain communities but nothing is more important than the security and privacy of indians. Apart from india, some other countries including USA are planning to do the same. So this time India did not go for a surgical strike rather it went for a digital strike on china.

Are coaching centers destroying the education of school kids ?

No Borders For India's Young, Hungry Engineers | KUOW News and ...

I am sure most of us have been to coaching centers during our school days and also some of us joined such centers during our college days as well and such educational institutions became a mere part of our life. People blindly believe in this so called concept of coaching centers. They believe that coaching centers provide way more better education than schools and parents also want their children to focus more on their coaching centers than their schools.

But you must be thinking that when did coaching centers became this important ? Well only then when they started advertising their centers by making various promises regarding the student’s development. Parents also for the sake of their child’s improvement believed in such publicity. In order to make their child an ideal student parents invest a lot of money in coaching institutions. I don’t blame every coaching center for implementing such strategies to gather more students, there are certain well reputed coaching centers as well who actually focus on the child’s development but i also accept the fact that most of the coaching centers are in the motive of profit making and do not bother about the student’s education.

I agree some schools do not provide quality education due to which the students have to go to the coaching centers and it is absolutely okay to do so, but my question is, is it right for a 4 year child to invest his childhood in coaching centers ? as in today’s date going to coaching centers has become a trend , parents now have started forcing their little kids to go to a coaching center in order to stay ahead in school. Don’t you think schools are just enough for children with tender age ?

Coaching centers have forced students to depend on someone else to learn something new, students have now lost the capability to study or learn on their own. They fail to understand new subjects without the help of their coaching centers, they are now completely depend on their coaching centers for their education. Students now don’t believe in self study, and that’s the problem because self study is something which makes a student understand a topic but not just learn or by heart it.

RED OLEANDERS

•Rakta Karabi first appeared in Prabasi– a Bengali magazine- in 1924 and in the same year the poet himself translated the play titled Red Oleanders and was published in the Visvabharati Quarterly.

•Red Oleanders was regarded a disaster by the Western critics.

MAIN IDEAS

•The play is the most mobilizing instrument for counter attack on post colonial society, and the by-product of the modern materialistic system.

•The play not only foresees ecological imbalance but also points out some aspects of urban industrial environment.

•The play not only foresees ecological imbalance but also points out some aspects of urban industrial environment.

•The transformation of the King which is the central theme of the drama symbolizes by action-reaction relationship between Nandini and the King.

• The King ultimately emerges as a symbol of human creativity turned perverse.

• He has all the power that human civilization has generated but this power has turned dead and perverse.

•The first three scenes could be taken as exposition scenes, which establish the situation, the level of action and the dramatic mode of the play. •Red Oleanders is described as a ‘a drama in one act’- , a form of play with certain distinctive features like one situation, one theme, a few characters.

IMAGERIES

•Imagery is the use of pictures or words to create images, especially to create an impression on mood.

•The wall symbolizes the distances that are built between the rich and the poor of the society.

•The king is the symbol for absolute greed and dominant. The network of walls between the king and Nandini are the social distances between common folk and nobility, which does not hold any importance other than material possession.

•Yaksha town symbolizes an exploited ecosystem and illusory choice.

CONCLUSION

•Portrays a reality of the modern world.

• The king is an example of the revolution of industries and modern day advancement.

•The king keeps building and expanding his rein with modern advancement and buildings without any thought for nature and the people affected.

•This can be referred to the modern world Clearly as to how industries and government destroy nature without any notice.

•Nandini’s fight portrays women power and how affective it can be.

•Nandini stands and fights one target at a time, this also give us a message that you should always start with a goal in order to achieve a dream.

•This story about “Red Oleanders” portrays the way the world is going and how it works.

•Red Oleanders also carry similarity and bring together to a very well known work of literature in the Indian culture Mahabharata.

•The most evident similarities start with the resemblance that Nandini bears with Draupadi, the lead female character of the Mahabharata.

Malayalam Literature and it’s Origin

Malayalam is one of the Dravidian languages. It originated as a split from Tamil and by 9th century AD it became an independent language. It is the major language of Kerala and Lakshadweep. Literary texts written in Malayalam language comes under Malayalam literature.

Malayalam poetry starts from the 12th century and it has a history of nearly eight hundred years. Rama Charitham was the earliest poetic work in Malayalam (12th century AD). It was written in a near Tamil language or in Malayalam which was under the influence of Tamil and in a lyrical meter named ‘Pattu’. The ‘Manipravalam’ poetry (combination of native tongue and Sanskrit) also flourished in this period. Manipravalam style gained more currency and Malayalam showed a tendency to stay more closer with Sanskrit. A wave of folk songs appeared with Manipravalam movement. These songs reflected the life of peasants, laborer’s etc. These songs gained power and started adopting mythological stories. Cherusseri’s Krishnagadha is an example. It is the story of Lord Krishna taken from Bhagavatha and composed in a song meter called Manjari. After Krishnagadha Sanskrit domination regained it’s power over Malayalam through ‘Champus'(works of deep Sanskrit scholars). The Manipravalam poets got encouragement from royal courts and they write to praise their benefactors. So we can’t find contemporary issues in those works and they believed in “Poetry for poetry’s sake”.

The modern period was heralded by Tunchath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan. He is credited with ushering in the modern Malayalam period by fusing Pattu and Manipravalam in to a single language pattern of the Modern Malayalam. He acted as a poet and a philosopher and initiated Bhakthy movement and Modern Malayalam Movement. He introduced a new lyrical meter Kilipattu -the bird’s song- and it helps fascinating common people. He was best known for his Ramayana and Mahabharata. After Ezhuthachan the period focused on Kathakali- a combination of dance, music and literature. But it shows a world far from contemporary issues and it flourished under the shade of royal families. Kunchan Nambiar- the famous critic of that period adapted ‘thullal’ form in his poems. He indirectly criticised the evil things of society through his writing by using mythological contexts and characters. Kerala Varma, A R Rajaraja Varma were also the notable poets of that period.

Kumaran Assan, Ullur S Parameshwara Iyyer and Vallathol Narayana Menon formed a trio in the Romantic Age. Some of the main characteristics of Romantic literature include a focus on the writer or narrator’s emotions and inner world; celebration of nature, beauty, and imagination; rejection of industrialization, organized religion, rationalism, and social convention; idealization of women, children, and rural life; inclusion of supernatural or mythological elements; interest in the past; frequent use of personification. There may be variations on these characteristics. They supported personal freedom much. The waves of French Revolution influenced Malayalam literature too.

Operation Thunderbolt : The Time When MOSSAD showed the World their power…

Entebbe Airport at Uganda witnessed Operation Thunderbolt

Every Indian will remember the surgical strike our ARMY did on the terrorists hiding in Pakistan in 2016, we supported that move as it was a retaliation to the URI terrorist attack where they killed our soldiers in their sleep. What a coward move! But did you know, Israel did the same thing but on a bigger level way before it was cool.

On 27th June, 1976, the Air France Airbus A300 jet airliner took off from the Tel Aviv airport, Israel with over 240 passengers and crew members to reach their destination Paris. The flight made a stopover at the Athens airport, Greece, in order to refuel their aircraft.

Israeli Intelligence Agency

The flight was now supposed to move to Paris but till now it was Hijacked by Wilfred Böse and his helper female comrade, they had teamed up with two members of a breakaway faction of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. After hijacking the flight, they changed it’s route and landed to Benghazi airport, Libya.

But at that time Libya was used to provide crude oil to many countries so, due to international pressure they would not be able to provide any assistance to the hijackers. Also, Israel was close to Libya so there was threat on the hijackers to get attacked by Israeli army and might end up losing in their mission.

So, they compelled the pilots to take off from Benghazi and make their way to Entebbe Airport at Uganda. At that time Uganda was under the rule of dictator, Idi Amin. He was known for his cruelty, people were used to call him “Butcher Of Uganda” for his brutality, and it is believed that some 300,000 people were killed and countless others tortured during his presidency.

Ugandan Dictator : Idi Amin

The hijackers reached the Entebbe Airport without any harm. After landing there, they kept all the hostages into the Old Terminal of the airport, which was 2 Km away from the runway. There they separated Jewish hostages from others. But then the hijackers committed a mistake, they released the hostages which belonged to other countries or non-Jewish.

MOSSAD contacted them and recovered every piece of information which proved to be deadly against the commandeers. on 3rd July afternoon a force of more than 200 Israeli soldiers took off, bound for Entebbe. They took 5 Hercules aircrafts with them out of which 3 were filled with commandos 4th one was empty to carry the freed hostages with them and last aircraft contained signal jammers, communication system to make sure all teams stay connected and medical staff to ensure the safety of every person on-board.

It was the touchdown time at the Entebbe Airport at 1am midnight, the soldiers got off the famous Idi Amin black Mercedes in which he was used to travel. But few months ago he changed it to white. And the Ugandan soldiers spotted the difference and started firing at the planes. At this time the Israeli commandos burst out at the Ugandan army like death.

Israeli Commandos

There is an old proverb ” Fortune favours the brave”, the same happened in this case, Israeli commandos fought with complete bravery and managed to release all the hostages without any casualty of any hostage. But they suffered a crucial person of the operation, Yonatan Netanyahu, the leader of the Operation Thunderbolt. During the return from Uganda, Netanyahu was making sure that every person gets on-board safely, but at the same time he was shot by a Ugandan soldier at the back and due to heavy blood loss, Israel lost their brave soldier in mid-flight.

Yonatan Netanyahu(with bouquet)

When Idi Amin got to know that this much happened behind his back. Dora Bloch(Israeli-American) was unknowingly left behind because due to bad medical condition she has to be hospitalised immediately. Idi Amin to rage with anger, dragged her out of the hospital and shot her dead in front of whole crowd.

These were two heavy losses which Israel faced in this fearless operation and made the world realise that if any country tries to fight them, they would have to think twice before making a move.

After this tedious and tiresome operation, when the soldiers finally returned to their motherland, they were warmly welcomed by the people of Israel and their family members.

STAYING MOTIVATED WHILE STUDYING

Some people say that the hardest step in studying is to get started. Once you have taken the first step, the rest is easy, they suggest.

Other people, however, find it difficult to stay motivated when studying, especially when the end seems a long way away.

A Strategy for You👉

There is no single strategy that will work for everyone in supporting ongoing motivation.

However, there are plenty of options that you can try, to see if they work for you. If they do, you should incorporate them into your ongoing strategy. If not, then put them aside and try something else.

The important thing is whether your strategy keeps you motivated, not whether other people agree with you.

Tips for staying motivated👇

1. Designated study space

The first step to help you motivate yourself to study at home involves creating a designated space for your learning and revision to take place. Whether it’s a desk in your bedroom, or a portion of the kitchen table, make sure you sit in this same space each time you want to study, so your body gets into a routine of knowing that this is the space in which it needs to focus.

2. Effective study schedule

One of the greatest benefits of getting up and going into school and/or college or university, is that you follow a structured timetable that helps your body get into routine. As humans, we need routine to help our brains know where and when to focus our attention, as well as when to relax. Therefore, it’s essential you create your own schedule/timetable to ensure you can study efficiently at home.

3. Break the task down into manageable chunks

A big task, such as writing a dissertation, or revising for an extended period, can be demotivating because it seems so big.

Breaking the task down into manageable chunks can therefore help make it seem less daunting.

4. Try different study approaches

Especially when you first start studying, you will not necessarily know what works for you.

tps://images.app.goo.gl/Lpx19WcA7caLYqDA9

It is therefore worth trying different approaches, to see which you find most productive.

It is also worth varying your studying to keep you interested. Some days you may want to look at one subject, and try another on a different day. You may also find it helpful to vary your style of working. You could, for example, try working in different places, and varying whether you work alone or with friends.

5. Exercise regularly

When you’re focused on studying for a major exam, it’s common to overlook exercise.

But, as far as possible, get 20 to 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

This is because regular exercise is vital if you want to study effectively and stay motivated.

Aerobic activity, such as swimming, jogging or walking, sends oxygen, blood and nutrients to your brain.

This helps you to think and concentrate.

Conclusion

The key to getting motivated to study is organising your time and work, and knowing how to use your mind effectively.

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the girl child, educate the girl child)

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the girl child, educate the girl child), Is a campaign of the government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India. we can say that women were dis-empowered instead of being empowered. In order to empower women and give them their full rights, right from the birth the Government of India has launched this scheme. The scheme was launched with an initial funding of Rs.100 crore. It mainly targets the clusters in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarkhand, Punjab, Bihar and Delhi.

Reasons for this initiative

The reduction of in the female population of certain Indian states continues to worsen, as result of the 2011 national census have shown. After the birth of a girl child, she has to face another type of discrimination in terms of education, health, nutrition safety, rights and other needs of the girl child. It has been observed that the trends is most pronounced in relatively prosperous regions of India. The dowry system in India is often blamed, the expectation that a large dowry must be provided for daughters in order for them to marry is frequently cited as a major cause for the problem. Pressure for parents to provide large dowries for their daughters is most intense in prosperous states where high standards of living and modern consumerism, are more prevalent in Indian society. Rates of female foeticide in Madhya Pradesh are increasing, the rate of livebirths was 932 girls per 1000 boys in 2001, which dropped to 918 by 2011. It is expected that if this trend continues by 2021 the number of girls will drop below 900 per 1000 boys.

Support

The Government of India has formed a National Executive Committee to promote Beti Bachao Beti Padao (BBBP) across the country. The committee is organizing a number of programs to promote “Save Girl Child” and “To Educate Girl Child” since January 2015. Dr.Rajendra Phadke is the National Convener of BBBP Abhiyan. The BBBP is also supported by the Indian Medical Association.

Effectiveness

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) reported that the scheme failed to meet its objectives. As per the CAG data, the sex ratio has deteriorated in many districts of Haryana and Punjab. According to the report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development only Rs.5 crore of a total of Rs.43 crore allotted for the scheme in the financial year 2016-2017 was properly used. As per the government data, more than 56% of funds were spent on publicity from 2014-2015 to 2018-19. Less than 25% of the funds were released to districts and states, and the government did not release more than 19 percent of the funds. Minister of state Ministry of Women and Child Development. Virendra Kumar Khatik, claimed that the sex ratio in 53 put of 161 districts under the scheme declined between 2014-15 and 2016-17. According to experts, the scheme’s minimal success is due to the government’s inability to release funds efficiently and its disproportionate focus on publicity rather than making initiatives in the health and education sectors.

Let’s all join our hands together and save a girl child and educate a girl child.

Mental Illness and the stigma around it

Stigma is when someone sees you in a negative way because of a particular characteristic or attribute (such as skin colour, cultural background, a disability or a mental illness). When someone treats you in a negative way because of your mental illness, this is discrimination.

Stigma happens when a person defines someone by their illness rather than who they are as an individual. For example, they might be labelled ‘psychotic’ rather than ‘a person experiencing psychosis’.

For people with mental health issues, the social stigma and discrimination they experience can make their problems worse, making it harder to recover. It may cause the person to avoid getting the help they need because of the fear of being stigmatised.

The harmful effects of stigma

Some of the effects of stigma include:

  • feelings of shame, hopelessness and isolation
  • reluctance to ask for help or to get treatment
  • lack of understanding by family, friends or others
  • fewer opportunities for employment or social interaction
  • bullying, physical violence or harassment
  • self-doubt – the belief that you will never overcome your illness or be able to achieve what you want in life.

Dealing with stigma

Here are some ways you can deal with stigma:

Get the mental health treatment you need. Try not to let the fear of being labelled with a mental illness stop you from getting help.

Do not believe it. Sometimes, if you hear or experience something often enough, you start to believe it yourself. Try not to let other people’s ignorance influence the way you feel about yourself. Mental illness is not a sign of weakness and is rarely something you can deal with on your own. Talking about your mental health issues with healthcare professionals will help you on your road to recovery or management.

Do not hide away. Many people with mental illness want to isolate themselves from the world. Reaching out to people you trust – family, friends, coaches or religious leaders – can mean you get the support you need.

Connect with others. Joining a mental health support group – either online or in person – can help you deal with feelings of isolation and make you realise that you are not alone in your feelings and experiences.

You are not your illness. Do not define yourself by your illness as other people might. Instead of saying ‘I’m schizophrenic’, say ‘I have schizophrenia’. There is power in language.

It’s not personal. Remember that other people’s judgements often come from a lack of understanding rather than anything else. These judgments are made before they get to know you, so do not believe that their views have anything to do with you personally.

Discrimination – your rights

Australia has legislation against discrimination and agrees with international conventions that protect the rights of people with mental illness.

  • The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission promotes equal opportunity and can help you address unlawful discrimination.
  • The Australian Human Rights Commission is a Commonwealth Government agency that promotes human rights and deals with compliance and discrimination.
  • At the international level, the United Nations General Assembly has ‘Principles for the protection of persons with mental illness and the improvement of mental health care’. The World Health Organization also has information on mental health and human rights.

Challenging stigma associated with mental illness

Everyone has a role to play in creating a mentally healthy community – one that is inclusive, rejects discrimination and supports recovery. Ways to help include:

  • learning the facts about mental illness and sharing them with family, friends, work colleagues and classmates
  • getting to know people with personal experiences of mental illness so you learn to see them for the person they are rather than their illness.
  • not judging, label or discriminate when you meet people with mental illness. Treat all people with respect and dignity.
  • avoiding using language that puts the illness first and the person second. Say ‘a person with bipolar disorder’ rather than ‘that person is bipolar’.
  • saying something when you hearpeople around you making stereotypical or inaccurate comments about mental illness.
  • sharing your own experience of mental illness (if you have experienced it). This will help dispel myths and encourage others to do the same. Mental illness is not something shameful that needs to be hidden.

The movie stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow and Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson. The movie has very good action scenes and the plot always keeps you guessing as to what comes next.

Bronte’s Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte’s only novel, was published in 1847 under the pseudonym “Ellis Bell”. It is now a classic of English literature but was controversial because of its writing style. The novel has emerged as one of those rare texts like Frankenstein and Dracula and has inspired many adaptations, including film, radio, and television dramatizations, etc. It is a novel full of contradictions and it offers many things to critics and general readers. The special relationship between Cathy and Heathcliff leads the story. Celebration of incomplete love and death can be seen throughout the novel. At first, Cathy rejected her love and married Edgar. Then she has been guilty of hiding her desire towards Heathcliff. When Cathy says ‘he’s more myself than I am, she is actually expressing that they are one or nondifferentiation between them. In fact, they are the two aspects of one person. The violent nature of Heathcliff can be put into the unconscious stage or id and the calculated behavior of Catherine is the conscious stage or ego of human behavior. Bronte doesn’t give an end to Cathy’s and Heathcliff’s love and their reunion at Catherine’s deathbed suggests that death can unite them. After Cathy’s death, Heathcliff can’t resist himself because of frustration. He was haunted by his beloved’s memory.

Bronte portrayed Heathcliff as a black man. The novel possesses a happy atmosphere in the absence of Heathcliff. The characters lived happily before his arrival and piece were maintained after his death. He is often regarded as an archetype of the tortured anti-hero whose all-consuming rage, jealousy, and anger destroy both him and those around him. Readers need to decide if his revenge is focused on his lost position at Wuthering Heights, his loss of Catherine to Edgar, or if it is his assertion of dignity as a human being. The difficulty most readers have relating to and understanding Heathcliff is the fact that he hates as deeply as he loves; therefore, he is despised as much as he is pitied. By marrying Isabella, Heathcliff also gains power over her and control of her money. Heathcliff elopes with Isabella to hurt Edgar and to revenge himself against Edgar Linton, whom he hates. The struggle between haves and have noted is also an element in this novel. Wuthering Heights examines stereotypes of masculinity and femininity. Emily Bronte constantly contrasts masculinity and femininity, but not all of the comparisons are simple; sometimes boys act like girls and girls act like boys.

The novel was criticized for its approach to love and Bronte’s writing style got appreciation. Settings play a major role here. The entire set of the novel is a place that is far away from society. Most of the critics pointed that the settings and the unusual behavior of the characters make the novel more unreal. The moors, the hills, the weather …all reflect the deserted and gloomy state of life inside Wuthering Heights. It seems happy from the outside but the real condition inside Wuthering Heights was just the opposite. The Earnshaw and Clinton families show different styles of living. Linton lead a calculated and mannered life while Earnshaw’s lead an uncivilized life. The use of supernatural elements provides more pain and sorrow to the atmosphere. The central appeal of the novel is strengthened by the pain and tragedy in it. Each and every character are suffering from pain. Evil has landed in the Heights when Catherine’s father had brought a storm with him from Liverpool, (Heathcliff’s entry). The central characters Heathcliff and Catherine are similar in various aspects. Both are stubborn and possessive. Anything which is more dramatic than their love is Heathcliff’s obsession for revenge. One by one most characters fail in front of him. The sharp contrast between the members of the Earnshaw family and the Linton family suggests that if you try to match opposite ends, the result can be something tragic. No soul finds satisfaction in the novel until at last Heathcliff is dead. After Catherine’s death, she lies in between Edgar and Heathcliff. She was like this in her life too. Catherine blamed herself for not marrying Heathcliff. Her husband was a failure according to her. He couldn’t give that much affection to Heathcliff. Comparing with him Edgar looks like a poor and comic character. Between the two, the fate of Catherine is even tragic who dies giving birth to Cathy. Several critics found Heathcliff a deformed monster and an insane psychopath.

The two people that remain are Cathy and Hareton. Cathy treats Hareton with love because she is aware of the quality faced by Hareton from the hands of Heathcliff. Catherine and Heathcliff could not unite in their lives but the marriage of Cathy and Hareton is an indication that the two will be united after death. Bronte pictures the end as a new beginning in the novel. From Mr. Earnshaw to Heathcliff, Catherine, and even the Linton kids, nobody gets the things they had expected in their life. The only problem is that the author has explored a deeply sadistic side of love that critics of her time found very difficult to digest but then a story is born in the corners where you least expect it. Also, the novel possesses a collective consciousness of Emily Bronte’s white, aristocratic background.

The strength that Wuthering Heights possess is it cannot be easily classified as any particular type of novel. It can be read and interpreted from multiple perspectives. It is also a social novel about class structure in society as well as a treatise on the role of women. Also, it is an important contemporary novel for two reasons: Its honest and accurate portrayal of life during an early era provides a glimpse of history, and the literary merit it possesses in and of itself enables the text to rise above entertainment and rank as quality literature. Anyway, Emily Bronte’s novel has overcome its initial criticism to warm the hearts of romantics and realists worldwide.

When Lord Shiva’s hand is on you, what signs might you expect to see?

Lord Shiva carries the title of destroyer in our texts. Every Shiva devotee is curious as to how Lord Shankar was born and who his parents are. In the Puranas, there are several accounts about Lord Shiva’s birth and his parents. Lord Shiva is said to be Swayambhu, or his origin is himself, according to the Shiva Purana. Bholenath exists beyond of time and space.

A narrative of Lord Shiva’s birth can be found in the Vishnu Purana. According to mythology, when Brahma ji required a child, he performed penance. Then Shiva, the sobbing kid, arrived in her lap. When Brahma inquired as to why the youngster was crying, he simply replied that because his name was not “Brahma,” he was crying. Brahma then gave Shiva the name Rudra, which means “one who weeps.” The birth of Shiva as Brahma’s son is also the subject of a mythical narrative in the Vishnu Purana. According to this, when the entire cosmos, including the earth, heaven, and Hades, was inundated, only Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh remained. Then only Vishnu, on his Sheshnag, was seen resting on the water’s surface. Then Brahma ji arrived on his navel’s lotus umbilical cord.

When one’s heart is full of devotion, there is no room in one’s head for impure thoughts. And someone who has bhakti will not appreciate someone just because they are affluent or powerful. He is unconcerned about wealth or pelf. In a discourse, R. Narayanan said that he will always have regard for those who are devoted to God.Appar claims that if a person is not a devotee of Lord Siva, he will be indifferent to him, even if he is as wealthy as Kubera, the God of Wealth. If a man is a devotee of Lord Siva, however, Appar will worship him regardless of his wealth.

Signs you can expect

  1. Your ego will crumble, and it will be at an all-time low.
  2. You’ll see that nothing is filthy or lovely; everything has its own essence.
  3. You will no longer seek acceptance from others; the only approval you will require is from your own soul and Lord Shiva.
  4. You’ll want to cry if you encounter someone in suffering or who is hungry.
  5. You will not pass judgment on anyone and will value human beings regardless of their financial, physical, or other characteristics.
  6. You will no longer objectify women; instead, you will perceive a woman as a human being, not a gender.
  7. Anger will be at an all-time low, and there will be perpetual enjoyment and a smile on the face for no apparent reason.
  8. Very upbeat, and a beautiful radiance will emerge.

Online shopping or Offline shopping?

Who doesn’t love shopping? Shopping is therapeutic. Everytime we go for shopping, our mood changes. We get excited when we get our hands on the things we have wished for. The sense of happiness that we experience is something so different. Human wants are endless and so are the reasons to shop.

These days there has been a debate going on, whether online shopping is better or offline shopping. However, both modes of shopping has its own pros and cons. People have not taken over just one mode of shopping rather they prefer both based on their convenience. Of course, it cannot be denied that online shopping has quite a bit threatened the functioning of offline retail stores.

Online Shopping

With easy access to Internet, we are just a few clicks away to get what we want. Online shopping is undoubtedly a relaxing and convenient mode of shopping. Right from clothes to groceries, digital gadgets to crafted products, almost everything can be purchased online. Especially in the time of pandemic, online shopping has bloomed greatly. People prefer to use online shopping platforms to get their essentials delivered rather than going out and risking their lives. However, online shopping has its own pros and cons.

Pros of online shopping

When shopping online we can get our hands on a variety of products at the same time. We can buy clothes, ornaments, shoes etc at once without having to hop here and there.

We can easily find branded and imported products online without any difficulty.

There is no particular time to shop online. We can place our order at any time of the day and at any day of the week.

Sometimes, in different shopping applications the prices of the same product varies. In that case we can make a comparison and buy from the pocket friendly app.

When shopping online, the ordered products gets delivered right at our doorstep which definitely is a great advantage of shopping online.

We can filter our choices and preferences to narrow down the search so that we can view only those types of products we are looking for.

In online shopping platforms, some or the other discounts goes on everyday that allows the buyers to shop at a lower price.

A buyer can confirm the quality and authenticity of the products by looking at the reviews and ratings provided by other buyers of the same products.

Cons of online shopping

The products takes a long time to get delivered. Sometimes, due to prolonged delivery the buyer might face certain problems.

Because we cannot touch or see the product we are buying in real, there might be some issues with the quality or size of the product. Every brand has different size and quality and so it is difficult to identify the quality and the accurate size of the product we order.

Sometimes, the picture of the product that we buy may be deceptive. We might receive something which not at all look like the one we have seen online. Getting what we didn’t order would be a disappointment. The disappointment would be worst if no ‘return’ facility is provided for that product. It would be a sheer waste of money.

With increasing rates of cyber crimes online shoppers have become the soft targets of the criminals. The bank details of the online shoppers might get hacked which indeed creates a big problem.

Offline Shopping

Offline shopping is the traditional mode of shopping. This mode of shopping has its own unique charm. Despite the popularity of online shopping, offline shopping has still survived. People often roam around the streets with their friends and families adding life to the shops and social relationships are established between the customers and shopkeepers. Offline Shopping too has its own pros and cons.

Pros of offline shopping

When we buy from a physical store, we can buy the products after closely inspecting the quality of it. We can take a trial of the things be it clothes, shoes etc that we wish to buy so that we don’t regret the purchase.

If by any chance, after the purchase we do not like the product, we can easily return or exchange it.

We need not wait for a long time to get the products we buy. We can immediately get it after we pay the price of the product to the shopkeeper.

No offline shopper buys something without bargaining. The customers enjoy it.

If we suddenly get an invitation to attend an event and we want to look presentable, the only option that strikes our mind is to shop from an offline retail store. We can immediately rush to the market and buy a dress, shoe, jewellery or any such things that we need without any delay.

Cons of offline shopping

Offline shopping can be tiresome. Sometimes people spend their whole day hopping from one shop to another to buy the product they want and still not find it. In that case, it would be a waste of time and energy. To return home empty hand after spending hours in the market can be frustrating.

Markets are a crowded area. Too many people getting into a shop can disrupt shopping fun. Waiting at a shop for a long time to get bills paid is not liked at all. People generally prefer to shop in a peaceful environment without much hassle.

Limited branded clothes are accessible in offline stores.

Buying from an offline store can be expensive most of the times. Customers find the same product online at a much lower price.

Inter – relation between online and offline shopping

Although both the modes of shopping has its own advantages and disadvantages yet there is an inter – relation between the two. Some offline retail store put up their products online for the customers to purchase. This way they earn a good amount of profit.

No mode of shopping can completely overpower the other. Both plays their unique role in providing services to people. People use both the modes as per their preferences and convenience. However, be it online or offline, it cannot be denied that shopping brings a smile on the face of the people. Yes, it is no less than a therapy.

Their pressure can meddle with their capacity to focus, which makes learning and scholarly issues at school.

Some parents, knowing how destructive conflict can be, may think that they can avoid affecting their children by giving in, or capitulating, in order to end an argument. But that’s not an effective tactic. “We did a study on that,” Cummings said. According to parents’ records of their fights at home and their children’s reactions, kids’ emotional responses to capitulation are “not positive.”

At the point when guardians have gentle to direct clash that includes backing and compromise and positive feelings, youngsters foster better friendly abilities and confidence, appreciate expanded passionate security, foster better associations with guardians, improve in school and have less mental issues.

High-struggle circumstances are upsetting for guardians as well. What’s more, a worried parent probably won’t invest a great deal of energy with kids. What’s more, the nature of the relationship might be influenced as it very well might be hard for guardians to show warmth and fondness when they’re irate and angry with the other parent.

Consequences of Colonialism: How It is Still Having an Effect Today

The contemporary Middle Eastern dilemma began when Europeans established the lines at the end of World War I. Middle Easterners are perpetually at war over ethnic and religious differences as a result of the thoughtless distinctions — a characteristic emphasized by colonial overlords.

Before the First World War, the British Empire was the apex of dominance, ruling roughly a quarter of the globe as the world’s largest colonial empire. For nearly two centuries, Britain has continued to feed its drive for domination while ignoring its responsibility to its colonies.

The British took considerable attempts to enrich their motherland by exploiting the resources and manpower of their colonies. They collected taxes to meet Britain’s financial needs and compelled raw material production for Britain’s industries and exports, destroying the colonies’ integrated and self-sufficient economies. They insured that any united resistance to them would be repressed by measures like the “divide and rule” strategy. The British used religious differences to sow division in order to maintain control over the colonies. Religious differences in people’s minds are a cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

While the British professed to be on a civilizing mission, their actions fell well short of this goal and failed to exhibit a liberal attitude. To begin with, the idea of civilizing such old societies was faulty. Also during the First World War, the British made promises that were short-sighted. For example, they offered Jews a distinct homeland in the modern-day Palestinian region, while also promising the same to Arabs.

Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates have succeeded in constructing their new societies based on the essence of what looked viable for their society and culture, rather than on European principles. Burqas are still worn by many women throughout the Middle East as a cultural duty, and the official languages of these countries are local.

While Middle Eastern countries absorbed Western emphasis on scientific and political progress, they only instilled the best for their own countries rather than emulating the Western world in its entirety. People gained greater abilities as a result of their interactions with Westerners, making the country theoretically capable of competing with the West. The abundance of oil and other natural resources has elevated the commercial prestige and prosperity of countries like Egypt today.

People from these countries have relocated to Western countries that are supposedly safe and have adequate law enforcement. Unfortunately, they are not welcomed openly, are unable to get legal status, and are denied their rights. It’s difficult to deny that immigrants in some nations are treated unfairly, and that not all of them find a home. Intervening for personal gain while ignoring human responsibility does not make a country more strong. Despite the fact that the human species is an unified society, divisions such as provinces, countries, and continents have been drawn. As a result, it’s critical to freely offer altruistic help of an unworldly type that looks beyond boundaries.

Also The consequences of colonialism should not be overlooked or regarded as insignificant because they continue to influence how many countries conduct domestic and foreign politics today. Furthermore, it is a part of our nations’ narratives — both conquerors and colonized — and should be explored in order to avoid similar results in the future.

#MeToo

There are times when you feel the rage and anguish in the air, at least from a certain section of the society. Many are now raising their voices to improve their individual personality as well as the society as a whole. A society develops only when individuals themselves create ripples by hosting their arguments. Several movements are there which is woman centric and the MeToo movement being one among them. The #MeToo movement first began as an offline protest and later it changed to an online movement. The movement was started around 2006 and it reached the online platforms in October 2017. It’s the voice of the educated women against the deep trenched male dominant culture at the workspace. The #MeToo movement was founded by Tarana Burke, a social activist and community organizer. Burke, who is creating a documentary titled Me Too, has said she was inspired to use the phrase after being unable to respond to a 13-year-old girl who confided to her that she had been sexually assaulted. Burke said she later wished she had simply told the girl, ‘Me too’. It’s a platform for the oppressed and a means to express the abuse they had faced. When news of the allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein broke last October, it unleashed a torrent of emotion, especially on social media, offering permission to disclose current and past experiences of sexual harassment and assault. In an unprecedented quantum of use, it offered many angry and upset women accessible ways of venting often long-repressed feelings. It also gave rise to the #MeToo movement. A barrage of allegations has since emerged against high-profile men in entertainment, the media, politics, and tech. Many deny any wrongdoing. The repercussions are still in flux, but world’s power dynamics have undoubtedly shifted.

It’s a common practice in the world to abuse women irrespective of the age. It doesn’t mean that only women are being abused, men also belong to this but when compared the rate of abuse is very less. Abusing women has now become a part of culture mainly because of the stereotypes. #MeToo is one way to overcome these stereotypes. The reason for the #MeToo public explosion is that the judiciary or armed forces never bothered about their problems and their suffocations. It is seen that the law favors the oppressor more than the oppressed. The whole process shamed the victim. Many of the sexual assault happened when workplaces were not sensitive to the safety of women and social media platforms were nonexistent. Besides this, our power structure is dominated by men and the victims are young and vulnerable women.

Social media is both a boon and bane. It is depends on how we treat a certain issue.  #MeToo movement has been very active in social media since the latter half of 2017. It is in fact the social media that urged the advancement of #MeToo. The hashtag #MeToo is doing the rounds in every nook and cranny of social media. As more and more women come out on social media with accounts of sexual harassment and abuse a great political cultural change in being shaped. The change brought by #MeToo movement is immense and it has been able to give the possible credentials to women. It has achieved great success in challenging the social norms. Many men, who are charged of sexual assault through the #MeToo movement, some admitted and apologized to the misconduct they have committed. This, in this instance, has become an eye opener for many men. In this wave of storm, prominent personalities are named for their harsh behavior. The #MeToo is critical of the power and the way it enables sexual predators. #MeToo is trying to fill the gender gap that has been produced by the patriarchy. There are so many laws to protect sexual harassment of women in workplace.

In a feminist perspective, #MeToo is a translation of western culture. The #MeToo movement can be analyzed from the notion of female experience. The subjects involved in the process are all women of all age. It determines the point of view without any hesitance or shyness and in a courageous manner. The experiences differ from other females and males. It can be related to the ‘second wave of feminism’ which portrays equal rights and representation as its key motive. In #MeToo movement, there is no celebration of so called ‘feminity’. It’s a transformation from ‘inter – dependence’ to independence. In relation to Cixous’, ‘Ecriture Feminine’ which exemplifies women to writing about her body, #MeToo is a continuation of this concept and not only writing about body but also writing about the sexual violence that is faced by women. It was a renewal of an old tradition of thoughts and action. #MeToo movement revisits the history of Indian Feminism. The American Feminist critic Eliane Showalter classified the history of women’s writing into feminine phase, feminist phase and female phase. In feminine phase women writers imitated the dominant male artistic norms; in feminist phase a radical position was maintained and in female phase women started writing their own experiences. The #MeToo movement can he considered as a part of female phase as it involves expressing the sexual violence that is imbibed upon them.

Why digital multitasking is bad?

Do you also switch between two digital tasks at once? Like watching television and surfing Instagram feed or watching a Netflix show and watching some reels or maybe texting your friend while attending online classes on your laptop. A recent study showed how switching or multitasking your screen time can affect your attention span or memory. A survey showed how adolescents are addicted to their phones and the average screen time recorded was 7 hours and 38 minutes. But, with digitalization and pandemic, this screen time is much more increased to massive 10 hours and 45 minutes every day.

A research study performed at Stanford University proved how multitasking between two or more digital media affects both attention span and memory. The study was performed on the 18-26 age group and many memory-related tasks were assigned. An electroencephalogram or EEG was used for data collection. As frontal and parietal parts of the brain are involved in attention and memory, these areas were the principal focus.

The group which multitasked scored low in the memory tasks and increased alpha wave was observed with shrinking in pupils. In contrast, the other group which do not multitask scored higher in memory tasks and no such observations were recorded in this case. After the study, the researchers concluded that digital media multitasking and attention spans & memory are correlated.

Furthermore, multitasking or switching between digital media causes switch-gaps, which means it takes longer to take a task, and it also increases the number of errors in the tasks.

Putting in a nutshell in some way or the other, multitasking between digital media can affect your attention span and memory, so it is better to do one task at a time because a person who chases two rabbits catches neither.

Pegasus Spyware – A curse to privacy ?

What is the work of Pegasus and What is its origin ?

Pegasus owned by a NSO group- a private foundation, which many leading countries believe that it is the most powerful spyware ever created, it was coded to infiltrate into the smartphones of target users, be it IOS or Android, and it converts personal devices into surveillance devices. It is the main product of NSO group which was founded by Niv Carmi, Shalev Hulio and Omri Lavie. It is a Herzliya based company located near Tel Aviv, Israel which was founded in 2010, it is a subsidiary of Q Cyber Technologies group of companies.

What is the actual meaning of a Spyware?

Let’s get this straight, in simple words, a spyware is the term given to a category of software which aims to steal personal or organisational data/information without the consent of host. Once a spyware is successfully installed, it starts sending the data from that computer/mobile in the background to a third-party which is controlling this spyware. This third-party can be any government or The NSO group itself.

Pegasus can bypass your phone’s security and install malware that grants complete access to your device. It can access every message you’ve ever sent and received, every photo, video and email, can turn on your microphone, even when you’re not using a phone call, just record what you’re doing in the room. It can turn on your camera, and is also able to record what’s on your screen, can access your GPS, it can monitor your location. And it is able do all of this without you ever knowing.

So if you think that you are using online chatting apps like WhatsApp owned by Facebook or Signal owned by Moxie Marlinspike and Brian Acton which are famous for end-to-end encryption but this gets meaningless once Pegasus is on your phone. It is virtually undetectable which makes it even more lethal.

History of Pegasus software :

  • To begin with the brief history of Pegasus, in 2016 the Canadian Cybersecurity Organisation The Citizen Lab encountered it’s first case on the smartphone of Human Right activist Ahmed Mansoor.
  • In addition, in September 2018 The Citizen Lab published a report identifying 45 countries in which Pegasus was being used.
  • Furthermore, in the year 2019 WhatsApp exposed that journalists and Human Rights Activists in India were under surveillance by operators using Pegasus.
  • The latest case of this spyware is found India in July 2021, The Pegasus Project revealed that various governments used the software to spy on government officials, opposition politicians and many more eminent faces. Some records state that Indian government used the software to spy on around 300 people between 2019 and 2021.

Is spying legal in India?

The laws governing surveillance in India are The Telegraph Act, 1885 which indicates about the interception of calls and The Information Technology Act, 2000, it deals with the interception of data. Under both the laws, only government, under certain circumstances, is allowed to conduct surveillance. Moreover, hacking in India is illegal under IT Act.

Is there any solution to save us from this cyber attack havoc ?

Many Cybersecurity experts state that a phone infiltrated by Pegasus might not be able to recover completely, some traces can be found even after a strong factory reset.

Although they have introduced some preventive measures to save oneself from getting hitched with this software.

Open links only from trusted websites, contacts and sources while using your device.

Please make sure that your device is fully upgraded with the latest patches and system/app updates.

Keep your device safe by limiting physical access. This can be done by applying pin, password, biometric locking and face-locking facility.

Also avoid using open Wi-fi or hotspot as the host may steal your data from the network connection. Try using VPN to prevent this condition while using Wi-fi or hotspots it is a safer option to prevent your information.

Do have a backup of your credentials and important documents, if in case your device is lost, stolen or broken you will never lack from your data.

THE MODERN TECHNOLOGY-GOOD AND BAD EFFECTS

Technology, the application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life, or as it is sometimes phrased, to change and manipulation of the human environment. Technology is the sum of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation. Technology can be the knowledge of techniques processes and the like or it can be embedded in machines to allow for operation without detailed knowledge of their workings. Systems applying technology by taking an input, changing it according to the system’ use and then producing an outcome are referred to as technology systems or technological systems.

History

The use of tools by early humans was partly a process of discovery and of evolution. Early humans evolved from a species of foraging hominids which were already bipedal, with a brain mass approximately one third of modern humans. Tool use remained relatively unchanged for most of early human history. Approximately 50,000 years ago, the use of tools and complex set of behaviors emerged, believed by many archaeologists to be connected to the emergence of the fully modern language.

Is technology good or bad

These days it’s trendy to talk about technology as if it were purely a bad thing. After all, we’ve got companies violating our privacy and harvesting our data without being transparent about what they’re doing, tools like personal assistants recording us without our knowledge and regular breaches that put our personal information at risk. The same tools we’re concerned about can also makes our lives better from connecting doctors more quickly than ever to patient data to digital bus routes that make transport more efficient. Technology on it’s own isn’t bad or a good thing, it’s how it’s used that matters.

The evolution of technology is beneficial to humans for several reasons. At the medical level, technology can help treat more sick people and consequently save many lives and combat very harmful viruses and bacteria. Technology has also increased the productivity of almost every industry in the world.

Modern technology is used for many lifestyles conveniences from our smartphones to our vehicles, but it’s also saving lives every second by advancing our medical science. Technology allows the world’s most state-of-the-art hospitals to catch and treat diseases faster and more efficient than ever.

Technology reduces the cost of doing much of the work. The lower cost of production helps to increase the profit margin, which is essential in eradicating poverty. Technology opens up doors for new opportunities to do business or work. In turn, it increases the household incomes among the poor population.

Social media and mobile devices may lead to psychological and physical issues, such as eyestrain and difficulty focusing on important tasks. They may also contribute to more serious health conditions, such as depression. The overuse of technology may have a more significant impact on developing children and teenagers.

Technology addiction falls into a category of addiction termed behavioral addictions. Behavioral addictions are widely recognized by mental health and addiction professionals and include other behaviors such as gambling etc.

Conclusion

You must know this, before getting VACCINATED!!

As we all are aware, coronavirus affects different people in different ways. Some people suffer from serious symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pain while some people suffer from mild symptoms like loss of taste or smell, sore throat, headache etc.

Even after COVID recovery, people are getting infected by new fungal infections like Black fungus and White fungus. As the immunity of the body takes some time to recover, COVID patients are becoming easy targets for these fungal infections.

The only way to be safe from this coronavirus and its after harms, is to get VACCINATED.

Now, coming to the point of vaccination, people are having various misconceptions. Like,

  • Which vaccine should be preferred?
  • What will be the side-effects of taking vaccine?
  • Can vaccination guarantee protection against COVID?
  • Can anyone get corona after vaccination?

And so on.

All the vaccines , COVISHIELD, COVAXIN, SPUTNIK V have passed the standard approval of WHO(WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION). All are efficient and preventive against corona. These vaccines are made available free of cost at government institutions and hospitals.

Side effects:

Any side effects after taking vaccine are an indication of the working of vaccine inside the body. People can have side-effects like headache, body pain, low grade fever and fatigue. However, these side-effects will resolve in a matter of 2-3 days.

Lastly, vaccination does help in protection against COVID, but it can be ensured only after taking both vaccine doses.(1 & 2). People who have taken only 1st dose of vaccine, should follow the same guidelines of wearing masks, maintaining social distances in public, frequently sanitizing your hands.

Artificial Intelligence Taking Away the Jobs.

Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Artificial intelligent machines are the machines that work according to human programming commands and thereby also use their own intelligence to make decisions at times when needed. AI enabled machines are taught to do particular set of operations by machine learning processes.

Artificial Intelligence in Industries

Nowadays many industries are using AI enabled machines to do various work functions that were done previously by humans. Automated Robots are the best example of AI implemented in Industries. AI enabled Robots can do various operations like, Painting a car in Automobile Industries, Cleaning Robots for floor cleaning, Automated welding robots, etc. are performing various functions at very efficient rate eating up jobs of people.

Artificial Intelligence in Service sector

Chatbots are the best example of AI in service sector. Many telecom service providers, Banking service providers, etc. have started using AI enabled chatbots for getting reviews, complaints, service demand requests, etc. using chatbots inside their apps. Chatbots are eating up the jobs of receptionist who were involved in transferring calls, taking feedback like tasks. Although complete replacement is not done but in future if Chatbots grow more intelligent people are going to loose their jobs.

Artificial Intelligence in IT industries

Artificial Intelligence has also become threat to the community who is behind it’s creation, It won’t affect the skilled programmers but will surely eat up jobs of lazy programmers getting their jobs done by simply pasting things form open source. A recent example of it is GitHub Copilot. These kind of AI powered tools if they get more smarter and efficient have potential to take away jobs of mediocre coders. Besides developers the employees working for testing and support activities are also at a risk of loosing their jobs because of AI.

Other miscellaneous sectors

Many other small scale business and people involved in various activities like driving, selling things on streets, etc. are at risk. Big e-commerce companies are using AI enabled tools to attract large mass of people enabling them to provide products at cheaper rates. Self Driving cars are also becoming threat to their jobs.

Likewise there are many dark sides of AI, but there are also so many bright sides of AI that are making our life easier and happy. The Bright side story will be shared in my upcoming blog !

Trauma and Its Effect on Relationships

Traumatic incidents are uncontrollable, distressing events that leave a lasting imprint on the people they affect. People who have survived trauma often continue to live normal lives, but the effects of trauma may impact mood, motivation and relationships. It’s normal to experience some changes after a distressing and uncontrollable event, and it’s important to know when to seek supportive trauma treatment.

All humans have unique life experiences and backgrounds, and each person may react to a traumatic incident in a unique way. Events that are traumatic to one person may not feel as distressing to another person. Everyone reflects on and recovers from trauma in their own way, and it may have differing effects on relationships, confidence and the sense of overall safety each person experiences.

Types of Trauma

There are different types of trauma. Some people experience a single traumatic event in a given time period, while others experience what is known as “complex trauma.” Complex trauma occurs when traumatic incidents are repeated, or when new, unique traumas continually occur. For instance, complex trauma may occur in families that struggle with domestic violence, addiction, poverty, chronic illness or ongoing community violence.

Both single-incident trauma and complex trauma can impact relationships with co-workers, friends, spouses, family members and the relationship with self.

If you experience some of the following symptoms, trauma may be affecting your life:

  • Irritability or chronic anger
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia or difficult sleep
  • Agitation, impatience or an inability to sit still
  • Intrusive memories, nightmares or flashbacks
  • Feeling “out of body” or disconnected from other people
  • Becoming “shut down” or unable to accomplish goals
  • Struggles with depression or unhappiness
  • Changes in appetite
  • Needing to have things a “certain way” or repeat activities over and over
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Engaging in risky, dangerous or unusual behaviours
  • Wanting to hurt yourself or others
  • Difficulty trusting others
  • Feeling unsafe
  • Using drugs, alcohol or behaviours to numb anxiety or distress
  • Avoiding friends, loved ones or activities you used to enjoy
  • Worsening of other mental health issues or diagnoses

How Childhood Trauma Impacts Adult Relationships

Many people experience some type of traumatic incident before the age of 18. Psychologists agree that our early family environment can impact our adult relationships. Traumatic incidents that occur during childhood can become part of a person’s adult attachment style.

As children, we look to our parents and other trusted adults to help us form ideas about the world. Children want to know if other people are trustworthy if the world is a safe place and if their loved ones will be there for them if they are in need. The information they gain from the close adults in their lives helps form lasting impressions of the nature of love, friendship and trust.

Childhood experiences can create particular attachment styles that last well into adulthood. A person’s attachment style reflects how warm or close that person likes to be in relationships. Attachment style can influence the way we communicate with others, and how we handle separations, arguments and intimacy.

As adults, we can change maladaptive attachment styles through personal insight, counselling and support. Taking time to improve relationships can also improve other conditions, such as anxiety, PTSD or depression.

Consider the following styles of attachment, and see if any might apply to you or someone you love.

Secure attachment: A secure attachment style is the healthiest attachment style. People who have secure attachments often had supportive childhood caregivers. These individuals feel comfortable connecting with others, asking for help as needed, and sharing emotions with others to a reasonable and healthy extent. People with secure attachment do not live in fear of abandonment or rejection, and they have a healthy view of themselves and others.

Dismissive-avoidant attachment: Individuals with this type of attachment (also known as “insecure-avoidant”) often experienced childhood neglect or rejection from caregivers. These individuals may avoid being close to others and often strive to be very independent, even to extremes. They may be more likely to keep secrets or fear threats to their perceived independence.

Fearful-avoidant attachment: These individuals may have experienced some type of childhood abuse, chaos or neglect. This attachment style often occurs when loved caregivers are also a source of pain. The resulting attachment style may make these adults afraid to be alone, but also afraid of closeness and intimacy. They often have difficulty trusting others and may alternate from one extreme of closeness to complete avoidance.

Anxious-preoccupied attachment: This attachment style occurs when adults have experienced constant childhood change, inconsistent parents or caregivers who alternate between extreme attentiveness and distant coldness. As adults, these individuals experience a great deal of anxiety about their relationships; they may be clingy, needy or hypersensitive to any changes in their partner. This anxiety may drive loved ones away, thus becoming a bit of a “self-fulfilling prophecy” of abandonment.

Adult Trauma Disorders and Recovery from Trauma

Trauma that occurs in adulthood can also change attachment styles, because trauma impacts the way we see the world as a whole. Often, intimate partners, spouses and family members witness the most intense effects of an individual’s trauma. It can be frightening, confusing and difficult to witness the effects of trauma in a loved one.

Spouses and partners can also experience emotional after-effects of trauma together. Those partners who experience trauma at the same time may cope with the trauma in different ways, and those coping skills may strengthen or destroy relationships.

The good news is that it is very possible for spouses or families to grow closer and stronger after trauma. Family members who are educated about trauma often see better outcomes for themselves and their loved ones.7That is why it is absolutely imperative to seek supportive treatment for the effects of trauma

Things to expect from your first counselling or therapy session

A counselling session is meant to help a person with certain mental or emotional problems and giving them advice and suggestions on how to cope up with them. Counselling is done primarily for the purpose of solving issues related to mental health . Major issues that have become common today are depression , anxiety , bipolar disorder and trauma which can even lead to an outcome as drastic as suicide.
Therapy can prove to be a very effective solution for such mental issues . There are many types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy , psychoanalytic therapy , exposure therapy etc. Talking to a psychologist or doing some activities as directed by them can make changes in your overall mental and emotional health. You should choose your therapist according to your needs and convenience , for example if a girl feels more comfortable in sharing her experience with a woman then she can choose a female therapist .

When you sit for your first counselling session , there are some things which you can expect to happen . First of all , you may feel overwhelmed while sharing your experience with the therapist and it is totally normal . If you feel like crying , then you should cry . There is no need to hold back as you are sitting in the therapy to solve your problems . Giving an honest and true account of your feelings and emotions is important.

Your first session is not the only session you are going to sit for , there will be many in the coming future. So dont expect big results from your first experience . A mental issue that has developed over years or months needs time . Change will happen slowly and it will take some time to again start feeling better.

You should try sharing maximum with your therapist . Dont try to hide anything unless and until it is really something that you dont want anyone to know. There is no need to feel ashamed or judged as everyone makes mistakes . Make full use of your space and be comfortable before your start interaction . The therapist is not sitting there to judge you or punish you.

At some stage you may feel that sitting for the session was probably a mistake or you should not have done this . Remember you must have come for counselling only after feeling that there is no other option. If you feel that your therapist is not able to understand you appropriately or you dont feel that you struck a vibe or rythm with them , then you can very well change your therapist. You are not supposed to proceed if you dont feel so.

Your first session may be a little overbearing and can leave you feel light headed at the same time. You may feel guilt , remorse , anger or irritation while interacting and calm , relaxed and peaceful after the session.

Overall , your first counselling session is supposed to set you on a path to recovery from a mental issue. Dont be nervous or afraid as it is not an examination or a test . One thing that you can do to avoid being a little spontaneous during the session is to plan what you want to say and how you to say that. Planning will aid you in sharing your experience in a systematic manner . Take your time to plan and try to stick to your plan. So psych yourself up and All the very best to you for your first session !

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is a serious crime in a household setting. Such crimes are a part of every society of the world. Spouse, children, elderly people are the victims in domestic violence. Domestic Violence can take place in the form of physical, mental, emotional, verbal abuse.

With every passing year, cases of domestic violence has been increasing rapidly. A significant number of deaths are taking place on an everyday basis due to domestic violence. Illiteracy, economic dependency, alcoholism etc are the main reasons behind domestic violence. Although many cases of domestic violence comes to light every year yet a huge number of cases goes unnoticed and unregistered.

Dowry is one of the main reason behind domestic violence. The groom and his family pressurise the bride and her family for money and other expensive things. If the family of the bride fails to fulfill the demands of the groom, the bride gets assaulted by her husband and her in – laws. Not only the newly married women but women married for several years too face violence from their in – laws. These women gets robbed of even their basic human rights and lead an unfortunate life.

In many of the cases, the abuser is psychotic and requires counselling. Besides the abuser, the people who are the mute spectators of domestic violence are equally responsible for the crime. To cope with the growing cases of domestic violence, India launched a campaign called ‘Bell Bajao’ with the motivation to raise voice against domestic violence happening around in the society.

The Government of India enforced many Domestic Violence Acts. In Section 498 – A of Indian Penal Code, rules and regulations have been mentioned. Law deals with the culprits strictly.

Making laws to deal with such violence is undoubtedly necessary but it is not enough. People will have to awake from their slumber and become aware. Every human being deserves honour and respect and it is high time for people to raise their voice to protest against the wrongful activities happening to self and others. Domestic Violence is a serious offence and has to be dealt with strongly.

CONVERSION THERAPY.

Conversion therapy might be a new term for some of them. So, let us get started by knowing what conversion therapy is exactly about. It is a scientific practice of changing an individual’s sexual orientation from homosexual, bisexual to heterosexual. It is done by using psychological, physical, or spiritual interventions. Conversion therapy is a serious offense to an individual with different sex identities, although it is said that there is no evidence of changing one’s sex orientation via conversion therapy. Medical Institute itself declared that performing this task is inappropriate, not healthy, and is harmful in means of mental health.

Many countries like parts of Australia, Canada, Malta, Mexico, etc have banned these foul practices. In Germany, those below 18 aren’t allowed to have this kind of therapy session. 20 US states have also banned it. It is said that the LGBTQ community is treated like this because it is some sort of mental disorder a person is going through.
Transgender who had undergone these wild, unethical practices of gender conversion therapy is more often attempt suicide.

Techniques of changing an individual’s orientation can he worse from talking therapies through to aversion technique. Such as electroshocks, injecting chemicals, and dedication treatments. The report says that there are approx 22,715 transgender adults who live in the US, the report is from 2015. They lived across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and US Military overseas. On the contrary, they were around the age of 31 and 42.8 percent were assigned male at birth. Into that, 14 percent were been exposed to conversion therapy. Undergoing therapies, likely place a person under a lot of stress by worsening how society makes them feel about their gender equality.

As I wrote gender inequality in my previous article, this therapy would come under the causes and why people have such type of mindset, and why aren’t we developing on this gender-equality thing. India itself is facing major backlash from its LGBTQ community people over the use of conversion therapy.
Last year in May, there was a tragic incident happened in goa. Anjana Harish, a 21-year-old bisexual woman in his, took her life. She posted an online video before her suicide describing herself, she was given 40 injections, and used to be locked in a cell which left her traumatized. This is how she was subjected to conversion therapy in Kerala, which is also her home state. Her family forced her to be in this therapy to become heterosexual. This incident led activists to call for an urgent ban on these unethical practices.

This kind of action just makes this community very uncomfortable. Spreading awareness should be made more normalise, as its high time we accept the fact that homosexuality or queerness is not a mental disorder, in fact it is normal.

J. K Rowling

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Harry Potter series. However, I’m guessing that the most of you haven’t heard of J.K Rowling. If you’re wondering who she is, she’s the woman behind the world’s most successful bestseller series. This remarkable woman is motivating and extraordinary in every way. Rowling’s triumph is one of the most exhilarating, but it wasn’t always smooth sailing. Few people know what happened to her before she became famous.

Rowling, a master storyteller, has struggled with personal issues ranging from financial difficulties to melancholy on her path to literary achievement.

J.K. Rowling, the author whose Harry Potter book series has been translated into 73 languages, sold millions of copies, and earned over $20 billion in movie adaptations and sponsorships, said as much. So, why is it that she admits to being a failure? It wasn’t as simple as scribbling notes on a couple dinner napkins to come up with her book series. It wasn’t a simple one-step, two-step, or even three-step procedure. Years of dedication would be required to achieve the level of success she now enjoys.

It is stated that true success follows a series of setbacks. This is precisely what happened to Rowling. Her personal life was in disarray, making each day difficult for her. On a train voyage from Manchester to London one fine morning in 1990, she created the complete plot from an idea and began building the story of Harry Potter on that route. Unfortunately, her mother died later that year, putting a stop to her writing for a while. Rowling began writing soon after developing the concept for Harry Potter, but was abruptly distracted by the tragic death of her mother. Rowling stopped working on the novel and went into a deep, depressed state. When she moved to Portugal in 1992 to teach English as a foreign language, her life had other intentions. She met, married, and had a daughter with him. A year later, she divorced her then-husband and filed for divorce.

This was the turning point in her life, when she relocated to Edinburgh, Scotland, with her infant daughter to be closer to her sister, with three chapters of Harry Potter in her suitcase. Rowling was divorced, jobless, and a single mother of a child at the time, and it was the most trying time of her life. She struggled with acute depression, yet she persisted. She discovered the light at the end of the tunnel when life was dark and dreary, always pushing through the trials and tribulations life threw at her.

Rowling’s life was defined in so many ways by the year 1995. The Harry Potter script was rejected by roughly 12 prominent publications, not one, two, or five. She had been shattered, but she had not been vanquished. She continued to pursue more newspapers, and her efforts were rewarded. The book was accepted for publication by a small publishing house, and only 1000 copies were printed. Things changed quickly after the book won several accolades, including the Nestle Smarties Book Prize and the British Book Award for Children’s Book of the Year.

J.K Rowling’s most important lesson is to keep trying, believing, and acting on your dreams. Whether it’s to become a great business or to publish a novel, there’s something for everyone.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

There are some set of skills, apart from the technical skills people need to learn and impart, in order to fit or adjust themselves in the corporate environment. Emotional intelligence (EI), also known as Emotional Quotient (EQ) is one of the basic skills to work and grow in the corporate world. Emotions can be defined as the spirit or breath of life.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify, use, understand and manage emotions in a positive way. If you have a high EQ, you are able to recognize your own emotional state and the emotional states of others and engage with people in a way, that draws them to you. You can use this understanding of emotions to relate better to other people, form healthier relationships, achieve greater success at work and lead a more fulfilling life.

Five attributes of EQ.

Self Awareness – It helps people to understand their emotions and they don’t let their feelings to rule them.
Motivation – People with a high EQ are usually motivated.
Empathy – Empathetic people are usually excellent at managing relationships.
Social Awareness – Through social awareness, a person feels comfortable socially. It helps to recognize the power dynamics in an organization.
Self Regulation – It is the ability to control emotions and impulses.

EQ can help you navigate the social complexities of the work place, lead and motivate others and excel in your carrier. If you are unable to manage your stress levels, it can lead to serious health problems. Uncontrolled stress can also Impact your mental health, making you vulnerable to anxiety and depression. Understanding and controlling emotions allow you to communicate more effectively and to build stronger relationship both at work and in your personal life.

How to improve organizational EQ ?

Employees develop their own EQ. They have to seek support when needed and have to be more open and cooperative. Leaders should encourage the expression of feelings and foster a positive emotional climate. They should follow an open door policy by developing their own EQ. The organization should integrate EQ in training programs and should try to include EQ evaluation in recruitment process.

IQ, or intelligence quotient, is a measure of your ability to reason and solve problems. It is not enough to be successful in life. In general, thinking fast and coming up with unique solutions to tough problems seems to be aided by having a high IQ. But really, consider most business problems such as needing to develop an effective marketing campaign or figuring out how to distribute a product. Solving problems such as these does not typically require a PhD, Instead, it requires motivating people, getting the right information out of the right people, building alignment, and effective communication. So people need both these factors to be successful.

Music

Music is a pleasant sound which is a combination of melodies and harmony and which soothes you. Music may also refer to the art of composing such pleasant sounds with the help of the various musical instruments. A person who knows music is a musician. The music consists of Sargam, Ragas, Taals etc. The music is not only what is composed of men but also which exists in nature. Have you heard the sound of a waterfall or a flowering river? Could you hear music there? Thus, everything in harmony has music. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the greatest musicians, quoted “The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between”.

Importance of music

Music has great qualities of healing a person emotionally and mentally. Music is a form of meditation. While composing or listening music one tends to forget all his/her worries, sorrows and pains. But, in order to appreciate good music, we need to cultivate our musical taste. It can be cited that in the Dwapar Yug, the Gopis would get mesmerized with the music that flowed from Lord Krishna’s flute. They would surrender themselves to Him. Also, the research has proved that the plants which hear the music grow at a faster rate in comparison to the others.

Magical powers of music

It has a power to cure diseases such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc. The power of music can be testified by the legends about Tansen of his bringing the rains by singing Raag Megh Malhar and lighting lamps by Raga Deepak. It also helps in improving the concentration and is thus of great help to the students.

Music and brain health

Music seems to find re-routed paths and that is why it is such a useful tool in terms of helping people with different kinds of brain damage because it can help find new pathways in terms of brain functioning. Th reward system of the brain is highly associated with music. One specific rain formation. known as the striatum discharges substance called Dopamine in reaction to pleasure-related stimulating elements. The processing of music in the brain is done differently, than any other stimulating elements making it important for researchers to understand the effects of music on the brain.

Music therapy

Music therapy an allied health profession, is the clinical and evidence-based use ofmusic interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Well, both those films were shot at this pristine blue lake with the stunning backdrop of magnificent mountains in Ladakh. These two movies put this beautiful place on the map of travellers once again. Of course, we’re guessing by the time this pandemic is over and free-flow travel returns, China will also be done with its mischiefs in the area. Shimla

Shimla and Mall Road have been a favourite among tourists for many decades now. But Bollywood made this familiar-looking hill station a favourite among Instagram-hungry travelers. This city situated on the Himalayan foothills makes appearances in films like Bang Bang, Jab We Met and 3 Idiots.

Gulmarg

Bollywood’s love affair with Kashmir started a long time ago, when Shammi Kapoor showed us a glimpse of the green meadows and snow-capped mountains. However, recently, other Bollywood films that showed the beauty of this paradise on earth were Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Highway, Haider, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Though YJHD presented Gulmarg as Manali, the Valley’s beauty lured tourists to witness its majestic and pristine mountains.

Manali

Though Manali was always a popular tourist spot, it became popular after the famous Hadimba temple made an appearance in Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The town saw a boost in tourism after the film, as young Bollywood buffs escaped the city madness to visit this backpacking site.

Goa

A list talking about the attractions which were made popular by Bollywood is never complete without Goa. Dil Chahta Hai made Goa the quintessential dream goal of every young millennial. After that, several other films were shot in the state, some of them being Socha Na Tha, Simmba, Dilwale, Drishyam… the list is endless. The best way to make the most of Goa is to hire a scooter and just explore. And in case you want to experience the less travelled places, visit the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, Galgibaga Beach, Hollant Beach, Harvalem Falls and more. We don’t know if your trip will materialise after the pandemic, but one can always hope.

Udaipur

The royalty and the grandeur of Udaipur’s havelis have been very well captured by Bollywood filmmakers on celluloid. This scenic lake city made a grand appearance in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela and is worth a visit. It is worth immersing yourself in the culture of this gorgeous city. So, when this pandemic is over, pick a weekend and hire a scooter as you go around just enjoying the cuisine, the art and the people.

The lush tea gardens, the snow-capped mountains, the quaint architecture and the warm hospitality of its people make Darjeeling a place you would keep wanting to return to.

So, which destination are you visiting when this pandemic is over?

Technology and the Environment

How technology can play a role with respect to the environment:

The development of various types of technology in today’s time has given rise to more convenience and efficiency. Technology can be used to properly understand and address important challenges like climate change, degradation of the environment, scarcity of food, management of waste, along with other important global issues and challenges. Data can be consolidated and stored in various information systems online in the form of comprehensive portals. These portals can then be accessed by academicians, scientists, students, environmentalists, and anyone else as they need it. These expansive databases can cover a variety of areas such as wildlife conservation databases, marine flora databases, forest cover databases and the like.

A few technology systems which can be used for the betterment of the environment are:

  • Remote Sensing
  • Google Earth
  • Geographical Information System (GIS)
  • The World Wide Web
  • The database ENVIS: Environmental Information System

Remote Sensing

Remote sensing

Remote Sensing refers to obtaining information of a place from a distance. In this process, the physical characteristics of an area are detected and further monitored through the measurement of its reflected and emitted radiation. This is carried out with the help of remote sensors on satellites. A few applications of remote sensing are:

  • Finding out temperature changes in the ocean and air
  • Tracking changes in forested land
  • Making weather predictions

Google Earth

Google Earth

Google Earth is a map which gives three-dimensional views of the earth with the assistance of satellite imaging and other types of aerially conducted photography. Presently, Google Earth covers around 98% of the earth’s surface. Google earth doesn’t just cover land but also water. Through the use of Google Earth, it is possible to view below the surface of marine bodies and view the ocean floor by the method of bathymetry (study of the underwater depth of an ocean or lake floor).

Geographical Information System (GIS)

Geographical Information System (GIS)

The Geographical Information System is a spatial system which creates, manages, analyzes, organizes and maps different types of geographic data. Using the GIS software, it is possible to visually analyze a large volume of data. Through the usage of GIS, it is possible to bring together and integrate information from varying sources of information and have efficient data distribution and management. It can be used efficiently for Environmental Impact Assessment.

The World Wide Web (WWW)

World Wide Web (WWW)

The WWW is a collection of many electronic documents of varying types. It provides various types of resources about the environment, from journal reports and articles to animations and is available to a wide variety of people, right from students, to scientists to government officials. It provides, free, convenient, accessible, evolving and the latest information.

Database: ENVIS

ENVIS

ENVIS is a database known as the Environmental Information System. It was created by the Indian Ministry of Environment & Forests in 1983. Its goal is to collect environmental information, along with its subsequent organization, storage, recovery and distribution. The role of ENVIS is to provide people like policy makers, researchers and the like with environmental information.
