Can Germany Be Held Responsible For Causing The Two World Wars?

The two World Wars are arguably the most catastrophic events in modern history. Millions of people lost their lives, and countless others were affected in unimaginable ways. As such, it is natural for people to seek answers as to what caused these wars. One of the most commonly discussed factors is the role of Germany. Many people believe that Germany, specifically the German government, was primarily responsible for causing both World Wars. However, this is a complex issue that requires careful analysis.

A painting depicting the plight of thousands of martyrs during World War 1

To begin with, it is important to acknowledge that Germany played a significant role in both World Wars. In the case of World War I, Germany was one of the main instigators of the conflict. The country’s aggressive foreign policy, particularly its support for Austria-Hungary in the aftermath of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, helped to spark the war. Additionally, Germany’s invasion of Belgium and its use of unrestricted submarine warfare were significant factors in the escalation of the conflict.

The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

In the case of World War II, Germany was once again a major player. The country’s invasion of Poland in 1939, which led to the formal declaration of war by Britain and France, marked the beginning of the conflict. Additionally, Germany’s aggressive expansionist policies in Europe, as well as its alliance with Italy and Japan, contributed to the outbreak of war.

However, it is important to recognize that Germany was not the only country involved in these conflicts. Other nations, such as Britain, France, Russia, and the United States, also played important roles. Furthermore, the causes of the two World Wars were multifaceted and involved numerous political, economic, and social factors.

The Allied Forces and the Axis Forces during World

In the case of World War I, for example, the complex system of alliances between European nations, the arms race, and the competition for colonial territories all contributed to the outbreak of war. Similarly, in the case of World War II, the Treaty of Versailles, which imposed harsh economic sanctions on Germany after World War I, and the rise of fascist regimes in Italy and Japan, were significant factors.

Paris peace conference and the signing of the treaty of Versailles.

It is also important to acknowledge that not all Germans were responsible for causing the two World Wars. While the German government and military leadership played a significant role in both conflicts, many ordinary Germans were also victims of the wars. Millions of German civilians were killed or displaced during both World Wars, and many others were conscripted into the military against their will.

In conclusion, while Germany certainly played a significant role in causing the two World Wars, it is important to avoid simplistic explanations that assign all responsibility to a single country. The causes of these conflicts were complex and multifaceted and involved numerous political, economic, and social factors. Furthermore, it is important to acknowledge that many ordinary Germans were also victims of the wars. Ultimately, understanding the causes of the two World Wars requires a nuanced and comprehensive approach that takes into account the actions of all nations involved.

“Latecomer” Industrial revolution in Japan involved certain factors that were markedly different from what the west had experienced.

The industrial revolution that swept across Europe and America in the 18th and 19th centuries is often considered the most significant event in human history since the Agricultural Revolution. It transformed the world from an agricultural to an industrial society and laid the foundations for modern economic growth. However, the industrial revolution in Japan was unique and involved certain factors that were markedly different from what the West had experienced. This article will examine these factors and discuss how they contributed to Japan’s “latecomer” industrial revolution.

Latecomer in Industrial Revolution: Japan

Japan’s Industrial Revolution: A Late Bloomer

Japan’s industrial revolution came relatively late in comparison to the West. While the industrial revolution began in Britain in the late 18th century and spread to other parts of Europe and America in the 19th century, Japan’s industrialization began in the late 19th century, after the country had been forced to open up to foreign trade following its defeat in the First Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895) and the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). The Japanese government recognized the importance of industrialization in strengthening the country’s economy and military power and embarked on a policy of rapid modernization and industrialization, known as the Meiji Restoration.

First Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895)

Unlike the West, which had a long history of technological innovation and scientific discovery, Japan had been largely isolated from the rest of the world until the mid-19th century. The country had no significant industrial base and relied heavily on agriculture and handicrafts. However, the Meiji government was determined to catch up with the West and implemented a range of policies to promote industrialization.

Unique Factors Contributing to Japan’s Industrialization:

1. Confucianism and Samurai Culture:

One of the factors that contributed to Japan’s industrialization was the influence of Confucianism and Samurai culture. Confucianism emphasized the importance of education and hard work, and this attitude was ingrained in the Samurai culture. Samurai were trained to be disciplined and dedicated, and they were expected to work hard and show loyalty to their lords. This work ethic was a key factor in Japan’s industrialization, as workers were willing to put in long hours and work hard to achieve the country’s industrial goals.

2. Strong Government Involvement:

Another unique factor that contributed to Japan’s industrialization was the strong involvement of the government. The Meiji government implemented a range of policies to promote industrialization, including building infrastructure such as railways and ports, providing subsidies and tax breaks to encourage investment, and setting up state-owned industries. The government also invested heavily in education and research, establishing universities and research institutions to train scientists and engineers.

Meiji Government

Emphasis on Technological Transfer:

Unlike the West, which relied on indigenous innovation, Japan’s industrialization was largely based on the transfer of technology from the West. The Meiji government sent students and scholars to study in Europe and America, and imported machinery and equipment to set up factories. Japanese engineers and technicians were also sent to the West to learn about the latest technologies and manufacturing methods. This emphasis on technological transfer enabled Japan to quickly acquire the skills and knowledge needed to build a modern industrial economy.

4. Unique Relationship between the Government and Private Sector:

Another factor that contributed to Japan’s industrialization was the unique relationship between the government and the private sector. Unlike in the West, where the government and the private sector were largely separate, the Japanese government actively encouraged the private sector to invest in industrial development. The government provided financial support, such as subsidies and tax breaks, to private companies, and also established a range of industry associations to promote cooperation between companies and encourage the sharing of knowledge and expertise.

Impact of Japan’s Industrial Revolution:

The impact of Japan’s industrial revolution was significant, both for Japan and for the world. It transformed Japan from an agrarian society into a modern industrial nation and set the stage for Japan’s emergence as a major economic power in the 20th century.

  1. Economic Growth

Japan’s industrial revolution led to rapid economic growth and the development of a modern industrial economy. The country became a major producer and exporter of manufactured goods, including textiles, steel, machinery, and electronics. This economic growth fueled Japan’s rise as a major economic power and allowed it to compete on a global scale.

  1. Military Expansion

Japan’s industrial revolution also had significant implications for its military expansion. The country’s rapid industrialization allowed it to modernize its military and build a powerful navy and army. Japan’s military expansion was a key factor in its emergence as a major power in Asia and its eventual involvement in World War II.

  1. Social and Cultural Changes

The industrial revolution also brought about significant social and cultural changes in Japan. The shift from an agrarian to an industrial society led to the growth of urban areas and the emergence of a new middle class. New social and cultural norms emerged, including a greater emphasis on education and individualism.

  1. Global Influence

Japan’s industrial revolution had a significant impact on the rest of the world as well. The country’s success in industrialization inspired other countries in Asia and beyond to follow a similar path. Japan’s technological advancements in fields such as electronics and automobiles also had a global impact, with Japanese companies such as Sony, Toyota, and Honda becoming household names around the world.

  1. Environmental Impact

However, rapid industrialization in Japan also had negative environmental consequences. The heavy use of natural resources and the rapid expansion of industrial infrastructure led to pollution and environmental degradation. The environmental impact of Japan’s industrial revolution is still felt today, and the country has since made efforts to reduce its carbon emissions and promote sustainable development.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Japan’s “Latecomer” Industrial Revolution was a remarkable achievement that propelled the country from a feudal society to a modern industrial nation. The factors that drove Japan’s industrialization, including government-led economic policies, social and cultural changes, and unique geopolitical circumstances, were markedly different from the experience of the West. Japan’s industrial revolution had far-reaching impacts on its economy, military, society, and global community. It serves as a reminder that innovation and progress can emerge from unexpected places and circumstances, and that every nation has the potential to forge its own path toward development and prosperity.

Exploration and Evaluation of the impact of “Work From Home” on Family Relationships

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we work and live. We are now transitioning from traditional office hours to a new work-from-home culture. As companies grapple with the challenges of social distancing, they’re increasingly focusing on telecommuting and remote working. This is the new normal in the workplace, and it’s bringing with it many benefits.

For one, remote working eliminates the need for costly office space and commuting for employees. This can help companies save a significant amount of money, especially in big cities with high rent costs. It also allows employees to work from any location, giving them the flexibility to work from home, a vacation spot, or even a coffee shop.

Remote working also allows employees to better manage their own work-life balance. This can decrease levels of stress and fatigue, thereby increasing job performance and productivity. Even though it may be hard for some people to focus without the structure of an office environment, many more individuals find that the flexibility of remote working is beneficial to them.

Companies are also finding that allowing employees to work from home can have positive effects on office morale. With fewer distractions and more focused work, teams are able to collaborate more quickly and easily. This can lead to higher employee satisfaction and improved customer service.

The transition to work from home is an opportunity to re-evaluate the way we work and live. With the right tools and strategies, companies and employees can take advantage of the many benefits remote working offers. As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, this will likely be the new normal in the workplace.

Positive Impacts

  1. Increased Family Time: One of the most significant benefits of WFH is the increased amount of time that families can spend together. With the elimination of commutes, families can enjoy a more relaxed schedule and spend more quality time with each other.
  2. Improved Work-Life Balance: WFH allows individuals to balance their work and personal life more effectively. They can take care of household chores and attend to personal errands during the day, reducing stress and increasing overall satisfaction with their work-life balance.
  3. More Flexibility: WFH provides individuals with the flexibility to work from anywhere, at any time. This allows for a more relaxed and flexible schedule, leading to a reduced sense of stress and increased happiness.

Negative Impacts

  1. Increased Stress: While WFH has its benefits, it can also lead to increased stress. The boundaries between work and personal life can become blurred, leading to longer work hours and increased pressure to be available at all times.
  2. Decreased Quality of Family Time: While WFH allows for increased family time, it can also lead to decreased quality of that time. With work constantly in the background, it can be difficult for individuals to fully disconnect and enjoy quality time with their families.
  3. Isolation and Loneliness: WFH can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness, especially for those who are used to working in a social environment. The lack of face-to-face interactions with colleagues and clients can be detrimental to mental health and overall well-being.

Conclusion

WFH has had a significant impact on family relationships, with both positive and negative consequences. While it has allowed for increased family time and improved work-life balance, it has also resulted in increased stress, decreased quality of family time, and feelings of isolation and loneliness. It is important for individuals to find a balance between work and personal life, setting clear boundaries and prioritizing their mental health and well-being. Overall, the impact of WFH on family relationships is complex and varied, and it is up to each individual to make the best of the situation and find a balance that works for them and their family.

Nature of Bhakti Literature and its contribution to Indian Culture

Before we begin with understanding this topic, we must first gain insights into what “Bhakti/Bhakti Literature” actually means. “Bhakti” is a Sanskrit word that translates to “devotion” or “devoted worship” in English. Bhakti Literature refers to a genre of Indian devotional literature that emerged in the medieval period, from the 6th to the 18th centuries. The nature of Bhakti Literature is characterized by its focus on devotion to a personal deity and its emphasis on the experience of divine love. This genre of literature is also known for its emotional intensity and its emphasis on the devotion of the devotee to the deity.

Bhakti Literature has its roots in the Bhakti movement, which was a spiritual revival movement that spread across India in the medieval period. The movement was characterized by its focus on the personal devotion of the individual to the deity, as opposed to the ritualistic worship that was prevalent in the Hindu religion at the time. The Bhakti movement was a response to the societal and religious tensions that existed in medieval India and was a way for people to express their devotion to a higher power in a way that was meaningful to them.

The Bhakti movement had a profound impact on Indian culture and society, and Bhakti Literature played a significant role in this. Bhakti Literature was written in a variety of regional languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Sanskrit, making it accessible to a wide range of people. The accessibility allowed the Bhakti message of devotion and love to reach a large audience, and it helped to spread the Bhakti movement throughout India.

Manuscript by Sankaradeva in Assamese

One of the key contributions of Bhakti Literature to Indian culture is its emphasis on the devotional experience. Bhakti Literature is filled with stories and poems that describe the intense love and devotion that the devotee feels for the deity. This focus on the devotional experience helped to bring a more personal and emotional aspect to Hindu worship, and it allowed people to connect with the deity on a deeper level. The devotional experience that is described in Bhakti Literature also had a profound impact on the way that people viewed the deity, and it helped to promote the idea that the deity was approachable and compassionate.

Bhakti Literature also played a role in promoting the idea of equality and inclusiveness in Indian society. The Bhakti movement was inclusive of people from all castes and social classes, and Bhakti Literature reflected this. The literature often featured stories of devotees from all walks of life, and it emphasized the idea that devotion to the deity was available to everyone, regardless of their social status or background. This emphasis on inclusiveness helped to challenge the caste system that was prevalent in India at the time and helped to promote the idea of equality.

Another important contribution of Bhakti Literature to Indian culture is its influence on the arts. Bhakti Literature was often accompanied by music, and it played a role in the development of devotional music in India. Bhakti Literature also influenced visual arts and many paintings and sculptures from the medieval period depict scenes from Bhakti Literature. The impact of Bhakti Literature on the arts helped to spread the Bhakti message and to bring the devotional experience to life for those who were not able to read the literature themselves.

Finally, Bhakti Literature has had a lasting impact on Indian Literature as a whole. Bhakti Literature was written in a variety of regional languages, and it helped to preserve and promote these languages. Additionally, Bhakti Literature has inspired countless other works of literature and has helped to shape the way that people view love and devotion.

To conclude, Bhakti Literature is a genre of Indian devotional literature that emerged in the medieval period.

Imagine waking up to see a day where you are denied using the cafeteria of the college or denied using the vending machine in the office because of your race or your caste, it would probably be the most horrible day of your life. To make sure that these things never happen to you, a lot of people fought and gave their lives to make sure that the future society is egalitarian. Fundamental rights ensure that you have the liberty to do what you want to do, how you want to do it and where you want to do it. You have the right to equality in a consumer market, in your workplace and in the social places you visit. You have the freedom of speech to voice your opinion wherever you feel it’s needed. Without fundamental rights, everything will be in a state of chaos

These are the basic rights that help the human being reach his maximum intellect and intelligence. Our rights ensure that we are governed by a law which respects our human rights. It ensures that the government stays well within their limits and cannot compromise the dignity of any human being whatsoever. We as human beings need a certain environment to achieve our intelligence and find ourselves. Fundamental Rights tries to ensure that we get that environment. The highlights of the preamble are justice, liberty, fraternity and republic. Dr B R Ambedkar and a lot of other people saw a dream in which every Indian citizen should be equal before the law. When we look back at the colonial period, Our society was segregated into different parts because there was no sense of unity among people. This led to isolation from each other. This environment led us to disarray. To make sure a healthy relationship between the state and the people, fundamental rights play a huge part as it ensures freedom of speech which leads to better communication. Fundamental rights also ensure that society is always progressive because it promotes growth and stimulation. Our constitution is designed in such a way that it supports flexibility but that does not put our fundamental rights in threat in any way. It is the backbone of our country or any country.

Inculcating Stoicism in your life

Stoicism is a philosophy founded by the Zeno of Citium in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. According to this school of philosophy, there are two factors. The internal world and the external world. The internal world contains emotions, reactions, behaviour and all the things that a human being controls. The external world is wealth, status, validation etc. Stoicism describes wealth as neither good nor bad. Although a human being should always live a life of modesty and should not pay much attention to the external world. We do not control what happens in the external control but we do control our actions and our reaction toward the external world. We should build such a mindset where the external world doesn’t have an overwhelming effect on us.

In today’s generation, everyone’s life is a busy one. No one has the time to be free and reconnect with themselves. This makes us lose touch with ourselves. This is how the world moves. We are controlled by the external narrative and are always chasing some illusionary goal that we think will give us all the joy and happiness needed in life. We’re all chasing one thing or the other. But stoicism has always said that no material thing in the external world can attain happiness. You always have to look within. Bureaucracy makes us a slave to the external world and we do not break the pattern until we are dead.

Stoicism teaches us to take control of our lives. It tells us not to be controlled by the greed of wealth and status. It encourages us to find ourselves. You can inculcate stoicism in your life by getting across some of the stoic readings. Marcus Aurelius was a believer In stoicism. He was probably the richest man when he existed. He was still believed to live a modest life and people around him worshipped his virtue. One has to grasp an understanding of the world he lives in and more importantly they have to grasp an understanding of themselves. Stoicism encourages independence in thinking. It makes us see what really exists.

Personally, stoicism gave me an understanding of what the external world is. I came across it when I was 16 years old. I was very materialistic as a kid. I used to seek joy in buying all the gadgets that I wanted. There were times when I used to feel hollow but I never really knew what it was and why do I feel that? Stoicism made me understand that void. The void had been created due to the lack of real value in my life. I realised it and started studying stoicism. With time, my understanding of the world got better. Sometimes it makes me laugh how unconcerned I was. We all get lost in our lives sometimes. The games that we make for ourselves can sometimes trap us. But a true human being will always find a way to see through the fake and embrace reality.

The Christian,Muslim conundrum

Credits-peakpx

I sat with my friend clive to know more about his culture. He told me how he was brought up to be a Christian and what were his values. He used to go to church every morning. Then we discussed if he has ever faced discrimination due to his religion. He didn’t feel that he has experienced discrimination. I also asked my Muslim friends if they’ve had any such experiences. They also felt the same way.

All of the people that I interviewed are from a well-to-do backgrounds. This makes me come to my next observation. Are people discriminated against because of their religion or because they belong from a not so well to do background? If you see in our society, Muslim or Christian people who have money don’t have to go through the religious stigma that other people go through. For example, a poor Muslim might have to go through a lot of discrimination as compared to a well-to-do Muslim. In today’s world if you are rich then you’re a powerful man.

Credits- gettyimages

I also had the opportunity of meeting a Muslim boy who was not very well-to-do. He told me that in his school, people were always given an opportunity before him. He was the last boy to be considered for every activity and he feels it’s because of his religion. I am not trying to make a stupid assumption but I feel this has some truth to it. In today’s world, if you belong to the higher class of society, you are likely to not go through any hardships due to your religion. Although, that is not completely true because there have been a lot of events where people were either kicked out or denied to take property at a certain place.

This activity led me to discover a lot of insights into the religious stigma that exists around me. I’d encourage everyone to go and ask people from vulnerable backgrounds about their lives. It serves two purposes. They get to share their sorrows and you become more informed about the situation of the matter.

Trying to make sense of virat’s lacklustre form.

Virat Kohli has found life to be tough over the last 3 years or so. His form has dipped massively. He’s clearly not the same batter right now as we know him to be. There is nothing wrong with his technique in particular. There are some areas for improvement but that is a natural progression for any batsmen. He recently gave up captaincy of all formats. He also gave up his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captaincy. There has been a lot going on around him. I’ll try to breakdown his game plan in each format of the game.

Virat’s problem in T20 cricket has been his low striking ability against spin. We’ve often seen him struggling against spin in the middle overs failing to find boundaries and sometimes even struggling to rotate strike which has been his biggest strength for a long time. He tries to compensate for his limitations with spin bowling by being extra aggressive against pace. He has a strike rate of 145 inside the powerplay. Although, it dropped down to 90 in the middle overs during IPL 2021. This year’s IPL was Virat’s most forgettable season of all time. He averaged an abysmal 22.5 per innings with a strike rate of 115. This is very unlike Kohli. He just looked overcooked and completely out of his fluent touch this season.

He hasn’t played a lot of ODI cricket in the last few years and I believe this is the format that will help him get back into form. India plays England today at the oval. There are reports that he might not play today due to a groin strain. But, I hope that he plays today because he should use every opportunity that he has to get back to form. In ODI cricket, there is no added pressure to increase the run rate and the ball also doesn’t do much in the middle overs. Thus, this format is his best chance to get back to form. He can rotate the strike in the middle overs and extend his innings till the death overs to attack as he has done so many times.

Virat Kohli is a true ambassador of test cricket. He is the most successful test captain of India in so many ways. He made India successful in overseas conditions. India developed their best pace attacks in ages during his reign. His test form recently has been a disappointment. I believe, his main problem in test cricket has been a lack of scoring areas. If you look at some of the centuries that have been scored by Indians in test cricket have been attacking innings. They had to take the attacking option at some point in the game. While Virat has shown immense discipline and exemplary technique in the last few years. He played an exceptional innings of 79 runs against South Africa in the last test of the series. His problem has been a lack of scoring phases in his innings. He has to find more scoring options in test cricket. Because with the kind of quality test sides have in their bowling, you can’t just play the waiting game. You have to attack at some point.

Virat Kohli is already a legend. He has achieved everything that he can possibly dream of. Although, for him to get back to form now. He has to play one-day internationals. We all hope to see the best batsmen we’ve possibly ever witnessed get back to form.

Save Electricity

Electricity is an important source of prosperity. It permeates our daily lives. Life without electricity would be impossible to imagine now. We generate electricity using coal or natural gas. However, people do not see the natural resources to act as limited and non-renewable. We need to save electricity so that we can save these resources.

In other words, electricity serves humanity very much. We must stop wasting energy. The earth will lose its light if there is no electricity. In addition, careless human behavior should be examined. We must understand the importance of electricity in order to save ourselves from the darkness.

The need for electricity
Electricity is needed in almost every area of life now. We need it to live a comfortable life full of all the resources and services. The earth will sleep without electricity. For example, all of our health and education facilities are electrified. If there is no electricity, the surgeon will not be able to perform the operation. In addition, students will not be able to access practical information.

Similarly, car mechanics in garages and factory engineers rely on electricity. In addition, passengers at the train station and at the airport can only travel safely through electricity.

In addition, the various modes of transportation depend on electricity only. Trams and metrics carry thousands of people every day. All of this is happening only because of electricity. Electricity enriches our modern life and helps to make it better.

How to Save Electricity
First of all, we must all understand that even a small step will be very helpful in saving electricity. For example, if everyone in each household turns on a fan when not in use, thousands of watts of electricity can be saved.

Similarly, if we use our air conditioners, heaters, ovens, refrigerators and so on properly, we can save a lot of electricity effectively.

In addition, try to use more natural light. Do not store unnecessary lights in the morning and in the afternoon. Do what is done with natural light as it is enough. We have to replace all our old equipment because it consumes a lot of electricity. In other words, we should strive to make our homes work harder.

In addition, always remember to turn off your electrical gadgets when not in use. These devices use at least 10% of electricity even when not in use. Therefore, take them out to save energy.

In addition, try to reduce the amount of time you spend watching TV. Encourage children to read and play outside instead. Similarly, try using laptops instead of desktops. Desktops use more power than a laptop. You should also turn off the fans when using your air conditioner, thus avoiding unnecessary waste.

Most importantly, installing solar panels can be extremely helpful. They are very economical and help save a lot of energy. Solar panels will help to consume less energy and economically. Similarly, industries that use megawatts should install generators. This can help to get cheap electricity by natural means.

Unity is Power

In today’s world where strife is rampant and everyone tries to get his way, very few people see the value of the proverb ‘Unity is power’. Again, this proverb is now complete in encouraging books and uplifting speeches. Therefore, very few people understand the importance and that is why it applies to their lives. But these people are really satisfied with the content in their lives that they actually use. Therefore, unity is an energy essay to understand the growing importance of unity in the lives of the world today.

This proverb also applies when it comes to relationships. People these days are so blinded by success and power that they want to be ahead of their colleagues, their relatives, and their friends.

So, they get into professional conflicts with themselves most of the time and therefore, they don’t realize that they can’t move forward and improve their skills, their knowledge, and help each other. So, when we argue with our colleagues and start competing with them in an office environment, then people from another group will benefit from this position.

Also, one reason here is that people often split up because of mistrust. This is especially true when it comes to the relationship between husband and wife. Also, here we often see couples always doubting. So they start asking small questions and then doubt them about lying or cheating.

Therefore, outsiders use these types of situations. Also, it breeds doubts and thus creates tension between the two in order to achieve their goals. Also, this will have a negative impact not only on the couple but also on the children. Therefore, if a husband and wife remain united and protect each other unless both of them can make a difference in the relationship.

Application of the Proverb – Unity is Power

The proverb has been used in various places since centuries. It derives its origins from the Dutch Republic where it was first used. Currently, the national military uniform in Haiti and Bulgaria has documented this.

Belgium adopted this as its motto after the 1830 Revolution. Other countries that have used this proverb as their motto in the past include Greece, the Netherlands, Canada, Georgia, the South African Republic, Malaysia and the United States.

In Communities and Nations
This proverb is also true when it comes to society and the nation as a whole. Communities and places where people stay united are loved by everyone.

Therefore, the people who live here meet and greet their neighbors with a smile, guard their neighbor’s house, help each other through difficult times, and so on. Also, they celebrate each activity together and run other social gatherings regularly. In today’s world, it is common for people to suffer from loneliness and depression, and this kind of neighbor can be a blessing.

Similarly, nations around the world are engaged in a vicious war to prove that they are the best. Thus, the entire nation is armed with nuclear weapons and many terrorist organizations have been formed. So, if we stop all these kinds of bad habits than the world becomes a better place to live.

Where There Is a Will, There Is a Way

Where there is a will there is a way in one of the most widely used proverbs to date. This proverb means a lot when we think about it. Its important meaning is that if you set your mind to do something, you can easily do it. In other words, it shows us the importance of the power of the will and how it can bring about change in one’s life. The power of will is the desire to achieve something. If you have the will to do something, then nothing can stop you from doing it. This proverb is applicable in almost every aspect of life. Similarly, it is very important in a variety of ways.

The Importance of the Proverbs – Where There Is a Will, There Is a Way
This proverb is very important in helping people to push their boundaries and achieve their goals more easily. It makes them more determined and focused on achieving their goal. Moreover, this proverb emphasizes the value of hard work and energy.

In other words, people who are willing to take risks, no matter how much they cost, will achieve their goals. If you dream and dream about something and do nothing to achieve it, you may fail and be incompetent. On the other hand, if you work hard to achieve your goals, you can find a way.

So, where there is a book there is a way we teach that we are more focused and work harder. Moreover, it shows us how people who follow this proverb have reached the heights of their lives.

Real-life examples
History proves that humans who had great power would accomplish much good. It stands as proof that no matter how difficult things may have been, these people have not stopped finding their way.

First, we take the example of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This famous figure is a good example of this proverb. Gandhiji was determined to free India from the shackles of British rule, and he did. What made this possible? His will is always strong and diligent. He was very weak physically but his power of will was not there. He chose the path of nonviolence and was able to contribute to the liberation of India. Like him there were many freedom fighters ftom whom you can take inspiration and are a true examplw of this proverb.

Next, we see the same will for iron in Martin Luther King. This man was responsible for bringing civil rights to the black American people. His will and determination to eradicate prejudice have paid off. It taught us that even in prison, he never gave up. He continually fought to achieve his dream.

In short, where there is a will there is a way to teach us a lot about hard work and resilience. If we all follow this saying in our lives and make it our motto, nothing can stop it. It will make us better people and more successful in life.

Climate Change

Climate change refers to the changing global environment. Climate change has become a global concern in the last few decades. Besides, these climate changes are affecting life on earth in a variety of ways. These climate changes have various impacts on the ecosystem and the environment. As a result of this change, many species of plants and animals have become extinct.

When Did It Start?
The climate began to change long ago due to human activities but we finally learned about it a century ago. During the last century, we began to see climate change and its effect on human life. We started researching climate change and finally realized that global temperatures are rising due to the so-called greenhouse effect. Global warming is causing more ozone depletion, affecting agriculture, water supply, transportation, and a host of other problems.

The Reason for Climate Change
Although there are hundreds of reasons for climate change we will discuss natural and man-made (human) causes.

Natural Causes
These include volcanic eruptions, sunlight, tectonic plate movements, orbital diversity. As a result of these activities, the environment becomes very dangerous to life for survival. Also, these activities increase global warming to a great extent causing inequality in the environment.

Personal Reasons
Man because of his need and selfishness has done many works that harm not only the environment but also himself. Many species of plants and animals are disappearing as a result of human activity. Harmful human activities include deforestation, the use of fuel, industrial waste, various forms of pollution, and more. All of these factors adversely affect the climate and the environment. And many species of animals and birds became extinct or almost extinct as a result of hunting.

The Effects of Climate Change
These climate changes are having a devastating effect on the environment. Sea level rises, glaciers melt, CO2 emissions increase, forest and wildlife declines, and water quality is also disrupted by climate change. Besides, it is calculated that if these changes continue, many species of plants and animals will die out. And there will be significant environmental losses.

What will the future hold?
If we do nothing and things continue to go on right now then the day will come when people will be wiped off the face of the earth. But instead of ignoring these problems we start working so we can save the world and our future.

Although human error has caused much damage to the climate and the environment. However, it is not too late to start over and try to fix what we have done so far to harm the environment. And if everyone begins to contribute to the environment then we can be confident of our future existence.

Conclusion

Climate change poses a major and growing challenge in the Arctic and around the world. While these emerging concerns are important now, their effects are particularly significant for future generations who will inherit current actions or inefficiencies. Strong immediate action is needed to reduce pollution in order to change the future of human temperature. Action is needed to begin to adapt to the already warming and ongoing warmth. The findings of this preliminary study of the impact of climate on the Arctic provide a scientific basis on which decision makers can look at, make, and apply appropriate measures to respond to this important and broader challenge.

Things vary so much that in some places the festival lasts for five days, in some places for seven days and in some places for ten full days. The reunion begins with ‘Shashti’ – the sixth day and ends with ‘VijayaDashmi’ – the tenth day.

The goddess Durga was the daughter of Himalayas and Menka. She later became Sati to marry King Shiva. It is believed that the Durga pooja festival dates back to when King Rama worshiped the goddess to gain power over her to kill Ravana.

In some communities, especially in Bangal, the festival is celebrated by decorating the ‘pandand’ in the surrounding regions. On the last day, they go again to immerse the goddess in the sacred river Ganges.

Some believe that another story after the festival was that on this day the goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahisasura. He was called by the Lord of the trinity – Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu to destroy the demon and save the world at his feet. The battle continued for ten days and finally, on the tenth day, Goddess Durga cast out the demon. We celebrate the tenth day like Dussehra or Vijayadashami.

Traditions Performed During the Durga Pooja Time
The festivities date back to the time of the Mahalaya, when devotees asked Goddess Durga to come to earth. On this day, they made eye contact with the statue of the goddess during a beautiful ceremony called Chokkhu Daan. After erecting a statue of the goddess Durga in their place, they performed rituals to enhance her blessed presence in the images at Saptami.

These traditions are called ‘Pran Pratisthan’. It consists of a small banana plant known as Kola Bou (banana bride), which is taken to bathe in a nearby river or lake, wrapped in a sari, and used as a means of carrying the divine power of God.

During the festival, devotees offer prayers to God and worship him in a variety of ways. After the evening ritual of aarti is performed on the eighth day it is a ritual of traditional religious dance performed before the Goddess to please her. The dance is performed to the accompaniment of musical drums while holding a clay pot filled with a cover of a burning coconut and camphor.

On the ninth day, the worship is completed with Maha Aarti. It is a symbol of the end of great rituals and prayers. On the last day of the festival, the goddess Durga returns to her husband’s residence and the orders of the goddess Durga are taken for immersion in the river. Married women donated vermillion red powder to Goddess and tagged themselves with the powder.

The Conclusion
Everyone celebrates and enjoys the festival regardless of their age and financial status. Durga Pooja is a major public and theater festival. Dancing and performing rituals are an important part of it. Delicious traditional food is also a big part of the festival. Kolkata Street flourishes with stalls and shops, where locals and foreigners enjoy a mouth-watering meal, including sweets. To celebrate Durga Pooja, all workplaces, educational institutions, and business premises remain closed in West Bengal. Many non-Bengali cultural centers organize Durga Pooja in many parts of the UK, USA, Australia, France and other countries. Therefore, the festival teaches us that good always overcomes evil and therefore we should always follow the right path.

Holi – Festival of colours

Holi is known as the festival of colors. Holi is celebrated annually with enthusiasm and enthusiasm in March by followers of the Hindu religion. Those who celebrate the festival, look forward to it every year with the desire to play with colors and have beautiful dishes.

The people forget their problems and indulged in this celebration of brotherhood with joy and happiness. In other words, we forget our animosity and get into a festive mood. Holi is called a festival of colors because people play with colors and apply it to each other’s faces to color in the essence of the festival.

Holi’s history
Hinduism believes that there was a satanic king named Hiranyakashyap long ago. He had a son named Prahlad who was a great disciple of Lord Vishnu. He also had a sister named Holika who had the blessings that fire could cause no harm to her. It is believed that the satanic king had the blessings of King Brahma. This blessing meant that no one, animal or weapon could kill him. This blessing became a curse to him as he became very proud. He commanded his kingdom to serve him instead of God, not to leave his own son.

After this, all the people began to worship him except his son, Prahlad. Prahlad refused to worship his father instead of God as he truly believed in King Vishnu. Seeing his disobedience, the king of Satan plotted to assassinate Prahlad. She sat him on the fire with her son in her lap, where Holika was burned and Prahlad came out safe. This showed that he was protected by his Master because of his devotion. Therefore, the people began to celebrate Holi as a victory for good over evil.

Holi Celebration
People celebrate Holi with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm, especially in North India. The day before the Holi, people performed a ritual called ‘Holika Dahan’. In this tradition, people pile piles of wood in public places to burn them. It shows the burning of evil forces in the review of the story of Holika and King Hiranyakashyap. In addition, they gathered around the Catholic Church to seek blessings and to dedicate themselves to God.

On the next day people celebrate their joy with colours. The people get up early and offer pooja to God. After that, they put on white clothes and played with colors. They pour water on each other. Children run around the water colors using water guns. Likewise, adults also become children on this day. They dye each other’s faces and dip them in water.

In the evening, they bathe and dress appropriately for visiting friends and family. They danced all day and drank a special drink called ‘bhaang’. People of all ages enjoy the special taste of holi ‘gujiya’ vigorously.

Those satellites revolve around the earth each day and night time. Even with out making us aware of it.
Science is the spine of our society: Technology gave us so much in our gift time. Because of this, the instructor in our schools teaches science from an early age.

Technological know-how as a topic
Technology taught us approximately our solar system. The solar system includes 9 planets and the sun. Most noteworthy was that it also tells us about the starting place of our planet. Chiefly, we can’t deny that technology facilitates us in shaping our destiny. However now not only it tells us approximately our future, however it also tells us approximately our past.

When the student reaches magnificence 6, science receives divided into 3 extra subcategories. These subcategories had been physics, chemistry, and biology. First of all, physics taught us approximately the machines. Physics is an thrilling concern. It’s miles a logical challenge.

Moreover, the second situation changed into chemistry. Chemistry is a subject that offers with an detail observed inside the earth. Even extra, it enables in making diverse merchandise. Products like medicinal drug and cosmetics etc. Bring about human advantages.

Ultimate however now not least, the problem of biology. Biology tells us about its various elements. Furthermore, it even teaches the scholars about cells. Cells are found in human blood. Technological know-how is so superior that it did let us recognise even that.

Main scientists inside the discipline of science
Sooner or later, many scientists like thomas edison, sir isaac newton had been born in this global. They’ve accomplished remarkable innovations. Thomas edison invented the mild bulb. If he did no longer invent that we would live in darkish. Because of this thomas edison’s call marks in records.

Any other famous scientist was sir isaac newton. Sir isaac newton informed us approximately gravity. With the help of this, we were capable of discover many different theories.

The role of the education system in India

The education sector has the potential to be a revolution for the people, of course, with a skilled and well-educated young people. The nation provides a higher rate of achievement of the objectives of economic growth, and the competition is known as a developed nation. The education system in India refers to the process of education, training of human resources in colleges and universities. The government of india reflects some of its economic policies, with an emphasis on the importance of education in India.

The factors that contribute to the significance of education in India:

It is designed to eliminate the volatility of the unemployment rate

An important consequence of the presence is the “unemployment rate”. The unemployment rate is impeding the progress of the nation, which in turn leads to a decrease in the standard of living, and an increase in the crime rate.

In India, it is to be stuck in a critical situation, with almost 58 percent of the jobless graduates, and 77 per cent of the households are deprived of a permanent income tax. About 67% to receive an annual income of about 1.2 lakhs per anum.

In these circumstances people will not be able to afford a good quality of life aand it will take them to a life of poverty and unemployment.

Eliminates Poverty

India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies in the year 2020, the poverty rate in the country is high and it is one of the greatest evils of illiteracy.

In India, nearly 70.6 million people still live in extreme poverty, and a way to break out of the vicious cycle of poverty is through Education. Education provides high level of skills, resulting in greater access to the labour market, which, in turn, allows for better living.

To eliminate the cabinets

Thus, it helps to provide them with good quality of life and higher standard of living and at a wider scale contributes in the growth and development of the country.

Why “INTERNSHIP” is important?

First, we need to be clear about what is an internship. An internship is the position or opportunity for a student or a trainee to work in or for an organisation. The trainee or student is paid or sometimes not paid, but the sure thing is he/she gets the work experience, acquires new skills and establishes connection with a great number of people. And, training is the part of internship in which the trainee gets the teaching to acquire a particular skill.

Now the question is why do we need to do an internship? So, there are many reasons why should you do that. First, you get to apply your knowledge, what all you have learnt in your classroom, there will be a practical implementation of all that in the internship. Doing an internship helps you to gain experience in the market of the career you want to pursue. Despite of gaining experience it provides you an edge over other candidates applying for a job and you also get the confidence to work for that job as you already know what is expected from you in that particular job position as you have already worked for the same in your internship. It also helps in increasing your network. You get to interact with the officials in the field in which you want to pursue your career as well as you form connections with the other people who have same interests as you. And trust me, having connections surely improves your chances of getting selected for a job. You also acquire professionalism in your work. You also acquire skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, etc. while working in an internship. You get to know about how organizations work in real, how work is done in reality, how you have to meet up to the expectations of the particular internship by training and developing the required skills. You are aware of the workplace culture which no textbook can help you with unless experienced while working in reality. You get to build your resume. Believe me, your resume will look much stronger if you have done an internship in the field you are applying for a job. You get a professional feedback in the form of certificates and letter of recommendation (LOR) from the employer or organisation you worked under during your internship. You get to learn a lot from others working around you. You can learn from both the positive and negative qualities of the other person. You get to know what you like and what you don’t like to work for before getting a job.

At the end, I will ask you all to do an internship. Do as many internships in different fields which intrigue you. At present you can see almost everyone around you doing some kind of internship or training. You don’t want to fall back and be that person who does not have skills which other people at the same position as yours have. So, the conclusion is train yourselves hard to gain the skills required to stand the competition of the present rapidly growing world.

‘The Old Man And The Sea’ is one of the most popular novel written by Ernest Hemingway. While, he is known as the master of brevity, his concise works also are much more complex than they would first appear, and ‘The Old Man And The Sea’ is no exception. The book was published on 1952.The story goes through the life of an old man named Santiago.

Santiago is a old fisherman who has gone for 84 days without catching a fish. His dream is to catch a big fish, so that he can prove his life is not a failure. On the 85th day old man sets out to the open sea. He goes a little farther out than he normally would in his desperation to catch a big fish. After sometimes he saw a big fish, but it is very difficult for him to handle. He expertly hooks the fish, but he cannot pull it in. Instead the fish begins to pull the boat. For two days they battle and Santiago wins that battle, but on the way back to his home scavenger sharks came and ate the flesh of the big fish. The skeleton was only there when he reach the shore. As soon as he reached, he fell asleep. undefined

The story is told with incredible economy of words and description, yet nothing is sacrificed which drives home the power and inner strength of this man, who just takes it as what he does, what it is to be a serious fisherman.

There is a side tale as well. This great individual the old man who stands alone, is not alone completely by choice. He has developed a friendship, a working relationship, a love with a young boy who began fishing with him, when the boy was only five. Now the boy has moved on to another boat, a more successful one,at his parents behest, but he pines to work with Santiago, and when the battle with the great fish has been engaged Santiago pleads over and over :”I wish the boy were here”.

The novel seems to be a simple story. It however has lots of hidden meanings which reflect on society and human’s personality. I got three lessons from this novel, which are patience, courage and friendship. Santiago’s patience is suggestive of satisfaction and happiness after the patience. We are faced with lots of hardships and suffering. We often give up and feel desperate from it. It is not easy to struggle with those. Santiago’s life and challenge encourage us not to be frustrated.

At last, I suggest that this novel is valuable to read. It is not only because this novel is famous or interesting but also there are morals and messages and even courage.

The New Watchdog

Mainstream media to new media- how has the shift affected political reporting

Politics is undoubtedly a game for supremacy solely played in the name of the people for evoking national interest. Fred Fedler was right then he said “journalism is built on reporting government”. The idea of ‘the watchdog’ means that the journalist, as an independent observer without any vested interest in any side of the controversy, can inform the public about what is going on, particularly if the government is corrupt or even incompetent. However, the political journalists do not play this role flawlessly.

There is a paucity of good political reporting in India- reporting with an insight, reporting that captures in action the trouper of the political field, reporting that exposes the petty politics and the never ending hypocrisies of political parties and the conspiracies of those in power.

The grave situation that the Indian democracy is in, is that it is they who guide and shape the destiny of some 135 crore people. Lacking ideas, bereft of intelligence and character, they exploit religion and caste to stay in power.

Most political commentators and reporters on traditional medias like mainstream news channels and newspapers have glorified politicians and never truthfully presented their failures as much as their achievements. Programmes of political parties are rarely critically evaluated by reporters of most traditional media and their flaws are never commented upon so that the people are carried away by their rhetoric or patriotic postures. The Inadequate political coverage, not judged by the quantity of the news brought in or reported but by the quality of it, brings down the credibility of the traditional media.

The mediatization of the political news necessitates that media content is governed by media logic rather than political logic, and can be indicated by media interventionism where the journalists are in control of news making. (Esser, 2008, Strömbäck and Dimitrova, 2011, Zeh and Hopmann, 2013).

The way we use social media today impacts what we read and how we read or listen to news. Consider politics for that matter- Political parties bank on news channels, such as ZEE News or NDTV to get their updates on how the election campaign is going. Unbeknownst to many, both of these news outlets are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. If you tune into Zee News, you will get a completely different view of any candidate than you would on NDTV and viseversa. This type of controlling what people read and hear causes a lot of misinterpretation. This is where political reporting in new media comes into, where you not just read what the journalist has to say but also what others think about it and more importantly why they think the way they do. Unlike the traditional media, you don’t hear one side of the story, on new media platforms you can view multitude versions of the same story. With the advent of political reporting via social media and news portals, journalists who act like the watchdogs are now backed up, not only by their organisation, but also by their viewers, readers and followers who make an informed choice.

At the same time, the new media has initiated trends time and again. exposed how the traditional political reporters undercut the ideal aims of a free democratic press. The watchdog role is now played by the new media which had previously only been performed by trained political journalists who even under the worst of circumstances focused on uncovering the facts surrounding serious political wrongdoings.

Knock knock. Who’s there? Democracy. Democracy who?

Democracy in layman terms is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. Media is being considered as the fourth pillar of democratic society after executive, legislature, and judiciary. One of the crowning glories of the democratic system is the freedom of expression and the space that is provided to views from different sections of the society. The last few years witnessed an enhanced interface between the media and the common man, thanks to social media

The role of Social Networking Sites in Indian politics has risen tremendously in recent years. Different Indian political parties have their websites and some of them also use other social mediums to interact with people. With every party having its website and leaders being active on different media it makes the citizens feel that they are within their reach. It feels like the leaders are a touch away. Mr. Shashi Tharoor of Congress Party was one of the first politicians to start tweeting and has a separate fan base for his tweets now. Through social media, politicians now constantly display their message through endless campaigns, see direct responses to their actions via Facebook or Twitter, and connect with the public. One of the most recent example is Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders, where an auto-generated response was sent to all those who tweeted to the PM, giving the illusion that they were contributing to something large.

It is important to note that political engagement through social media is not limited to adults, but young potential voters increasingly use social media for online political participation. Especially younger people are using social networking platforms such as Twitter to develop an individualised form of activism that they connect to most. Unlike Mainstream media where narratives are indirectly controlled, influenced and favoured by the business houses and political parties that are funding the channel, Social media is comparatively a less regulated space.

Ravish Kumar on his Prime Time show on NDTV urged everyone to stop watching television back in March 2019. Why would someone who earns his living through mainstream television media tell you to do that? This shows how grave the situation was and still is. Public issues have disappeared from the channels, when Indian states were reeling under floods, the channels were still flooded by anti- Pakistan narratives, tukde-tukde gang narratives and the never-ending glorification of the honourable PM. Is TRP more important than highlighting important issues? Is selling news more important than upholding the fourth pillar? If we see the current media scenario then the answer to the latter question seems too easy.

Wouldn’t you agree if I said that the watchdog, or in other words the press and the media have a significant influence on society? Then is it fair to have corporate houses and political parties with vested interests invest in the media?

India News is owned by Karthikeya Sharma, son of a Congress leader. News 24 is controlled by Rajeev Shukla, a Congress leader and his wife Anuradha Prasad who is the sister of BJP leader, Ravi Shankar Prasad. Times Group is owned by Bennet & Coleman. The Italian, Robertio Mindo who has a share in the group is a close relative of Sonia Gandhi. CNN- News 18 is owned by Mukesh Ambani. Republic TV is owned by ARG Outlier Media Pvt Ltd and one of its biggest investors is Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a BJP leader- These are just a few examples out of the many news channels.

Editors are pulled up for putting their opinion, journalists are asked to toe the line, and media houses align themselves with different political ideologies and the interests of the owners and sponsors. Is it really possible to have a free and a fair media with this direct hold?

‘Freedom of the press is not just important to democracy, it is democracy.’

Walter Cronkite

India is the world’s largest democracy, and the media mustn’t be controlled by any political party, big corporate houses or any other sector. The Press and the media is the voice of the voiceless and should promote the rights of not just the majority but also the minority; it is the duty of the press of any country to ensure that the government is functioning properly and no section of the society is left behind.
