OVERVIEW

On December 6, 1973, 14-year-old Susie Salmon takes her usual shortcut home from her school through a cornfield in Norristown, Pennsylvania. George Harvey, her 36-year-old neighbor, a bachelor who builds doll houses for a living, persuades her to look at an underground kid’s hideout he constructed in the field. Once she enters, he abuses and murders her, then dismembers her body and puts her remains in a safe that he dumps in a sinkhole, along with throwing her charm bracelet into a pond. Susie’s spirit flees toward her personal Heaven, and in doing so, rushes past her classmate, social outcast Ruth Connors, who can see Susie’s ghostly spirit.

The Salmon family initially refuses to believe Susie is dead, until a neighbor’s dog finds Susie’s elbow. The police talk to Harvey, finding him odd but not suspicious. Susie’s father, Jack, gradually suspects Harvey. Jack’s surviving daughter, Lindsey, eventually shares this sentiment. Jack takes an extended leave from work. Meanwhile, another of Susie’s classmates, Ray Singh, who had a crush on Susie in school, develops a friendship with Ruth, drawn together by their connection with Susie.

Sussie Salmon

Later, Detective Len Fenerman tells the Salmons the police have exhausted all leads and are dropping the investigation. That night, Jack peers out of his den window and sees a flashlight in the cornfield. Believing Harvey is returning to destroy evidence, Jack runs out to confront him, armed with a baseball bat. The figure is not Harvey, but Clarissa, Susie’s best friend who is dating Brian, one of Susie’s classmates. As Susie watches in horror from heaven, Brian—who was going to meet Clarissa in the cornfield—nearly beats Jack to death, and Clarissa breaks Jack’s knee. While Jack recovers from knee replacement surgery, Susie’s mother, Abigail, begins cheating on Jack with the widowed Fenerman.

Trying to help her father prove his suspicions, Lindsey sneaks into Harvey’s house and finds a diagram of the underground den, but is forced to leave when Harvey returns unexpectedly. The police do not arrest Lindsey for breaking and entering. Harvey flees from Norristown. Later, evidence is discovered linking Harvey to Susie’s murder as well as to those of several other girls. Meanwhile, Susie meets Harvey’s other victims in heaven and sees into his traumatic childhood.

Abigail leaves Jack and eventually takes a job at a winery in California. Abigail’s mother, Grandma Lynn, moves into the Salmons’ home to care for Buckley (Susie’s younger brother) and Lindsey. Eight years later, Lindsey and her boyfriend, Samuel Heckler, become engaged after finishing college, find an old house in the woods owned by a classmate’s father, and decide to fix it up and live there. Sometime after the celebration, while arguing with his son Buckley, Jack suffers a heart attack. The emergency prompts Abigail to return from California, but the reunion is tempered by Buckley’s lingering bitterness for her having abandoned the family for most of his childhood.

Sussie in the light house

Meanwhile, Harvey returns to Norristown, which has become more developed. He explores his old neighborhood and notices the school is being expanded into the cornfield where he murdered Susie. He drives by the sinkhole where Susie’s body rests and where Ruth and Ray are standing. Ruth senses the women Harvey has killed and is physically overcome. Susie, watching from heaven, is also overwhelmed with emotion and feels how she and Ruth transcend their present existence, and the two girls exchange positions: Susie, her spirit now in Ruth’s body, connects with Ray, who senses Susie’s presence and is stunned by the fact that Susie is briefly back with him. The two confess love as Susie has longed to do after witnessing her sister and Samuel. Afterwards, Susie returns to Heaven.

Susie moves on to another, larger part of Heaven, but occasionally watches earthbound events. Lindsey and Samuel have a daughter together named Abigail Suzanne. While stalking a young woman in New Hampshire, Harvey is hit on the shoulder by an icicle and falls to his death down a snow-covered slope into the ravine below. At the end of the novel, a Norristown couple finds Susie’s charm bracelet but don’t realize its significance, and Susie closes the story by wishing the reader “a long and happy life”.

THE HISTORIC FRAMEWORK OF INDIAN TRADITION

Tradition is a custom or belief passed from past generation to present generation. India has a continuous history covering a long period. By following the Indologist, DR.A.L.Basham’s analysis, the Indian heritage can be best appreciated with different historical periods. This period is broadly discussed as follows:

BEFORE 1500 BC: PRE-VEDIC CULTURE OF THE INDUS VALLEY:

This culture came to light through excavations at Mohenjodaro (in Sind) and Harappa (Punjab) – both now in Pakistan, Harappa/Kalibangan (Rajasthan), Lothal (Gulf of Cambay)(Gujarat) and Surkotada (Gujarat). The Indus Valley finds reveal a great civilization that flourished in the dim, distant past. The civilization – the material aspects of life or the external features of living – was marked by: streets and lanes laid out according to a set plan; houses built of bricks; public tanks; places of worship; granaries for storing grain; fortifications. The people occupied themselves in agriculture, made use of pottery, and sculpted on metal. It was the Age of Bronze – objects made of the bronze-like knife – blades, saws, sickles, chisels, celts, razors, pins, tweezers, fishhooks were used in households. Spears, arrowheads, and short swords made of bronze were used for defense.

1500 BC – 1000 BC: EARLY VEDIC AGE:

The Vedic hymns which are chanted even today, the personal rituals that are practiced, The patriarchal and patrilineal family system are some of the legacies from this period.

1000 BC – 600 BC: LATER VEDIC TIMES:

To this period we owe the passion for speculation on ultimate causes (as reflected in the Upanishads), the quest for the Absolute (the concept of Brahman), the doctrine of transmigration and rebirth (the idea of Karma and consequences of good and bad acts), the concept of a release from a cycle of births and deaths ( the goal of Liberation or Moksha) and the glory of mysticism. This period saw the crystallization of the four classes (‘Varnas’, a social order originally conceived as a functional division of labor, which has turned out to be a mixed blessing though corruption); the introduction of iron; the domestication of the elephant; and the development of kingdoms out of tribal chieftainships.

600 BC – 320 BC: THE EMERGENCE OF BUDDHISM

Siddhartha Gotama, known as the Buddha, is the founder of Buddhism. The four main principles taught by Buddha are life is suffering, craving causes suffering, suffering can be overcome, following noble 8-fold paths to end suffering.

320 BC – 185 BC: THE MAURYAN EMPIRE:

We have inherited from this period: the Indian idea of statecraft as embodied in Arthasastra of the Mauryan Minister, Kautilya, also known as Chanakya; the earliest surviving sculpture of India (the Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath); the oldest artificial caves ( Lomas Rishi Caves, Barabar Hills, Bihar) and the most ancient Buddhist stupas (Sanchi). The national symbol of the Ashoka Chakra is taken from the Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath with its Lion Capital. The Dharma Chakra represents the dharma or the Law of the Buddha, and the lions the temporal power of the emperor who has dedicated all his resources to the victory of dharma (dharma Vijaya). “The symbolism of Indian art attained its highest expression in the Sarnath capital, which is as much Buddhist as Vedic in the significance of its several parts”.

184 BC-AD 320: THE PERIOD BETWEEN THE MAURYAS AND THE GUPTAS:

New forms of devotional religion, with Shiva and Vishnu as the central deities, emerged. The Mahabaratha and The Ramayana were edited. Sanskrit literature, consisting of drama and poetry, developed. Philosophical schools characterized by logical reasoning emerged.

AD 320 – AD 647: THE PERIOD BETWEEN THE RISE OF THE GUPTAS AND THE DEATH OF HARSHAVARDHANA:

This is the classical period of Indian civilization from which we have inherited the works of Kalidasa (Sanskrit drama and poetry); the paintings of Ajanta; the place notation of numerals (with nine digits and zero); The Puranas (legends illustrating the Vedic religious conceptions and philosophical doctrines). Stone-built temples appeared throughout the land. Worship of the deity as Mother Goddess came into vogue.

AD 647 – AD 1200: THE PERIOD OF BHAKTI SCHOOLS AND THE PHILOSOPHICAL SYSTEMS OF SRI SANKARA AND   SRIRAMANUJA:

The devotional hymns of the Alwars and the Nayanmars of the South gave an impetus to the bhakti movement in the country. To this period belong the imposing temple structures of the South and the bronze images of various gods.

AD 1192 – AD 1526: THE SULTANATE PERIOD (MUSLIM RULE):

The new style of architecture with the dome and the arch made its appearance. Vernacular literature appeared instead of Sanskrit which was the main vehicle of literary expression till then.

AD 1526 – AD 1707: THE MUGHAL EMPIRE:

Imposing edifices like the Taj Mahal belong to this period. Sikhism belongs to this period – ‘born as a small devotional sect and reborn, when the period concluded, as a martial brotherhood’.

18TH, 19TH, AND 20TH CENTURIES: THE DOMINANCE OF THE ENGLISH:

After a period of stagnation in the 18thcentury, India began to feel the impact of the West. The study of the English language was made compulsory and the English system of administration was introduced. As a reaction, the modern Indian renaissance, which included a revival of ancient learning and reform of Hindu social customs and practices, began with Raja Rammohan Roy is in the lead. Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Dayananda Saraswati, Sri Aurobindo, among others, held up the glories of our religious and philosophical heritage, by precept and example. Mahatma Gandhi emerged as the Father of the Nation delivering the people from bondage into freedom. The subcontinent was divided into India and Pakistan and both countries attained complete independence from foreign rule. India became the Sovereign Democratic Republic on January 26th, 1950 with freedom and dignity assured to every individual citizen under the country’s new Constitution.

Romeo Juliet – Love Retold

Fanfiction of Romeo and Juliet by wordsoflavanya

On the way to the castle

“Take your hand inside sweetheart, you’ll catch a cold,” said the nurse. The coldness of the night and the beauty of the moon can’t stop Julia from peeping out. She wrapped her warm arms around and lost herself in the view. She was distracted by the sudden fire and cries of the people.

“Nurse, the carriages are set on fire by the Montagues” a stammered and broken voice was heard.

“Julia, come here dear. We’ll be okay” comforted the nurse.

A man who hid in his clothes pulled Julian’s hand. “Dare to harm my child!” the nurse shouted in anger.

“What are you doing…we aren’t here for this” he took his hands off her.

“But these people…they…”

“Romeo…let’s move. They’re here”, Benvolio shouted at the top of his voice.

But they were already lost in their sight. They couldn’t take their eyes off each other but were forced to move.

Tybalt and the Capulet men rushed to the scene and found the carriages and their commodities set on fire. Tybalt took off his sword and tried to tear their face cover. Within a strike of lightning, the men in the black horses disappeared. And Julian was finally able to hear the nurse’s voice.

“Are you okay dear…Speak something?” she asked. “Yeah…I…I’m okay…” she replied.

“Calm and cold was the night

Until the lovers were made to meet

The dreamers had their first dream

Romeo and Juliet – destiny they called

The moon smirked behind the clouds

As if it already knew their fate.”

That night neither the two eyes had a wink of sleep. Both had a question linger in their mind, “Are we meant to be?”

Capulet’s castle

“We are having a ball in a fortnight and Montague is trying to trigger us into a fight,” said Lady Capulet.

“Calm down. We must not react as we shall meet Count Paris anytime” advised the Lord.

“You have promised Julian to me, Uncle,” Tybalt interrupted.

“You are unable to save the people and my Julia…how can I promise my child to you and the connections are more important to us than your feelings” replied Lord Capulet and left the room hastily.

“Prepare the ball and let the Montagues be invited as it is a social gathering” ordered Lady to the servants.

Juliet’s room

“Nurse, I think I’m in love. I couldn’t think of anything else since I met him” she told the nurse.

“Julia, who are you talking about?” asked the nurse with a smile.

“The man we met last night…Romeo”

“Have you lost your mind? This can’t happen. Your father is going to announce your engagement in a fortnight. Better forget him dear” she advised her.

“Why can’t you understand nurse, Count Paris isn’t a good man…”

“But that’s what the Lord wants my child” she replied. Julia sighed and went outside the room to watch the stars or it was the silly reason she gave herself to get lost in Romeo’s thoughts.

“Oh, Romeo! Thou art a Montague?

You and I are foes but I love you

I don’t care about the rest if I have you

Will I ever hear a word from you?”

She questioned looking at the sky.

“Juliet, Oh my love!

And a sudden yet familiar voice hit her ears.

Will you be my bride?

Our name is the pain

Our love is the cure”

“I recognize your voice, Romeo?” “How did you come here?” she asked.

“Didn’t you want me here, Julia?” Romeo jumped into her balcony from the dark.

“Your eyes are the lanterns of my night sky. I would get lost in the depth of your eyes and never wake up. You are the sun that lights up my world and the serene moon which makes me calm. You’re my life, my love!”

“Don’t you feel the same, Juliet?

“I do, my love”. Her eyes gleamed in the moonlight.

“Come inside Juliet” her nurse called.

“Go. Otherwise, they’ll find you Romeo” “Let’s meet at the square tomorrow at noon. I’ll wait for you,” she said, holding his hands unwilling to let go.

“I’ll wait for you there…come soon. Good night love. Let’s meet in our dreams” he kissed her forehead. It’s been a perfect night for the lovers, the nightingale sang their love story and the sky blushed.

“Where have you been my dear friend, I find something mysterious in you…?”

“Mercutio, I met the most beautiful woman in the world. Her eyes teach me new words and I wish to be hers’ forever. I’m in love with her, my friend”

“I’m in love with Juliet Capulet”

“So, Romeo Montague is in love with Capulet” “But do you know that Count Paris is suited to Juliet?” Mercutio asked.

“It doesn’t matter when love is the only language we know” he smiled and took his departure.

At the Square

It has been their longest wait. They craved to see each other, hold hands, and to get lost in their world. Julia was on the way riding a black horse to meet the love of her life.

“You look more beautiful in the day than at night,” he said, resisting himself to adore her.

“Finally, I see your hair color,” she said smiling.

A week passed in a fraction of a second. Their love grew stronger and greater as days passed by. They lived an eternity every time they met. They decided to marry in the presence of Friar Lawrence as they knew it would be impossible to convince their parents.

Two days before the ball

On a bright sunny day, at the holy church, the lovers exchanged their marriage vows. Their meeting wasn’t an accident. Their paths are meant to be crossed and now they are two bodies and a soul. It was the happiest moment for the lovers. They weren’t lovers anymore. After spending the entire day together, they had their goodbye kiss as husband and wife.

“I’ll sort everything out very soon. Don’t you worry my wife” he said.

“We will,” she said.

Some stories last for a lifetime

Some are just made to cross paths

But there are some which are

meant to be – the eternal one

Romeo and Juliet.

At the ball

The Capulets, the Montagues, the King and the Prince all were gathered for the ceremony. Lord Capulet was very eager to inform his daughter’s engagement with Count Prince. Tybalt was filled with anger. Romeo and Juliet were in mixed emotions. It is the last opportunity to expose their relationship to their family.

“You’re beautiful Juliet Capulet, my wife,” said Count Prince.

“I’m a loyal wife of Romeo and I have the same second name as him” she confronted everyone in the hall.

Everyone in the ceremony was speechless. Lord Capulet and Montague started to argue. Tybalt, who was full of anger, took out his sword and tried to attack Romeo. But he wasn’t ready to fight as Tybalt is his family now. Mercutio tried to convince Tybalt but was triggered by his anger. He took out his sword and started fighting. Within a moment, Mercutio was hurt. There was blood and he was on his verge of death. Romeo was crying beside him, unable to control his emotions.

“You must live, my friend. Violence won’t end violence; only love will. My love wasn’t meant to be and I want you to live. I want your love to end this war” he said. He smiled at a woman in the crowd. He knew she was the only one who could give him peace even in the pain.

Mercutio died.

The Prince lost his temper. He ordered Tybalt to leave the country. He also ordered the Capulets and the Montagues to accept Romeo and Juliet. Juliet was crying. Romeo consoled her.

“We won’t accept you,” said Lord Capulet.

“Neither will we,” said Montague.

But the lovers were sure. It’s them or nothing. They started their life hoping it will grow beautiful someday.

Ten years later

“Wake up kids. We need to pay a visit to your grandparents” Jula said to Catherine and Harry.

Romeo entered the room.

“You’re beautiful my love” he kissed her.

Julia held his hands and smiled at him.

On a beautiful morning
At our home filled with
our children’s laughter
With you by my side
I would still tell,
“You’re beautiful”
And you’ll smile back at me.

OUR COMMON ENEMY

Photo by Nothing Ahead on Pexels.com

Us humans have a common enemy , that is fear . A human is born with just 2 fears – the fear of heights and fear of loud noises , and all the other fears are developed over the years . A normal amount of fear is good , it acts as a driving force and pushes you to do your best , but an abnormal amount of fear can be harmful as it prevents you from moving forward . There are ways to overcome these fears , here’s how :

IDENTIFY YOUR FEARS – The most important part of overcoming fear is actually identifying them . Knowing what exactly is causing so much fear helps you in becoming more aware about it . Once you know the root cause of your fears , it will be easy confronting it . Write down about in and sit with it for a while . Once have identified and being familiarised with your fear , you will be one step closer to overcoming and mastering your fear.

USE YOUR POWER OF IMAGINATION – When in a state of fear , we use our imagination to visualise the worst possible outcomes which inevitably leads to us being pushed deep into the labyrinth of negative thoughts . Instead of visualising the worst that can happen , try visualising the best possible outcome . This can help you resort to a state of calmness and prevent panicking .

FEAR CAN BE YOUR MOTIVATOR – Fear is actually your biggest motivator as it does not let you be in a state of complacency . Its the excess fear that is harmful . Your fear can actually lead you to the exact path you are supposed to be in. Stop viewing fear as a threat , view it as your guide that helps you in your life journey . Changing your mindset can really be beneficial .

NO MORE WHAT IFs – We humans have a tendency of complicating our lives by thinking about alternative outcomes. We have this ‘what if?’ question in our head , what if i lose ? what if this turns out to be horrible ? what if i fail? what if i hadn’t taken that step ? . Stop doing that , it’s not helping as what’s done is done , and we can never predict the future . So refrain from asking the what ifs as it gives fear more space in your head . Just let it be , let it go , just take action.

TALK TO SOMEONE – Talking about your fears with a friend , your parents or anyone in general can mitigate it and help you relax a bit . Ask for help if you need and discuss about your fears. It is very helpful as it helps you rationalise your fears and prevent it from spiralling out .

Master your fear , don’t let it have control over you .

He is an honest boy of seven but, on the other hand, he also does not hesitate telling lies to his father. He loves his granny’s stories. Swami’s mother appears in the novel only occasionally, usually in the context of providing Swami with something he wants or backing him up in an argument with his father.

Swami’s grandmother, whom he calls Granny, is an old woman who lives with Swami and his mother and father. Swami views Granny as ancient and sometimes embarrassing, but she is also a source of comfort and security during times of change, particularly when Swami’s brother is born.

Conclusion of the Novel

The moral of swami and friends the book written by RK Narayan is it reminds us about our childhood memories such as mischief’s in childhood, plucking mangoes etc. and in short it briefly explains the sweetness of childhood and importance of friendship.  His father use to say you must rise up early to study and “remember boy, your examination is not going to wait but your granny can!”. Therefore this paragraph teaches us that  “never force any child too much to study”, as a first life lesson from swami & friends.

Vodafone Tax Case Study

Introduction

In this article, we will discuss about the Vodafone tax case. This tax case was started more than 13 years back and even today this case has not been solved out. We will now find out what makes this case so complicated.

Tax Haven

So before we begin with the case, Let me give a small brief about what is a tax haven. So, A tax haven is generally an “offshore country” that offers foreign individuals and businesses little or no tax liability in a politically and economically static environment. This means Tax havens provide the advantage of little or no tax liability. Why do these countries do so? Tax Haven Countries benefit by way of attracting capital to their banks and financial institutions. Individuals or Businesses benefit by saving tax, which in tax haven countries may range from zero to low single digits. This is a win-win situation. There are many tax havens all over the world. A list of some of the most popular tax haven countries includes the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Cook Islands, The Isle of Man, and Mauritius.

The Deal

  • Four companies were involved in the transaction.
  • First is Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited (HTIL). It is situated in Hong Kong. It holds 100% shares in CGP Investments Holdings Ltd.
  • CGP Investments holdings ltd is situated in Cayman island, Mauritius, and holds 67% shares in HEL.
  • The third company is Hutch Essar Limited (HEL). It was situated in India and was formed by the merger of HTIL and Essar groups.
  • The fourth company is Vodafone International Holdings (VIH). It is situated in Netherland.
  • Before 2007, HTIL owned CGP investments completely and CGP investments had a major stake in HEL in India. This means HTIL was owning HEL indirectly through CGP Investments. Vodafone wanted to acquire HEL. Now if it straight away buys the shares of HEL, then that would attract huge Capital Gains tax in India under the Income Tax Act. To save tax, Vodafone opted to acquire CGP, which is holding company of HEL. So, after the deal, Vodafone became the owner of HEL but indirectly through CGP.
Tax Return Form and Notebooks on the Table

IT Department view

But this transaction came under the notice of our Income Tax department and they did not like it. Their contention was simple- CGP was created just to take benefits of tax exemption. According to them, this was the case of Tax Evasion. They were looking at Substance over form. Substance means reality and form mean what is there on paper. So according to them, the transaction was to transfer rights in HEL to Vodafone. This is because though Vodafone paid 11.9 Billion dollars in consideration for a stake in CGP. But CGP in itself was not doing any business. Therefore Vodafone was served a legal notice as it failed to deduct tax. IT Department issued Rs 11,200 crores plus interest Notice to the Vodafone.

Vodafone goes to Supreme Court

Vodafone however, did not relent. The company approached the Supreme Court where the discussion largely revolved around one subject— Was this a deliberate case of tax avoidance or was it simply prudent tax planning? After all, if Vodafone had designed the transaction in a deliberate ploy to avoid taxes, they could be held liable. But if they could prove they had simply executed the transaction without ill intention, maybe they’d get some reprieve. And after lengthy deliberations, the Supreme Court opined that the sale did not amount to tax avoidance. The judges ruled that Vodafone no longer had to pay taxes on this transaction and that should have been the end of this conversation. The government, however, brought retrospective amendments in 2012, which made Vodafone liable for taxes. Vodafone sued the Indian government at the International arbitration court at Hague and this case is still going on.

Conclusion

So, to conclude this is a very complex tax case and for years, this case has been evolving. Recently a bill was tabled in the parliament to revoke the retrospective effect of 2012 amendments. The International court ruled in the favor of the Vodafone and it is at the discretion of the government whether to comply with that or not. If India taxes Vodafone for that transaction, it will ruin India’s image in ease of doing business ranking. Let’s wait for how government ultimately reacts and what will be the fate of the Vodafone. What do you think? Should government drop the case and pay damages to the Vodafone or should it demand the taxes?

Interpersonal Skills-A Way to Success

To open the doors of success,

Get out of the pleasing fake bubble,

And meet the harsh real world.

Photo by Christina Morillo on Pexels.com

There are 3 basic questions that arise in the minds of each individual when thinking about their interpersonal skills:

  • What are interpersonal skills?
  • Why is there a need to absorb these skills?
  • How to identify and improve them?

MEANING

Interpersonal skills are the skills that a person uses to interact with others. They are also referred as social skills, which helps you to interact , communicate & collaborate with others effectively. Some examples of such skills are:

  • Self confidence
  • Positive attitude
  • Empathy
  • Listening skills
  • Controlling your emotions
  • Communication skills

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

In today’s world the most important interpersonal skill is the communication skill. For an effective interaction and good relations, we need to posess and polish our communication skills. It is divided into 3 divisions:

  1. Verbal communication– To convey our thoughts and ideas to the other person, it is very important to express them clearly and precisely, either verbally or through written mediums(letters, reports, etc.)
  2. Non-Verbal communication– Not all conversations are verbal, some are also carried by non-verbal components like when we express our opinion by our gestures or body language.
  3. Effective listening– Yes, listening is also a part of communication. Only a good listener can be a good speaker, as to make others understand your viewpoint, you need to first listen theirs.

WHY TO ABSORB THEM?

We often come across various people for different purposes but our relation with them depends on our ability to handle them. The key role, here, is played by our interpersonal skills. As we grow, we possess some of these skills unconsciously while some of these has to be assimilated.

For a successful career we need to have good relations with others. A student having good social skills has many opportunity doors opened and can explore different areas. A person seeking job needs to first pass the interview round(in almost every paid job)where his interpersonal skills are tested. Even in a business, good social relations increases the chances of a longer and successful business.

Not only for our career but social skills are also important for a good personal life. Whether it is our friends, family, relatives or partners, each of them is to be handled with care by using your skills. These skills also enhances your overall personality, boosts your confidence and makes you a better person. Also some people may wonder that such skills are present in every human being by birth but that’s not true, each individual is different and such skills comes with experience. As we grow, we tend to develop them, but to make them useful you need to polish them as well.

HOW TO IDENTIFY AND IMPROVE?

By now, you may have identified some of the social skills you have. To identify these skills, the most effective way is to interact with more &more people(known and unknown)as this will help you spot your strengths and weaknesses. After doing so just pick out your strengths and practice them daily and use them to overpower you weakness. In due course of time you will see that your polished strengths have reduced and ultimately removed your weaknesses.

So just focus on your skills, improve them and conquer your dreams….

The constituent assembly passed the Constitution of India in the year 1950. Free and compulsory education for the children till 14 years of age within 10 years from the commencement of constitution wasnoted

ICMR says, Covishield, Covaxin blend can give better outcomes

The examination was led on 18 individuals who have gotten two portions of two distinct vaccines and it has not yet been peer-assessed, reports said.

The Research:

The Indian Council of Medical Research has uncovered that a blend of Covishield and Covaxin, the two fundamental antibodies of India’s Covid inoculation program, can really yield better outcomes, news organization ANI detailed. The investigation was just led on 18 individuals of Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharth Nagar, who accidentally got two dosages of two separate immunizations / Vaccines. As indicated by the finding of the examination which is yet to be peer-checked on vaccination with a blend of an adenovirus vector stage-based antibody, trailed by inactivated entire infection immunization was protected as well as inspired better immunogenicity. Covishield, fabricated by Pune’s Serum Institute of India, is the adenovirus vector stage-based antibody and Covaxin, created and made by Bharat Biotech and the ICMR, is the entire infection immunization. Covishield and Covaxin have a place with two distinct sorts.

The investigation named ‘Fortunate Covid-19 Vaccine-Mix in Uttar Pradesh, India: Safety and Immunogenicity Assessment of a Heterologous Regime’ has been transferred on medRxiv. Under this investigation, 18 individuals got two dosages of two unique immunizations, the response of which was contrasted with 40 recipients of two portions of Covishield and 40 beneficiaries of two portions of Covaxin, news organization PTI announced. The examination length was from May to June 2021, it said.

Blending of immunizations is being talked about universally, all investigations are supportive of blending two antibodies to build the insurance against future contamination. The subject master panel of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization has in July suggested a preliminary of blending Covishield and Covaxin, which will be led by the Christian Medical College in Vellore on 300 sound volunteers.

While that will be an appropriate clinical preliminary to examine the adequacy of the mixed drink of Covishield and Covaxin, the ICMR’s investigation depended on the goof-up that occurred in May. There was no prompt antagonistic effect of the misunderstanding of the recipients. Presently, further investigation has uncovered that the misunderstanding has really worked for insurance as these individuals have more security than the individuals who have gotten two shots of a similar antibody.

What WHO has to say:

The issue of blending antibodies is touchy as World Health Organization has cautioned that people ought not settle on blending immunizations. Niti Aayog part (wellbeing) Dr VK Paul had before said that hypothetically there is no issue in blending two antibodies as the second portion in such a case will function as a promoter shot. Yet, as the public authority began its immunization drive on January 16, it requested that wellbeing laborers practice outrageous alert to ensure that the recipients get the second shot of the very antibody that they got as their first shots.

What to Understand?

  • We don’t have to take two different doses of vaccine; second shot should be of the same vaccine which we got as first dose.
  • We should adhere to advice of WHO, it will benefit our health only.

Science and technology

Science and technology are important parts of our day to day life. We get up in the morning from the ringing of our alarm clocks and go to bed at night after switching our lights off. All these luxuries that we are able to afford are a resultant of Science and technology. Most importantly, how we can do all this in a short time are because of the advancement of science and technology only. It is hard to imagine our life now without science and technology. Indeed our existence itself depends on it now. Every day new technologies are coming up which are making human life easier and more comfortable. Thus, we live in an era of science and technology.

Essentially, Science and Technology have introduced us to the establishment of modern civilization. This development contributes greatly to almost every aspect of our daily life. Hence, people get the chance to enjoy these results, which make our lives more relaxed and pleasurable.

If we think about it, there are numerous benefits of science and technology. They range from the little things to the big ones. For instance, the morning paper which we read that delivers us reliable information is a result of scientific progress. In addition, the electrical devices without which life is hard to imagine like a refrigerator, AC, microwave and more are a result of technological advancement.

Furthermore, if we look at the transport scenario, we notice how science and technology play a major role here as well. We can quickly reach the other part of the earth within hours, all thanks to advancing technology.

In addition, science and technology have enabled man to look further than our planet. The discovery of new planets and the establishment of satellites in space is because of the very same science and technology.
Similarly, science and technology have also made an impact on the medical and agricultural fields. The various cures being discovered for diseases have saved millions of lives through science. Moreover, technology has enhanced the production of different crops benefitting the farmers largely.

Tips For Enrich India’s Educational System To Produce Industry-Ready Engineers

In this competitive world, everyone will go for the job not only a student but also their parents expecting the same things from their children’s from their childhood. Due to which students are not focusing on their studies, they will only concentrate on their marks to complete their engineering and get a job in an MNC. A student after his engineering, just sitting on their couch and enjoying popcorn, this mostly happens in India. But in America, they developed the methodology and industry-based coaching for every student from the very beginning which feels comfortable and effortless to work in an industry after his engineering.

Skills To Devlop

Below are some key points which lead India’s engineering education system is not to produce industry-ready engineers.

  • The businessman entered this Education world and converted to a money market.
  • Students get several alternative options to score high in their semesters like a copy in exams, paperwork by giving bribery to corrupt officials.
  • College management’s destructive policy on producing engineers deal with companies to just select a student and after few months they will terminate those employees on their performance basis.
  • Lack of planning to provide industry-based education rather focusing on the percentage of students gets their jobs in the final semester.

Our students are also lack of skills to practically work on real-time projects in their company after they pass out. It is the main reason that leads to unemployment in India. Without certain industry skills, our students never are so successful in their future. We can easily differentiate our college studies from our corporate or industrial work.To change this track,we have to conscious about key things to improve as much as possible to get hired by big companies without any confusion.

Methodology For Best Coaching

Certain things to focus on for every student:

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Improve good communication.
  • Creative thinking.
  • Acquire knowledge on practical things apart from books and college assignments.
  • Always updated according to market.
  • Eagerness for invention.
  • Workaholic nature and concentrate on learning technical skills.
  • More practice and basic training.

India sets an example by producing great engineers like Satish Dhawan, Sundar Pichai, and many more. So if we focus on those above points and extract every business person from this world, protect our education system from dishonest and fraudulent people, then we will see a better future ahead.

Life of a Language student

‘I’m learning a new language’ feels good to say right. When you tell other people that you are learning a language and they go ‘Awe that is awesome! But isn’t it difficult’ and then you reply ‘Nahh, it’s so easy and interesting (yes, I’m a born genius ())’. But who are you kidding, learning a new language is hell of a difficult job to do!!

When I started learning Japanese it was very fun, easy but as I progressed further it started becoming tough; tough, yes BUT interesting. You have no idea how good it feels to be able to watch anime without subtitles. Okay, okay sometimes I do need subtitles because I am still learning but you have to agree starting to understand a different language other than your own does feel like a great accomplishment, doesn’t it.

Now as to why I started to learn Japanese, because I AM IN LOVE WITH JAPAN, always have been ever since I was 10. I was always fascinated by it. I wanted to learn more about the country and still learning. I was a student of economics, yes I studied economics first, graduated and then currently doing my second graduation in Japanese. All of the people around me asked me ‘what the hell are you doing?’ ‘Shouldn’t you be doing your post-graduation?’ ‘Why are you wasting your time?’ and I had only one answer ‘BECAUSE I WANT TO¯\_()_/¯’.

But the truth is I realized it a little late what I actually wanted to do. I took economics because it was a very trending course and everyone around me was doing it (luckily, got the percentage for it) but after 3 years of studying I realized this wasn’t what I should be doing because I was not able to see myself anywhere. The initial idea was to learn Japanese as something extra outside of my normal academic life but it turned out to be something that I should have been doing all along. So I did. After graduating I told my parents I want to do another graduation and they happily agreed. Then for the first time in my life I had the answer to the question-‘Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years’. The picture has finally become clear to me. So do what you want to do, then only you will be able to look in the future and see yourself standing where you actually want to be. No regrets.

Five Reasons Why Internships Are So Important

Nowadays, having a degree isn’t nearly enough for you to land your dream job. Employers are not only interested in knowing what you achieved academically but they also need something extra, outside the field of academics. Doing internships has become a necessity for upping your game to land your dream job by improving your CV. And you can do so by participating in all kinds of extra-curricular activities that you do besides your studies in college and by gaining work experience be it full-time or part-time.

There are many of you out there (I hope I’m not the only one) just like me who are a bit timid or don’t really know how or why do we need to go through the process of doing internships. I myself didn’t really understand as to why we need to do internships and didn’t want to do them anyway, because doing them would mean me talking to people, something I am not very good at.

But one time I got a call from a very prestigious organization (won’t disclose the name but it was a big deal ✖‿✖). They had selected students through a seminar in our college and I had no idea about it, so when they called me for a phone interview…I.BLEW.IT. and it didn’t really bother me at that time because I wasn’t really wanting to do it, but as time passed and I started to think about my future and career it really hit hard that I wasn’t up to the level of my peers. Just studying won’t get me anywhere. Then I realized it was time to finally let go of my insecurities and start to think about how to better my CV to get to my dream.

Now let’s get to doing my job (as a part of my internship ¯\_()_/¯) which is to tell y’all why doing internships is so important, fun isn’t it, me telling you to do internships as a part of my own. But this is what makes me perfect for the job as I can put myself in your shoes and you can put yourself in mine and see for yourself that it’s not that difficult once you try.

Let’s start it off with something simple:

To learn new skills: when start doing internships, you will learn new things with every internship that you do because every job is different every jobs requirements are different which makes the environment very competitive as well. As you proceed doing different internships with different requirement you will learn a set of whole new things, which brings me to my next point.

Learning about yourself in a competitive environment: as I mentioned in the previous point that doing internships makes you learn new skills and while learning new skills and working under a competitive environment because there might be people who are already have those skills, this will indeed pressurize you to do your best, honing your skills. This will further help you in understanding yourself better and realize what you are actually good at and what you want to do long term.

Developing problem solving skills: Working under different environments will definitely help improve your problem solving ability. Thinking at your feet is a very good skill to have while on the job as it helps you to tackle problems that you face and that comes though experience. When you have had all kinds experience you become a quick thinker thus making your job easier.

Getting a taste of real working environment: this point doesn’t really need an explanation it’s self –explanatory. While doing internships you will realize what a real working job feels like. This will be your first step into the world as a working individual.

Helps in social networking: it doesn’t have to do with social networking, it is social + networking….get that? Okay in easier words, when you are on the job you meet new people and socialize with them (something I’m not very good at) which helps you increase your networking; that is how many people you know on the job which might come in handy in the future. So here you have it SOCIAL + NETWORKING

This was me telling you why doing internships is important but if you still want to know more, then it is important to do your research.

Digital marketing

Any marketing that uses electronic devices to convey promotional messaging and measure its impact. In practice, digital marketing typically refers to marketing campaigns that appear on a computer, phone, tablet, or other device. It can take many forms, including online video, display ads,and social media posts. Digital marketing is often compared to “traditional marketing” such as magazine ads, billboards, and direct mail. Oddly, television is usually lumped in with traditional marketing.

Digital marketing, also called online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication. This includes not only email, social media, and web-based advertising, but also text and multimedia messages as a marketing channel.

Digital marketing and inbound marketing are easily, and for good reason. Digital marketing uses many of the same tools as inbound marketing—email and online content, to name a few. Both exist to capture the attention of prospects through the buyer’s journey and turn them into customers. But the 2 approaches take different views of the relationship between the tool and the goal.

Digital marketing considers how each individual tool can convert prospects. A brand’s digital marketing strategy may use multiple platforms or focus all of its efforts on 1 platform.

Inbound marketing is a holistic concept. It considers the goal first, then looks at the available tools to determine which will effectively reach target customers, and then at which stage of the sales funnel that should happen.

Important dates of year , Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s Day is the festival of birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna beneficiary Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Indian Schools and Colleges direct the most fabulous celebration on Teacher’s Day. Even though the School stay open, the students get a temporary leave from the regular studies and are permitted to appreciate the day in their manner. A few students take on the appearance of their teachers and arrive at the lower classes to control the students in those classes. They do as such to help their youngsters for their upcoming tests and have a sentiment of a traditional teacher.

Students additionally decorate their School and Classes and arrange some cake and snacks for their teacher. Their teachers cut the cake, and they convey some Speech on Teachers . Singing, Dancing and other fun activities are likewise a part of the celebration of the day which students perform to engage their teachers. The students likewise present a speech to show their appreciation towards their teacher. The event of Teacher’s Day help strengthens the bond between a teacher and a student.

The First Woman Director in zoological survey of india.

The Zoological Survey of India, founded on 1 July 1916 by Government of India Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as premier Indian organisation in zoological research and studies to promote the survey, exploration and research of the fauna in the country.

Headquarters – Kolkata with 16 regional centre under the ministry of environment, forest and climate change.

The Indian government approved the appointment of Dr Dhriti Banerjee as the director of the Zoological Survey of India. She is a prolific scientist, conducting research in zoogeography, taxonomy, morphology and molecular systematics.

ZSI’s women scientists have been carrying out regular surveys exploring faunal diversity from the Himalayas to the deep sea and nearly 60% of the new species discovered are by women scientists today,” said Banerjee. “In the past century, only 20% of the total scientific staff strength in ZSI are represented by women. But their scientific contributions prove that they have played a key role in strengthening the roots of ZSI,” she said.

On breaking the glass-ceiling in this organization, she mused, “Women are blessed with unique power to strike a balance between work and family. But I was lucky to have had an exceptionally supportive one — my husband, Sughran, daughter Roinee and my parents. I am also grateful to my mentors in the organization for their guidance.”

Even though women are equal partners in scientific development and nation-building, their scientific journey around the world began only in the late 19th century. In fact, ZSI, headquartered in Kolkata with 16 regional centres under the ministry of environment, forests and climate change, started hiring women scientists as late as 1949, after more than three decades since its inception on 1 July 1916. Mira Mansukhani thus created history in an organization which until then was largely dominated by men.

While speaking to a leading daily about her new achievement, she stated that the 100-year legacy of Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) would help her to catapult the organisation to the next phase in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Since 2012, she has worked as the co-ordinator of ZSI’s Digital Sequence Information Project.

On the occasion of its centenary celebrations in 2016, Banerjee had co-authored the “The Glorious 100 Women’s Scientific Contribution in ZSI”, which chronicled the contributions of women scientists in the domain of animal related groups.

The Perfect Career

PERFECT CAREER : Myth or Reality ?

As the CBSE Results have been announced for class 12th on July 30, 2021 and of class 10th on August 3, 2021 many of the students have started searching for their further career fields and paths.

For many of us (the lucky ones) our interests and passion play a key role in finding our perfect career and for the others it might be difficult to find a passion that strong that can be converted into profession. As the date for admission for colleges and universities comes closer we all try to take as many as advices from out relatives, friends and fellowmates. But you see there is a very rare possibility that others will choose a right career for you.

So what can we do?

  1. Take a Notebook.
  2. Now write down your interests on that. Be it anything. Just remember there is a career for everything (unless it is illegal) and I am leaving that to you.
  3. After writing those down, just do a research on each one of them. Search for people with same profession over Google, LinkedIn, YouTube. Ask yourself is this really the thing you wanna spend the initial stage of my youth on. Trust me you will get the answer sooner or later.
  4. Just do not get too harsh on yourself and yeah you are allowed to change your career later on. Just do not be a puppet, what really matters is that whether you are happy or not. Have a look…

https://www.mindler.com/blog/career-change-later-in-life/

https://blog.jobbio.com/2017/08/15/people-changed-career/

5. Do not let money be the sole purpose of choosing a career. I know its difficult but give importance to other factors as well.

6. Introspect more often than observation. Every minute of your life is different than that of your friend. Your thoughts might be similar but if you will go down the road of introspection you will sooner realize how unique and different you are from anyone else. That’s true.

Therefore, in my opinion, A’s career might look perfect at a point of time. But A has to deal with a lot of challenges following that career. And then A may find B’s career as perfect who might later wanna shift his/her career. So, this is a blend of myth and reality and depends on the person, conditions and time.

Love yourself, and see how you’re gonna achieve Wonders.

JOURNALISM.

Journalism is a study of research, collection, preparation, and distribution of news and stories and features this material through print and digital media, in a form of blogs, newspapers, magazines, books, podcasts, webcast, social media sites, and also through radio, television, e-mails. Earlier, the word ‘Journalism’ was to be meant for those who used to report special events and used to write upon them. But with the evolution of television and radio and not forget about the internet, it coming more in the Digital format with a motion pictures. The 20th century includes all printed and digital formats of communication to spread the voices and stories.  In the new era, journalism seems to be a hardcore professional field of interest. With the advent of radio and television aka digital media, the press has suffered a great loss because digital communication has introduced us with the news bulletin to the public as soon as possible. The speed limit is too high, practically print media could not hope to match. We do not wait for the news like in Earlier times, we tend to know about it as soon as the incident occurs, we people do rely on these sources. Journalist puts public good above all and uses a specific method of investigation to follow the lead on the story so that it can be put in front of the public to know. It benefits the people and they check the stories and lead up to it regularly.

There are a few positives of journalism:

1. It explores the deep areas, unbiased journalism can break society’s laws and can bring the Stories from top to bottom and the deepest secret of it. It speaks about the evilness and darkness of society, which can develop people’s minds.
2. There were many ups and downs in the society due to this, but the benefit it has is to provided people an insight into economic, social, and political theories of the city, state, country, and the whole nation. Because of them, people can gather important information across the globe.
3. the government as journalists needs to help them to keep a political track of ongoing movements throughout the country and the world.

Negativity has gotten into people’s minds. The continuation of journalism is a need of an hour now. people need to differentiate the biased and unbiased journalism, as people can’t doubt and express their views on any religion, culture, or story. They are always on the urge to break the story first, with all the right data and facts. So that we don’t have to check upon it. Studies in journalism have improved and are being the priority subject. There are many types of Journalism, travel journalism, in the movie ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ the role of Ranbir Kapoor is as a travel journalist. He travels the whole world and works along with the different channels and explores them. Another is lifestyle journalism, which has every bit of genres, magazine journalism, investigative journalism, business journalism, celebrity journalism, etc. These all have meaning inside their names.
Every type of journalism has its way of acting out and functioning. For some, a person should be extremely focused on and some are kind of chill. So, it’s up to you which kind of Journalism will suit you.

BR Ambedkar: Social Justice

The contribution of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in Indian Democracy is not to be forgotten. As a Chairman of the Constitutional Committee, he gave a shape to our country of a complete Sovereign, Democratic, Republic based on an adult franchise. In the Constitution of free India all the citizens have been guaranteed social, political and economic equalities.

Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar’s name is written in gold letters throughout Indian history as the creator of social justice. Not only was he the creator of the constitution, but also the creator of social justice and the messiah of the oppressed. If Mahatma Gandhi gave us the direction and lesson of morality, then Baba Saheb shaped the social aspect without exploitation. It had, in the truest sense of the word, a democratic and antiquated goal. He spent his whole life promoting the poor, exploited untouchables. and classes with problems.
It has been a gloomy historic fact of Indian society that lower castes have been exploited and subjugated upon by the upper castes and for that reason the lower castes have mostly also been the lower classes economically and vice versa.

During the freedom movement there were many leaders and movements throughout India. The most protruding voice of and for the lower castes bad emerged in the person of B.R. Ambedkar who came from the untouchable Mahar caste in what is today Maharashtra. Even today Ambedkar is a hugely influential symbol who is followed by many political forces throughout the length and breadth of India. Ambedkar’s aim in his own words was to get justice for the ‘last, the lost and the least and he emerged as a sort of revolutionary leader of India’s Hindu untouchable and other castes. His intention was to fight for their equality and seek better-quality living conditions for them and reach education among them and get suitable representation for them in elected bodies and in government services.

During the freedom struggle. Ambedkar’s emphasis on issues related to social justice forced the leaders of the national movement to take these up as part of the agenda associated with the main demand for unshackling the country from the chains of colonialism. Ambedkar was a highly educated person with great academic accomplishments and a lawyer by training. His views on social justice are to be found in his books and speeches.
His most important works are Annihilation of Caste (1936). Who were the Shudras (1946) and The Untouchables (1948). Also, his writings like What Congress and Gandhi have done to the Untouchables. He put forward vivid well researched attacks on the exploitative Hindu caste system chiefly with respect to how untouchables were treated and struggled all his life to secure legal and constitutional safeguards for their rights. It is stimulating in spite of the fact that he had attacked Gandhi’s Congress Party’s views and attitudes on the caste system quite harshly and in a scathing manner in
his writings, despite of that Gandhiji suggested Ambedkar’s name to head the committee to draft the Constitution.

Ambedkar in his work “Who Were the Shudras?” questioned the whole Hindu social order and tried to create a theory that the Shudras were not a separate varna or caste but were originally Kshatriyas who in a struggle with Brahmins were manipulated out of the kshatriya caste by the Brahmins and were deprived of the sacred thread.
He proposed a hypothesis that the untouchables were originally disciples of Buddha and were Buddhists but the Hindus led by the Brahmins to try to undermine Buddhist influence and stop its spread put the untouchables in a corner and started branding them untouchables. He believed the root of all lack of social justice in India was the caste system that created the environment for exploitation of man by man- of the Shudras and untouchables by
the brahmins and other higher castes. He believed that democracy cannot be achieved in India without first establishing social justice through the annihilation of the caste. Hence, he took a position that contradicted both the position of Congress and Gandhiji, who first wanted political reform and independence from the British colonial government, and the socialists and Marxists who wanted economic equality also established themselves first.

Charlie Chaplin

Charles Spencer Chaplin was one of the greatest artists of the world who was born in London, England, on April 16th, 1889.

Charlie was named after his father, a British music hall entertainer. His mother, Hannah Hill Chaplin, a talented singer, actress, and piano player, spent most of her life in and out of mental hospitals; his father, Charles Spencer Chaplin Sr. was a fairly successful singer until he began drinking. After his parents separated, Charlie and his half-brother, Sidney, spent most of their childhood in orphanages.

Charlie Chaplin

Having inherited natural talents from their parents, the youngsters took to the stage as the best opportunity for a career. Charlie made his professional debut as a member of a juvenile group called “The Eight Lancashire Lads”.

In 1914, Chaplin made his film debut in a somewhat forgettable one-reeler called Make a Living. To differentiate himself from the clad of other Chaplin decided to play a single identifiable character, and “The Little Tramp” was born, with audiences getting their first taste of him in Kid Auto Races at Venice (1914).

Chaplin made 14 films, including The Tramp (1915) during his first year in the industry. Generally regarded as the actor’s first classic, the story establishes Chaplin’s character as the unexpected hero when he saves the farmer’s daughter from a gang of robbers.

“A day without laughter is a day wasted”

– Charlie Chaplin

During the 1920s Chaplin’s career blossomed even more. During the decade he made some landmark films, including The Kid (1921), The Pilgrim (1923), A Woman in Paris (1923), The Gold Rush (1925), a movie Chaplin would later say he wanted to be remembered by, and The Circus (1928).

The latter three were released by United Artists, a company Chaplin co-founded in 1919 with Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and D.W. Griffith.

Chaplin spoke even louder in The Great Dictator (1940), which pointedly ridiculed the governments of Hitler and Mussolini. “I want to see the return of decency and kindness,” Chaplin said around the time of the film’s release. “I’m just a human being who wants to see this country a real democracy . . .

He soon became a target of the right-wing conservatives. Representative John E. Rankin of Mississippi pushed for his deportation.

In 1952, the Attorney General of the United States obliged when he announced that Chaplin, who was sailing to Britain on vacation, would not permit him to return to the United States.

The incensed Chaplin said goodbye to the United States and took up residence on a small farm in Corsiersur-Vevey, Switzerland.

By the 1970s times had changed, and Chaplin was again recognized for his rich contribution to film. He returned to the United States in 1972, where he was honored by major tributes in New York City and Hollywood, California, including receiving a special Academy Award.

In 1975, he became Sir Charles Chaplin after Queen Elizabeth II (1926–) of England knighted him. Two years later, on December 25, 1977, Chaplin died in his sleep in Switzerland.

Did science and technology take over humans?

Introduction

This definitely is a very vast topic but there are some things that we need to ask ourselves. What would we do without technology? Would we be happier? Would it all be very simple? Would we never evolve? I mean when we think about it lots of thoughts intrude our minds. Let me break it down to you and let us figure out how our lives have been changed this much.

Right now, we have lots and lots of technologies, we can actually do every single duty in our day-to-day life online. We wake up, we go to work/college. Of course online! If we are hungry, we can buy food online! If we want to buy clothes, we can buy them online! everything has evolved. Science and technology have expanded to every single field like medical, education, manufacturing, businesses, and so on. But let us stop and think, life was much much simpler when there was no technology when everything was offline. In the race of human life, evolution has become very important and everyone is running for it.

Now I would like to break down the advantages and disadvantages of technology to you.

Disadvantages

  • The disadvantages are quite obvious. We are sunk into this virtual world and fail to notice the real world.
  • We rely on all these inventions and fail to accept that we have become so lazy. Of course, not everybody, People who make wise use of technology will never become lazy.
  • The human mind has both negative and positive sides. Such negative humans even misuse science for their own good. We are always told that the internet is not a safe place which is very true. As you become more of an internet person, you should not fail to look after the real world. We use the phrase “science took over humans” because one should never let science get possession of them.
  • Introducing science to children is a horrible concept according to me. Mobile phones have become pacifiers for children nowadays. The other day I was at a store and a child was crying. Her mother literally said to her other kid “Take her outside and give her a mobile phone”. This concept scares me the most. First of all, screen time should be completely avoided for kids. They shouldn’t get so fond of the virtual world even before they enter the actual world.

Advantages

  • Life becomes simple. Yeah I said before that life is simpler without technology. Either way it is simple, but one is nothing and simple, other is we have everything and technology makes it simple for us. To look on the brighter side, evolution of human life is very important. Technology really made a great contribution to that.
  • Technology improves our lives in a lot of other ways. Everyone in this world is getting benefited because of this.
  • I put disadvantages first and advantages second to let us remind ourselves despite all the disadvantages how much science has helped us improve ourselves. It is all about how efficiently we use this and not misuse it.

conclusion

This article’s main purpose is to pause and think how much we are sunk into technology. We must update ourselves according to the pace of evolution as well as use it wisely. There is good, there is bad, our duty is to stay on the good side and make this world a better place to live in.

JUST DECIDE !

The most difficult task to do , is probably making a decision . Now , we are afraid to make decisions as we are worried about it’s consequences . The whole process of deciding is an ordeal .We become indecisive . But indecision is also a decision . Here are a few ways to stop being indecisive ;

THERE NO WRONG OR RIGHT CHOICE – The main reason why we are so miserably indecisive , is because of us labelling our choices as good or bad . We are so afraid to make a wrong choice that it makes it impossible for us to make a decision as we fear our ‘wrong ‘ choices will have lethal consequences . But the truth is , there is no wrong choice . We make decisions in accordance to the level of information available to us at that particular place and time. All we need to do is , re programme our brains into thinking that each decision that we make , will be give us valuable lessons to learn form . This can seriously help us become more decisive .

TAKE YOUR TIME – When required to make a decision , we must take our time to do so . It is often believed that decisiveness means taking quick decisions , but thinking a decision through is really important . While making a decision we must take time to analyse it . So , take your time .

DON’T OVERTHINK IT -Another reason why we find it difficult to make decisions is our overthinking it’s consequences . We keep thinking about all the possible outcomes of our decisions without realising how unpredictable the future is , and that there is no point pondering about it . Just confidently make a decision and know that it will all make sense in the end .

DO WHAT SCARES YOU THE MOST – While making a decision , you must go for the one that scares you the most . If you don’t take the leap of faith , and get out of your comfort zone , you won’t grow . So if something scares you , take that as a good sign and choose that to get the best outcomes .

Recommend this book to read

In this story, there may be only one or two things which are quite easy for the readers to get suspicious. I won’t say the crime or investigation will blow your mind but you will definitely enjoy reading it and framing of the crime is well enough. I personally found the sarcastic comments made by Keshav funny and witty. It’s a novel which you wants to complete in just one sitting. If you want to read something written in simple English and which has crime, love, friendship and humour in it, this book will quench your thirst.

Effect of Music on Our Brains

Throw on some headphones, crank up the tunes, and what happens? Your toes and fingers start to tap. Maybe your head and shoulders begin to bob. Pretty soon, you might be on your feet, busting a move, joyously belting out the lyrics. Music has taken over, and your body is now along for the ride.

While it may be obvious that music impacts you physically, understanding how music and the brain interact requires deep study and an ability to probe the mysteries of the human mind. The result is a fascinating picture of the role music can play in brain development, learning, mood, and even your health.

MUSIC

Music, Our Brain, & Wellbeing

One of the first things that happens when music enters our brains is the triggering of centers that release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel happy. This response is so quick, the brain can even anticipate the most pleasurable peaks in familiar music and prime itself with an early dopamine rush.

Beyond simply making you feel good, however, there’s evidence that music can even be good for your health. Research has shown that listening to music is associated with upticks in immunity-boosting antibodies and cells that protect against bacteria and other invaders. Music has also proven to be effective across a variety of treatment scenarios for conditions ranging from depression to Parkinson’s disease.

Even in terms of brain development, music can play a key role. Training to play an instrument, for instance, is believed to increase gray matter volume in certain areas of the brain, not unlike how physical exercise can tone and enlarge muscles. As a result, musicians often experience improvement in brain functions like:

  • Auditory processing
  • Learning
  • Memory
LIVE THE MUSIC

If you’re ready to learn how to play a new instrument at home, start by finding a new or used instrument that interests you. Look up free tutorial videos online to start learning. Some great online resources available to teach you how to play the instrument of your choice include:

  • YouTube
  • GarageBand
  • Yousician
  • Simply Piano

Or, my personal favourite “guitar”.

Does Genre Matter?

Many of the beneficial effects of music on the brain are not limited to any single genre. Whether you’re listening to the smooth jazz styling of Billie Holiday on vinyl, the classic country sounds of Johnny Cash on YouTube, or The Beatles and their powerful British Invasion rock music on Spotify, different styles can produce the same results – as long as they align with your musical preferences. In this way, it’s the brain’s relationship with familiar and favored music that is key.

In other cases, the style of music can play a role. When it comes to the best music for learning, for example, experts recommend different genres for different purposes. Upbeat music, including songs with positive lyrics, can provide an energy boost and get your brain primed for learning. Once it’s time to buckle down and concentrate, however—like when you need to read, write, or study your course materials, instrumental music and soothing genres can help you stay calm and focused. Ultimately, however, each person may develop an approach to studying and music that’s uniquely suited for them.

Some places you may be able to find new music include:

  • Spotify
  • Pandora
  • YouTube
  • MoodFuse
  • SoundCloud
MUSIC IS SOOTHING

Experiencing New Music

There are several other ways you can learn about new music without plugging in your headphones. Take part in any of the following activities to explore different types of music in new ways:

  • Go to open mic nights in your community
  • Attend local concerts in your area
  • Ask your friends and family for music recommendations on your social media and have them share their favorite songs, playlists, or genres
  • Use different tools like Pandora, Spotify, MoodFuse, to find new music
TRY NEW MUSIC

Whether you play an instrument, listen to your music streaming app, or enjoy going to live concerts, music is having an active influence on your brain. So, put in your headphones, start your favorite album, and feel your dopamine levels rising. So keep jamming in to your choice of music !!!

Let’s save the water together

Water has become a highly necessary part of human being’s existence on Earth. Thus, the importance of water can be compared to the importance of air. All living organisms whether it is human, animals, or plants. Everyone is completely depending on fresh and potable water.

1. Turn off the taps

Leaving a tap running while brushing teeth uses 6 litres of water a minute. And by fixing a dripping tap you can save over 60 litres of water a week.

2. Boil what you need

Only boils has many cups of water as you need for yourself or your tea round- you’ll be saving water, money, energy.

3. Shower with less

It’s easy to linger in the shower when you’re sleepy in the morning- four minute timers can help. And switching to an efficient shower head will allow you to lather up in less water.

4. Save up your dirty clothes

Washing a full machine load of clothes uses less water and energy than 2 half-loads. This means lower bills as well.

5. Get a low-flush toilet

The average UK household flushes the loo 5,000 times per year. Modern dual-flush systems use just 6 litres or 4 with a reduced flush , much less than the 13 litres for each old-style flush.

6. Eat less meal

Rearing animals of meat and dairy is incredibly water-intensive. By cutting down on the amount of meat you eat, you could slash your water use drastically.

7. Steam your veggies

As well as using less water than boiling, steaming retains more nutrients. If you do boil, try adding the water used as a tasty stock to soups. Or let it cool and use it to water house or garden plants.

8. Reduce food waste

It takes a lot of water to produce our cereal, fruit and other food. More than half of the 7 million tonnes of food and drink UK households bin every year could be eaten. So plan a week’s menu and go shopping with a list – get more handy advice from love food hate waste.

9. Time your gardening

Water outdoor plants in the early morning or at the end of the day. This stops water evaporating straight away in sunlight and heat. Also, water onto the soil rather than leaves. This makes sure the liquid goes straight to the roots, where it’s needed.

10. Catch rainwater

Installing water butts saves you turning on the tap to water the garden – saving up to 5,000 litres of water a year. And your plants will thank you for rainwater rather than treated tap water. You can also cut water use by 35% by watering plants manually instead of using automatic sprinklers.

INTELLECUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

WHAT IS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY?

Intellectual property refers to the product of the mind, which is distinct from the usual notations of the property. These products could be inventions, artistic and literary works, designs and symbols, names, and images used in commerce. Intellectual property is in tangible form and cannot be sensed by other people since it is valuable to the original creator. The main purpose of intellectual property is to encourage the innovation of products.

WHY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS ARE NEEDED?

  1. The intellectual property law provides the exclusive rights of the products to the creator.
  2. These rights provide legal ownership to the authors.
  3. Without IP protection, third parties can easily exploit your products.
  4. Patent protection is important to encourage the disclosure of information to the public which may be useful to the inventors to improve the product.
  5. It provides growth in areas of research, innovation, and employment.

TYPES OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

  1. PATENT

A patent is the exclusive rights given to the invention i.e, a product or process that provides the new solution for the problem. It gives them rights to the owner to protect their product from making, using, selling by other people for a limited period of years. The lifetime of a patent for a patentee is 20 years. The patentee must properly include the claims by pointing out the novelty of your idea. This is important because it provides the legal protection of the patent in case of infringements. A patent is given by checking the criteria like the novelty of the idea, the presence of inventive step, and its commercial applicability. A patent is given by regional and national patent offices like the Indian patent office, European patent office, and African Regional Intellectual Property Organization.

2. INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Design refers to the shape, size, pattern or ornament, or composition of lines or colors or combinations applied to any two-dimensional or three-dimensional products or for both through the industrial process by manual or chemical or mechanical, which a finished article is judged by the eye.

3. COPYRIGHTS

Copyrights are given to the author to protect their ownership of their product. Copyrights are given by verifying the tangible form of work and original authorship of the work. Copyrights are given to expressions and not to ideas or procedures or any mathematical concepts. Some of the copyrighted works are literary works, dramatical works, musical works, pictorial, graphical, and sculptural works, motion pictures, and architectural works. The duration of copyrights is 60 years.

4. TRADEMARKS

Trademarks are distinctive signs used by a company or industry which cannot be used by others. Trademarks could be distinctive combinations of words or letters or numerals, distinctive shapes or signs, non-visible signs like sound, taste, smell, and collective marks and certification marks. Trademark ensures the owners of the marks the exclusive rights to identify goods and services. The lifetime of a trademark is 10 years.

5. TRADE SECRETS

Trade secrets refer to the information including a formula, pattern, compilation, method, device, technique, or process that derives the independent economic value. It should not be readily accessible to other persons who can easily attain economic value by disclosing it. Some of the manufacturing secrets are Research and Development (R&D) information, Proprietary information about production/process, quality control information. Some of the commercial secrets include employee/vendor/partner information, infrastructure and organization information, internal financial information, and sales and marketing information.

Developing Positive Personal attitude

Every person on this earth wants to be successful in their life, but very few reach that
point as not everyone has what it takes to be successful. It demands some basic
characteristics which separate achievers from others. These characteristics can be
developed over time, if a person has the willpower for it.
Time management is one of the most crucial quality, a person needs in order to keep
up with their goal. It means carefully planning out the tasks to be completed over a
specified time frame. This would include prioritization of certain tasks which may be
more important or urgent, or they may be just the prerequisites for others. As soon as
I wake up everyday, I carefully list down the tasks and activities of the day. It may not
be exact as always some unexpected things pop up, but that can be adjusted so it’s
just a rough estimate for the day. For me, it gives a sense of satisfaction and
completion at the end of the day. And it helps me to keep a track of what I have to do
and what has been done. So, after I finish up all the tasks of the day, it is easier to carry
on an analysis of my efficiency, strengths and weaknesses. There will always be room
for improvement and next day I can add what has been left and deduct what is
redundant.
“Choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is going to determine how
you’re going to live your life” – APJ Abdul Kalam. It is said that attitude is what defines
your next move. Winners don’t do different things, they just do those things in a
different manner. For me, having a positive attitude is like the backbone to my
accomplishments, there are days when life is hard upon us, there are struggles, there
are moments when being cheerful isn’t easy. It is hard to maintain that energy level
and dedication to pursue our goals. But if one has the positive insight into it, an
attitude which says ” yes I can do it”, then things become exponentially easy. For me
the source of inspiration and positivity comes from reading books and novels. Even
some electronic media sources like YouTube and selective entertainment content has
helped me to sail through hardships. It very much depends upon what you grasp in
these things. A positive attitude is not something that can be bought as a package from
some institution or college, it is something we need to develop, and our surroundings,
what we eat, what we watch, what we read affects it a lot. Past experiences may also
create a strong influence on it accordingly

THE FAME.

A few years ago all celebrities were the only once, considered as influencers, they were paid to promote their brand and attach their equality. The term celebrities include actors, musicians, and athletes. This is nearly impossible to accept the change in relationship over a few years. It has changed the way of approaching the talent of people. With the change in generation, selection habits, and wants, influencer marketing is taking a high pitch with a new level of potential to navigate the leverage of third-party audiences. Influencers are the new celebrity, they are godly followed by a new generation, ‘The gen Z’s’. They have new tastes with modern twists to attract young and powerful consumers. Research says that almost all of the young crowd are following multiple influencers on social media sites.

There are tons of videos regarding fashion trends, make-up tutorials, what is in trend and whatnot, etc. The reason for watching and following them is inspirational, gaining knowledge about new trends and being exposed to fun, interesting content will increase your confidence and will also let you know about pros and cons. Another reason is people and young crowds are interested in how they live, what do they do in their lives and how much wealth do they have. Nowadays, watching all these influencers and their influencing videos is inspiring tons of people not only teenagers and young ones but also includes adults, kids. Amongst this, most of the men prefer gaming videos, the influencers of the same are also available and getting on a high pitch. And most of the women/girls here are majorly into make-ups, latest fashion trends, cooking, etc. For an influencer to impact consumer’s choice they must be authentic as in appearance, should have an engaging personality, fan following must rank high and with genuine care and interest in people’s choices. These all are the traits that ought to have in an influencer to influence.

For Gen Z, YouTube influence, an Instagram influencer is more popular than major celebrities. Influencers and YouTubers like PewDiePie, Kylie Jenner, Bhuvan Bam, Komal Pandey, Ashish Chanchlani, Mostlysane, Dixie d’amelio, etc, are quite famous for their specific genres. It does say that influencers are more trusted than celebrities. There are many pages on Instagram and Facebook, where they sell clothes, bags, footwear, bags, and many more shopping items. These are worn by Influencers and accordingly get famous and known, from where people buy as they trust the Influencers. Eighty-eight % says that consumer learns about the product through social media.
Consumer themselves has expressed to be an influencer. A category of Influencer is, one should have followers of 5,000 to 10,000 or more. Becoming an influencer is easy than a celebrity. Though no work is easy. Brand partnering with celebrities is nothing new, it is more crucial because of the rising of Influencers. Thus, the decision-making should be strong enough that how to combine both celebrities and Influencers mix.

Researchers are coming closer to being able to record your dreams.

Source: Google

We are living in odd times. Scientists are making significant progress on recording people’s dreams, and they’re a lot closer than you might believe.

Moran Cerf, an Israeli neurologist at Northwestern University, researches decision-making processes in both awake and sleeping humans. Cerf said he is putting electrodes on the brains of persons undergoing brain surgery as part of his research to “listen to activity of specific brain cells.” This allows him to get a sense of what individuals are thinking. “We may assume you dreamed about your mother and father,” said Cerf, a Tel Aviv University alumnus. “However, we’re not sure what your mother was wearing.”

Those visuals may get clearer in the near future. Kyoto University’s Yukiyasu Kamitani is a Japanese researcher. Using a gadget that detects brain activity, he has already begun reconstructing images from a waking person’s mind. He wants to use the same technology to record his dreams.

And scientists don’t need to go into your skull to figure out what’s going on. You’re paralysed during REM sleep, so you can’t act out your dreams. When you dream about running away from a dinosaur, though, your brain still sends electrical signals to your legs instructing them to move.

“Nerve impulses are still travelling to those muscles,” said Daniel Oldis, a lucid dream researcher at the University of Texas who collaborated with David M. Schnyer, an American neuroscientist. These signals are being measured by Oldis and Schnyer. They’re also looking at the signals in people’s lips and throats to see what they’re saying in their dreams.

So, when will you be able to witness your fantasies come true? This will most likely happen in stages. According to Cerf, you could have a device that tells you what you dreamed about in a general sense in a few months to a year. You’ll probably have to wait decades for a true dream cinema.

Naturally, this poses a slew of concerns. Will you be able to peek into other people’s dreams? Will businesses begin to place advertisements into our dreams in the near future?

It all comes down to who’s by your side.

Fifty-seven-year-old London Carter takes us back to his teenage life in North Carolina, where he still lives. He is a son of a Congressman and a complete stranger to his father. Jamie Sullivan, daughter of Hegbert Sullivan, is misunderstood by all the kids of her age. Fate brings them together through unexpected turns and events. The religious fanatic falls for the young naughty Landon and changes him. Eventually, they promise to accompany each other in life’s walk. Nicholas Sparks does not fail to make the readers cry. Jamie Sullivan is found to be ill. Did death steal her else did a miracle save her? Either way, their walk is to be remembered forever…

“First you will smile, and then you will cry — don’t say you haven’t been warned.”

– Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember

Youth is never fun without mistakes, but there comes a time when incidents strike your heart so hard and make you feel regret. Nicholas Sparks does magic through his words and takes the readers forty years back through Landon’s voice. By this, the readers get to see the development of Landon over the years and his eventful seventeenth year in North Carolina, “one of the beautiful places in the world.” A Walk to Remember is not just a book about love. It is a story about growth and forgiveness in which the protagonist undergoes a massive change after a turbulent youth. Jamie Sullivan is boring and seem to have an uneventful life. As the plot progresses, her real character is revealed, her interests make the readers develop respect for her.

When the universe decides to make hearts collide, there is not a single thing that could stop it. In such a way, Landon and Jamie are thrown together and made to take chances. Even the smallest of the incidents in one’s life make way for a change and how one reacts to the changes is all about growth. Decision-making plays a role in shaping the future. The author reminds the readers that one must listen to his heart while making decisions. Life’s surprises make the heart suffer and heal, but importantly it makes you believe. Love makes one grow a belief in his soulmate, his friends, his family, and himself. The themes, logic, and love must not be missed out while analyzing the text. Landon always tells himself that Jamie is just a religious fanatic. Yet he finds her strangely attractive and, it is all the heart takes to fall in love defying logic. A walk to remember makes the readers smile, love, and weep at the same time.

“I’m sorry she never got her miracle. She did get her miracle, Landon, her miracle, was you.”

– Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember.

A Walk to Remember revolves around love and friendship. This book will strangely attract anyone irrespective of age and specific genre reader. Readers will want to finish the book in a single sitting and get lost in the pages to find themselves. It might be a bittersweet love story, but you will definitely fall in love with the book. I would strongly recommend anyone to read Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember and never forget. Happy remembering!

THE PRESENCE OF THE U.S. MILITARY TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN.

AFGHANISTAN: BACKGROUND AND U.S. POLICY ( in brief )

Afghanistan emerged as a significant U.S. foreign policy concern in 2001, when the United States, in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, led a military campaign against Al Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban government that harbored and supported it. in the intervening 19 years, the United States has suffered over 22,000 military casualties in Afghanistan and congress has appropriated approximately $144 billion for reconstruction and security forces there. In that time, an elected Afghan government has replaced the Taliban; improvement in most measures of human development is limited; and future prospects of gains remain mixed.

The United States and its international partners are removing their military forces from Afghanistan as part of a withdrawal announced by President Biden on April 14, 2021, heralding a possible end to the nearly two-decade U.S. military presence in the country. In a February 2020 agreement with the Taliban, the Trump Administration preventing other groups, including Al Qaeda, from using Afghan soil to recruit, train, or fundraise toward activities that threaten the United States or its allies.

INTRODUCTION :-

This report provides background information and analysis on U.S. policy in Afghanistan, with a focus on the ongoing U.S. military withdrawal and its implications for a number of factors, including :

  • security dynamics and the ongoing conflict between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
  • the social and political gains made in Afghanistan since 2001; and
  • intra- Afghan negotiations, which began in Doha, Qatar, in September 2020, but appear tp have since stalled.

The report also provides information on question about the future of U.S. development and security aid to Afghanistan.

BACKGROUND : U.S.- TALIBAN AGREEMENT

After more than a year of negotiations, U.S. and Taliban representatives signed a bilateral agreement on February 29, 2020, agreeing to two “interconnected” guarantees : the withdrawal of all U.S. and international forces by May 2021, and unspecific Taliban action to prevent other groups from using Afghan soil to threaten the United States and its allies.

In the months after the agreement, several U.S. officials asserted that the Taliban were not fulfilling their commitments under the accord, especially with the regard to Al Qaeda. U.S. officials also described increased Taliban violence as “not consistent” with agreement. Although no provisions in the publicly available agreement address Taliban attacks on U.S. forces in non- public annexes accompanying the accord. Some lawmakers have raised questions about the executive branch’s decision to classify these annexes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Austrian-born American bodybuilder, film actor, and politician who rose to fame through roles in blockbuster action movies and later served as governor of California (2003-11).

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the world most famous bodybuilder. He began bodybuilding at the age of 15. He was awarded the title of Mr. Universe at the age of 20 and went on to win the Mr. Olympia contest a total of seven times.

One day he saw a magazine of Reg Park and immediately knew that he wanted to look like Reg Park. He became obsessed with Reg Park’s huge, massive look and started training hard. His father was a police officer, he wanted him to go to the military. So in 1965 , at the age of 18 he went to military to became a tank driver. He wanted to become the most muscular man in the World. So he trained his body every day during his military period. In the year 1966 Arnold left the junior-league and participated in the professional league. He was invited to go to Stuttgat to the Junior Mr. Europe championship and from there his bodybuilding career started to take off.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

He had real achievements considering a 19-year-old debutant. He became “Best built man of Europe” and won “The International Body-Building Competition“, both in Germany. Arnold realized that he had the chance to be the best built man in the world. So he travelled in the same year to London, where he wanted to win the Mr. Universe competition. When he arrived a lot of fans and other body builders surrounded the newcomer of the bodybuilding business. Arnold felt that he was something special, and that he was ready to be Mr. Universe. Unfortunately Chet Yorton left beat Arnold Schwarzenegger. He persuaded the judges with his unique show. So Arnold trained his body to make it more and more imposing. He created new training methods to train some more muscles.

Prepared to win he travelled one year later, in 1967, back to London again, to beat Chet Yorton. But there was a new rival in the competition, Denis Tinerino. Before the contest even started everybody thought, Arnold wouldn’t have the chance to win against Denis. However Arnold was enthusiastic enough to win. Arnold realized, that being the best is as important as having the desire to win. Furthermore he defeated the Mr Olympia title seven years. In 1981 he finally quit his bodybuilding career.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has allowed his bodybuilding publicity to help him achieve success in other careers.

In 1970 Arnold plays his first role in a film called Hercules in New York. Schwarzenegger played the lead, but another actor was used to dub his dialog. Schwarzenegger’s native charm and wit finally came through in the acclaimed documentary Pumping Iron (1977), which led to his starring role in Conan the Barbarian (1982). He became an international star with The Pumping Terminator (1984) and over the next 20 years appeared in two sequels (1991 and 2003). His other films during this time included Predator (1987), Kindergarten (1990), Total Recall (1990), True Lies (1994), and The 6th Day (2000).

THE MOST INTRIGUING STORIES FROM GREEK MYTHOLOGY .

Greek Mythology has the most interesting set of stories , be it revenge , punishment , love , repent , they literally have it all in the most intense form. Here are few of my picks ,

THE FALL OF ICARUS – Daedalus was a very skillful architect and inventor , who had a son named Icarus . He was the creator of the infamous labyrinth , which he had made for the king of Crete , Minos . This labyrinth was so complex that even Daedalus failed to find a way out , which made King minos angry and he and his son were hence condemned to live in the labyrinth for the rest of their lives . Being the ingenious inventor that he was , he came up with an escape route – a pair of wings . He built 2 pair of wings with wax and feathers . Daedalus gave his son clear instructions – not to fly too close to the sea and nor to fly too close to the sun . Once Icarus had his wings on , he felt euphoric , and started flying too high . The wings gave him so much freedom , he felt invincible , and became completely unaware of his father’s warnings . And as he flew higher , the sun’s heat started melting the wax , and he tragically plunged into his death , in the ocean below .

PROMETHEUS – Prometheus is the titan God of fire . Zeus had ordered him to create man with water and earth which he successfully did , but as a result he started getting found of immortals and did not care much about the Gods anymore . Zeus did not want humans to have any extraordinary powers , but prometheus very much did . He decided to steal one of the powers Zeus was very sensitive about – fire .Prometheus was know for his wit and intelligence and he came up with a plan to steal fire in no time . He targeted the Goddesses , he threw a golden apple into the courtyard which had the words “for the most beautiful goddess “engraved . This created a huge rift between the goddess , and while all of them were busy here , he sneaked in Hephaestus’s workshop and stole fire , and then gave it to the humans . Zeus was infuriated , he had forgiven him plenty of times , but not anymore . He made Hephaestus chain Prometheus on Mount Caucasus , where eagles would eat his liver .

PANDORA’S BOX – Pandora was created as a punishment , because Prometheus had given the humans fire after stealing it from the Gods . She was the first woman created on earth , and was created by Gods who each blessed her with a gift . Hephaestus created her from clay , and shaped her perfectly . Goddess Aphrodite gave her femininity , while Goddess Athena taught her crafts .She was given a special box ( pithos), by the Gods . They told her that this box contained special gifts from them , but she was not supposed to open the box , not under any circumstance . Pandora was very curious ,and unfortunately she gave into her curiosity and opened the box . She was completely petrified as she saw evil spirits coming out , which were basically all the illness and hardships that the Gods had put in the box. She tried closing the box as fast as possible ,and while doing so hope remained in the box .

Good evening people

How are you all feeling ,I hope everyone are safe and doing well in this pandemic. 🙂 So today I am back with a new article .I will give you all a hint about my article ,just try to guess it , today’s article is upon a strongest personality who is otherwise called as the creator of people …..hmmm think think …yes absolutely correct today’s article is on the person who created us and that person is a WOMEN

WOMEN

  • Women are the sunlight, because they are born to light the world.
  • Women are the moonlight, because they shows us the way when the whole world is dark.
  • Women are the gift of god, because of them we are here o hear this lines.
  • Women are sacrificing themselves to make others happy
  • Women work to make us comfort, women pray for our well being, women entertain to make us entertain, women plays many roles in a very well manner.
  • As a Daughter
  • As a Mother
  • As a Sister
  • As a Teacher

But why she is not being safe in this world ?

  • People pray to God Lakshmi for wealth
  • People pray to God Saraswathi for education
  • People pray to God Durga for strength

If they can pray these women Gods for happy life then why do they forget to understand that women who is as equal to the great god . A women , too fights for the family, educate people, work for family for a good wealth then why do people ignores the real God who is in front of them and still goes in front of their idols of goddesses for their well being .

A women faces lots of problems in those nine months and gives birth to the child. Still nobody cares for her. There is no safety for her. If she weare salwar  she is been raped , if she wear saree she is been rapes and if she wears jeans top she is been raped, then dude the problem is not with women it is  with the people who rape , it is the problem with the society who judges women for their grooming , it’s the problem with their mentality who cannot differentiate what is right or what is wrong. No other person is stronger than a women. A women is the idol of love she is the goddess of happiness.

Some men think that if a women is working instead of him then it bring disgrace to him. The society of some men can never understands the Worth of women . For those men women are just a human machine who should work day and night to others comfort. No one cares but the reality is that the whole world is dependent on women. So the society has to update their mentality because the women are not born to work only as a housewife , just try to give her the chance she will definitely bring glory to you as well for the country.

Women are made to be loved not to be surpressed. Women are the actual architect of the society .

“Women came out of a man’s rib not from his feet to be walked on and definitely not from his head to be superior but she is born to be his side equal and walk equally with her equal rights”.

“Respect and love to women is the direct way to respect God”.

A Beautiful Mind

An extremely fascinating and inspiring journey of a young scholar from Bluefield, West Virginia, United States. “A Beautiful Mind” is an American biographical drama film based on the life of John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in economics and a math prodigy.

The film is well-directed in and of itself, but the plot is what drew me in the most. It begins with John’s graduation days in Princeton University and proceeds to his wanderings in his research about some particular intriguing areas. John Nash was bright, but others found his anti-social conduct repulsive. Even the colleagues who found him annoying couldn’t deny he was going to make a name for himself. Nash loved to spend his time alone with his ideas, which consisted largely of visualizing mathematical formulas linked with ordinary events. Charles, his roommate at Princeton, and Alicia Larde, one of his pupils at M.I.T. in the early 1950s, were two persons with whom he struck up a friendship. John Nash eventually married Alicia Larde.

Nash’s mental health rapidly deteriorates. He develops hallucinations, perceiving patterns in everyday events and believing he is getting signals from foreign governments and aliens. He begins sending incoherent letters to international authorities, talking about world governance and risks to world peace. Tragically, his conduct became increasingly unpredictable and compulsive just as his career was taking off. After being diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia, his life started crumbling down around him. Alicia, John’s wife stands by his side, helping him to recover.

The Dangerous Gaming Addiction

It’s great to do things you enjoy. But can you go too far with a hobby? And at what point does it become an addiction? That’s the question we should try answering about playing video games.

Even though gaming has been around for almost 50 years, studies about its harms are still in the early stages. Different groups have come to different conclusions about whether problem playing should be called an addiction.

Video games have captured the imagination of human’s since the 1970s, with the introduction of very simple games. Although the graphic features of these basic programs were primitive compared to today’s complex, multifaceted games, many children, teens, and adults quickly became enthralled with this new pastime.

It soon became apparent that video games had the potential to consume a large amount of time as the players tried repeatedly to win. Today, video game addiction has been recognized as a process addiction similar to compulsive gambling, in which the rush of winning becomes one of the primary motivations for playing.

In the early days of video games, most games were available only on arcade machines, which were not accessible 24 hours a day. These days, games are one of the most popular features of social network sites, and they can be played almost continuously on handheld game devices, personal computers, or smart phones.

Video games have become much more elaborate, with rich alternate worlds, multiple characters, and complicated storylines. Introverted children or teens may find that they can avoid interacting with “real”peers by engaging primarily with other online players, in the guise of characters with awe-inspiring gifts and powers.

Addiction

When Gaming Becomes an Addiction

The source of the addictive quality of gaming is still unknown, but researchers propose that the process of playing and winning these games may trigger a release of dopamine, a brain chemical that elevates mood and provides a rush of energy. Dopamine is the same neurotransmitter involved in other addictive activities, such as alcohol or drug abuse.

Video game addiction is not currently recognized as an addictive disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the definitive guide to psychiatric illness.

But an obsessive preoccupation with games at the expense of real-life activities or obligations shares some of the characteristics of addictive behavior.

How can we when gaming has stopped being simple entertainment and become an addiction? Here are a few of the key warning signs to look out for:

  • Poor performance at school, work, or household responsibilities as a result of a preoccupation with gaming
  • Neglect of other hobbies or friendships
  • A decline in personal hygiene or grooming
  • Inability to set limits on how much time is spent gaming
  • Signs of irritability, anxiety, or anger when forced to stop gaming, even for brief periods of time
  • The need to spend more time playing games or to play more intensely in order to get the same level of enjoyment
  • Symptoms of physical or psychological withdrawal, such as loss of appetite, sleeplessness, agitation, or emotional outbursts if the game is taken away
  • Using video games as a way to escape stressful situations at work or school, or conflicts at home

Children and teenagers aren’t the only ones who can be vulnerable to video game addiction. Adults may also play video games for hours instead of engaging in work activities, pursuing hobbies, or devoting time to their partners or children.

When adults are no longer able to control the amount of time they spend on video games, or when their jobs or relationships begin to suffer as a result of video gaming, they may have crossed the line from recreation to addiction.

Effect of gaming addiction

Conclusion

Video games have had a tremendous impact — both positive and negative — on the cultural attitudes, psychological development, and lifestyle choices of both children and adults.

While these games can be viewed as a risk to players’ physical or emotional health, they have also been promoted as effective educational tools and have even been used for physical or cognitive rehabilitation in clinical settings. Yet for individuals who have become caught in a cycle of compulsive gaming, video games can become destructive.

The growing popularity of video games has created a new awareness of the problem of compulsive gaming, which in turn has led to the development of treatment programs for this addictive process.

Treatment for video game addiction focuses on behavioral modification therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), that guide the patient away from the obsessive thought patterns and obsessive habits of addiction.

Group therapy is a valuable source of motivation and moral support, especially for individuals who have lost contact with friends or peers as a result of their game addiction. Family or marriage counseling can help educate loved ones about the disorder and create a more stable home environment.

Why MS Dhoni is greatest of all time!

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest cricketers and one of the world’s best captains, retired from cricket last year on Independence day (Aug 15). But tales of his adventures are still on the tongue of every cricket lover. He achieved everything that every cricketer dreams in his 16-year career. Apart from being a great wicketkeeper, his captaincy was also excellent. Dhoni played 538 matches for India in his career, in which he scored 17,266 runs with the help of 16 centuries.

‘Mahi’, as Mahendra Singh Dhoni is popularly known, was born on 7th July, 1981 to Pan Singh and Devaki Dev at Ranchi in Bihar (now Jharkhand). Dhoni’s parents had moved to Ranchi from Uttarakhand where his father works in a junior management position in Mecon. He has a sister and a brother.

Lets read why MS Dhoni is the greatest Indian cricketer of all time.

Major ICC Trophies as Captain

MS Dhoni is the only captain in the history of Cricket to win all ICC trophies. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World T20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

He’s the best captain we’ve had

No cricket captain in the past has been as successful as Dhoni across all formats of cricket. As of today, his captaincy boasts of two world titles in 50-over ODI cricket, one world title in the T20 format besides Champions League and IPL, where he holds two titles in each format. If this isn’t enough for you, remember that it was under Dhoni’s captainship that put us on top of ICC Test Cricket rankings.

He is India’s highest impact ODI player

According to ‘Impactindex’, MS Dhoni is India’s most high impact ODI cricket player, followed by Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar. Purely as a batsman, he stands behind Sachin and Virat. But it’s his varied skill-set that makes him the most impactful player of the lot.

He created the ‘Helicopter shot’

Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s helicopter shot has been emulated a number of times by fans and his teammates as well, whether in the nets or during the match. Dhoni’s helicopter shot became a rage in mid 2000s when he first played during his long hair days. Dhoni’s style and flamboyance gave that shot its name and made it famous more than any other cricketer’s signature shot.

The world’s greatest workload

From 2008 to 2014, Dhoni was the captain-cum-wicket-keeper-cum-attacking-batsman of the Test, ODI, T20 teams of India, whilst leading the IPL team Chennai Super Kings. That’s around 300 matches for India and 100 for CSK. Many international players have wilted with just half of this workload and chosen to retire early in the face of such pressure.

World’s greatest wicket-keeper

An oft-overlooked fact: MS Dhoni has a record of 700 international catches plus stumpings in the three formats and no other Indian wicket-keeper comes close. He is always alert and outwits the batsman by hitting the stumps when he sees a player out of the crease – especially after he has taken a spectacular catch and the umpire doesn’t yield!

Team India’s Phoenix

But more than mere records, it is his influence on Indian cricket that will outlive him. His cool-as-a-cucumber attitude has rubbed off on his team. Ganguly’s aggression followed by Dhoni’s “no fear cricket” (in the words of Aussie legend Ian Chappell) have transformed Indian cricket. When we were eliminated in the 2007 ODI WC, Dhoni took us out of the gloom and won us the T20 WC, which arguably ushered in the T20 revolution. In the 2007 Tests at Lord’s too we were on the verge of losing and Dhoni’s 76 off 159 helped us draw the match with one wicket to spare. We won the series and subsequently became Test No 1. Dhoni is the lone Indian captain who made winning a habit. After the debacle of 0-8, the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and the 4-0 Australia whitewash (which featured his record double century) he brought back Team India’s winning streak after a dark cricketing period. When the opposition had figured out his attacking game, he transformed it to return to the reckoning. They threw stones at his house (not once, but twice), badgered him as captain, dragged him to court over a magazine cover, but he came out of every storm – dignified and unhurt. Dhoni is the most complex cricketer in the world as also the most thrilling – and inevitably the greatest!

Spectacular things that Legendary Cricketers say about MS Dhoni:

“Dhoni Is The Best Captain I Have Played Under.”

Sachin Tendulkar

“Dhoni Is My Hero. We talk a lot about Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, But this boy has as much talent as anyone in the game.”

Kapil Dev

“I Would Go To War With Dhoni By My Side.”

Gary Kirsten

“As Far As One-Day Cricket Is Concerned, Dhoni Is One Of The Greatest Captains Of All Times”

Sourav Ganguly

“I Am Really Gifted To Play Under The Leadership Of MS Dhoni.”

Michael Hussy

“I will pay to watch MS Dhoni Bat. Dhoni is not the next Gilchrist. He’s the first MS Dhoni.”

Adam Gilchrist

“Need A Six In Pressure Situation? Call MS DHONI.”

Ramiz Raja

“If Dhoni plays till the end, one thing is for sure. He will make his team Win.”

Harsha Bhogle

“If 15 Runs Are Needed Off The Last 6 Balls, Pressure Is On The Bowler & Not On MS Dhoni”

Ian Bishop

You can not describe him or cover all his achievements through the words.. He is a Living Legend and you know what is Dhoni’s biggest achievement that even if 37 runs in 6 balls were needed, people used to say “Dhoni Sambhal Lega Yaar!”.

Goa and its beauty

I have been living in Goa at my sister’s place for the last 3 months and I must Goa is so much more than the beaches and alcohol that Goa is famous for.

Goa has changed my way of living and thinking in these last three months in a way that I would have never expected. It is a place where everybody goes to work on the weekdays and enjoy their life at weekends. The people in Goa are so much comfortable in their skin and not caring what others say to them.

Goa as a place is a very chill and calm place where nobody is in a rush and everybody is up for a talk anywhere and everywhere. It is a place with trees and greeneries all around with monsoon season making them look more beautiful. The place looks so beautiful in the monsoon that nobody could imagine though beaches look scary in monsoon.

Every old Goa house has a touch of Portuguese culture and architecture which makes the house so beautiful and cute that you would just want to stay there.

Goan Authentic food is a delight here but if you are a North Indian like me and expect a good Kebab Parantha or Biryani then you will be disappointed as hell. If you are having a meal here, stick to its speciality and you will love it. Bakeries of Goa are the best, you enter the bakery and the smell of freshly baked bread and chocolate will just mesmerise you.

Goa is a place to relax and catch up on your life which you lost in the busy schedule of your metropolitan city. My only suggestion to the people who are coming to Goa is that just don’t sit on the beach and drink beer, please roam about in the city and enjoy its Vada Pav and its trees and especially the roads of Goa.
