Religion

Religion is a socialcultural system of designated behaviors and practices, moralsbeliefsworldviewstextssanctified placespropheciesethics, or organizations, that relates humanity to supernaturaltranscendental, and spiritual elements; however, there is no scholarly consensus over what precisely constitutes a religion.

Different religions may or may not contain various elements ranging from the divine, sacred things, faith,a supernatural being or supernatural beingsor “some sort of ultimacy and transcendence that will provide norms and power for the rest of life”.Religious practices may include ritualssermons, commemoration or veneration (of deities and/or saints), sacrificesfestivalsfeaststrancesinitiationsfunerary servicesmatrimonial servicesmeditationprayermusicartdancepublic service, or other aspects of human culture. Religions have sacred histories and narratives, which may be preserved in sacred scriptures, and symbols and holy places, that aim mostly to give a meaning to life. Religions may contain symbolic stories, which are sometimes said by followers to be true, that may also attempt to explain the origin of life, the universe, and other phenomena. Traditionally, faith, in addition to reason, has been considered a source of religious beliefs.

There are an estimated 10,000 distinct religions worldwide.About 84% of the world’s population is affiliated with ChristianityIslamHinduismBuddhism, or some form of folk religion. The religiously unaffiliated demographic includes those who do not identify with any particular religion, atheists, and agnostics. While the religiously unaffiliated have grown globally, many of the religiously unaffiliated still have various religious beliefs.

The study of religion comprises a wide variety of academic disciplines, including theologycomparative religion and social scientific studies. Theories of religion offer various explanations for the origins and workings of religion, including the ontological foundations of religious being and belief.

Psychology of colour

Certain colors have been associated with increased blood pressure, increased metabolism, and eyestrain. So how exactly does color work? How is color believed to impact mood and behavior?

What Is Color Psychology?

In 1666, English scientist Sir Isaac Newton discovered that when pure white light passes through a prism, it separates into all of the visible colors. Newton also found that each color is made up of a single wavelength and cannot be separated any further into other colors.

Further experiments demonstrated that light could be combined to form other colors. For example, red light mixed with yellow light creates an orange color. Some colors, such as green and magenta, cancel each other out when mixed and result in a white light.

If you have ever painted, then you have probably noticed how certain colors can be mixed to create other colors.

“Given the prevalence of color, one would expect color psychology to be a well-developed area,” researchers Andrew Elliot and Markus Maier have noted. “Surprisingly, little theoretical or empirical work has been conducted to date on color’s influence on psychological functioning,1 and the work that has been done has been driven mostly by practical concerns, not scientific rigor.”

Despite the general lack of research in this area, the concept of color psychology has become a hot topic in marketing, art, design, and other areas. Much of the evidence in this emerging area is anecdotal at best, but researchers and experts have made a few important discoveries and observations about the psychology of color and the effect it has on moods, feelings, and behaviors.

Your feelings about color are often deeply personal and rooted in your own experience or culture.

For example, while the color white is used in many Western countries to represent purity and innocence, it is seen as a symbol of mourning in many Eastern countries.

The Psychological Effects of Color

Why is color such a powerful force in our lives? What effects can it have on our bodies and minds? While perceptions of color are somewhat subjective, there are some color effects that have universal meaning.

Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and include red, orange, and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.

Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple, and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.

How do people respond to different colors? Select a color below to learn more about the possible effects and find reactions from other readers:

Color Psychology as Therapy

Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, or the use of colors to heal. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colorology.

Colorology is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment.2 In this treatment:

  • Red is used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation.
  • Yellow is thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.
  • Orange is used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels.
  • Blue is believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain.
  • Indigo shades are thought to alleviate skin problems.

Modern Research on Color Psychology

Most psychologists view color therapy with skepticism and point out that the supposed effects of color are often grossly exaggerated. Colors also have different meanings in different cultures.

Research has demonstrated in many cases that the mood-altering effects of color may only be temporary. A blue room may initially cause feelings of calm, but the effect dissipates after a short period of time.

However, existing research has found that color can impact people in a variety of surprising ways:

  • Warm-colored placebo pills were reported as more effective than cool-colored placebo pills in one study.3
  • Blue-colored streetlights can lead to reduced crime according to anecdotal evidence.
  • Red causes people to react with greater speed and force, something that might prove useful during athletic activities according to researchers.4
  • Black uniforms are more likely to receive penalties. Additionally, students were more likely to associate negative qualities with a player wearing a black uniform according to a study that looked at historical data of sports teams and what they were dressed.5

Color Can Influence Performance

Studies have also shown that certain colors can have an impact on performance. No one likes to see a graded test covered in red ink, but one study found that seeing the color red before taking an exam actually hurt test performance.6

While the color red is often described as threatening, arousing or exciting, many previous studies on the impact of the color red have been largely inconclusive. The study found, however, that exposing students to the color red prior to an exam has been shown to have a negative impact on test performance.

In the first of the six experiments described in the study, 71 U.S. colleges students were presented with a participant number colored either red, green or black prior to taking a five-minute test.

The results revealed that students who were presented with the red number before taking the test scored more than 20% lower than those presented with the green and black numbers.

Color and Consumer Purchases

Color psychology suggests that various shades can have a wide range of effects, from boosting our moods to causing anxiety. But could the color of the products you purchase ever say something about your personality? For example, could the color of the car you buy somehow relate to some underlying personality traits or quirks?

Your color preferences why buying items might say something about the type of image you may be trying to project. Color preferences, from the clothes you wear to the car you drive, can sometimes make a statement about how we want other people to perceive us. Other factors such as age and gender can also influence the color choices we make.

  • White: As many of our readers have suggested, the color white can feel fresh and clean. The color is often used to evoke a sense of youth and modernity.
  • Black: Our readers often describe black as a “powerful” color, which might be the reason why black is the most popular color for luxury vehicles. People often describe the color as sexy, powerful, mysterious, and even ominous.
  • Silver: It’s the third most popular color for vehicles and linked to a sense of innovation and modernity. High tech products are often silver, so the color is often linked to things that are new, modern, and cutting-edge.
  • Red: Dreaming of a red vehicle? Red is a bold, attention-getting color, so preferring this type of car might mean you want to project an image of power, action, and confidence.
  • Blue: People often describe blue as the color of stability and safety. Driving a blue car or SUV might indicate that you are dependable and trustworthy.
  • Yellow: According to the experts, driving a yellow vehicle might mean that you are a happy person in general and perhaps a bit more willing than the average person to take risks.
  • Gray: The experts suggest that people who drive gray cars don’t want to stand out and instead prefer something a bit more subtle.

Of course, the color selections we make are often influenced by factors including price, selection, and other practical concerns. Not only that, but color preferences can also change in time.7

A person might prefer brighter, more attention-getting colors when they are younger, but find themselves drawn to more traditional colors as they grow older. The personality of the buyer can play an important role in color selection, but buyers are often heavily influenced by factors such as price as well as availability.

For example, purchasing a white vehicle might be less about wanting people to think that you are young and modern and more about the climate you live in; people who live in hot climates typically prefer light-colored vehicles over dark ones.

Evil Dowry.

Dowry system or an evil system of our country that still exists even after 72 years of independence. The system of giving the bride as a gift is justified. But to what extent the giving of vehicles, jewellery, and furniture is justified. Especially when it leads to issues such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, and sometimes suicide. In our county being a girl parent is a sin and credit goes to the dowry system that still exists. The idea behind the dowry system was, to make sure the bride will be financially stable after getting married. The intentions were very clear. Brides parents used to give money, land, assets to the bride as a “Gift” to make sure their daughter will be happy and independent after marriage. Now parents of the bride were looking at their bride as a source of income. Parents started hating their daughters and wanted only sons. They started demanding money as a dowry.

The new dowry system is creating problems in society. Poor parents do not get any groom who will marry their daughter without taking dowry. They have to take “Marriage Loans” to get their daughter married. Dowry is becoming a nightmare for Women. The cases of infanticide are increasing. Poor parents do not have any other option. They cannot afford to have a girl child, and hence they are intentionally killing infant girls. Dowry is creating violence. Groom’s parents are misusing this pure tradition. And they are not aware that they are misusing it, because they are not educated about the traditional dowry system. Everyone is just following the new dowry system blindly.

Dowry is complete injustice with women and does not give women equal status in society. Because of dowry men will always be superior to women. This is creating a mess and a negative environment in society. Under the Dowry Prohibition Act, taking or giving dowry is a crime and illegal. If you see someone taking or giving dowry then you can complain about them. Whenever someone takes the downy then it is sin but those who give dowry are equally culprit. So the need of the time is that we pledge to not give or take dowry in any case.

Amazon rainforest

The Amazon rainforest has long been recognized as a repository of ecological services not only for local tribes and communities, but also for the rest of the world. It is also the only rainforest that we have left in terms of size and diversity.
But as forests burn and global warming worsens, the impact of Amazon deforestation continues to gradually undo the fragile ecological processes that have been refined over millions of years.

Ironically, as rainforest continues to disappear, scientific work from the last two decades has shed light on the critical ties that link the health of rainforests to the rest of the world.

Filtering and reprocessing the world’s harmful carbon dioxide output

Trees have hidden attributes that play a key role in reducing pollutant levels. Take carbon dioxide (CO2) for example, a gas emitted from both natural and human sources. Over the last 150 years, humans have been pumping massive amounts of CO2 into the air by burning fossil fuels, coal, oil and natural gas – this is a major driver for global climate change.

Carbon dioxide in, oxygen out
Under natural conditions, plants remove CO2 from the atmosphere and absorb it for photosynthesis, an energy-creating process that yields:

  • Oxygen, which is released back into the air
  • Carbon, which allows the plant to grow.

So, without tropical rainforests the greenhouse effect would likely be even more pronounced, and climate change may possibly get even worse in the future.1

Amazon rainforests and carbon dioxide
What forests take from the air, they can also give back. When forests burn, tree carbon matter is released in the form of CO2, which pollutes the atmosphere, and of which there are already excessive quantities.

Where rainforest and savanna once stood, pastures for cattle-ranching are now appearing. Pastures teem with termites and cattle, whose metabolic activities also release CO2, although their contribution to atmospheric pollution is under much debate.

With the forests gone, CO2 is no longer transformed through photosynthesis, and the crops that replace forests only absorb a fraction of CO2 compared to rainforests. Along with industrial pollution, rampant deforestation in South America and elsewhere has significantly increased the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.2

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING

In 1987, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe 26th June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. The Conference recommended that an annual day should be observed to mark the importance of the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Both the dates 17 June and 26 June were suggested, and in the later meetings 26 June was chosen and written into the draft and final resolution. It is often referred to by Anti-Drug campaigners as 6/26. A play on Marijuana smokers “4/20” day is to be as celebrate cannabis. The UN’s 2007 World Drug Report puts the value of the illegal drug trade at US$322 billion a year. Campaigns, rallies, poster designing and many other programs are conducted. People of different countries celebrate the day together. As drug use increases, the day becomes more important. Justice for Health’, the theme for International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2019, highlights that “justice and health are two sides of the same coin when it comes to addressing drug problems.” The drug is an addiction if we ask any drug addicted person will tell that they have problem in family. If we give medicine and treatment only the starter and the middle person will change. We have to be happy we must not show our feelings to them or tell any sad situation. Everything in our life which happens will have a solution. Our life is like a rope we itself twist and make a knot and we remove it with, our teeth and fingers if look into it a small thing over it if it take it the rope will be as it was before. Life is not at all hard part every part is a simple and easy we itself making it harder or others test us how we are removing the knot. This is a simple technique in life each and everyone can advise. To follow the tips or to make your life smoother you have to leave a thing or make thing, if you think you are watching for long hours leave it in that time read some stories. This is an example if you try this for 21 days you can achieve if you cannot do it properly don’t worry think that you are leaving slowly. When you think something is telling to do the thing which you don’t want to do then think that you have came over doing that thing so only the thought is coming. You must not keep counting 21 days because your focus will be on date not on the action. Each thing has a day and time we must leave it at a point it will not continue more than a time limit. Before there was no such drugs but nowadays there are many drugs which small age persons also addicted. In this situation what things we do more and more to make us happy is also called as drug.

Education Access

For the development of the country, education is a must. But not only education but equal access to education is vital. With modernization, our country’s education index increase gradually. But the sad part is the gulf between the education ratio between boys and girls is still wide. Our country can progress only when our country gives equal access to education to girls also. but it is not possible due to various factors that make it impossible for girls to get an education in our country. Firstly, the poverty rate of our country. The condition is miserable. And when It comes to education. It is only a girl child who has to suffer. Families are educating only boy child barely caring about the female child of the family. This problem still exists even after 72 years of independence. Even though education is being made free, it still involves a substantial cost to send girls to school. Therefore, families who are struggling to make ends meet fail to pay the educational expenses of their children.

Another problem is that in rural areas, there aren’t many schools. This creates a distance problem as they are located far from the villages. In some areas, students have to walk for three to four hours to reach their school. This is where the safety of the girls gets compromised so parents don’t see it fit to send them off so far. Furthermore, the conservative thinking of the people makes it tougher for girls to get an education. Some people still believe girls are meant to stay in their houses and look after the kitchen. They do not like women to do any other tasks except for household ones. social evils like child marriage and child labour also stop the girl from getting an education. Parents pull daughters out of school to marry them off at an early age. Also, when girls indulge in child labour, they do not get time to study. If we wish to see India progress and develop, we need to educate our girl children. They are indeed the future of our nation. Moreover, when they become educated, they will not have to be dependent on others for their livelihood.

One of the most important benefits of girl education is that the country’s future will be brighter and better. Similarly, our economy can grow faster if more and more women become financially strong thereby reducing poverty. Furthermore, women who are educated can take proper care of their children. This will strengthen the future as lesser kids will die due to a lack of vaccination or a similar reason. Most importantly, educated women can result in a decrease in social issues like corruption, child marriage, domestic abuse, and more. They will become more confident and handle their families better in all spheres. Thus we see how one educated woman can bring so much change in her life along with the others as well.

Nataraj Temple Chidambaram

The Nataraj Temple Chidambaram is also referred as Thillai Nataraj Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is in the southern state of Tamilnadu in India. The temple has a deep mythical connection. When the name of the town was Thillai, a Shiva shrine used to be there in the temple. Chidambaram is the name of the city where the temple is now situated literally meaning “clothed in thought” or “atmosphere of wisdom”.

The architecture of the temple represents the link between arts and spirituality. The temple was constructed during the 10th Century when Chidambaram used to be the capital of the Chola dynasty. The Cholas considered Lord Shiva as Nataraj as their family deity. The Nataraj temple has undergone damage, renovation and expansion throughout the 2nd millennium. Although Shiva is the main deity of the temple, it also represents major themes from Vaishnavism, Shaktism and others with all due reverence. The Chidambaram temple complex proudly boasts of being one of the oldest temple complexes in Southern India. The most unique characteristic of the Nataraj Temple is the bejewelled image of Nataraj.

The temple has five main Halls or Sabhas namely the Kanaka Sabha, the Cit Sabha, Nritta Sabha, Deva Sabha and Raja Sabha. Nataraj happens to be one of the most momentous forms of Lord Shiva. Chidambaram is also amongst one of the most celebrated shrines of Lord Shiva in the country. The place also bears a significant importance from both cultural point of view and historical perspective as well. Now R & D, Western scientists have proved that at Lord Nataraja ‘s big toe is the Centre Point of World ‘s Magnetic Equator.

Ancient Tamil Scholar Thirumoolar has proved this Five thousand years ago! His treatise Thirumandiram is a wonderful Scientific guide for the whole world.

Chidambaram temple embodies the following characteristics :

  1. This temple is located at the Center Point of world ‘s Magnetic Equator.
  2. amoung the “Pancha bootha” temples, Chidambaram denotes the Skies. Kalahasthi denotes Wind. Kanchi Ekambareswar denotes land. All these 3 temples are located in a straight line at 79 degrees 41 minutes Longitude. This can be verified. An amazing fact & astronomical miracle !
  3. Chidambaram temple is based on the Human having 9 Entrances denoting 9 Entrances or Openings of the body.
  4. Temple roof is made of 21600 gold sheets which denotes the 21600 breaths taken by a human being every day (15 x 60 x 24 = 21600)
  5. These 21600 gold sheets are fixed on the “Vimanam” (Roof) using 72000 gold nails which denote the total no. of Nadis (Nerves) in the human body.
  6. Thirumoolar states that man represents the shape of Shivalingam, which represents Chidambaram which represents Sadashivam which represents Lord SHIVA’s dance!
  7. “Ponnambalam ” is placed slightly tilted towards the left. This represents our Heart. To reach this, we need to climb 5 steps called “Panchatshara padi ” “Si, Va, Ya, Na, Ma ” are the 5 Panchatshara mantras. There are 4 pillars holding the Kanagasabha representing the 4 Vedas.
  8. Ponnambalam has 28 pillars denoting the 28 “Ahamas “as well as the 28 methods to worship Lord Shiva. These 28 pillars support 64 +64 Roof Beams which denote the 64 Arts. The cross beams represent the Blood Vessels running across the Human body.
  9. Kalasas on the Golden Roof represent the 9 types of Sakthi or Energies. The 6 pillars at the Artha Mantapa represent the 6 types of Sashtras. The 18 pillars in the adjacant Mantapa represents 18 Puranams.
  10. The dance of Lord Nataraja is described as Cosmic Dance by Western Scientists.

Quite a number of legends are associated with that of the Chidambaram Nataraj Temple. A couple of annual festivals and traditions that are celebrated with utmost grandeur and pomp are Aani Tirumanjanam and Margazhi Tiruvaadirai.

WORLD CONSERVATION DAY

Every year July 28 is celebrated as the world conservation day is celebrated internationally to increase awareness about the best practices to protect our natural resources. We should acknowledge that a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and healthy society. To ensure the well-being of the present and future generations, we all must as responsible human beings participate in protecting and conserving our nature. Nature is a really beautiful thing in this running world if you sit and watch these nature around you it gives a relaxation for our mind. In nature there are many things we can admire each and everything. We cannot be same as our ancestors but we can live like them a little, in those days they left a big space for nature and small for them we can keep big space for us and small space for nature as garden in land. Nowadays it is become a fashion of keeping terrace gardening its nice but if you plant in the garden as a tree from it many birds, insects, squrilles etc can be happy. We can keep a pet in those days they feed dogs and cats only when they are hungry we should give space to do their habit other than we should not change the habit. The most obvious reason for conservation is to protect wildlife and promote biodiversity. Protecting wildlife and preserving it for future generations also means that the animals we love don’t become a distant memory. And we can maintain a healthy and functional ecosystem. In nature we have to conserve many things

• Environmental Conservation:

Environmental conservation is basically the practice of us humans to save the environment from collapsing, such as loss of species, ecosystems due to pollution and human activities. This helps both trees and animals, since some of us are dependent on them to survive. We need to save trees because they convert the carbon dioxide (CO2) we produce from factories and such to oxygen (O2) for us to breathe and respire.

• Animal conservation:

Animal conservation is the act of protecting ecosystems and environments to protect the animals that live there. Projects and animal conservation societies are being set up and developed all over the world every day, and along with that come the urgent need for animal conservation volunteers and science specialists.

• Marine Conservation:

Marine conservation, also known as ocean conservation, is the protection and preservation of ecosystems in oceans and seas through planned management in order to prevent the over-exploitation of these resources.

• Human Conservation:

Conservation seeks the sustainable use of nature by humans, for activities such as hunting, logging, or mining, while preservation means protecting nature from human use. This difference is illustrated by how the United States manages its public lands.

Nature is everywhere nature is like gold when we save it how much is possible when we are in difficulties it will save us. We can plant many trees as much as possible it gives us air and oxygen and some plants gives fruits, vegetables and flowers. We can make our free from pollution a small change can be a big thing one day. We will save our nature life and it will save us.

Biography of APJ Abdul kalam

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist who joined India’s defense department after graduating from the Madras Institute of Technology. He was a central figure in the development of the country’s nuclear capabilities and was hailed as a national hero after a series of successful tests in 1998. Kalam served as India’s president for one term from 2002 to 2007, and died of a heart attack on July 27, 2015.

Early Years

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born into a Muslim family on October 15, 1931, on the island of Dhanushkodi off the southeastern coast of India. He developed an early fascination with flight by watching birds, which developed into an interest in aeronautics after he saw a newspaper article about a British fighter plane.

Despite his modest beginnings – his dad built and rented boats – Kalam was a bright student who showed promise in science and mathematics. He attended St. Joseph’s College and went on to earn a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology.

Rise to the Presidency

His hopes of becoming a fighter pilot were dashed when he narrowly missed out on a spot with the Indian Air Force. Kalam instead joined the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as a senior scientific assistant in 1958. After moving to the newly formed Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1969, he was named project director of the SLV-III, the first satellite launch vehicle designed and produced on Indian soil.

Returning to the DRDO as director in 1982, Kalam implemented the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program. He then became the senior scientific adviser to India’s defense minister in 1992, a position he used to campaign for the development of nuclear tests.

Kalam was a key figure in the May 1998 Pokhran-II tests, in which five nuclear devices were detonated in the Rajasthan Desert. Although the tests resulted in condemnation and economic sanctions from other world powers, Kalam was hailed as a national hero for his staunch defense of the country’s security.

In 2002, India’s ruling National Democratic Alliance helped Kalam win an election against Lakshmi Sahgal and become India’s 11th president, a largely ceremonial post. Known as the People’s President, Kalam set a goal of conducting 500,000 one-on-one meetings with young people over the course of his five-year term. His immense popularity led to him being nominated by MTV for a Youth Icon of the Year award in 2003 and 2006.

After leaving office in 2007, Kalam became a visiting professor at several universities. He formed the “What Can I Give Movement” in 2011 with the goal of creating a compassionate society, and in 2012, his efforts to improve healthcare led to the release of a tablet for medical personnel to use in remote areas.

Death and Legacy

On July 27, 2015, Kalam suffered a massive heart attack while lecturing at the Indian Institute of Management and subsequently died at the age of 83.

Kalam was laid to rest on July 30 with full state honors in his native Tamil Nadu. In honor of the scientist and former president, the southeast Indian state government of Tamil Nadu created a “Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award,” which recognizes exceptional individuals who promote the sciences, students and humanities. The government has also established Kalam’s birthday (October 15) as “Youth Renaissance Day.” Discussion about building a large-scale memorial at his burial site is underway.

Among his many accolades, including honorary doctorates from 40 universities, he was granted the Padma Bhushan (1981), the Padma Vibhushan (1990) and the Bharat Ratna (1997) — India’s highest civilian awards — for his contributions in modernizing government defense technology. He also wrote several books, including the autobiography Wings of Fire in 1999.

Joy of organic farming with a touch of generosity

PALAKKAD: Bhuvaneswari Amma is 62. But her energy belies her age. She runs around her 24-acre organic farm, barefoot. She enters slushy paddy fields to plant saplings and remove weeds alongside workers, shares food with them in the fields. In between, food is packed and delivered to Covid-affected families. She also helps take patients to hospitals and supply medicines. She tutors students living in the vicinity as well.A resident of Kolayakode, Elapully, Bhuvaneswari’s passion for farming and charity work drives her to go the extra mile. As she walks along briskly, one is tempted to ask: “Where is your footwear?”

“With footwear, I feel like I am moving away from nature,” says Bhuvaneswari.Paddy is cultivated in ten acres and mango orchards constitute a similar area, she says. “Then there is turmeric, jackfruit trees, black gram, black sesame and different flowers.”She also rears hens, ducks and native varieties of cattle, like Vechur, Kasaragod Kullan and Gir. “The manure for the crops comes from the cattle. There is also a one-and-a-half-acre pond where fish is reared.”

Family support keeps her smiling and enjoying the work, she says.Dr N Shudhodhanan, a retired deputy director with the animal husbandry department who resides nearby, says Bhuvaneswari spends generously for the benefit of the sick and the needy. “Every week, she provides more than 100 relief kits and food to families struggling with disease and to old age homes. In the past, people in the area used to be abandoned in one corner of their houses when affected by cancer. Now, she helps take such persons to healthcare centres and give them medicines in consultation with medical practitioners,” he says.It started off with her husband Venkatachalapathy, a maths teacher who retired as the principal of the Government Moyans HSS, receiving a share of the ancestral property in Kolayakode. The couple’s two sons then secured jobs in European countries, and proceeded to ensure their parents’ happiness. They purchased all the adjacent land.Shudhodanan remembers that the land was full of wild growth two decades ago. The couple initially lived in a modest tiled house. Gradually, they implemented scientific methods and converted the land into a fertile plot through sheer hard work. “At that time, organic farming had not received the hype it now has,” recalls Bhuvaneswari, who is now an active member of the Jaiva Samrakshana Samithy. She has four children Sajith, Sabith, Sabitha and Aneesh. The 31-year-old Aneesh was adopted by the family when he was six. Bhuvaneswari is a much-loved volunteer of the Sneha Theeram Palliative unit, says K Revathy Babu, president of Elapully panchayat.she is the super model mother.

Peer pressure in society

Peer pressure can be both negative and positive. Because if a person is a peer pressuring you for a good cause then it is motivation. Motivation is essential for the growth of a person. While peer pressure for a bad cause will always lead you to a disastrous situation.

Therefore it necessary for a person to not get influenced by the people around them. They should analyze the outcome of the deed in a strict manner. So that they no may commit anything harmful for themselves. As this world is full of bad people, so you need to be careful before trusting anybody.

Advantages of Peer Pressure

* Peer pressure is advantageous in many ways. Most importantly it creates a sense of motivation in the person. Which further forces the person to cross the barrier and achieve something great. Furthermore, it boosts the confidence of a person. Because our brain considers people’s opinions and makes them a priority.

*Many salesmen and Entrepreneurs use this technique to influence people to buy their products. Whenever we are in a social meet we always get various recommendations. Therefore when a person gets these recommendations the brain already starts liking it. Or it creates a better image of that thing. This forces the person to buy the product or at least consider it.

*This peer pressure technique also works in creating a better character of a person. For instance, when we recommend someone for a particular job, the interviewer already gets a better image of that person. Because he is recommended by a person the interviewer trusts. Therefore there is a great chance of that person to get hired.

*Above all the main advantage of peer pressure can be in youth. If a young person gets influenced by an individual or a group of people. He can achieve greater heights in his career.

Disadvantages of Peer Pressure

*There are various disadvantages of peer pressure which can harm a person in many ways. If any person is not willing to perform a task then the peer pressure can be frustrating to him.

*Furthermore, peer pressure should not be in an excessive manner. Because it lands a negative impact on the person. A person should be of the mindset of listening to himself first. While considering opinions in favor of him.

*Peer pressure in youth from a bad company can lead a person to a nasty situation. Furthermore, it can also hamper a student’s career and studies if not averted. Youth these days are much influenced by the glamorous life of celebrities.

*And since they follow them so much, these people become their peers. Thus they do such things that they should not. Drugs and smoking are major examples of this. Moreover most shocking is that the minors are even doing these things. This can have adverse effects on their growth and career.

*It is necessary to judge the outcome of a deed before getting influenced by peers. Furthermore, peer pressure should always be secondary. Your own thoughts and wants should always have the first priority.

A Brief History of Journalism: How We Arrived to Where We Are

The Beginning of Journalism

Journalism is the gathering, organizing, and distribution of news — to include feature stories and commentary — through the wide variety of print and non-print media outlets. It is not a recent phenomenon, by any means; the earliest reference to a journalistic product comes from Rome circa 59 B.C., when news was recorded in a circular called the Acta Diurna. It enjoyed daily publication and was hung strategically throughout the city for all to read, or for those who were able to read.

During the Tang dynasty, from 618 A.D. to 907 A.D., China prepared a court report, then named a bao, to distribute to government officials for the purpose of keeping them informed of relevant events. It continued afterward in a variety of forms and names until the end of 1911, and the demise of the Qing dynasty. However, the first indication of a regular news publication can be traced to Germany, 1609, and the initial paper published in the English language (albeit “old English”) was the newspaper known as the Weekly Newes from 1622. The Daily Courant, however, first appearing in 1702, was the first daily paper for public consumption.

It should come as no surprise that these earliest forays into keeping the public informed were met with government opposition in many cases. They attempted to impose censorship by placing restrictions and taxes on publishers as a way to curb freedom of the press. But literacy among the population, as a whole, was growing and because of this, along with the introduction of technology that improved printing and circulation, newspaper publications saw their numbers explode; and even though there remain pockets of news censorship around the world today, for the most part, journalistic freedom reigns.

Time passed, and the cost of news gathering increased dramatically, as publications attempted to keep pace with what seemed to be a growing and insatiable appetite for printed news. Slowly, news agencies formed to take the place of independent publishers. They would hire people to gather and write news reports, and then sell these stories to a variety of individual news outlets. However, the print media was soon about to come head-to-head with an entirely new form of news gathering — first, with the invention of the telegraph, then quickly followed by the radio, the television, and mass broadcasting. It was an evolution of technology that seemed all but inevitable.

Non-print media changed the dynamics of news gathering and reporting altogether. It sped up all aspects of the process, making the news, itself, more timely and relevant. Soon, technology became an integral part of journalism, even if the ultimate product was in print form. Today, satellites that transmit information from one side of the globe to another in seconds, and the Internet, as well, place breaking news in the hands of almost every person in the world at the same time. This has created a new model of journalism once again, and one that will likely be the standard for the future.

The Rise of Journalism in the United States

Not everyone was enamored with news reporting. When the earliest colonies were settling into life on this continent, there were many influential leaders that spoke with disdain about the press. One such person was Governor William Berkeley of Virginia who, in 1671, claimed, “I thank God, there are no free schools, nor printing, and I hope we shall not have, these hundred years, for learning has brought disobedience, and heresy, and sects into the world, and printing has divulged them, and libels against the best government. God keep us from both.” That is not a comment one would expect to hear in the United States today. But this was spoken at a time before technology had altered publication, and the purpose of most municipalities and their leaders was to see to it that people conformed.

Recent History of Journalism

Journalism of the 20th century and this first decade and a half of the 21st century. There is no question that the professionalism of this industry has grown immensely since the days of yellow journalism. There are several factors that are credited with this, including the fact that journalism became a recognized area of study at the university level, giving it a sense of importance missing prior to this. As well, there was an increasing body of knowledge on all aspects of the field of journalism, laying bare its flaws for others to examine, and explaining the techniques of mass communication from a social and psychological viewpoint. At the same time, social responsibility became the hallmark of journalism and journalists themselves elevated the profession through the creation of professional organizations. “A free and responsible press” is the battle cry of the journalist today, as ethics and standards are an important consideration of all who enter the profession.

The news has been changing with the introduction of new technologies. Even with the introduction of radio, and later, television, newspapers remained the most trusted source of information for most Americans, who only supplemented them with non-print media information. That is not so today. Non-print media dominate news acquisition by the public, and it has become more influential than could have been suspected in its infancy. Americans, and others, turn to non-print media to get sound bites of what is happening globally. Newspapers that put time, effort, reflection, and sweat and blood into the process of news gathering and reporting still aim to provide an in-depth look at events. The question becomes, who wants to take the time to ponder the world at the level that newspapers challenge the reader to ascribe to? The term “news,” itself, has taken on new meaning. There is hard news, celebrity news, breaking news, and other categories that have altered journalism from its beginnings.

However, even as the world continues to change, there is an ongoing need for the printed word, even if it is delivered electronically, instead of on paper. That should be some comfort to journalists, for indeed, there is hope that there will always be the need for a free and honest press.

calorie

The calorie was first introduced by Nicolas Clément, as a unit of heat energy, in lectures during the years 1819–1824. This was the “large” calorie, viz. modern kilocalorie.[3][6] The term entered French and English dictionaries between 1841 and 1867. It comes from Latin calor ‘heat’.

The “small” calorie (modern calorie) was introduced by Pierre Antoine Favre (Chemist) and Johann T. Silbermann (Physicist) in 1852. In 1879, Marcellin Berthelot distinguished between gram-calorie (modern calorie) and kilogram-calorie (modern kilocalorie).[6] Berthelot also introduced the convention of capitalizing the kilogram-calorie, as Calorie.

The use of the kilogram-calorie (kcal) for nutrition was introduced to the American public by Wilbur Olin Atwater, a professor at Wesleyan University, in 1887.[3]

The modern calorie (cal) was first recognized as a unit of the cm-g-s system (cgs) in 1896,[6] alongside the already-existing cgs unit of energy, the erg (first suggested by Clausius in 1864, under the name ergon, and officially adopted in 1882).

Already in 1928 there were serious complaints about the possible confusion arising from the two main definitions of the calorie and whether the notion of using the capital letter to distinguish them was sound.[7] Use of the calorie was officially deprecated by the ninth General Conference on Weights and Measures, in 1948.[8]

The alternate spelling calory is archai

LIFE IS A JOURNEY

Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout our travels, we will encounter many challenges.

Some of these challenges will test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along the way, we may stumble upon obstacles that will come between the paths that we are destined to take.

In order to follow the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only we don’t realize that at the time.

Along our journey we will be confronted with many situations, some will be filled with joy, and some will be filled with heartache. How we react to what we are faced with determines what kind of outcome the rest of our journey through life will be like.

When things don’t always go our way, we have two choices in dealing with the situations.

  • We can focus on the fact that things didn’t go how we had hoped they would and let life pass us by, or
  • We can make the best out of the situation and know that these are only temporary setbacks and find the lessons that are to be learned.

Time stops for no one, and if we allow ourselves to focus on the negative we might miss out on some really amazing things that life has to offer. We can’t go back to the past, we can only take the lessons that we have learned and the experiences that we have gained from it and move on. It is because of the heartaches, as well as the hardships, that in the end help to make us a stronger person.

The people that we meet on our journey, are people that we are destined to meet. Everybody comes into our lives for some reason or another and we don’t always know their purpose until it is too late. They all play some kind of role. Some may stay for a lifetime; others may only stay for a short while.

It is often the people who stay for only a short time that end up making a lasting impression not only in our lives, but in our hearts as well. Although we may not realize it at the time, they will make a difference and change our lives in a way we never could imagine. To think that one person can have such a profound affect on your life forever is truly a blessing. It is because of these encounters that we learn some of life’s best lessons and sometimes we even learn a little bit about ourselves.

People will come and go into our lives quickly, but sometimes we are lucky to meet that one special person that will stay in our hearts forever no matter what. Even though we may not always end up being with that person and they may not always stay in our life for as long as we like, the lessons that we have learned from them and the experiences that we have gained from meeting that person, will stay with us forever.

It’s these things that will give us strength to continue on with our journey. We know that we can always look back on those times of our past and know that because of that one individual, we are who we are and we can remember the wonderful moments that we have shared with that person.

Memories are priceless treasures that we can cherish forever in our hearts. They also enables us to continue on with our journey for whatever life has in store for us. Sometimes all it takes is one special person to help us look inside ourselves and find a whole different person that we never knew existed. Our eyes are suddenly opened to a world we never knew existed- a world where time is so precious and moments never seem to last long enough.

Throughout this adventure, people will give you advice and insights on how to live your life but when it all comes down to it, you must always do what you feel is right.

Always follow your heart, and most importantly never have any regrets. Don’t hold anything back. Say what you want to say, and do what you want to do, because sometimes we don’t get a second chance to say or do what we should have the first time around.

It is often said that what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. It all depends on how one defines the word “strong” It can have different meanings to different people. In this sense, “stronger” means looking back at the person you were and comparing it to the person you have become today. It also means looking deep into your soul and realizing that the person you are today couldn’t exist if it weren’t for the things that have happened in the past or for the people that you have met.

Everything that happens in our life happens for a reason and sometimes that means we must face heartaches in order to experience joy.

EVOLUTION OF COSMETICS

We always feel the need to present ourselves better in order for others to respect us. We dress ourselves nicely, wear nice shoes, be pleasant. All these may be enough for a man. Men just throw on some shirts and pants and voila, they are ready. It is not the same with women. There are a thousand components and trinkets that need to match with our outfit, picking out the perfect outfit itself is a headache.

Above all, there is this thing called makeup which needs to be perfect. Many of us think makeup is an recent obsession. The early records of makeup traces back to Egypt in before 2907 BC. Kohl, present day kajal were used for eye makeup, and red clay was used to accentuate the color of lips and cheeks.

If you look at it, all of it were purely natural elements. Women and men used to wear white chalk on their faces for plays. Henna was used to dye their hair and even faces to get a tan. During the Elizabethan period in England, women used egg whites to get a glazed look.

India was a long way away from having cosmetics and synthetic makeup. But they had their own facial remedies, like turmeric and gram flour to have a flawless skin. These days though they have lessened in use, there are still women who use turmeric and gram flour for their face. The girls of these days have access to all the modern cosmetic products full of chemicals.

The advancement in technology can be applauded, but what can be applied naturally are being processed through multiple layers of chemicals and sold in the market. For example, fresh aloe vera refreshes our face and gives a bright look, but no one would go through the trouble of cleaning and applying it. Instead a tube of “Aloe Vera Face Wash” does the work. The question is does it?

The next big thing is shampoo and conditioner. Many of us suffer from hair fall. Those days they just had shikkakai paste and coconut oil. Conditioner was not even a thing back then. They had luscious long and healthy hair. No matter how much brands and types of shampoos come in the market, no matter with what name, no matter organic or inorganic, going back to nature is what is going to help us.

People have realized it and have started adding the word “organic” in front of all their products, and we end up buying it. We have become so progressive that even men are wearing makeup these days, there is nothing wrong with that, but choosing natural products will be better.

We must realize that there was a time when using chemicalized products were all rage. And when it was used in multitude, we started seeing side-effects. Now we are running back to Mother Nature in order to protect ourselves. But we are so genetically changed that, using chemicals has become the new normal for our body and it is not accepting the natural remedies.

It is high time, we ditch the chemicals and try to use natural products in order to stay healthy, both for ourselves and for our future generations.

ASTRONOMY IN INDIA

Development of astronomy in India has come a long way since the Vedic times and now ISRO heads our space exploration and research in astronomy.

When comes Indian astronomy, an image that automatically comes to our mind is that of the Jantar Mantar. It was built by Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur in the 18th century .The collections of huge instruments for astronomical observations were fundamentally based on ancient India’s astronomy texts. Five Jantar Mantars were built to revise the calendars and make a more accurate collection of tables that could predict the motions of the major stars and planets. This data was to be used for more accurate time measurement, improved predictions of eclipses and better tracking of positions of stars and planets with relation to earth. They are so large in scale that it is supposed to have been aimed at increasing their accuracy. In the Jantar Mantar, one can find the world’s largest sundial and literally see the sun’s shadow move every second. Records also show that telescopes were built and used in certain observations. This kind of accuracy helped produce in those ages some remarkably accurate results, which even contemporary Europeans could not beat.

One important lesson to learn from the Jantar Mantars is that the Raja built five of them. He could have built just one and been happy with the results. He built five so that the results given by one observatory could be verified against those of another. This possibility of verification obviously reduced the chance of human error involved when taking readings on an instrument. Also, the five observatories were in five different cities. Thus, one could check the position readings of heavenly bodies from different parts of earth and again verify the overall results. This shows a strong display of the scientific enquiry method in the minds of our past astronomers.

The ideas behind Jantar Mantar came from ancient Indian texts written by Aryabhata, Varahamihira, Bhaskaracharya and others. The most important texts of ancient Indian astronomy had been implied between the 5th and 15th century -the classical era of Indian astronomy. The more familiar ones among these works are Aryabhatiya, Aryabhatasiddhanta, Pancha-siddhantika and Laghubhaskariyam. Ancient Indian astronomers were notable in several respects. Their achievements are even more baffling considering they never used any kind of telescopes. They put forth the sun-centric theory for the solar system, elliptical orbits for planets instead of circular ones, reasonably accurate calculations for the length of a year and the earth’s dimensions, and the idea that our sun was no different from the countless other stars in the night sky.

Somewhere during the Middle Ages, progress in the field of astronomy stood still and an admixture of astronomy and astrology arose. With colonization, the European school of astronomy displaced our own. The last remarkable astronomer in pre-Independence India was Samanta Chandrasekhars. His book Sidhant Darpana and his use of simple instruments in getting accurate observations earned him praise even from the British.

In our present era, the Indian space programme stands on the contributions made by two giants in the field of physics-Homi J Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. It was their tireless efforts, which initiated work in space research under the Department of Atomic Energy.

Over this period of time, India also produced some remarkable astronomers and astrophysicists Meghnad Saba and Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar are two world renowned names in astrophysics.

On the side of the observational astronomy, we had Dr M.K. Vainu Bappu-till date the only Indian to have a comet named after him/her. Currently, the Giant Meter-wave Radio Telescope (GMRT) at Khodad near Pune is the largest of its kind in the world. The Kavalur observatory, named after Dr Bappu, is one of the best equipped in the eastern hemisphere.

Jantar Mantar-Ancient Astronomical Observatories of India and Some Instruments

Historically, Indian astronomy developed as a discipline of Vedanga or one of ‘auxiliary disciplines associated with the study of the Vedas. The oldest known text is the Vedanga Jyotisha, dated between 1400-1200 BC.

Indian astronomy was in its peak in the fifth-sixth centuries with Aryabhata and his Aryabhatiya representing the pinnacle of astronomical knowledge. Later, Indian astronomy influenced Muslim astronomy. Chinese astronomy, European astronomy and others significantly. Other astronom of the classical era, who further elaborated on Aryabhata’s work, include Brahmagupta, Varahamihira and Lalla.

An identifiable astronomical tradition remained active throughout the medieval period and into the eighteenth century, especially within the Kerala school of astronomy and mathematics founded by Sangamagrama Madhava (1350-1425 AD) of Irinjalakkuda in Kerala.

The classical era of Indian astronomy begins in the late Gupta era, in the fifth-sixth centuries.

The Panchasiddhantika (Varahamihira, 505 CE) approximates the method for determination of the meridian direction from any three positions of the shadow using Gnomon or Sanku.

Once, while visiting the court of Emperor Muhammad Shah, Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur overheard a loud argument about how to calculate the most astronomically advantageous date for the purpose of the emperor beginning a journey. To the Maharaja, the debate highlighted the need for education in the field of astronomy and for an observatory that could make accunte astronomical calculations. The idea for the Jantar Mantars or calculation instruments was bom The Jantar Mantar consists of a number of structures in stone, brick and marble, cach of them marked with astronomical scales and designed to serve a specific purpose of the observatories originally built at Delhi, Jaipur, Mathura, Ujjain and Varanasi; all observatories dill exist except the one in Mathura.

Among the devices used for astronomy was Gnomon, known as Sanku, in which the shadow of a vertical rod is applied on a horizontal plane in order to ascertain the cardinal directions, the Latitude of the point of observation and the time of observation. This device finds mention in the works of Varahamihira, Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, Brahmagupta, among others.

The armillary sphere was used for observation in India since early times, and finds mention in the works of Aryabhatta (476 CE). The Goladipika a detailed treatise dealing with globes and the armillary sphere was composed between 1380-1460 CE by Parameswara. Probably, the celestial coordinates of the junction stars of the lunar mansions were determined by the armillary sphere since the seventh century. There was also a celestial globe rotated by flowing water.

The seamless celestial globe invented in Mughal India, especially in Lahore and Kashmir, is considered to be one of the most impressive astronomical instruments and remarkable feats in metallurgy and engineering. All globes, before and after this, were seamed, and in the twentieth century, creating a seamless metal globe was believed by metallurgists to be technically impossible, even with modern technology.

Online education in India – the good, the bad and the ugly!

#onlineeducation

With educational institutes closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has been encouraging online education to achieve academic continuity. Most high-end private and public institutions have made the switch smoothly using online platforms such as Zoom, Google classrooms, Microsoft teams, etc., while many still find it a herculean task. The challenges of online education are multifaceted. It is time that we Indians, as a society, understand the realms of online education – in India, for India.

The Good

Online education allows for learning something beyond the norm. A learner has access to unlimited topics and global experts in niche subjects – something otherwise not affordable or imaginable for many. Online programs allow people of a wide age group to learn at their own pace, without inhibitions, and without compromising on their other responsibilities. With the emergence and spread of COVID-19 in India, online education has trickled down to the most basic level — schools and colleges! When asked about their experience with online teaching, a student from a college in Bengaluru said, “The online option is a need in this pandemic situation. It has brought education to us without us going anywhere, and it is more flexible”. Probably, students are finding it a welcome change from strict schedules and long-distance commutes to attend classes. For some others, who find learning in large classes intimidating, this may be a less stressful option. Many teachers are making the best of this situation by exploring new methods of teaching and assessment. This is encouraging. But the moment online education moves from an optional to the only form of learning, and that too long term, the bad and the ugly slowly become evident. India is beginning to get a taste of this now.

The bad

Using the internet for entertainment is common, but for online lessons is a big challenge. Teachers may not be well-versed with creating digital content, and conveying it effectively online. A sudden expectation from them to upgrade, and from students to adapt, is unfair.Body language and eye contact, which are important cues for the teacher, are difficult to perceive in an online class. “I do not receive continual feedback in the form of students’ reactions during online sessions, which reduces the effectiveness of teaching”, says a college teacher in suburban Mumbai. How many students have paid attention in a class? Of those, how many understood the lesson? Is the teaching pace alright? Are some students getting left behind? These questions arise even in traditional classrooms, but they are harder to address in online classes. A parent of an 8‑year-old attending a private school in Gurgaon says, “There shouldn’t be online classes for such young kids. Their concentration span is small and they do not pay attention after a while.” The 8‑year-old added, “I hate them (online classes)!”Even college students seem to value the in-class physical learning experience much more than a virtual one. Many acknowledge that phones can be very distracting. In addition, science and technology programs often include hands-on laboratory sessions, dissertation projects and field trips to complement theoretical studies. This aspect of learning is severely limited in online education. Finally, education is not just about subject knowledge but also about developing social skills and sportsmanship among the students, which is built over years. Relying solely on online education may hinder the holistic development of children, and many may underperform later in their professional and personal lives.

The Ugly

While India enjoys a wide geographic and cultural diversity, it also suffers from a huge socio-economic divide. Only a small part of the Indian population has access to online education right now. Interrupted power supply, weak or non-existent internet connectivity, and unaffordability to buy necessary devices are major concerns. “In a Class of 40 students, after two months of online classes, around 20 students regularly attend class with whatever device and connection they have. Around 5 – 8 students are completely absent till date and rest are fluctuating”, says a school teacher in Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. A teacher in a government-aided school from the small town of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh says, “It is a frustrating experience to engage students of lower classes in online mode. There are network issues on both teachers’ and students’ ends”. To deal with internet connectivity and device availability issues, ‘classes’ in many places are happening via sharing of videos by teachers over WhatsApp or YouTube, so that students can watch them at their convenience. This too, however, comes with difficulties in understanding the lessons and promotes rote learning. The same is true of pre-recorded sessions aired on the television (e.g., Swayam Prabha DTH channels) and radio (audio lessons, through All India Radio), although they do cater to a wider student population that cannot avail live online classes.

Immigrants

Majorities of publics in top migrant destination countries say immigrants strengthen their countries, according to a 2018 Pew Research Center survey of 18 countries that host half of the world’s migrants.

In 10 of the countries surveyed, majorities view immigrants as a strength rather than a burden. Among them are some of the largest migrant receiving countries in the world: the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Canada and Australia (each hosting more than 7 million immigrants in 2017).

By contrast, majorities in five countries surveyed – Hungary, Greece, South Africa, Russia and Israel – see immigrants as a burden to their countries. With the exception of Russia, these countries each have fewer than 5 million immigrants.

Meanwhile, public opinion on the impact of immigrants is divided in the Netherlands. In Italy and Poland, more say immigrants are a burden, while substantial shares in these countries do not lean one way or the other (31% and 20% respectively).

CRITICISM

CRITICISM

INTRODUCTION :

Criticism is expressing the disagreement for something or someone that is generally based on perceived faults, beliefs, and mistakes. So, the main point here is whether to consider criticism as good or bad. Also, if we go by the meaning of the word criticism then criticizing someone is bad. Also, simultaneously this might lead to improving the person who is being criticized. So, he/she is becoming a better person and does not repeat the mistakes is considered as providing criticism to be good. Thus, this depends entirely on the perceived value that is hidden behind the criticis.

GOOD SIDE OF CRITICISM :

It is tough for anyone to criticism well. For some, criticism is a good thing while others disagree. Criticism in itself is one of those words that looks like negative. Thus, it gives a feeling of unwilling to accept or making a massive disagreement or being pessimistic. But to everyone’s surprise, it is not the case. Criticism is often different than what people perceive. The essay on criticism gives you an insight into the pros and cons of the criticism.

Scope For Improvements

Constructive criticism will lead to locating the fault or mistakes that are made by the people. So, the people can work upon it and thereby improve their activities so a heedful and better life can be lived. Criticism calls for improvement on one plane and thereby avoiding the issues unwanted on the other side.

Expert and Credible Status

When the criticism is constructive it always makes the criticizer a central figure among the people. Thus, more honors and credibility is given and so criticism would rather be considered as expert advice. Thus, it will add to the status quo of the person that is criticizing.

The Bad Side of Criticism

Leads To a Feeling of Demotivation

A person that is being constantly criticized may feel at tines demotivated. So, this is because of the fact that his/her efforts have not been justifiably and rightfully appreciated. Thus, it may further lead to increase in hesitation in moving forward.

The Danger of Creating a Destructive and False Image

There are many times that it can occur that the people that criticize are seen as the villain of the society. Thus his/her image gets automatically shattered as well as abruptly changed. So, doing criticism may lead adversely to the criticizer as well.

LONELINESS

LONELINESS

INTRODUCTION :

Depression is a disagreeable passionate reaction to saw disconnection. Forlornness is additionally depicted as friendly agony—a mental system which persuades people to look for social associations. It is normal related with an undesirable absence of association and closeness. Dejection covers but then is unmistakable from isolation. Isolation is just the condition of being separated from others; not every person who encounters isolation feels desolate. As an abstract feeling, dejection can be felt in any event, when encircled by others; one who feels forlorn, is desolate. The reasons for dejection are fluctuated. They incorporate social, mental, enthusiastic, and ecological variables.

Examination has shown that forlornness is found all through society, incorporating among individuals in relationships alongside other solid connections, and those with effective professions. A great many people experience dejection at certain focuses in their lives, and some vibe it all the time. As a transient feeling, forlornness can be useful; it empowers the fortifying of connections. Persistent forlornness then again is generally viewed as hurtful, with various audits and meta-considers finishing up it’s anything but a critical danger factor for poor mental and actual wellbeing results.

Grounds of Loneliness :

Man faces an expanding occurrence of depression in view of the quick changing social and monetary states of present day times. It’s anything but a relatively ongoing marvel: Close very crude gatherings draw out an unsafe presence by chasing wild creatures or eating wild organic products would not encounter dejection as they would consistently connect by and large in life-supporting exercises.

PHENOMENON :

Loneliness can also be seen as a social phenomenon, capable of spreading like a disease. When one person in a group begins to feel lonely, this feeling can spread to others, increasing everybody’s risk for feelings of loneliness. People can feel lonely even when they are surrounded by other people.
Individual’s levels of loneliness typically remain more or less constant during adulthood until 75 to 80 years of age, when they increase somewhat. Prolonged loneliness is associated with depression, poor social support, neuroticism, and introversion. Studies have shown that loneliness puts people at risk for physical disease and that it may contribute to a shortened life span.

CONCLUSION :

Loneliness is both satisfying and exhausting. It is associated with social tension, social restraint (modesty), trouble, aggression, doubt, and low confidence, qualities that hamper one’s capacity to interface in capable and remunerating ways. Fortuitous depression causes no agonies except for forcide dejection is bordom. However, the individual who has seen demise from tight situation tracks down the valid and genuine significance of life. Likewise an individual, who has gone through the experience of dejection for a substantional time, definitely feels the delight of social association such an individual understands the genuine element of safety and unwinding, one encounters in the organization of one’s relatives or dear companions. Encounters of forlornness fortify social ties and convert even recluses into social creatures.

DEATH

DEATH

MEANING OF DEATH :

We will all bite the dust. I’m making an effort not to be prophetically calamitous or something in my passing article; it’s anything but an explanation of truth. Each living will pass on as time goes on.

There is a lot of possible results to defer downfall. A man may live twenty years or 100 years; be that as it may, no man can live, for example, 200 years. Subsequently, passing is unsurprising for us every one of us, it is basically impossible to get around it.

Passing is the perpetual, irreversible end of all natural capacities that support a living creature. Mind demise is now and again utilized as a lawful meaning of death. The remaining parts of a formerly living organic entity regularly start to disintegrate not long after death. Demise is an inescapable, widespread interaction that at last happens in every living being.

Demise is for the most part applied to entire organic entities; the comparative interaction found in singular segments of a living being, like cells or tissues, is putrefaction. Something that isn’t viewed as a living organic entity, like an infection, can be genuinely annihilated yet isn’t said to pass on.

What is the sensible demeanor towards death?

To everybody his own, as astute individuals say. It is not really conceivable to design an all inclusive recipe that would be right for all individuals, yet a few things, I think, stay unaltered. Demise is inescapable for all individuals; eventually, it is consistently something similar, and the manner in which you bite the dust doesn’t actually matter as long as you are dead. You have no control over it; yet, you have control over how you go through the whole time on earth before it.

TREAT OF DEATH :

I treat the inevitability of death as yet another motivation to try and do as much as possible right now, for I know that the time of my life is limited and, no matter what actually awaits me after death, it would be something entirely different from what I am used to in life. There is no use thinking about death all the time; but thinking about the limited nature of time is useful. From this perspective, the only thing every person may try to ensure is not to be ashamed of his life.

CONCLUSION :

Death is a inseparable part of life. If we are to live life honestly and without fear, we have to also accept that death is ultimately inevitable. Death should not cause us to live in fear, but rather to live our lives in the very best way that we can.

RAIN

RAIN

INTRODUCTION :

The main component of climate is water. We get water in various types of precipitation. Downpour is the most helpful of a wide range of precipitation. Downpour is the thing that gathers our yields that give us food to eat. Without downpour, no yields would develop and we would ward off the substance of this Earth.

Significance of Rainy Days

As expressed before, stormy days are delighted in by individuals, all things considered. The children are presumably the most energized parcel of all. Blustery days bring wonderful climate and elevate the states of mind of children. Additionally, it’s anything but an opportunity to venture out and play in the downpour, bounce in the puddles and make paper boats.

Likewise, for understudies, a blustery day implies a break from school. It’s anything but a break from their dreary daily schedule as the school pronounces an occasion. The delight of going to class on a stormy day getting a charge out of the climate and afterward understanding the school is shut is exceptional experience. The understudies become loose and go through their day doing different exercises like going out with companions and the sky is the limit from there.

My Rainy Day Experience

At the point when I consider blustery days, it brings back extremely unique recollections for me. Notwithstanding, one memory is such which is the nearest to my heart. I recall our educator planned a test for us when it began pouring intensely.

I woke up in the first part of the day with the dread of stepping through the exam for which I was not ready. I implored God for the abrogation of the test. As I was preparing, it began coming down vigorously. I got spruced up and went to class with my dad, and amazingly, we came to realize the school was shut that day because of a blustery day.

I was large and in charge when I came to think about it. I got back with my dad and returned then stripped down. Quickly, I changed into my home garments to go f\and wash in the downpour on my porch. I played with my kin a ton in the downpour; we made paper boats also. After we were done, we saw that my mom was making onion wastes. She served them consuming hot with stew chutney. We savored the wastes as we watched the precipitation. It was really quite possibly the most vital blustery days of mine.

CONCLUSION :

At the point when we get into the downpour, we as a whole get wet. Nobody is superior to another when you’re dousing wet and in urgent need of a Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate, the nectar of the divine beings. Downpour is the general voice of lowliness. Regardless of what gadgets man has made to keep away from the downpour, it actually comes.

PERIODS

PERIODS

INTRODUCTION :

A period is the piece of the feminine cycle when a lady drains from her vagina for a couple of days.

For most ladies this happens like clockwork or somewhere in the vicinity, yet it’s entirely expected for periods to be pretty much continuous than this, going from day 21 to day 40 of their monthly cycle.

Your period can last somewhere in the range of 3 and 8 days, yet it will normally keep going for around 5 days. The draining will in general be heaviest in the initial 2 days.

At the point when your period is at its heaviest, the blood will be red. On lighter days, it very well might be pink, earthy colored or dark.

You’ll lose around 30 to 72ml (5 to 12 teaspoons) of blood during your period, albeit a few ladies drain more vigorously than this.

When do periods begin?

Periods as a rule start at around the age of 12, albeit a few young ladies will begin them prior or later.

A deferral in beginning periods isn’t typically a reason for concern. Most young ladies will have normal periods by age 16 to 18.

Sanitary products

Sanitary products soak up or collect the blood released during your period.

The main types of sanitary products are:

  1. sanitary pads
  2. tampons
  3. menstrual cups

SANITARY PADS

Sanitary pads are strips of padding that have a sticky side you attach to your underwear to hold them in place. One side of the pad is made of an absorbent material that soaks up the blood.

Pads come in many sizes, so you can choose one to suit how heavy or light your period is.

Pantyliners are a smaller and thinner type of sanitary pad that can be used on days when your period is very light.

Tampons

Tampons are small tubes of cotton wool that you insert into your vagina to soak up the blood before it comes out of your body.

There are 2 types of tampon – ones that come with an applicator and others without an applicator that you insert with your fingers. In both cases, there’s a string at one end of the tampon, which you pull to remove it.

Tampons come with instructions that explain how to use them. If the tampon is inserted correctly, you should not be able to feel it inside you. If you can feel it or it hurts, it might not be in properly.

It is not possible for a tampon to get stuck or lost inside you. Your vagina holds it firmly in place and it expands inside you as it soaks up the blood.

Menstrual cups

Menstrual cups are an alternative to sanitary pads and tampons. The cup is made from silicone and you put it inside your vagina.

Menstrual cups collect the blood rather than absorb it. Unlike sanitary pads and tampons, which are thrown away after they’ve been used, you can wash menstrual cups and and use them again.

PMS (premenstrual syndrome)

Changes in your body’s hormone levels before your period can cause physical and emotional changes.

This is known as PMS (premenstrual syndrome) or PMT (premenstrual tension).

There are many possible Symptoms of PMS, but typical symptoms include:

  • feeling bloated
  • breast tenderness
  • mood swings
  • feeling irritable
  • spotty skin or greasy hair
  • Loss of interest in sex

When do periods stop?

Your periods will proceed until you arrive at the menopause, which typically happens when you are in your late 40s to mid-50s. In the UK the normal period of menopause is 51.

Your periods may begin to turn out to be less regular over a couple of months or years prior to halting out and out. Now and again they can stop out of nowhere.

MOST EXPENSIVE SPORTS IN THE WORLD.

1) Equestrian

This ‘sport’ involves running, steeple chasing, and vaulting while riding a horse. While most people would love nothing more than to bond with a powerful animal like a horse, this sport is reserved only for the privileged few.

Training and maintaining such a large animal can cost a pretty penny (or paisa). Take into account travelling to events and stabling the animal properly, and you’ll be spending roughly $200,000 (more than 1 crore) every year!

And this doesn’t include the cost of buying a racehorse.

2) Formula 1

To be a Formula One racer, you need to have your own car. And considering that a single wheel of a Formula One car costs more than a regular civilian car, you’ll need a ton of money to be able to get into this sport.

Besides, injuries in Formula One races are no small matter, and a crash can amount to far more than a sprained ankle. But let’s forget about the possible medical costs for a second; to simply enter a Formula 1 race costs roughly $190,000 dollars! And considering that most racers begin practicing on go karts from a very young age, it is evident that this sport requires a minimum investment of a million dollars.

3) Sailing

The best part about sailing is that once you’ve got your own boat, the actual race requires very little investment. The worst part? A boat can cost anywhere between $50 million to $100 million. So you can only enjoy this sport if you’ve amassed enough wealth to actually buy a boat.

Another issue with this sport is that it’s seasonal in most countries, and the boat stays docked for the rest of the year. This is where the real money comes in as the cost of maintaining a boat on deck can be astronomical.

4) Wingsuiting

Wingsuiting is a sport where you fly through the air with the help of a special jumpsuit called a wingsuit. A wingsuit costs roughly $2,500, and while this isn’t cheap, it is by no means an expensive investment compared to the other sports on this list.

But the real cost of wingsuit diving involves hiring an airplane to take you up and paying the pilot for their services. You’ll also have to invest in skydiving lessons and pay for insurance before you can start diving.

Recreational wingsuit diving can cost upto $30,000 (Rs. 18 lakhs), and professional wingsuit diving costs much more.

ALIENS

ALIENS

INTRODUCTION :

a creature that comes from another planet and still it is unsolved research.

UFO :

Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) is any article or light in the sky that can’t be quickly clarified by the eyewitness. Sightings of uncommon aeronautical marvels date back to old occasions, yet UFOs (now and again called flying saucers) turned out to be broadly examined solely after the principal generally promoted American locating in 1947. A large number of such perceptions have since been accounted for around the world.

In any event 90% of UFO sightings can be distinguished as regular articles, despite the fact that tedious examinations are frequently essential for such recognizable proof. UFOs frequently end up being splendid planets or stars, airplane, birds, inflatables, kites, aeronautical .flares, exceptional mists, meteors, and satellites. The leftover sightings can likely be credited to other mixed up sightings or to incorrect revealing, lies, or hallucinations, despite the fact that to invalidate all cases made about UFOs is incomprehensible.

RESEARCH :

From 1947 to 1969 the United States Air Force (USAF). investigated UFOs as a possible threat to national security. A total of 12,618 reports was received, of which 701 reports, or 5.6 per cent, were listed as unexplained. The USAF concluded that “no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security”.

NEVERTHLESS BELIEF :

Some people nevertheless believe that UFOs are extraterrestrial spacecraft, even though no scientifically valid evidence supports that belief. The possibility of extraterrestrial civilizations is not the stumbling block; most scientists grant that intelligent life may well exist elsewhere in the universe. A fully convincing UFO photograph of a craft-like object has yet to be taken, however, and the scientific method requires that highly speculative explanations should not be adopted unless all of the more ordinary explanations can be ruled out.

CONCLUSION :

This proves that UFO’s and aliens are real because when explaining what had happen they were both in separate rooms under hypnotist ion. And also there was no one to explain the lost in the time or the marks on the body and the car.
UFO enthusiasts persist, however, and some people even claim to have been abducted and taken aboard UFOs. No one has produced scientifically acceptable proof of these claims.

Occupational Respiratory Disease

Occupational respiratory disease a type of lung condition, one can get at work due to inhalation of certain kind of toxins which are present in the air. One can develop this kind of disease if he/she is exposed to the toxins for a longer duration. Workplaces like coal mines and factories are some of the areas with high amounts of toxins. The toxins include asbestos and silica dust, as well as smoke, fumes, gases, and other particles.

These particles are present in the air that come from various sources and cause lung problems. Workplaces, where exposure to such toxins can be observed, are factories, smokestacks, exhaust, fires, mining, construction, and agriculture. The damage caused by the toxin particles is inversely related to the size of the particle. The smaller the particles are, the more damage they can do to the lungs. Smaller particles are easily inhaled deep into the lungs. Bigger particles are coughed out in most cases but the smaller ones are absorbed into the body instead of being coughed out.

Common symptoms of Occupational respiratory disease

The symptoms of the occupational respiratory disease vary from person to person. Different types of symptoms depend on a different kind of work setting, type of disease, and health state of a person.

Some of the symptoms are:

  1. Dry, scratchy, or sore throat
  2. Running nose
  3. Coughing
  4. Fever
  5. Tightness of chest
  6. Chest pain
  7. Muscle or body aches
  8. Breathing problems, such as shortness of breath or abnormal breathing
  9. Chest pain

The symptoms of occupational respiratory disease may appear like other health conditions or problems such as cold, flu, or allergies. Habits like smoking can worsen these symptoms.

How occupational respiratory disease is caused?

There are workplaces where there is exposure to dust particles from wood, cotton, coal, asbestos, silica, and talc. Substances like Pesticides, drug or enzyme powders, and fiberglass also can hurt one’s lungs. Factories in which certain food items are manufactured like cereal grains, coffee particles, and food flavourings can cause respiratory ailments.

Exposure to smoke for a longer duration can be very harmful. Smoke contains a mixture of particles, gases, and vapours.

Places, where welding, smelting, furnace work, pottery, manufacturing of plastics, and rubber operations take place, give rise to lots of fumes. Such fumes from metals that are heated and cooled quickly can cause damage to the lungs. Processes like welding, brazing, smelting, oven drying, and furnace work also release certain gases such as formaldehyde, ammonia, chlorine, sulphur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides.

Vapours from chemicals used in factories or industries are given off by all. Vapours usually irritate your nose and throat before they affect the lungs.

Mists or sprays from paints, lacquers (such as varnish), hair spray, pesticides, cleaning products, acids, oils, and solvents (such as turpentine).

Diagnosis

Occupational respiratory disease like other lung diseases requires a chest X-ray for diagnosis. Other tests that may be needed to figure out the type and severity of the lung disease include bronchoscopy, CT- scan, biopsy, or surgery.

Prevention

Prevention is always better than cure. The best to prevent occupational lung diseases is to avoid the inhalation of substances that causes lung diseases. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute recommends the following preventive measures:

1. Smoking must be avoided. Smoking can increase the risk of occupational lung disease.

2. One needs to wear proper protective devices, such as facial masks, when around airborne irritants and dust.

3. Evaluate lung function with spirometry (an evaluation of lung function performed in the doctor’s office) as often as recommended by your doctor to familiarize yourself with your lung function.

4. Educate workers concerning the risks of lung disease.

5. Hire a specially-trained occupational health expert to investigate your work environment for risks for occupational lung diseases on regular basis.

MY FATHER IS DIFFERENT !

As everybody likes to accept that their dad is unique, I do as well. In any case, this conviction isn’t simply founded on the adoration I have for him, yet additionally in view of his character. My dad claims a business and is very focused in all parts of life. He is the person who helped me to consistently rehearse discipline regardless of what work I do.

In particular, he has a jaunty nature and consistently makes my mom snicker with his senseless jokes even following 27 years of marriage. I totally love this senseless side of him when he is with his friends and family. He makes an honest effort to satisfy every one of our desires yet additionally keeps up the severity when the need emerges.

LOVE TOWARDS MY FATHER :

Probably the best thing I love about my dad is that he has consistently kept an extremely protected and open home climate. SEX EDUCATION

SEX EDUCATION

INTRODUCTION :

It is the instruction that gives information on physical, social, good, conduct and mental changes and improvements during adolescence. It shows the young people the part of young men and young ladies in family and society, duty and disposition of young men and young ladies towards one another, and so on inside friendly setting.

Sex instruction is never the most charming of the discussions for a grown-up and youngster to have. However, it’s anything but a fundamental one that many feel ought to occur in a capable and safe climate. Because of expanding occurrences of HIV/AIDS, RTIs/STIs and young pregnancies, there is a rising need to confer sex instruction. Guardians and advocates in Delhi contend that prohibiting sex schooling isn’t an answer and will demonstrate disadvantageous all things considered, given the openness kids have to the web.

EXPLANATION OF SEX EDUCATION :

There is an expanse of mutilated data accessible at the snap of a catch on the web. It scarcely illuminates issues like sex correspondence, conjugal sexual connections or even brutality or maltreatment on sexual grounds. That is the reason schools should take up these classes beginning from as right on time as class VI, so the understudies are happy with moving toward their instructors prior to going to temperamental wellsprings of data on the web.

The sole point of such a schooling is help kids to set up and acknowledge the job and duty of their own sexual orientation by getting the information on sex. Understanding the distinctions and similitudes between two sexual orientations; as far as body and-brain will set up an establishment for the future improvement in their associate with companions and sweethearts and their relational relationship. It will likewise assist with growing genuinely stable youngsters and youths who have a sense of safety and sufficient to settle on choices in regards to their direct without being moved by their feelings.

STUDY OF SEX EDUCATION :

A study on child abuse in India, conducted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, reports that a good percentage of boys and girls surveyed, have faced some or the other form of sexual abuse. Therefore, sex education might help the vulnerable young population to be aware about their sexual rights and empower them to protect themselves from any undesired act of violence, sexual abuse and molestation. India’s National Population Policy also reiterates the need for educating adolescents about the risks of unprotected sex. It has been seen that various schools across different cities in India are organising workshops to create awareness among students on issues like health and hygiene. Unfortunately, a complete sex education drive on a regular basis is still to be introduced in the Indian schools.

CONCLUSION :

Sex training is a piece of the prospectus from class VIII onwards in any case, when the understudies find out about the conceptive framework in their science classes. There are such countless different issues that children of this age bunch face and should be sharpened about – managing dismissals, getting too genuine seeing someone – themes that guardians need the school staff to direct their children through.

Such direction is genuinely necessary in the current occasions of data over-burden. Indeed, guardians feel that it is the schools that must be proactive and organize classes and meetings like these, so the day the kid is interested, he finds the solutions from prepared experts and not from some mysterious site.

Should education be free?

Education is one of the basic requirements for everyone to stand strong in front of the society. It gives us the confidence and power to be able to fight our fears and insecurities. Being an educated person makes you a strong, independent person who can make his own decisions. The freedom of taking your own decision and fulfilling the needs will be in your hand after getting educated.

Private schools are quite famous of charging high amount of fees. Most of the parents are not able to afford the expenses for education. India being the 2nd highest populated country, the number of resources available are not enough for the huge population. The scarcity of food, water, shelter used to face very commonly by the poor section of our society. Unemployment-hindrance to development

Unemployment became a never ending war problem in front of our country .But the outbreak of covid19 make this problem more dense. Now along with the problem of unemployment the problem of disguised employment is in front of us. Unemployment means the numbers of individuals in the state are finding jobs for which they are fit, and they are willing to, but not getting that. Or simply a person is willing for a paid job or searching for one. It is a curse to society and decreases the economic growth of the country. The particular age group of unemployment is adults. The main reason for unemployment is the rapidly increasing population is one of the most affecting factors of unemployment. Slow economic growth, industrial growth is also the main reason for unemployment.
Unemployment leads to an increase in poverty and sets back the economic growth of the country. The women’s unemployment rate is higher in rural areas than in urban sectors of the country. Unemployment also misguides or makes our youth helpless to do criminal activities. The migration of people from rural to urban areas for the search of the job also affects it. As the demand for jobs is high and the number of posts is less. Unemployment is also a reason for our youth is getting addicted to drugs. Due to lack of a job, they get addicted to drugs, alcohol, and may even get into criminal activities. The government, as well as the society or we, should focus on population control and make people aware of its ill effects, long-time advantages, and ways to control which help the government to provide jobs to needy ones if there are some limited members.
Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. Agriculture in India is not developed enough to accommodate all the unemployed youth. Our agriculture is still dependent on old and traditional ways of farming. And our education should also be upgraded as it mainly focuses on practical aspects of learning, should offer the vocational course and with that indirectly it will give the job to teachers.

teenybopper on a year that made all the difference

Being caught inside — and missing the achievements that usually mark transitioning in America — was desolate, bewildering, discouraging and surprisingly choking. However, numerous likewise astonished themselves. They fortified with kin, found nature, discovered little solaces in Zoom-school, messed around, worked out, cooked, composed, sang, moved, painted and made recordings. Furthermore, maybe generally significant during a period of life zeroed in on sorting out what your identity is, they reevaluated themselves. However, albeit so many adapted honorably, this age will always show signs of change. As one 16-year-old put it, “Leaving a mark on the world is way misrepresented.” This week, a year after the World Health Organization proclaimed Covid-19 a pandemic, we share their accounts. In this uncommon undertaking, we picked a small bunch of passages to show what teens have lost — and what they have found. Underneath each picture, you can discover altered and dense passages from their specialists’ explanations that can reveal to you more about the work. Regardless of how old you are, as you read you may ask yourself an inquiry, as well: How has this year tested and changed your age?

“Simply inhale” turned into a mantra. I advised myself to get past the basic things. Setting aside the effort to reflect, I understood why the Saran Wrap was choking out me — I was the person who pulled it tight. Indeed, it was set there by my obligations and the vulnerability of our reality, however I was able to give up. I let go of all that wasn’t serving me, and took a profound breath.Ever since I was a youngster, I anticipated my eighteenth birthday celebration. I figured I would out of nowhere acquire long stretches of information and have the ability to change the world. Much to my dismay how troublesome the time of my retirement from adolescence would be.

At the point when mumbles of isolating were turning into a reality, my family and I were trapped. My mother, a fundamental specialist and single parent, worked the entire day while my more youthful kin and I went to class. On top of attempting to move on from secondary school, I must be a mother for a preschooler and a grade-schooler. My eighteenth birthday celebration went back and forth, and I was as yet unchanged Stevia.

I took a gander at the most recent couple of months and understand this is the thing that experiencing childhood in a worldwide emergency looks like for low-pay families. Being isolated caused me to acknowledge the amount I have been denied of my adolescence and that I’ve been a “grown-up” for most of my life. My photograph addresses awakening every day with the pressure of not understanding what life will toss at you, yet making an insincere effort in any case. I snapped this picture one morning as my kin were all the while dozing four feet from me. The light was getting through the window so flawlessly, and it was one of only a handful of seconds of quiet I had encountered since March.

Mob lynching-to what extent correct?

Mob Lynching is an open punishment applied by a gather that does not have the authority to do so. Most times, lynching occurs when a group believes that a person has committed a crime, even if it has not been trialed or convicted. lynching’s practice may include public hangings, tar, and feathering, or other forms of extreme punishment or execution performed in public. Lynching differs from uncommon types of punishment because the public performs it outside the legal system. This is often handled by a group of people. Lynching is a mob justice in which ordinary people come together to terrorize or punish someone they think violates a legal, moral, and social standard. Today in our society cases of mob-lynching occur in the name of homecoming, love jihad, cow protection, and self-defense camps, the longstanding issues of communalism against the community are being expressed now as violence. The crowd is making a target of people .also many cases recorder where There is an attempt to provoke communities suffering from such attacks.

The instant “justice” of the crowd also reveals the breaking of people’s confidence in law and order. mass lynching cases are mainly caused by the spread of rumors, suspicions, or religious beliefs. If we understand the events in what order they happened then, we may consider that some were the consequences of caste-based horrors, some were because of religious beliefs, and the rest was because of false news or rumors.

No doubt we should respect religious beliefs, but what if few people kill a person based on suspicion or suspicion? But the main question is that too what extend it is justified to take law in the hands. And to do injustice with someone in the name of the justice. Now need of the time is that government itself investigate the matter and give punishment to those who are culprit.

Evil corruption

Corruption refers to a form of criminal activity or dishonesty. It refers to an evil act by an individual or a group. It includes activities like bribery or embezzlement. Most people in positions of authority are susceptible to Corruption. Corruption certainly reflects greedy and selfish behavior. Bribery is the most common method of Corruption which involves improper use of favors and gifts in exchange for personal gain. the favors include money, gifts, company shares, sexual favors, employment, entertainment, and political benefits. Also, the personal gain can be – giving preferential treatment and overlooking crime.

One important way of preventing Corruption is to give a better salary in a government job. Many government employees receive pretty low salaries. so they resort to bribery to meet their expenses. So, government employees should receive higher salaries. , high salaries would reduce their motivation and resolve to engage in bribery. By Increasing the number of workers we can curb Corruption. In many government offices, the workload is very high. This provides an opportunity to slow down the work of government employees. Consequently, these employees then indulge in bribery in return for faster delivery of work. Hence, this opportunity to bribe can be removed by bringing in more employees in government offices.

Strong laws are very important for stopping Corruption. strict punishments need to be meted out to guilty individuals. Furthermore, there should be an efficient and quick implementation of strict laws. Applying cameras in workplaces is an excellent way to prevent corruption. Above all, many individuals would refrain from indulging in Corruption due to fear of being caught. Furthermore, these individuals would have otherwise engaged in Corruption. Furthermore, the politician supports them due to the benefits they receive. Corruption is a great evil in society. This evil should be quickly eliminated from society.

Agony of covid19

COVID has not only affected us by entering our bodies but the agony of Losing family members, jobs, income, a completely disrupted education system, and constant fear of what next have severely damaged the peace of people. Even doctors, nurses are under the agony of constant threat and tremendous work pressure. Oxygen plants are being constructed and vaccines are being produced, however, what the mind has been going through cannot be cured by steroids or vaccines.

These are some of the thoughts that haunt many of us who are infected or have lost people close to us due to COVID. Whenever we surf the internet through information pieces or even when we watch the news, we see they offer COVID helpline numbers, hospital details, and other valuable information on how to tackle COVID. In the same way, we can have a COVID Mental Health support helpline, wherein people can interact with therapists or more precisely connect to somebody who can listen and feel empathetically.

At this point advice like yoga, meditation, or “keep yourself engaged” does not work. There has to be sharing, there has to be handholding throughout the process of recovery. To heal completely from COVID or COVID implications the mind needs to be healed as well and we all have to pay attention to this

It is Better to have Brains than Beauty

Remember that the most beautiful things in the world are the most useless, peacock and lilies for instance. It is better to have brain than beauty, that is not only useful for us but also for society. It is very known fact that “beauty is but skin-deep”.

Beauty fades with the passage of time where as the brain and mental faculty improves and grows with age. We become wiser and more experienced.

The impact of our brain on our personality is but an acknowledged fact.

Therefore, we should try to improve our mental faculty and do something for society to be a part of the nobles causes.

Health OR Wealth

The wealthy are not happy and can never be so, as wealth is the root cause of their unhappiness. In fact it is the universal truth that a healthy man lives a much more happy and content life, than a man blessed with wealth. We all are aware of the old adage ‘ Health is wealth ‘. Thus, we see that there are many things besides wealth, which can enrich us and help us lead a full and wholesome life.

“Superfluity comes sooner by white hair while competency lives longer”, said William Shakespeare in his play ‘Merchant Of Venice’. Wealthy men indeed age faster with worry, while healthy competent men live longer.

Therefore, in order to be happy we should work for noble and social causes, so that we could ‘ leave our foot prints in the sands of times’.

Mental Sickness

Covid-19 has shaken the entire world. Even though Major Pharma companies have developed vaccines intending to end the pandemic. we are still struggling to find an end to this pandemic. One of the issues that India faces is the delay in immunizing the population again Covid-19. The delay is partly due to overpopulation. And If the vaccines are not effective against the new variant, it needs to be redesigned to combat the new variant, prolonging the pandemic.

Due to covid, our country has to suffer Major economies struggle to cope with the health care burden as millions of infected people need hospitalization for several days, depending on the severity of the disease.

No one knows when lockdown will be enforced again to control the situation. Many are losing their families and not allowed to attend the final rites due to strict quarantine and lockdown measures. Along with these major problems This disease has seriously created mental health issues, and it may take years to recover from such mental health conditions. Governments have to set up a separate budget to manage increasing mental health issues. The freedom to move around has now been crippled by Covid-19, and most people in lockdown are confined in a small space, limiting them to have face-to-face interactions with their dear ones and friends. It has affected people from all walks of life and has led to mental health issues. It is hard to find a common solution to all as mental health issues differ from person to person. Students are the worst affected community as Many schools and colleges have resorted to online teaching, which isn’t as good as a regular session.

The digital screen has now become our portal to communicate with the outside world. Many children have lost their parents in this second wave in India and have become orphans since then. There were several appeals to the Government of India requesting to support the children who have lost their parents/guardians/adopted parents. In such a drastic situation people are feeling alone. The best thing to overcome negative thoughts is by performing regular meditation and yoga, listen to music, news, recall sweet memories, watch favorite movies, plays, and read books. Only by overcoming our negative thoughts we can overcome mental sickeness.

A Mother always wants best for her child and never compromise on anything related to her child. Parents protect their child from any difficult situation and provide him all comfort that they can afford. A mother is like an angel for her child. When a child born; it is the mother who easily understands the feelings or requirements of her child. She spends every second around her child for fulfilling his all needs. Since childhood, our mother keeps telling us what is wrong and what is right in a manner to build us as a good human being and also encourage us to do good things in life.
She loves and cares us without any personal greed. The fragrance of a mother can easily be recognized by her newborn child. Since birth, a child is being observed by his mother. For providing a child all comforts she does all needful. All mothers are pure by heart and want all the best things in their child’s life whether it is any toy, clothing, education and the values. Motherhood is the best part of life a lady can have. It is a full-time job without any salary but it worth’s a lot for a child. Mother’s love is something that can feel, mothers love is like a blessing by God, mothers love is everything. People who escape from the love of their mothers are really very unfortunate.

Importance of Trees

From childhood, we’ve heard that trees are our satisfactory pal however in realistic existence, we didn’t see anyone who treats trees as their pals. Even though they may be the most treasured existence supply on the earth. They benefit each life form in a direct or oblique way. And the earth is connected to them to maintain a herbal balance. In this essay on store trees, we are discussing the reason why our buddies want saving.

They nourish us and defend us in lots of approaches. Additionally, they keep our environment inexperienced and smooth. So, it becomes our duty to pay off them for the matters they do for us by way of saving them. Except, massive timber are extra useful than small ones due to the fact they capture greater carbon, seize greater water, combat the heat, clear out greenhouse gases, offers refuge from warmth and daylight, and so on. So, it may be stated that we depend on them extra in preference to they on us.

Benefits and significance of trees
As we have mentioned the advantages of trees in quick however right here we’re going to speak about them in element. Flora and bushes fight the climatic modifications which might be destroying the earth. In addition they clear out the air that we breathe and soak up all the damaging chemical gases and odors from the surroundings. Additionally, they soak up the damaging carbon dioxide and offers out oxygen.

They may be true for the diversity of flora and fauna. They give us meals, safe haven and many more things that we can’t matter. Besides, they in no way demand something from us and also save you soil erosion, water evaporation. Peculiarly, they manage and manipulate the consequences of wind, sun and, rain.

Why should we save trees?
The human has turn out to be aware and severe about this problem and started doing the nice they are able to do to store bushes. The woodland departments and authorities have banned the unlawful slicing of trees. And they are going virtual as a way to shop paper for you to reduce the range of trees reduce down for making paper.

Other than that, the wooded area area after reducing of bushes need to be replanted with new ones. Also, we must train our youngsters to plant trees and ask them to pass it on their pals and buddies.

The least that we will do is to plant a few pots in our home rooftops or lawn and ask our neighbor to do the same. Additionally, if we see the removal of a tree then we ought to inform the neighborhood authority approximately it to create consciousness. Specially, strict laws have to be made for people who illegally or without permission reduce those trees for his or her personal blessings.

The numerous existence form is able to live to tell the tale on this planet because of flora. If we dispose of plant life from the earth even for sooner or later then the survival of guy turns into difficult.

Besides, they’re the supply of water and clean oxygen on the planet. Cutting of trees will lead to destroying the human existence on the earth. So, the time has come that we to be aware of the problems we will be facing due to large deforestation and we should start taking preventive measures to stop it.

RELIGIOUS STEREOTYPES ASSOCIATED WITH LARGEST MINORITY IN INDIA

India is a country dominated by religion. Constitution framers also had this concern, while drafting it that how would democratic state ensure equality for every citizen in the country. The resultant concern was depicted in the form of Article 15 and Host of rights under Article 25 to 28. Even if, the constitution did not explicitly used the word “Secularism” as it was adopted, still the spirit could have been figured through these articles. But, Substitution of word “Secularism” was done through 42nd amendment of the constitution. Even if the constitution ensures the principle of religious freedom and right to dignity, Several Instances in the form of Massacres, portrays the impact of religious stereotypes playing a major role than the guarantees by the constitution. The Killing of More than 1000 people, mostly belonging to the largest minority community in India in Godhra Riots 2002 was a major setback to the secularism guaranteed by the constitution. When a person tries to understand the reasons associated with such events, one has to take into consideration the religious stereotypes been falsely rumoured from years in the country and how the politicians have taken mileage of such stereotypes and filled their vote banks, Instead of sweeping these false rumours and slamming those who speak of it.Some of the Stereotypes such as Hearing an Islamic name and thinking of him/her belonging to an educationally weak background, but this stereotype gets smashed in the face, when one gets to know that APJ Abdul Kalam, who also belonged to same community and His education level was at par with top intellectuals around the world. Another Stereotype is that “they are very unclean”, The largest Minority community in India has a significant amount of population residing in western nations, where they are well off and such stereotypes do not run over there, Thus judging any community through their personal spheres is not a practice that has to be encouraged rather, it acts as a defaming agent. Some of the questions, also part of such stereotype are: Are You Pakistani, Are You a terrorist.Further, the list of such stereotypes are not exhaustive but the importance of discussing them and resorting to reduce such stereotype threat should be something on the priority list. Stereotype threat effects are very robust and affect all stigmatised groups. Stereotype threat leads to a vicious circle. Stigmatised individuals experience anxiety which depletes their cognitive resources and leads to underperformance, confirmation of the negative stereotype and reinforcement of the fear. We find that majority of stereotypes with respect to the minority community comes from those individuals who are themselves at self-doubt or under some threat which reduces their cognitive mind to think of repercussions of such statements. India has already faced fierce riots and massacres where huge numbers of civilians have been killed and it forces us to think upon such expectations. It is a high time that people have to take efforts to destroy these stereotypes, so that India could breathe fresh air in its diversity.

WHAT IS FRIENDSHIP?

The defining characteristic of friendship is a preference for a particular person. However, different people may have distinct definitions of and requirements for friendship. For example, very young children may refer to someone as their “best friend” two minutes after meeting, while very shy people or individuals from reserved cultures may report having only a handful of friends during their entire lives.

There’s no absolute definition of what does or does not constitute a friendship. However, some common traits of friendship include:

  • Some degree of commitment, both to the friendship and to the other person’s well-being.
  • A desire for “regular” contact with the other person. “Regular” contact could occur once every two days or once every two years.
  • Mutual trust, concern, and compassion.
  • Shared interests, opinions, beliefs, or hobbies.
  • Shared knowledge about one another’s lives, emotions, fears, or interests.
  • Feelings of love, respect, admiration, or appreciation.

Anthropologist Robin Dunbar theorized there was a limit to how many friendships an individual can have. In general, most humans have up to 150 friends, 50 good friends, 15 close friends, and 5 intimate friends. These numbers have shown to be consistent across time, from hunter-gather societies to the age of social media.

FRIENDSHIP AND GENDER

Culture strongly affects people’s understanding of friendship. In the United States and many other industrialized wealthy nations, women tend to have more friendships than men and to invest more energy in those friendships. Romantic relationships are, for many men, a sole or primary source of friendship. So as children grow into adolescents and adolescents become adults, boys may have fewer and fewer friendships.

Cultural norms suggest that women are “better” at friendship, more communicative, or more in need of intimacy from friends. This can create a self-fulfilling prophecy in which women are more likely to have friends. Women also spend more time investing in their friendships. A man might only talk to his closest friend once every few months, while on average, women in the U.S. tend to talk longer and more frequently to their friends.

Among people in long-term relationships, women tend to do more work to sustain friendships and other close relationships. This might include sending Christmas cards, remembering birthdays, making phone calls, and updating friends on major life events.

Researchers are increasingly sounding alarm bells about an epidemic of loneliness. Loneliness can shorten a person’s life and erode their health. It may even pose greater public health risks than smoking. This suggests that gender norms about friendships may actually harm men’s health. As marriage rates decline, men without friendships may feel progressively more isolated.

Gender may also affect whom one chooses as a friend. A 2018 study found that gender discrimination can decrease the likelihood that a person will form friendships with members of a different gender. Cross-gender friendships can foster empathy, break down gender barriers, and undermine gender stereotypes. Gender norms that undermine these friendships may therefore perpetuate gender stereotypes and misogyny.

FRIENDSHIP ACROSS A LIFESPAN

Lifelong friendships can be immensely rewarding. People may draw inspiration from talking to those who knew them when they were young. Lifelong friends connect people to their history, offer insight on how a person has changed and evolved, and are often deeply connected to one another’s families. These friendships offer a sense of permanency and consistency that can be deeply reassuring at times of ambivalence, loss, or anxiety.

Sustaining a friendship across a lifespan, however, can be difficult. People’s interests and lifestyles change as they age. In childhood, a friendship might be based upon geographic closeness or a single shared interest. So a move or a change of interests can affect even long-term friendships.

Some barriers to sustaining lifelong friendships include:

  • Changes in lifestyle. For example, if one friend has a child and a marriage and the other does not, the two may struggle to relate to one another.
  • Geographic distance. Childhood friends often walk next door or hitch a ride from a parent to see one another. When time together requires a plane or long car ride, the friendship is harder to nurture.
  • Time constraints. People’s lives tend to become more demanding as they get married, have children, become caregivers for aging parents, embark on challenging careers, and accrue more financial obligations. Finding time for friends can be difficult in adulthood, especially when friends have very different lifestyles or do not live near one another.
  • Cultural values surrounding friendship. In the U.S. and in many other countries, romantic relationships are treated as the primary and most important relationship. This can cause some people to value their friendships less as they enter adult romantic relationships.
  • Shifting understandings of friendship. There’s no “right” way to have a friendship. One of the challenges of sustaining a friendship is finding a shared understanding of what the friendship should look like—how frequently to talk, what to talk about, how openly to discuss disagreements, etc. As childhood friends grow up, their desires for their friendships may change. This can leave one friend feeling like the friendship doesn’t offer enough, while the other friend feels the friendship demands too much.

True friends

“Good friends care for each other…close friends understand each other, but TRUE FRIENDS stay forever…beyond words, beyond distance, beyond time…!”

Many of us have friends in our lives over the years. Some friends we make as children and then lose contact as we grow older. Other friends we make as adults and stay in touch with as long as we are in close proximity to and it is convenient to keep in touch but then over time one moves away or busy schedules slowly pull us apart and we start to lose touch.  Those friendships fall into the “good friends” or “close friends” as the opening quote cites. But then there is that last group of friends – those we call true friends – they are those we have a mutual caring about, and we understand each other’s hearts, and where bonds are formed between us that span any distance in proximity and where the bonds run so deep that no amount of time apart or lack of words will change the way we feel about that friend. These are our true friends, and when one comes into your life cherish it!

As a child our family moved often and so I was constantly making new friends each place we moved. Often the contact was lost with friends in past locations, although my memories of them were treasured. As an adult it is often harder to find the time to form those deep friendships outside your immediate family members because we are all trying to juggle a million balls in the air with work and church and service and community all while trying to give our greatest attention to our own children and spouses  where it rightfully belongs. And as a single mother for many years of my life it was even more difficult to make time for friends because playing the role of two parents by yourself while also being the sole support of your family was overwhelming to say the least.

But even during those challenging years there were individuals during that time who came into my life that I consider my truest of friends. They are individuals who saw me through tough times and who always saw the best in me despite any of my shortcomings. They picked me up at times I was down. They stood by me when I felt alone. They taught me things about life and about myself with patience and understanding. They lifted my children’s spirits and made them laugh when they were going through tough times of their own. They forgave at times when I was grumpy or obstinate. They loved me without judgment and without expectations. They gave me hugs, even at times that I may not have deserved one.  These true friends were individuals who were there for me…maybe not always in person or in word every time, but always in heart…and knowing that helped me through incredible challenges throughout the years.

True friends just do that – they help us grow and change for the better.  They support us in good times and bad. They can make us laugh when all we want to do is cry. And no matter how far apart time and distance may cause us to grow from one another, and even if death takes one of them from this world to the next, we always have the comfort of knowing that these true friends are still there for us, even if only in spirit, cheering us on and wishing us the best, because that is what true friends do for each other.

“A strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation, doesn’t always need togetherness as long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends will never part…”

When someone is genuinely your true friend they leave an impression on your heart that will never go away…not with time and not with distance. True friends secure a place in your heart forever.  I am forever grateful for the true friends in my life, both those who are alive and those who have passed away, thank you so much for being my true friends!

First Genetically Modified Rubber in the world – sapling planted in Assam

The worlds 1st Genetically Modified (GM) rubber sapling was planted on the outskirts of Guwahati in Sarutari research farm by Rubber Board of India. It was developed in Kerala based Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII). It was exclusively made for Northeast geography and is expected to withstand the climate of this region.

Additional copies of gene MnSOD (manganese containing superoxide dismutase) is in GM rubber plant. This modification is believed to make the plant immune to severe cold condition during winter which majorly affects the growth of rubber plant in the region. The crop is also expected to reduce the maturity period of rubber indicating chances of early yielding.

Why Mothers are supposed to be Selfless?

Why Mothers are supposed to be Selfless?

During the high wave of covid in India, someone shared a picture of a women cooking while wearing a nebulizer attached to oxygen support. The picture triggered debates on twitter.

Our culture sings of mothers thus they possess the highest esteem a woman may ever have. Goddesses are worshipped as mothers on a huge scale. But the same culture and the people associated barely give support to mothers in the practical ways.

It took long for our government to realize their sexist policy allowed only women employees of the central government organizations to avail child care leaves. The idea of motherhood implying to adjustments and sacrifices has been reinforced generations after generations in some form or the other. While women are the birth-givers naturally, the idea of women and especially mothers being the exclusive caregivers is just a widely accepted social norm. The idea of caring and nice women is so intense that most of the girls are socially engineered to be convinced that caregiving is their highest moral duty.

While caring and sacrificing for another makes us human and this needs to be cultivated but not when they are expected exclusively from one gender in service of the other. Also childcare and domestic duties which are often seen as ‘women’s duties’ should never be carried out at the cost of their own aspirations and freedom. The traits of being nice and caring are not a part of the female DNA but they are developed knowingly and unknowingly by the society. The society requires all girls and women to be feminine. But neither all females are feminine nor all feminine are females. Women are praised to be feminine so that they can be feminine. Every mother might not be convinced to be the only caregiver for her child. A women may not like to take care of the family’s domestic chores. And these ideas need to be normalized.

COVID19

COVID19

INTRODUCTION :

The coronavirus family causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), according to the WHO.
They circulate in animals and some can be transmitted between animals and humans. Several coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.
The new coronavirus, the seventh known to affect humans, has been named COVID-19.

SYMPTOMS OF COVID19?

  • Common signs of infection include fever, coughing and breathing difficulties. In severe cases, it can cause pneumonia, multiple organ failure and death.
  • The incubation period of COVID-19 is thought to be between one and 14 days. It is contagious before symptoms appear, which is why so many people get infected.
Infected patients can be also asymptomatic, meaning they do not display any symptoms despite having the virus in their systems.

ORIGIN OF COVID19 :

  • China alerted the WHO to cases of unusual pneumonia in Wuhan on December 31.
COVID-19 is thought to have originated in a seafood market where wildlife was sold illegally.
  • On February 7, Chinese researchers said the virus could have spread from an infected animal to humans through illegally trafficked pangolins, prized in Asia for food and medicine.
Scientists have pointed to either bats or snakes as possible sources.

INSTRUCTIONS FROM WHO?

The WHO recommends basic hygiene such as regularly washing hands with soap and water, and covering your mouth with your elbow when sneezing or coughing.

Maintain “physical distancing” – keeping at least 1 metre (three feet) between yourself and others – particularly if they are coughing and sneezing, and avoid touching your face, eyes and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid unnecessary, unprotected contact with animals and be sure to thoroughly wash hands after contact.

Plastic: A villain in disguise

Photo by Leonid Danilov on Pexels.com

The invention of Plastic changed the face of the Earth. It saw the light of the day in 1869 when John Wesley Hyatt synthesised the first polymer to replace ivory. Ivory was costly and animals were culled for its production. Then came Bakelite, the first fully synthesised plastic, produced in 1907 by Leo Baekeland. Since then we have come a long way. We started small but now we have an assortment of plastics. It has become an inseparable part of our lives. Once a celebrated invention has become a burden on our planet.

Threats from plastic that are raising concerns worldwide include the following-

—Plastics does not decompose easily and hence remains in the environment for a long time.
—If they are incinerated during waste disposal, toxic fumes are produced directly into the atmosphere like dioxins, furans, mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls apart from soot (carbon).
— Plastics serve as a surface for the transport of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) to aquatic animals. POPs are organic chemical substances that remain in the environment for a long duration.
—It can be consumed by animals leading to death. The news about finding plastics in beached whale carcass is frequent. The weight of plastic inside large whales often leads to drowning induced death.
Microplastics which are plastic pieces smaller than 5mm are major pollutants. Through this plastics enter into the food chain because microplastics can be consumed by fishes, which in turn are consumed by others fishes or by humans. In a recent study, microplastics were found in the human placenta.
— Microplastics like Bisphenol A (BPA) can act as endocrine disruptors (ED’s). This means that plastic can cause hormonal imbalances. It affects sex hormones in humans and can disrupt menstrual cycles in females.
— Reduces soil fertility
— Reduces water seepage into the ground affecting groundwater level

Actions to curb single-use plastic
In the past, the government resorted to banning single-use plastic. This failed to achieve the desired target of zero plastic. Perhaps a new way of doing things is the need of the hour. A behavioural nudge can do wonders. Its efficacy was proved during Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It includes incentivising actions that promotes voluntary avoidance of Plastic use. This can be done via awareness generation and educating young minds to become responsible adults.
Legislation can facilitate phasing out the plastic. Draft Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2021 were recently released by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. It aims at phasing out single-use plastic in three phases. A circular economy that is based on the concept of recycling and reusing, is another solution. India collaborated with Australia to work in tandem and develop a circular economy.
Globally actions like the Stockholm Convention on POP’s and the latest UNEP’s counterMEASURE are steps that work against plastic. Many non-governmental organisation and individuals have raised their voices against the burgeoning issue of plastic pollution. In the end, the people have to be the final piece of the puzzle that can solve the problem.

Today we are on the cusp of a big transition. We have a choice that will decide our future- a choice to eliminate the use of single-use plastic or continue to live unsustainably. The right choice today will give the generation next shot at living a good life, enjoying the luxuries that we enjoy.
